Okay so I keep coming back to "shouldn't you say thank you?"

Because it's not aggressive and confident like when she leaves with Willy, and it's not sheepish like when she's caught with the clicker, it's something else entirely.

Scary has done the team a service. She has just solved the problem that they've spent two months on, she is being a team player, she's earning the position of leader that she didn't originally want, she's making her friends proud.

But she is so deep into Willy's manipulation that she cannot see what happened. She gave the command to kill a man at a dinner party in front of his peers and their children. She set Willy Stampler, known monster who wants to absorb the doodler and become god, free, with no knowledge on what he might have done to their family and friends.

And when Linc reacts (justifiably) negatively after watching a man die in his arms, this is where Scary finds herself. This is where she says "shouldn't you say thank you?" Not as a snappy line, but out of genuine confusion. Why don't her friends appreciate what she's done for them? She was trying to help, shouldn't they be thanking her for it? Why don't they understand her? Why don't they say thank you?

Scary, more than anything, wants to be seen and appreciated, something she's found in Willy Stampler. The more she spends time with Willy, the more desensitized she becomes to her actions. And the more desensitized she becomes to her actions, the more she alienates everyone else around her.

And you can get mad at Scary for choosing Willy. Even without the knowledge we the audience have about all the terrible things he's done, she still had the journal recap, right? She should still trust her friends not wanting to work with him, right?

But Scary Marlowe is choosing to trust a man who has shown her kindness. And why shouldn't she? After all, she's only a kid.

drawing art for my own writing is an act of pure self indulgence, and something that has always been very high on my to-do list. i feel like the way i write and draw are very intertwined, and getting to flex both parts of my creative brain is just, well, very wonderfully fun :D

back in september i created my first fic cover art, something that had been a huge challenge for me. it was also a special gift for a special person, and while it’s no longer up its something i look back to fondly.

so saying all that to say this was very, very fun. i have been slowly coming out of what was a multi-month long deep, painful turn in my depression. one of the things that has gotten me through that is creating again, catering to myself and trying to re-learn the confidence i once had 😭

ok ok closeups! scar and pearl’s faces turned out exactly like my sketch! i was considering adding other characters and the castle, but the dreamland-constellation animals won out.

Summary:

alright ive finished TAS! a delightful little series, thoroughly enjoyed myself with it

now im onto the original movies because, surprisingly, I have never watched them! the only movie ive seen of the originals is Wrath of Khan, which my parents had me watch 10 years ago, so that I would understand Khan's significance when we went to see Into Darkness

starting of course with The Motion Picture. which so far is [checks time] almost 3 full minutes of music and stars! before the logos even begin! incredible. never change you beautiful franchise

do you think there are several different endings for swap au? or is it just 1) Get Better or 2) Be emotionally constipated for the rest of your life? And ohh my god stanley’s “try again” ohh :(

there are endings in a sense, but they're not really an "end". Stanley never resets if he can help it, but if Narry gets hurt or gets stuck somewhere he shouldn't be he'll reset.

the two main endings are, yeah,

get better

stay in the parable for a long long time and then stanley gives up on narry and sends him back. maybe he'll try again later.

tbh im not all that upset abt losing my sims saves. i had to delete them routinely anyhow bc of the absolute state of storage on macbooks, so it’s not too much of a loss. it’s finding all the cc i had to delete over the years thts gonna b a task n a half
