Looking back, it's so funny that my family still sees my neurodivergence as more of a prayer issue than a neurological difference especially when I got very overwhelmed singing during praise and worship, but was still told to sing and dance so they definitely looked to their side and just saw this

im still baffled by the general response to ep 8 btw. sure the dialogue got a little cheesy at times, but the dialogue in this show is always like 15% cheesy? that’s why people like it lol.
i thought ep 8 was really good, plotlines were moving, drama was happening, characters and relationships were being tested. juno temple acted her ass off. i wish the whole season had been like this!
i really don’t understand why everyone disliked this ep so much. am i missing something? am i just looking for something different out of this show than everyone else is? i agree that the season as a whole has been… scattered, but i thought this past ep was really good.
am i missing something?

Assuming this will be an unpopular opinion..
I think Rhys would 100% read Bryce's mind as soon as she appeared.
Like she was covered in blood, wearing crazy clothes, appeared from nowhere, had the Made feel about her, BIG sword. Rhys would have seen a threat in the world where he now has a child and been like "WTF, I'm going in!" I don't think consent would have had time to cross his mind before instinct and fear kicked in.
And I would not have hated him for doing so. Coz realistic. And I quite like my characters flawed. In fact, I judge him for not doing it. That's probably why he went in so hard at Nesta, because he knew he fucked up.

ngl i love my girl anna but the reason cas was more compelling is that he was arcing into doubt
there is a better post somewhere but cas is confused about his loyalties, lending intense tension that fed the pre-existing themes
EDIT: all i'm saying is there is more natural tension in a person coiled/standing on the precipice than there is in the one already splayed on the ground

I didn't understand why people were so upset about the new Minecraft movie... like, it is a mass media movie. It is so rarely happens to be a good movie, when we talk about videogame/cartoon adaptation. It is almost always for different target audiences.
Like lightning in a bottle rarely
(Not hitting you, just can't understand 😔)
Hi!
So, I assume you– like me– were not surprised at the state of the Minecraft movie? You knew it would be a cash grab, and that it would be trying to appeal to little kids etc.
Remember that video game movie adaptations have been getting better over the last couple of years. So I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people had hoped that this movie would be a continuation of that.
Minecraft means a lot to a lot of people– they have fond memories of playing it after school or with their siblings, they loved watching YouTubers or streamers play it, and heck, those very content creators wouldn't be where they are now without it.
For something that means so much to so many people to be treated in such a way by Warner Bros. is frankly an insult. Not only to the game itself, which deserves respect, but to the people who they were trying (???) to appeal to. It's like spitting a half-eaten-rotting cheeseburger onto your guest's plate– "we know how much you like cheeseburgers! So we went out back and grabbed the finest from our dumpster–"
There was no true effort put in to understand Minecraft and what made it the most popular game in the world.
It's okay if you weren't surprised, if you expected the washed-out garbage we got. It just hurts to see something you love so dearly be mocked by people who don't actually care about what they're imitating.

This could've been a standalone movie separate from The Exorcist franchise. That moment when possessed Angela revealed the decision Victor made years ago? Most memorable bit of the movie. Victor's story had the merits to stand on its own. Besides, they didn't use the existing lore of The Exorcist properly so why bother

went to see the barbie movie a few days ago and hm. weird
#spoilers for the tags and also a slight little rant#for a movie all about girls and woman it sure was all about men#and made a pregnant woman the butt of the joke just bc she was pregnant#and there’s a whole segment at the beginning where a barbie is all ‘my emotions make me stronger =)’ and then later barbie just gives up#and sobs on the ground#a character calls barbie ‘white savior barbie’ after she did literally nothing to be called a white savior#and later that same character goes ‘that’s cultural appropriation’ when her DAD tries to learn spanish bc her MOTHER SPEAKS SPANISH.#their whole patriarchy plot was weird and dumb and preachy and poorly executed#and overall he plot was just.. messy ig?? idk it was a weird experience#it also felt like mattel giving themselves a pat on the back for diversity that they (to my knowledge) do not have#and everything with the kens was odd and weird and unnecessary#it was so preachy and then it turned around and did the exact opposite thing#i thought this movie was going to be about how barbie is an intergenerational experience for so many woman#and that she brings together so many woman no matter their differences#and it was almost that. esp at the beginning#and then it turned into a weird hypocritical messy story that really had no memorable message or theme#and bro ken was so badly written. everything was badly written but especially ken.#anyways there was a wonderful scene where barbie told an old lady that she was beautiful and she replied with ‘i know’#which would be lovely if the main reason Barbie was on her quest wasn’t because she was getting cellulite and on the path to becoming ‘ugly’#uhhhshfjks yeah bad movie. lots of weird messy things.#this is more than a slight little rant oopsies#my bad i’m opinionated#this isn’t even the half of it too lmao#negativity#rant#ranting#allan and weird barbie were great tho#and the acting costumes set effects cinematography etc. were outstanding#it’s just the writing that was Fucked#there were absolutely good things but so much of it was just. hm. idk i can’t rlly explain in just he tumblr tags that well lmaoo

IDW Sonic is written so horribly that even the Rogues' Gallery of villains from the other comics (especially Archie, STC and whatnot) would either mock him, beat him down to an inch of his life or do both, maybe even kill him over his ideals of 'freedom' by letting them go scot-free and cause more chaos.
Sorry Sonic but you aren't Steven Universe and the talk no jitsu is useless here. Nice try. I mean it, this Sonic is more of a villain than of a hero as he claims to be and his speeches almost sound..familiar.. Honestly, I feel like I heard this sort of gloating egotistic speech from somewhere.. kinda reminds me of someone..

Gonna be entirely honest from what ive heard abt New Soupernatural it honestly feels very unfitting for Dean to go around actually saving his mom. Like. Im SORRY to say it but the way John raised Dean and how John shaped him to be Sams Protector to be There For Sammy to raise him with the burden of "you may have to kill him for me, Dean. You're going to need to watch Sam and I need you to promise me you'll shoot him if he goes south" is really fucking integral to why Dean is Dean.
YES, we see Dean multiple times wanting a white picket fence life. We know he doesn't want to hunt. But for him to completely rewrite time. Alter a timeline feels. So disingenuous to who his character was.
Dean didn't deserve to die how he did, but what he's doing in Heaven is no better. Deans story should have ended differently yes, but not how it's going in The New Show

unfortunately, due to circumstances, i now believe that most people may be inherently evil and derive pleasure from the suffering of others
that’s literally the only explanation i can come up with

Tbh idk if anyone else feels like this but I was never expecting the Barbie movie to be massively revolutionary? Like, I always assumed due to the fact that it was being produced by a big studio and was connected to Mattel of all things that sure, it might introduce some good talking points on feminism etc to the mainstream, but those talking points were never going to be particularly new to people with a decent grasp of feminist subjects re the patriarchy.
Part of the reason I think the film has been so well received is because its very much a beginners guide. Barbie herself is experiencing the very basics of living under the patriarchy during the movie: she spends very little time in the real world, and the version of patriarchy Ken introduces to Barbieland are childish and basic. We're left to assume that after Barbie becomes human at the end, she likely gains a much more complex experience of the patriarchy beyond Gloria's brief speech and what happened under the Kens, but we don't see it because then it stops being a Barbie movie.
Like, I find the criticisms of the Barbie movie not going far enough valid, but I don't feel them as much because that was never what I expected from it. I expected a high-energy, fun, and occasionally socially keen comedy, and that's exactly what I got (it's genuinely the most fun film I've seen at the cinema in years). Hopefully there is more space for more adequate social commentary in cinema in the future.

anyway the friend that showed his ass also said that he felt the barbie movie showed gr*ta whatever had never met a man and like at the time I was like "haha you're just mad bc you're the guy who won't shut up about the godfather" and now it's more like "no you're just the exact kind of man being spoofed and you don't even know it"

@hellfre replied to a post:
hi hello would you mind if i wrote something with this premise based on your comic??? I'd give full credits for the idea of course but i can already tell this is going to make me have brainrot so if i actually draft something I'd like to know if I'd have your consent to post something based on this 🥺
hi! first of all im really flattered that my work inspired you to write something based on my work! you're welcome to do so :)
this is just my personal opinion but for me, fandom itself is a group exercise, and so i dont mind people building upon my ideas or creating things in conversation with my ideas, bc a lot of my stuff is inevitably built on more than just the text—even if i wasnt on tumblr, a lot of my ideas abt naruto would be based in my talks w/ my best friend!
i do very much appreciate being credited for the inspiration though, and am glad that my art motivated u to want to make something!!
the only thing i will say is that while my work may have inspired this, u should not at all attempt to keep me in mind while creating it, make it as you want to make it, for you, based on what excites u in writing!

Just finished Ruth by Elizabeth Gaskell and I’m not religious but her religious commentary is soo good. Like the idea that religion and faith are about forgiveness and kindness towards ourselves and others and that we’re human and make mistakes but we should be allowed the chance to improve (with a particular emphasis that WOMEN should get this chance equally with men). And like that morality and society don’t line up. There was one line where a character sort of implied that if enough people were behind something to make it a societally accepted wrong then it must be and the book spent the whole time rebutting that. No, society doesn’t dictate right and wrong. And it’s not even just about religion, it’s morality and whose you choose to follow
