Sorry not if you were ever asked this. For 03 what is your opinion on each of the boys?

Hey! I don't think I've been asked this on tumblr so, time to go on a Rant™️

('03 is my favorite turtle show. It's just so goooood but okay specifically about the turtles--)

oh right i got really long I should add in a readmore--

Gonna start with Mikey. Ah Mikey. I think I called him a gremlin troll of a turtle in some tags earlier and I stand by that. This turtle wakes up every day going 'how can I make someone else (mostly Raph) chose violence'. He is good at reading people and he makes that everyone else's problem. Weaponized Incompetence King. I love him so much. He was my favorite on my first watch through but I don't think I have a favorite any more.

But also he's a good boy!! He wants to help people out. I was rewatching the series but I didn't really get past season 1 so I'm just thinking about the first Turtle Titan episode. He got an idea on how they could be COOL but nobody else was down for it, so fine he'll do it on his own--

10/10 turtle. Menace to society. Probably the smartest Mikey in the turtle multiverse.

Raph. Oh sweetie. Boy has so many feelings and struggles with dealing with them. 😭Relatable. He learns and grows over the course of the series and I'm happy for him. Big softie on the inside, prickly cactus on the outside. Feel like a lot of his anger is just other feelings turning into anger because y'know. Emotions Hard.

He has his struggles and his problems but he loves his brothers. I love his dynamics with everyone. Fighting with Mikey, the way he manages to actually be Soft with Donnie. The way he manages to even out into someone that helps Leo keep his balance over just. Challenging him in a way that sets Leo off. (Remembering the fight over the sword Shredder gave Leo early on now--)

10/10 turtle too. Goober. Not as funny as he thinks he is (and that only makes him more endearing.)

Leo. Oh no honey. Sweetheart. Baby boy. This boy goes THROUGH IT. I've seen a meta about his Trauma and how he's a lot more laughing and joking around pre-Window and then we don't see him lightening up again till Fast Forwards/BTTS. And yeah I can see it. This boy thinks DEEP. Maybe a bit too much so. Internalization King. Give him a nice cup of tea, a warm blanket and a hug please.

He's just so weighted down with the task of keeping his brothers alive. Mikey's the one who wanted to be a superhero but Leo's probably the one who actually has the most 'heroic' temperament. Very keen sense of 'bad things are happening and we can do something about it'. But also 'bad things may happen to us if we meddle too much'. (Which, they do. And then they all almost die because of calls Leo made so of course he handles that extremely well.)

10/10 turtle. Daddy's boy got his Autistic Swag. Ninjitsu is his special interest.

Don. Ah, Donny. (Which is apparently how it's spelled in 03.) Kind soul. Sweetheart. Precious. Absolute menace. Do not let his mild manners fool you. This boy is insane. LEAST common sense out of the four of them. Thinks that playing a flight simulator makes him qualified to fly an actual helicopter. (If Raph had hair Don would absolutely be making it go grey.) Mikey is a menace on purpose. Don? Don thinks he's the sensible, rational one. Which just makes him even more terrifying.

He's such a kind, sweet soul. Loves building his vehicles lol. He's got the combo of being fairly even-tempered and also more mild mannered so he's good at not making any Bickers worse among his family. I love how they all dropped everything and went to check on him in that one episode where he was stressed out and yelled at everyone. 😭

10/10 turtle. Let's not forget this boy had his own PTSD arc in the Back to the Sewers season. Of all places.

THE VIKI SUBTITLES GIVE PANIC MODE MENG YAO A BRAIN CELL

"It was Xue Yang who killed them" (referring to the other corpses, as opposed to "Xue Yang killed him" referring solely to the captain) is a reasonable thing to say here! Nie Mingjue just saw him kill the captain and there's no getting around that, but clarifying that Xue Yang killed all the other guards matches (and bolsters!) the story Meng Yao tells in the throne room: that the captain let Xue Yang go and Meng Yao confronted him over that.

(My personal headcanon has always been that Meng Yao snapped and killed the captain in frustration after the captain's refusal to follow his orders resulted in Xue Yang's escape, so I feel validated by this development lol.)

I'm yelling and shouting over your post about FFXII. Ashe's single mindedness, and how her revenge was meant to be used by powers beyond her, has always stuck with me. And she realized it and relented!

Not gonna get into Vaan at this time of night on a Sunday, but I did like their scenes together, where she's allowed to be a bit righteous, very angry, and this little kid looks at her like, "okay, but what if no?".

like, i adore how it's handled -- your rage is entirely justified, but it makes you easy to manipulate. because it does! the occuria absolutely play to her righteous fury and try to mold her into their puppet! but they handle it without ever suggesting that ashe is wrong to be angry. it's just that she has to let it go for the sake of her people and her future.

it's very similar to scar's arc in fma:b -- you cannot forgive, but you must learn to abide. to move on.

i liked how they played vaan with and against ashe because vaan realizes much earlier that his anger has left him adrift, and if he wants to have a future, he has to let it go and move on. but the moment at the pharos when gabranth says that the dead demand justice, and he and ashe look at each other and they both breathe out, as they both realize what vaan says a few moments later: what would it change? no amount of vengeance will bring the dead back to life. there is no amount of violence they could bring to the empire that would un-kill their loved ones. it would just be more blood on an already blood-soaked battlefield.

that scene at the pharos is one of my favorite video game cutscenes of all time, when ashe cuts through "rasler's" ghost, i am no false saint for you to use!, how she talks about the dalmasca she wanted back, and sighs as she drops the sword, letting it settle on her shoulders. it's both a triumph and a surrender, as she realizes that she has to let this chance for ultimate power go, that the price tag -- of being the puppet of the occuria, to her people's detriment -- would be too high.

ffxii has some flaws -- i feel like the story lost its focus around the draklor laboratory and never quite regained it, i feel like penelo and fran were under-utilized, and i have strong feelings about how bahamut should have been an esper rather than an airship -- but it has such a great, meaty plot and fantastic characters, amazing gameplay and sidequests, and frankly i could forgive every flaw of the story for the sake of ashe's character arc alone. i cannot stress enough how phenomenally rare it is to have a female character allowed to have such burning fury within her, without judgment or condescension. she is such an amazing character, i adore her.

I love him so much and yet I say so little about him...I really should ramble about him more! There's just something so endearing about him that I love. It might be in part that he was my first five star when I started playing, but like, there's a shy sweetness to him that very few people get to see that I adore. And how protective and observant he is about those he cares for, even if he tries to hide/brush it off as "I'm a yaksha/adeptus, this is my duty". Like, that's not the only reason! You care! Even if it scares you because you don't want to hurt the people you care about!

Sigh...putting him in my lap and letting him take a little birdy nap because he deserves it 💕

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

Oh there are quite a few I'd love to see become a comic or film. What a decision to make picking between my favorite children!!!

But honestly, I might choose my Tron Legacy fic We Are Pilots because that franchise has been in development hell compared to everywhere else I dabbled in, and because it was my first big completed project since high school. That fic got my foot in a LOT of doors and remains a dearly beloved that deserves everything I'm now giving dinluke and the Dangerous Dreams series.

5. how did they feel when they met their child for the first time?  

una was caught off guard at first? as she was not aware until VERY VERY late that she was with child? and twins for that matter? i do think it is a moment for her where she realizes that in all she has sacrificed and will that it will all be worthwhile for them. and now the stakes are much higher now for her? she'll tear the world down for them! and her dragon the cannibal is right there with her! i think that surprisingly enough to her she falls in love with them at first sight!

8. are there any interests that they share with their kids? if not, how do they nurture their kids’ interests? 

vaelor and helaenya (named after his best friend baelor iovannas son and his first wife and una's closest friend!) both shared una's love for dragonriding! as the twins had twin dragons of their own! the twins naslaarum and vaslaarum ! the dragons, a gift from vilemyr as una's mother being a scion of house maedhros. though vaelor was a more solitary child and preferred to take to the skies on his own, hela and una would fly together! hela also had a fascination with the arcane much like her grandmother (and totally not her mother hehe) and that was something they shared! vaelor, much like the namesake that inspired his, aspired and became a knight and was actually a member of aegon iii's kingsguard for a brief period, and though una was hesitant given his parentage she would offer wisdom on what knighthood meant and required!

11. how do they celebrate their kids birthdays? who goes overboard with the gift giving?

i would say that i think aeggy would be the most likely to gift the most? like anything they had their eyes on and took interest in that he could recall he would send to be found and gift them to the twins! she wanted to offer them a bit of normalcy in the midst of the dance and after the dance so a soiree or two would be something I could see her having for them! <3
