"techno was sure he was in the right" yeah thats the issue FJDKSLFJKL /lh
nah hes a good character i just get Frustrated w him always being so sure hes Right and has Done Nothing Wrong Ever abt things, especially since i used to really REALLY like him. but like that flaw on top of some other stuff kept piling up to the point i just couldnt Stand it :/
bc he IS wrong a lot! and thats okay he should have flaws! but i as the audience am so frustrated by it! and he comes off as an asshole bc of his refusal to see from any other perspective!
and ur fully right abt the execution thing being on schlatt dont get me wrong, my issues is more w stuff like doomsday, tommy ""betraying"" him, his jokes abt having never shot a firework before or killing no one on doomsday, etc. doing that when ppl got genuinely messed up by your actions without ever considering their pov makes you!! look!! like!! an!! asshole!!
im sorry i dont mean to techno crit in your askbox at all, i just. (horse by the ocean) man.
feel free to delete this and not answer it bc again, i Get not wanting to techno discourse 100%. i just wanted to vent to someone about it i guess
see, here's where i'm coming from. i've gotten to the point where i've stopped caring whether characters are in the right or not? like characters are supposed to be in the wrong, they're supposed to make mistakes or be misguided. that's what makes them interesting to me.
you're frustrated by it, but i find it kind of fascinating how techno's view of the world is so filtered through his emotional subjective lens, he misreads other's intentions, he mischaracterizes them frequently, he doesn't understand why others do what they do. i like that. i find it interesting. (and endearing...)
he's so upset by people not considering his own feelings and perspective, which of course he is, everyone would be, yet he never does the same to others? i've stopped being frustrated by it, i've started liking that about him. without it, where would the conflict be?
and he has questioned himself, reevaluated his Praxis let's say, there hasn't been much syndicate stuff yet (can you guys please stream people are making a million takes based on like Nothing), but that's kind of the point of the syndicate, techno reevaluating himself, and his methods. (there's a good post by a c!techno enthusiast about this btw, that i agree with, boop)
i don't think it makes sense for him to feel regret, or remorse, he stands by the things he did, and he probably always will. and that's fine. i've said this before now, but really all i want to see from him is understanding other peoples point of view, which he rarely does. he can understand where other people might've been coming from, and sympathize with them, and still stand by his actions. the only thing i can ever see him be apologetic for is for being an asshole sometimes, or misunderstanding others, but even then like, i don't really care if that doesn't happen?
what does frustrate me however is when the fanbase is exactly the same, they claim he's always in the right ever (tbh they're entitled to their opinion), and they never consider any other characters POV and take all of techno's emotionally charged judgements of others and their intentions at face value. (EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. STOP DOING THIS. I BEG OF YOU.)
