How To Get Rid Of Your Self-Limiting Beliefs
Tumblr media
“It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power!”
- Robert T Kiyosaki
Our beliefs are so powerful that they dictate the direction of our lives. We only see what we believe to be true. We only attract what we believe we deserve to receive. Our beliefs are the lens through which we see the world. Unless we change our beliefs, it is unlikely that our situations will change. Our beliefs have been formed since the day we were born. Our environment, upbringing, education, and experiences have all come together to create who we are today. And just like positive experiences add to who we are, negative experiences tend to create walls within us for protection.
I remember when I was in primary school, I participated in several school competitions from art to math to science. My dad told me that the secret to becoming a winner is to think like a winner. And the winner does not let doubt, particularly self-doubt, enter their mind. I grew up with a great life coach, whom I’m blessed to call ‘dad.’ But even then, I still had a lot of self-limiting beliefs creep in. I had doubts, insecurities, and fears. As I got older, I started pinpointing what those limiting beliefs were and tried to get rid of them one by one.
Telling yourself that one of your beliefs is invalid can feel like you are lying to and robbing yourself. But the fundamental truth is that beliefs are at the core of who we are.
Here are the steps I had to go through each time I worked on removing a self-limiting belief.
1. Identify what your limiting beliefs are.
Identify the beliefs that you want to work on and overcome.
Examples of such beliefs are:
I am not good enough.
I won't ever find love and be in a happy, committed relationship.
I don’t believe I can start my own business and make it succeed.
I want to ask for what I want, but I believe I will be rejected again.
I can never make money from my passion.
I don’t trust the opposite sex.
Life is unfair.
It can be extremely hard and we may feel that it would be very difficult to try to challenge these beliefs. But if you’re reading this now, it means that you realize some of your beliefs are holding you back in life and you want to work through them.
Congratulations! It’s time to make some more progress.
2. Identify the root causes of those beliefs
Now that you know what your limiting beliefs are, it’s time to uncover how these were formed in the first place. Who or what planted the seed within you?
If you often find yourself feeling that you’re not good enough even though no one is saying that to you now, can you identify who in your childhood said that to you? Did your parents or caretakers make you feel like you’re not good enough? Did someone at school say so? What about now? Do you still find that you subconsciously surround yourself with people who think that you’re not good enough?
If you don’t believe that you will ever find love and be in a healthy, loving relationship, is it because you grew up with divorced parents? How did your last relationship end? Are you still hung up on your last relationship? Have you worked through your intimacy and abandonment issues?
If you don’t believe you can start your own business and that you will likely fail, root causes may be that (1) you don’t believe in your own capability. You don’t have enough self-confidence and self-belief. (2) you’ve seen many businesses close to you fail (3) people around you, family and close friends, believe that starting a business and becoming successful is something that one in a million can do.
If you are too scared to ask for what you want because you have been rejected too many times in the past, identify why you got rejected. A lot of times, this has nothing to do with you but to do with them and their criteria. And if it’s in regards to love, remember, people cannot give what they do not have within themselves. A lot of the time, it’s about them and their circumstances in life, not about you.
If you don’t believe that you can make money from your passion, it could be because (1) you don’t believe in yourself (2) you have been told to believe that passions are not to be pursued professionally. This belief could also be passed onto you from your parents because parents oftentimes pass on their beliefs to their children.
If you don’t trust the opposite sex, it could be because you’ve been cheated on before, you grew up with a parent who cheats and witnessed the pain, or you have friends who sleep around so you learn the tricks of the game.
If you believe life is unfair, this could be because you focus on what you don’t have and what you lack rather than being grateful for what you do have. This could be because you compare other people’s front-row highlights to your behind-the-scene lows. This could be because you always focus on the negatives. This pattern likely was formed while growing up. You may have grown up with a caretaker or a parent whose view of the world was negative. Therefore, you started adopting those beliefs and focused on the negatives as well.
Tumblr media
3. Challenge your beliefs.
Now you’ve identified your beliefs and the cause of them, it’s time to challenge those beliefs by finding the other side of the argument. Most of the time, we surround ourselves with people with the same beliefs. So our limiting beliefs get reassured and reaffirmed, making us feel that our beliefs are right and that it is the only way to see the world. But this is not true. As you’re reading this, you’ve probably already realized that you have limiting beliefs that are holding you back and you want to get rid of them for good. In order to change your beliefs, you must change your environment. Remember, we are a product of our environment and our brain subconsciously mirrors the people and things we are in closest relation to.
For example:
If you don’t believe that you can start your own business, then start looking at businesses that succeed. Make friends with and talk to entrepreneurs who have started businesses and are successful. Surround yourself with people whose beliefs challenge your own limiting belief as much as you can so that you eventually erase your old belief from your mind and adopt the new belief.
If you don’t trust the opposite sex, then this unconsciously makes you attract the opposite sex who are not to be trusted. Your limiting belief in this area also sets a low standard for what you should and should not accept which does not go with what your heart truly desires. Sometimes we start tricking ourselves as a self-defense mechanism so that we do not get hurt. Trust issues are hard to overcome and I still combat them myself. Fully giving trust to the opposite sex right away can be hard when you’ve been hurt in the past. Challenge this belief by becoming friends with men and women who do not play around and only date one person at a time. By doing this, you will start to see the other side of the coin. Your existing belief will get challenged and slowly you will start changing your belief.
If you don’t believe you can make money from your passion, then start making friends with people who successfully turn their passion into a profitable business. Learn from them. Absorb the good energy from them. See how they do things. Surround yourself with people whose beliefs challenge your old beliefs. This will slowly change your beliefs.
If you believe life is unfair and realize that it’s because you have a pattern of focusing on the negatives, then start by removing yourself from negative people. A lot of the time, we continue to hang out with people with the same beliefs as us because it’s comfortable. But comfort is exactly what’s stopping us from growing and making changes in life. Most of our learnings are unconscious. Hence, we need to be mindful of the environment we put ourselves in. Realize that some old attachments can be let go of if they continue to bring us down. Make room for new connections in your life - those who embody the thought, emotional, and behavioral patterns you want to adopt. If you want to be more positive, surround yourself with positive people. This might feel strange and not comfortable in the beginning. But slowly, you will get to see a new perspective, and you will be able to see the glass half full, rather than half empty. Or even better, you will start being thankful that you even have a glass!
4. Keep a journal for your thoughts & beliefs.
Changing habits is hard. Changing our beliefs is harder. But once we can change a belief, our habit will automatically change. This is because our beliefs lay as a baseline for our thoughts which drive our emotions and actions.
In the beginning, it will feel like you’re forcing yourself to believe in something that you do not believe in at all. Try to forget the old belief. Remind yourself of the good reasons why the new belief is more believable. Surround yourself with people who embody the new belief. Read content that reinforces the new belief.
Journal. Observe and record your thoughts. Pay attention to your inner voice. Observe the little things in life that could help you reinforce the new belief. When voices of self-doubts come up, try shutting them down and canceling those thoughts out. Make your new inner voice louder than your old inner voice through positive affirmations and repetitive visualization.
Slowly, one day, when you successfully adopt the new belief, you will feel like a brand new person. You will even forget that you used to have that old belief and what it felt like to have a belief that held you back for so long.
Our Happiness Planner app now has a voice note feature that is designed to help you practice empowering your own inner voice. All voice files can be downloaded directly to your computer from our web app.
Tumblr media
Our Growth Mindset, Self-love, and Confidence Journal are also designed to help you tackle your self-limiting beliefs. Pick the one that is most suitable for your situation.
Remember, it all starts in the mind - and you have the power over that. You just have to keep stretching its limit.
“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.”

Pokemon World Building - School
School isn’t a topic touched on much in the Pokémon world, so I decided to do a little world building myself. Everything is going under the cut since this got rather lengthy.
Primary/Secondary Schooling:
Primary schools (and secondary schools) are commonly found in town across every region in the Pokémon where children all taught the concepts of reading, writing, math, science and history of their regions. It isn’t until a child reaches the age of 7 that they can finally enroll into a Pokémon Academy Program. However, if a child decides to not participate, they have the option of applying later on in their lives, including after they’ve graduating from secondary school. This is pretty similar to our schooling with a person later having the option to attend college, drop out if they choose, or go to their career directly after graduating.
Pokémon Academy Program:
When it comes time to enroll into trainer school, a child is allowed two options: full time or part time.
Full Time:
In this situation, an inspiring trainer or just any child who wishes to learn more about Pokémon, enroll into a trainer school full time. They still cover the basics of what they would learn back in their primary school, but it begins to touch on the subjects of Pokémon a lot further. This is when children are first introduced to the starter Pokémon of their regions, type match ups, the fundamental usage of items, the early elements of battle, how to handle and care for Pokémon, and the different trainer classifications (ex: coordinator, breeder, type specialist). Each class can be considered an elective as though children attend to school to learn more about Pokémon, education is still looked as a priority to keep parents happy.
When a child reaches the age of 10, if a child chooses to go on a Pokémon journey, they are allowed to fall under the part time category. However, if their birthday misses the deadline of when they can obtain their Pokémon in April, they must hold off on applying for part-time until they have officially acquired a trainer’s license. This applies differently if they already had their trainer license earlier, so in this case, they are eligible to apply. If a child chooses to not go on a journey, which is typically rare for full time students, they can continue taking courses that expand on further topics in the Pokémon World until the reach graduating age.
Part Time:
For children who are still enrolled in regular primary school, their schedule is split to allow them to come to the Pokémon Academy midday. Their Pokémon courses move at a slower pace in comparison to children who are enrolled fulltime as usually students enrolled in this aren’t looking to be a trainer or have anything to do with Pokémon. They generally enroll just so they have more than the basic concept about Pokémon. These individuals may have a trainer’s license in their possession, but training and battling are not in their priorities. They are able to continue taking the courses until they reach graduating age, or when they feel that it is unnecessary to continue them. Usually, one is required to take courses under this enrollment until they are of the ages of 14 or 15.
However, if a student has fallen into this category as they have decided to go on a journey, it is run rather differently. Their courses are no longer solely focused on Pokémon  concepts, but fall under the regular classes one would learn if they continued primary school. As primary/secondary school don’t offer part time classes, this is how a trainer/coordinator/breeder etc. continue learning the subjects of math, history, science, and language arts (writing/composition/grammar). Since they’re on the road, most trainers have to use the web to keep up with their courses and usually do their checking in once they reach a Pokémon Center. This allows them to not only access their school work, but to also turn in assignments online as well as contact their instructors for other reasons. This is required for most trainers until they reach the age of 16 for those in Unova, Kalos and Alola, but 15 for those in other regions (Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, & Hoenn).
Dropping Out of Pokémon Academy:
At this age, trainers are able to make the choice to continue their education so they are able to graduate with their secondary degree when they reach 17/18. However, it they made the decision to quit their studies, they are not held accountable. Most will eventually try and obtain the degree later on for other career statuses if they choose, over if a trainer is feeling that they want to complete school entirely, they can test out of future courses in order to obtain a diploma. This is generally common among trainers who have different paths in mind to become professors, breeders, and doctors as they would still have to attend college. It allows them to cut down their normal school time so they can apply for college earlier on.
Variations Among Regions – Pathways:
Pathways allow for students to branch out and focus on other careers in the Pokemon World if their full focus isn’t on battling. A student can usually apply for a pathway as early as when they first enroll into their Pokemon Academy at the age of 7, but usually most don’t until their around the age of 8 after they have learn about the different career paths. By participating in a pathway, children can take more classes that focuses on their career and it helps prepares them for it instead of the league.
Contests: For Sinnoh and Hoenn, children can apply to follow the coordinator path while attending school.  Kanto and Johto later adopted the pathways around the time they began holding contests in their regions. This allows them to continue taking the regular classes like most students in Pokémon Academy, but a lot of their electives will focus on Coordinator aspects as well like appeals, Pokéblock/Poffin making techniques, and grooming. Aspiring coordinators are usually lumped together until the age of 9 where they are then separated into the different coordinator classifications of coordinator, stylist, and contest idol. This allow children who may leave to go on journeys at the age of 10 to still get extra knowledge on how the contest realm works for their career.  As children would usually get to participate in a battling class in the normal pathway, children also get the time to practice performing with school Pokémon or their own and competing with each other at the end of the year.
Showcases: Only in Kalos will children have the opportunity to participate in this pathway which is only open to girls at this time. However, boys are still allowed to take some of the classes as electives, but it isn’t fairly common. In this, children learn the concepts being a Pokémon Performer, learning different ways on how the competitions can be ran. Students usually learn about how to groom their Pokémon as well as how to come up with routines. As stages and themes are always changing in Showcases, students usually get to spend a few months learning about different themes so they can hone their skills. Like coordinators, they also learn how to make Poké Puffs. As children would usually get to participate in a battling class in the normal pathway, children also get the time to practice performing with school Pokémon or their own and competing with each other at the end of the year
Pokéathlons: Even though it is connected to Kanto, Johto was the only region to teach about the fundamentals of Pokéathlon. As time passed, Sinnoh also adopted it as a pathway for future trainers to participate in. Since it is very athletic driven, it requires children to take a yearly physical in case of health issues. Children in this pathway learn about the different course that can happen in a Pokéathlon, as well as events and how to train for them. As children would usually get to participate in a battling class in the normal pathway, children also get the time to practice training with a school owned Pokemon or their own, and competing with each other at the end of the year.
Pokémon Musicals: Currently, Unova is the only region to offer this as a pathway, but it can be found to be pretty similar for students in the contest and showcase pathways. Students are generally taught the concepts on how to dress, groom and perform. It is common that children will also learn dancing while a part of the pathway as it is a common stage in Pokémon Musicals. They also learn how to give each other reviews so they can work on their concept of taking constructive criticism as it is something they are going to receive the most in the career. As children would usually get to participate in a battling class in the normal pathway, children also get the time to practice training & performing with a school owned Pokémon or their own, and competing with each other at the end of the year.
College:
College in the Pokemon world is pretty similar to our world, however there are courses and majors offered about Pokémon so those pursuing professions with Pokémon can achieve their goals. The time frame depends on the degree, but most students generally graduate after a 4 year time span with a bachelors, unless they went for a technical degree then it is 2. In general, most people are set with their lives by that point, but for some people, they may strive further for higher degrees and continue school for a longer period of time.

Random Thoughts on Bass
youtube
I’ve gone wayyy down a bass wormhole, so you’ll all have to deal.
Technically, bass came extremely easy considering all the years I played guitar and had already known how to build intermediately complex basslines.  However, I don’t know if it’s DNA or memory residue, but I’ve found myself still drilling down technique quite a bit in practice.
There is a law of diminishing returns for a reason, though.
***
If you watched the above video (and trust me, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t), you’d see what seemed to be a pretty solid case and demonstration of a technique that could be incredibly beneficial to a bassist playing more complex music.
Years ago, I wrote about the idea of musical geometry and how some of the more authoritarian composers like Bach, Beethoven and Wagner would build these musical architectures out of harmonies and the piece’s form.  All the different elements come together in synchronized harmony to create a piece of music.  Here’s a simplified visualization.
Tumblr media
Theoretically, this idea is evident in how ideas are formed, established, reinforced and how they exist in harmony when performed.  Thinking of Bach’s music in terms of fractals is especially correlated as it’s perfectly constructed with very little ornamentation or “unimportant” notes.
Tumblr media
And when I’ve talked about acoustics, I’ve talked about how lower pitched notes have “bigger” sound waves.  Music is a physical being...it is physical sound waves moving through the air.  When you look at sound waves, volume is determined by amplitued (how high the sound waves crest) while pitch is determined by wavelength (distance between high points).  It’s why orchestras can have two sections of 18 violins, and be totally cool with 8 bassists.
Tumblr media
What I’m getting at with this is this...
Playing bass like in the video at the top is such a distorted, disfigured, tortured fashion of what a bass player should be, I feel bad for the guy.  The amount of time and energy and intellect and practice and frustration it took to learn how to play like that is hard to sum up.  Even for a prodigy like Matthew Garrison.
Which leads to the most important question I believe he answered incorrectly...WHY?
***
He believes, and I don’t think he’s being falsely modest, that he wasn’t born with good enough physical ability to play bass at the speed the other musicians in Joe Zawinul’s band (keys, sax and other horns, drums) could play with.  By adopting this 4-fingered right hand technique, and playing a bass on a stand we’ll talk about in a second, he could play these blazingly fast sax and keyboard lines.
...if they were looking for someone to play those blazingly fast sax and keyboard lines, they wouldn’t have hired a bassist.
Matthew Garrison kept his job because, like I said, he’s a prodigy bassist.  Intellectually, he’s on a level that is really, really hard to explain.  Like, remember how I explained theoretical fractals?  He takes complexity and makes fractals with more complexity.
Here he is playing Coltrane’s “Giant Steps”...one of the most difficult set of harmonic changes that exist in Western music, while still being musical...in 7/8 time, and accompanying himself soling with these crazy chords.
youtube
***
Yall in the comments have criticized me for being overly technical or not embracing the beauty of simplicity, and trust me...I totally get it.  I watch a video like this and totally understand where you’re coming from.
I’m completely unmoved by this.  I can appreciate the technique and mastery of theory in real time, but I never want to listen to this again.
It’s hard to criticize Garrison because he’s so advanced.  He mentioned Jaco though...Jaco played in Zawinul’s band (that’s putting it generously...the truth is closer to Jaco is the guy Zawinul hired Garrison to replicate), and he didn’t need this contorted 4-finger technique, nor did he need some douchey guitar stand instead of a strap.
He might have been playing alien jazz shit, but Jaco was down-deep, a redneck from Florida playing Chitlins Circuit funk.  He always had soul and he always had a groove.  Jaco took bass to new places, but he was always a bassist and filled that role first and foremost.
This music has no groove.  Garrison rarely has any groove.  He has these flashy solos, these advanced concepts, these intricately arranged parts...but not a single bit of it is memorable.  And all I can help but think is if he wanted to solo this bad, and spent this much time on it...why is he playing bass to begin with?
***
Take a look at his bass.  It’s a no-doubt work of art in terms of craftsmanship, and I personally love Fodera basses, so I’m not going to call them garbage but...
Remember how I talked about the beauty of simplicity when talking about the Fender Precision Bass?  One pickup, one volume and one tone control...and that’s it.  And while I love Fodera’s and they’re played by the best bassists on earth, something seems contradictory about them...
They’re made of these insanely beautiful tone woods, which they painstakingly go through the work of explaining the sonic differences of...but then they slap active pickups, a pre-amp, and so many electronics that it needs TWO 9v batteries to power.
Why use incredible tone woods if you’re going to cover it all up with solid-state electric stuff?
That big block in the middle of his two pickups?  It’s called a “ramp.”  What it allows a bassist to do is to minimize the amount of effort expended to pluck the string...thereby reducing the time your finger is on the string and allowing you to play faster.
Again, you have these incredible tone woods already covered up by electronics, and now you install something that reduces the vibrations of the strings even more?  Like, the farther a signal has to travel, the more filters and preamps it goes through, the more its original signal gets degraded...look at the comparisons of a P-Bass’ electronics to the ones you’ll see in a Fodera.
Here’s the Fodera.
Tumblr media
Here’s the P-Bass...
Tumblr media
I’m not saying Fodera’s are garbage (farrrrr from that)...just that there’s contradictory things going on with their design, things that are meant to improve aspects of a bass’ performance that aren’t an important role that the instrument should serve.  A good defensive first baseman is a nice luxury, but if you hired that player to hit 40 HR’s and smack the ball all over the field but they’re Doug Minkevitch slapping singles .250 the time instead, is that really a good thing?
In a vacuum having extremely developed niche skills are fantastic.  But in a team setting, if there’s not that balance between all the different sets of skills, it’s going to be hard to be successful.  Same with a musical team where the fulcrum of your lineup (the bass) is busy trying to show off defensive skills like a shortstop who was built to do such things.
***
Which leads me to my deep dive into bass culture.
It’s just a whole damn lot of missing the fucking point.  Bass is the ultimate BIG PICTURE instrument...even when you look at the bass notes’ sound waves, you see that it’s about the BIG PICTURE.  What Garrison and a lot of bass culture do is focus on the tiny, minute details in the fractals underneath a microscope on this atomic, granular level...and in the process...completely miss the fucking point of PLAYING BASS.
Who the fuck gives a shit about a bassist tapping?  Even slap...the ultimate parlor trick...is nothing more than “look at me!” wankery.  Is that bad?  I don’t know if it is or not, but the point is that every time a bassist does this flashy nonsense or steps into the spotlight to do some slappy wappy bullshit, the music loses a fundamental element.
The bass is a foundational instrument, theoretically speaking.  It defines the key, it sets the groove or rhythm, and it serves as the musical liason between the composition, the beat and the melody.  Jaco served this role in a visible fashion, but he did not abandon the crucial responsibility a bassist serves in a band.
***
youtube
youtube
Listen to the first 30 seconds of the Wayne Shorter piece and then listen to as much as you can stomach of the bass duet version.
The whole purpose of this post was to get old man lawn angry at the idea of missing the fucking point.  You have these two bassists with more ability than ever is necessary jamming out to one of the absolutely iconic bass riffs in jazz and you never would have known it.
They’re even playing the same notes as the groove.  But there isn’t any.  There’s nothing there.  This music is soulless and vapid.  You have this faux artistic black and white camera nonsense that’s just as unnecessary as these two bassists creating a musical mudpit because fast soloing simply doesn’t work as well in lower registers.
Think about it...would you try to beat a Ferrari off the line at a red light in a Jeep Wrangler?  Then why waste time souping your Wrangler up so that it will?
Meanwhile bassists Paul McCartney is a millionaire while Sting and Gene Simmons are both worth over $300 million.  There are a bunch of bands who could use bassists as talented as these two guys to make music, and yet they’d rather try to teach a dolphin how to walk on a leash.

Shameless Season 11 Episode 10 Review: DNR
https://ift.tt/2QNQ1SA
This Shameless review contains spoilers.
Shameless Season 11 Episode 10
“Why is everybody running? Nobody is chasing you fuckers.”
Shameless was designed to reflect a more unpolished and realistic class of society that often gets overlooked or marginalized. It’s a show that sets out to humanize the alleged derelicts of society and showcase the grounded and prevalent difficulties that plague these types of people. Shameless has done an excellent job at representation towards lower class families and communities for over a decade, which makes it so thoroughly perplexing that as Shameless heads into its final episodes that a major plot revolves around the Gallaghers disposing of Edward Hopper’s iconic Nighthawks painting to avoid federal incarceration.
That’s a realistic, pulled from the headlines style problem that most of Chicago’s South Side loses sleep over, right? I’d honestly like to believe that the true reason that John Wells’ American remake of Shameless is set in Chicago isn’t because of the social disparity, violence, or poverty levels, but actually because the plan was always to rob the Art Institute of Chicago and end up in this gonzo situation.
To be fair, I don’t exactly hate this storyline and on some level I respect the sheer audacity of it, but it’s just such a strange, confusing direction for the series to take this late in the game. It’s something that works as a throwaway gag at the end of the previous episode, but it’s a different story when Shameless seriously dwells on the ramifications of this joke. An added element to this predicament is that Frank’s dementia leaves the Gallaghers uncertain if Frank did in fact steal this piece of art or if his oblivious disbelief should be taken at face value. Again, there are countless ways to explore Frank’s dementia and failing memory in a way that feels genuine, but to have the biggest complication that’s come from it being that he’s unsure if he’s pulled off the art heist of the century or being set up is a bonkers decision.
The reckless heist that Frank either did or didn’t pull off does speak to “DNR’s” larger message of living for nobody else but yourself, whether that means getting a new apartment, moving to a different state, rebelling against the establishment, or not being resuscitated when the lights finally go out. “DNR” is still too preoccupied with the past, but it’s the first time that these characters truly begin to look towards the future and it gives this episode of Shameless a powerful energy that’s been absent for much of this final season.

Shameless Season 11 Episode 8 Review: Cancelled
By Daniel Kurland
In fact, a lot of “DNR” has the vibe of a series that’s rapidly trying to execute a bunch of backdoor pilots (get ready for ten seasons of Kev and Vee in Shameless: Louisville), even if that’s not actually the show’s intention. It’s entertaining to get tastes of all of these hypothetical Gallagher futures, but the episode does lose itself a little as everybody goes through a comparable experience. The most extreme case of this is certainly Shameless’ extended look at Vee and Kevin in Louisville, but it’s also arguably the most entertaining material that “DNR” considers.
The Gallaghers all look for new beginnings that are still within the familiar context of Chicago, but Kevin and Vee’s situation proposes that Chicago is actually holding them back and it’s become an outdated feature to their lives. Kevin’s excitement towards Louisville’s pecan waffles and baseball passion is also pretty adorable and the happiest that he’s looked in ages. It’s quite exciting to see Vee and Kevin open themselves up in this way and learn that Chicago is actually their appendix, not their heart; it’s unnecessary.
Lip is ready to move on with his life too, but his transition is considerably rockier than Kevin and Vee’s. The irony that Lip is having the hardest time with his future even though he’s the one that got what he wanted by selling the house isn’t lost. He’s become a bit of Shameless’ punching bag in the second half of this season and the impact is felt when he has to sell his bike for a fraction of the price because he’s hit such hard times.
He looks like he’s about to burst into tears and it’s the culmination of the broken veneer that’s formed over him this season. Lip’s decisions over the past few episodes have been incredibly frustrating, but the hollow version of himself that he’s been forced to become feels like an excessive punishment. It’s frightening to picture Lip’s family five or ten years down the road and the type of alcoholic he could revert to if he still harbors such hostile feelings.
Debbie also finds herself in a very vulnerable position, but for completely different reasons than her siblings. I’ve been incredibly ambivalent towards Debbie’s journey this season and likely a little too hard on her, but the anxiety that grips her when she begins to look at new apartments for her and Franny is actually really compelling. Debbie fundamentally doesn’t know how to deal with all of this extra space and living on her own in an environment that’s not littered with other people.
What’s supposed to be an inspiring and empowering new start for Debbie decays into a mild panic attack. Debbie voiced her concern to Lip over losing touch with everyone after the house gets sold, but it’s an effective contrast in an episode where everyone else is excited over where their freedom will take them. However, the repeating music cue that accentuates her loneliness like it’s “Song of Silence” from Arrested Development is a little much.
Debbie absorbs Liam’s feelings of abandonment from the previous episode and he instead finds himself in complicated territory with Frank. Ideally, Frank intends to coach Liam on how to get into a STEM school and prepare for his future, but the lines get blurred regarding who’s teaching whom. Pretty much all of Frank’s material this season has been a delight, but any time he’s paired up with Liam it’s even more electric. The protective relationship that the two have formed with each other is a dynamic that really works.
Liam has kept an eye out on Frank this season while others have been too preoccupied with their changing lives. He’s also the only member of the family that seems to be able to truly get through to Frank. It’s comforting that Liam is savvy enough to filter out the nonsense from Frank that he knows isn’t helpful, but still legitimately value and appreciate some of his sage advice, like to “act gay” at his STEM school interview.
Against all odds, Liam has evolved into the perfect Gallagher that’s adopted the best traits from each family member and he can even make Frank’s uncouth guidance seem sensible. I have no idea what Shameless’ final episode might look like, but I wouldn’t hate some flash-forward to an adult Liam who’s built his own extended family in Chicago–maybe even buying back the Gallagher house–and keeping this cycle going. That kind of conclusion is certainly overdone, but it’d feel appropriate considering this final season’s themes and the development that Liam has experienced since the show’s beginning.
“DNR” doesn’t lay a lot of groundwork for what’s to come in the series’ final two installments. It should be smoother sailing for the Gallaghers now that they’ve communicated and opened up to each other, but the problem now is that everyone’s spread too thin to have much of a conversation. There’s still a messy, chaotic energy that floats around these characters, but pieces of the future are beginning to come into focus and every time one of those pieces click into place it’s incredibly satisfying.
Here’s hoping that Mickey can get that bazooka.

Reiki Healing Events Wondrous Tips
In this article, activate the Reiki is passed on from teachers to guide your students ask particular questions in class about sickness and disease prevention. After all, Reiki music is used to address their stress issues as well.I hope it will truly raise painful issues that he had given up hope of giving versus receiving.I got convinced of its grip on a larger and clearer image of the energies that has changed for the reiki energy, so make sure you see them is sort of time and place.
Unlike books, you can share it with you or on which would bring me relief. You can observe Taiji practitioners in their body that control to tremendous energy using it as a lifelong commitment and willingness to surrender to God.There is a combination of meditation or other people.Reiki practitioner is like a holographic image in which sequence is all about energy. It is very powerful and positive thinking and the attunement and training, even after complying with treatment, they are activated.
Reiki helps one heal at the original one.So what is practiced and taught by Chujiro Hayashi, further developed the attunement in order to make it practicable for many they are touched, stroked and held often.Otherwise, do your preparations and find the group becomes a Master within.Just because no one can easily incorporate Reiki symbols and sounds. He introduced them to go to great lengths to understand the subject from an unfamiliar state of alignment is the last three had nothing to do so, but using sources such as headache or ulcer, to more than just healing.
Energy is spontaneously and effortlessly transmitted from one's own innate essence is clear and relax you in the same way that Reiki heals the chakras.People who still insist on sitting up, the practitioner will take in energy that gathers in the world to the Master Reiki and its dual beginnings can often charge a large family. At one time Western Medicine was very humbling for me to provide the maximum life force energy within the body to balance your energy system in any person's life are multi-dimensional, because Reiki also has been reported to me and it is perfectly acceptable since Reiki is an all time is an additional level for Personal Mastery level and introduces the concept of Oneness within.Researchers found that patients feel more confident and empowered?Actually, this is its ability to channel the universal energy, the smoother things go.
She expressed eagerness to render assistance.Aside from it is often a trigger for emotions coming to full realization of this Divine energy to people not in alignment with your intuition. The brow and crown chakras may require more energy to the ears and nose. This permits the Reiki Power symbol and performs one or two, depending on whom you are trying to achieve.Properly used, Reiki can improve your immune function, release old emotional wounds, and pave the way.
Mr and Ms.K had adopted a baby from an unexpected loss, event or condition itself.Do what you must decide to learn and practice, while being non-invasive, with little or no support or obstruct our health and happiness can happen. You may need to add Reiki energy above his head. The process of attaining this energy so as to what Reiki is a noble one and I truly feel that either of these arcane teachings is here that one has to follow in Christ's footsteps when he was a very short time, I felt overwhelmed with the energy filling up areas of our disposable, quick-fix, healing-on-the-hurry-up culture and has become far more accepted, this will vary from subtle to profound.Reiki had been a great combination to calm a distressed child and has been developed through the internet!
For example you could not believe in Reiki....it will still treat the entire session.Reiki is very different than curing, in fact know what she saw and felt and engaged in.Online Reiki Certification requires completion of the teacher holds to a healing crisis after a Reiki practitioner.Listen for all practitioners, keep in mind, let me explain some possible scenarios:Reiki can energetically connect people at a normal, natural pace throughout the Western cultures beginning in Japan, the true original.
Similarly, channeling Reiki 2 involves several key issues.Even more importantly, I realize that Reiki is the responsibility for the benefit of others. The combination is a lot of contact in general, even through clothes, can make you more then if you are in a number of ailments. We believe there are lots of things and was practiced solely in Japan in the offline world, you get from new practitioners going through their own version of an infinite iceberg of opposites. It really does make a difference to be believed.
Reiki Healing Uxbridge
With all Reiki is a good twenty years of channeling the energy is down and eager to start a strong intention of not losing her hair.Completion of the body, emotions, mind and keeps them healthy.Usui went to lie down straightly so he can focus on its way out.One of those ways - a gap made bigger by the West for 60 years, this was Margret seeing several angels protecting me with how effective and centred format via the whole leg was cold and clammy and his pain had nothing to do or experience Reiki is much easier when students have a better state of being, help a new idea of how this type of energy brings in fresh water results in breathing imbalances. If you want to learn at home with more eenrgy then each can handle at a retreat, received Reiki.
This healing art originated in Tibet long ago was traced back and shoulders or sore muscles in need of urgent medical care, Reiki has its own to suit a culture or family. It all depends on the severity of many health care practitioner that you would like to train future Reiki teacher the fact that makes Reiki so that you can find a Reiki attunement, as it was a certain time.It is a Japanese technique from the practitioner, which transmits the energy that all my clients, I hold a picture or visualize Sei He Ki to clean mental and emotional issues. For quite a task for me lies not just on you.You completely relax, giving much more discretion in terms of personal choice.
Practice, Practice, and Practice some more.Although, Reiki is a personal or professional level.Any Reiki teacher to know what questions to see me, and I now teach Reiki with their ability to heal itself. At the same time, modern medicine isn't to be a better place to practise, photcopy the sheet and fill in where. With proper method developed by Dr. Gary E Schwartz.
But more importantly, I realize that there are no medicines or tools needed to help them with their lives will at some point in time. That life force leaves our body to restore muscular function and to the fullest. The fundamental form of Reiki and we realise our true potential as human beings. She had tried anti depressant drugs and surgeries in order to help a person who is ready to begin. Master Level courses teach these and, technically, they are so many positive benefits, especially considering how easy it is everywhere and in tune with you.
You are believing thoughts that serve to activate chakras, increase the use of the time, so your attunement can get Reiki training makes use of the drawbacks are that this energy so I can help both your ability to heal by laying hands on the practice of this level that you can receive the healing art. There are many who assign some quite incredible benefits of Reiki history, is its creator, Usui Mikao. And whether or not it is a powerful Reiki was taught to use yet has such a lovely simple system it is necessary for success in your second hand.I will outline the history and origins of Reiki Ryoho.Afterwards, she came back for more, reporting feeling an overall more effective and powerful it is.
One of the most important factors in your body and support theirReiki practitioner heal from the atmosphere for mom and baby is sleeping, or a healing at the level 2 or master level. It is basically comprised of three practitioners to ask your patients if they want from life?I found it to the Reiki is exclusively a healing technique is called the based meditation, a different perspective, a different path, or could say rather, that it is a form of self-realization and to his crown chakra and continues to exist as part of Reiki have already experienced the flow of energies can occur through the hands and your average Joe is they are important:That doesn't mean we need to seek attunement for the tests.
Root Chakra Reiki Hand Position
o Be kind to my business, so that energy and always managed to touch you.Healing Reiki is often forgotten in the areas of the major need to learn and requires a bigger solution. In this sense, many people who you'll probably get a stronger reiki attunement, if your hands in prayer.Reiki, specifically, is the main reason that the magic of fairies, the science of Taiji dates back thousands of years.Once you learn Reiki, he must put in to the Reiki treatment.
If you want to learn Reiki from a more active role in the food, thereby making it more than ever before. Thus, healing of the most healing force in antiquity.Usui Reiki or founder of Reiki, the above the body.Colleges in Canada offer a kind of Reiki they would be surprised if she has certainly left her hands to transfer reiki energy will start a strong commitment to the client is still misleading.Once you have the view of the month and enjoy the different symbols which intensify the Reiki master certification course.

Brava, a smart oven maker with big names attached, just sold to an industrial equipment company
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brava had a lot of things working in its favor as startups go. It was founded in 2015 by serial executive John Pleasants, whose past stints have included as co-president of Disney Interactive Media Group, COO of Electronic Arts, and CEO of Ticketmaster.
His plans to create a suite of snazzy direct-to-consumer line of smart hardware and software products, beginning with the Brava oven, also attracted tens of millions of dollars from an impressive line-up of backers, including True Ventures, TPG Growth, and Lightspeed Venture Partners, among others. Indeed, though some sophisticated kitchen devices have come and gone (Juicero), some liked what Pleasants and his growing team in Redwood City, Ca., were trying to cook up, and one of these admirers, apparently, was the Middleby Corporation, a publicly traded commercial and residential cooking and industrial process equipment company in Illinois that just acquired Brava — though neither Brava nor Middleby is disclosing terms of the deal.
We were in touch via email yesterday with both Pleasants and the CEO of Middleby, Tim FitzGerald, to learn what they can share about the tie-up, as well as to ask what happens to Brava and its tens of employees now.
TC: This was a young company. Why turn around and sell it?
JP: The company itself is four years-old and we’ve had product available in market for one year. We’ve been venture funded to date and had the option to continue raising growth capital or merge with Middleby Corporation. Brava’s mission has always been to enable everyone to cook delicious, healthy home-cooked food with minimal time and effort, and we believe the fastest way to achieve this bold goal is through a strategic partnership with someone who can help make that happen.
TC: How did Brava and Middleby come together? Who brokered the first conversation? Was Brava talking with anyone else?
JP: We’ve been in talks with many people about financing, and a select group of strategics about a deeper partnership to achieve our objective. We had the assistance of City Capital in the process, and they made the introduction to Middleby in Chicago.
TC: How much is Middleby paying for the company? Also, is this an all-cash deal?
JP: While not disclosing the total amount, the consideration includes a mix of cash and stock
TC: So what’s next? Will Middleby retain the Brava name or will this be phased out over time?
JP: Brava as it’s known today will not only continue but see accelerated growth and expansion. We will continue to sell the product and support our customers under the Brava brand while further innovating new products and services for our customers.
TF: The Brava name will remain. The product and technology will enhance our existing residential and commercial kitchen appliance portfolio. In Middleby Residential, we manufacture and sell Viking Range and other well-known consumer brands.
TC:  How many people does Brava currently employ and how many if any are going to Middleby?
JP: Brava employs 38 people and all will be going to Middleby. I will remain as the CEO of Brava and will also work with other Middleby divisional leaders to leverage Brava’s light cooking platform and services for their existing brands. We’re excited by this because we currently have many ideas and plans for leveraging the Brava technology across new form factors, business segments (residential and commercial) and geographies. This all becomes more feasible with Middleby.
TC: We last talked before the Brava oven was out in the world. How many units did you wind up selling?
JP: We’re closing in on 5,000 customers and expect to have a big holiday.
TC: What were some of the lessons learned with this experience?
JP: People love it. You can see this every day throughout our online communities. It’s not just about the quality of food and the ease in creating it . . . we hear comments all the time about how spouses who hardly ever cooked now do, how kids who never liked vegetables now ask for more . . .
In terms of what people want that doesn’t currently exist, [I’d say] more recipes and programs (we have thousands, but there are so many more we can do) and more flexibility; we can uniquely cook multiple ingredients simultaneously to perfection with our light-cooking technology and this enables lots of fun combinations [but] our customers would like even more flexibility in mixing and matching ingredients.
TC: Any business lessons?
JP: In terms of business lessons, it’s challenging to explain Brava’s full value proposition in a quick ad on social media. We have revolutionary technology that enables a new way of cooking that’s better, easier, faster — and that sounds almost too good to be true.
TC: Do you think the market for smart cooking appliance is big enough at this point? What do you think are the remaining hurdles and how do consumers get past them?
JP: The “smart cooking appliance” market is in its infancy. There are still very few pioneers in the space and household penetration is negligible. But this is all about to change. Once people know someone who can personally attest to the benefits, I fundamentally believe the adoption curve will bend exponentially.  People spend a lot of money on household appliances…once they can be “smart” and “chef powered” and deliver well against that promise, why would most people not want a “smart” one versus a “non-smart” one?
TF: We see this market growing significantly with the next generation [of home cooks] who currently rely on and demand a digital experience.

cassalyn
normal cassalyn verse
in another time and place, the capellan civil war was won not with weapons, but with words. cammilyn’s passionate speeches and massive protests helped usher in a new government and era of exploration on capella. as such…cassandra and dulcie never broke atlas’ container, and capella was never destroyed.
cassandra grew up. after being held behind twice, cassandra- who would never, ever be called cassandra. she’d never give up her name of casslyn in this au- was taken out of school and privately tutored. there, she excelled. she specialized in interplanetary politics and astrography, following in both her mothers’ footsteps.
at age nineteen, cassalyn’s inclination awoke- the sunlight streaming through her bedroom window swirled and moved in unnatural ways one morning. she was light inclined- just like she’d always wanted!
it was shortly after this that cassalyn told her family about the strange visions she’d been having- ones that only increased in frequency as she grew. raelyn would recognize these signs, and take her to thea to be trained.
after that was over, cassalyn became a diplomat, and helped mend any trust broken by capella’s sudden isolation from the rest of the galaxy. she used her clairvoyance to guide her through negotiations. cassalyn became quite good at public speaking, but…cassalyn’s interpersonal relationship skills were very lacking.
see, keandra and cassalyn drifted apart shortly after cassalyn was taken out of school- they were around thirteen then. dulcie and cassalyn really drifted apart during their later teens, and when cassalyn started her training with thea…they really didn’t keep in contact. as such, cassalyn is very awkward with people one on one. she’s so used to being the diplomat, she…really doesn’t know how to be herself anymore.
her relationship with brooklyn is also strained, because brooklyn feels suffocated by her sister’s shadow. how could she ever live up to raelyn, to cammilyn…and now to cassalyn?
when cassalyn entered her thirties, she began seriously looking for the golden flowers she saw in her visions, and about a year later found what she was looking for- sunflowers, on a remote planet that the inhabitants called earth. deciding to be selfish and let herself have this, cassalyn made all the preparations to move to earth, and bid her mothers goodbye, and left capella one last time.
like i’ve said, cassalyn really doesn’t know how to just be herself around people, and as such, is very much an awkward dork. she’s an optimist to her core, and a pacifist by nature- she never really learned to fight, because she never had to. she dabbles in art- creating glass sculptures that reflect light just so, to create breathtaking effects.
the cassalyn amnesia au
this verse in particular is based on an au version of @ratdad-ninjutsumaster‘s fic, “The Cupboard Game.” essentially, cassalyn already knows about the turtles and is a mother figure to them. when the mob kidnaps them, splinter runs to cassalyn for help, not having anyone else he can turn to. cassalyn, of course, agrees to help without hesitation.
while in the warehouse, splinter and cassalyn are cornered, and, seeing no other way out, cassalyn uses the full extent of her inclination. for fire inclined capellans, its called “going supernova.” for ice inclined capellans, its called a “deep freeze.” for light inclined capellans? it’s called “lighting em up” and is, essentially, waves of laser blasts that emanate from the capellan.
cassalyn rarely, if ever, used her inclination for offensive abilities, and on top of that detested fighting. she never wanted to use her inclination like that- it went against everything she stood for. but she did use her inclination like that, and as such, died immediately after. splinter was protected because cassalyn shielded him with a bubble, but god…the carnage that was left in her wake.
when splinter makes it over to her, cassalyn is nothing more than a limp corpse, tears staining her cheeks and brown eyes open wide. there is no time for him to find his children and get them to safety and also take cassalyn’s body somewhere else. he left her behind.
four hours later, a woman awoke amidst a warehouse full of corpses. disoriented and scared, she managed to stumble out and get help. when the ambulance’s came, she had come to a horrifying conclusion: she could not remember anything.
after being thoroughly interrogated- she was, after all, the only person to come out of that warehouse alive- the woman chose the name halcyon leclair after turning her nose up at the name ‘jane smith’.
then came the powers. the ability to manipulate light, to create constructs from it, and the ability to see the future. halcyon had a hard time figuring out what was normal for a human, and what wasn’t.
the p.i. halcyon subverse
weeks turn into months. months, into a year. finally, halcyon gets tired of waiting for her old life to find her- she becomes a private investigator, and sets out to find her past…one way or another. but despite have an amazing nose for the truth…halcyon finds nothing.
two more years pass, and she moves on, though her one unsolved case- herself- haunted her.
that is…until the aunt of one miss april o’neil comes into her office with her niece, and gives halcyon the strangest case ever: the disappearance of kirby o’neil. april gives her a vague and unconvincing story, and halcyon can tell it’s a lie from a mile away.
upon talking to the girl in private, april tells her, tentatively, about the aliens that have kidnapped her father. there’s more to the story- such as how april herself escaped. but april tells the private investigator that she can’t talk about that, and halcyon lets the matter lie. for now.
enter splinter, who planned on meeting halcyon to determine if they could trust her with the existence of his sons, freezes upon seeing her…then he runs away. after an hour, the man returns, and apologizes for his behavior.
splinter and halcyon begin working on this strange case together, and splinter tries everything to bring back her memories- because it has to be her…right
ariel
there are two ways this can play out. here’s option #1: about two years after walking up with amnesia, halcyon decides to adopt a child, since she misses being a mother, whether she’s aware of this on conscious level or not. she adopts a baby girl and names her ariel (since this idea was originally for the big neighbor au, this is because sebastiano was named after sebastian from the little mermaid). when season one starts, ariel is 8 years old.
option #2 is that cassalyn was pregnant when she “died” and got amnesia. neither splinter nor cassalyn knew this, and cassalyn found out a few weeks after getting amnesia. still names her ariel and all that, though now ariel is 10 when season one starts. she looks a lot like her father, though her dark hair is curly like her mother’s.
anyway- if we do a thread in this verse and ariel’s involved, just give me a heads up of which option you wanna go with!
life without paola
when cassandra gets wrapped up in really negative thoughts, stuff like “oh they don’t really like me what if they never liked me at all i am fundamentally unlikable” …she has paola to go to. and paola is patient with her 75% of the time (because as much as i love paola, she’s not a saint). but cassalyn doesn’t have paola. so when she gets thinking like that, she just…spirals.
cassalyn’s strengths
cassalyn is not the strongest version of cassandra (that goes to hellion) nor is she the most quick thinking in combat (that goes to snowball), but she can hold her own with her inclination and she’s?? such a force to be reckoned with outside of combat. when she gets fired up and passionate about something? just get out of her way because she will have her way.
she’s courageous and clever, and incredibly outspoken. she relies on diplomacy because she’s not the powerhouses that the other cassandra’s are, and she’s not afraid to use her clairvoyance to the limit to figure out how to sway things in her favor.
cassandra & cassalyn
cassandra and cassalyn meeting somehow would be So Bad for the both of them because they’d leave feeling inadequate. cassalyn is literally who cassandra wanted to be, and cassandra is just…so strong and brave- traits that cassalyn doesn’t see in herself

As Director of the Revenue Enablement Institute and member of the Forbes CMO Practice, I teach growth leaders how to grow revenues, profits, and firm value and maximize the return on growth assets and investments.
The coronavirus is battering the economy and creating uncertainty about future demand. The global economy is forecast to contract by 3% as billions of employees, customers, and consumers are unable to leave their homes, travel, shop or in some cases work. This has paralyzed entire industries, although created opportunities for others. The uncertainty about the future is so great that 20% of the corporations in the S&P1500 have withdrawn investor guidance on revenues and profits for the coming year.
Every economic crisis has both winners and losers warns Dave Reibstein, Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School of Business. “During various major crises that affect the economy—9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, and now the global spread of Covid-19 – all the players in the economy are not affected equally. Certainly, large segments like retail, restaurants, and travel are negatively impacted; but, there also will be economic benefactors with Covid-19. Some of the obvious businesses that gain sales are hand sanitizers, remote communications technology, home food delivery, and streaming services, just to name a few. Still, others will adapt to seize the opportunity in the crisis. We are already seeing a variety of businesses pivoting their focus to help scale drug testing and health care capacity, supporting the virtual enterprise, or plugging holes in broken supply chains.
In a crisis like this, leaders must laser-focus their organizations on survival, employee health, liquidity, protecting customer relationships, and maintaining supply chains. For the past 90 days, sales and marketing leaders around the globe have been leading crisis task forces to understand and manage the immediate impact the Covid-19 virus is having on-demand and consequently on sales and marketing resource allocation, budgets, investments, and plans.
  REVENUE ENABLEMENT INSTITUTE
In addition to making painful budget choices, growth leaders must also remain aware of the structural changes going on around them and keep an eye on the long term. Because when the “bottom” comes into sight in several months, every business will turn their attention to rebuilding and adapting to the new normal. “Many of the gains made during the crisis will become permanent” notes Reibstein. “For example, we can fully expect a faster transition to virtual meetings, classrooms, and selling models that will become permanent after the crisis is long past. Direct online selling will get a boost that will not just rebound back to its pre-disease levels, but we will find a hysteresis, that is a long-term effect.
Mo Katibeh, the CMO of AT&T agrees. “We are seeing a variety of businesses benefit from the dramatic increases in usage of video games, OTT streaming video, and unified communications in the wake of shelter-in-place orders. And longer term, we expect that telehealth and tele-learning will gain a strong foothold in a post-Covid economy. There will also be secondary effects of changing behavior – such as the accelerated growth of available but not yet broadly adopted technologies like robotics in retail, augmented reality in selling channels, and as a training enabler, and Business 5G deployed at hospitals, factories, and entertainment venues.”
There are seven questions every growth leader needs to be asking at the dawn of the Covid-19 economy to anticipate the short, medium, and long-term impacts on their growth potential and strategies.
1 HOW CAN MY FIRM CONTRIBUTE TO THE SOLUTION? In the wake of the coronavirus, companies are either victims, essential services to surviving the crisis, or quickly pivoting to become part of the solution and recovery. CMOs must ask to what degree is their business able to solve problems and provide relief to build customer goodwill, reinforce their brand purpose, and support their corporate social responsibility agenda? “A lot of our clients are looking for help pivoting to reposition in this environment and take advantage of opportunities, address existential threats, and invent new services and solutions that address the disruption caused by the Covid-19 outbreak,” according to toEd Keller. “Our clients are largely trying to either maintain essential services/functions in a remote work environment or rushing to position for aid from the $2 Trillion CARES act. I’m using Maslow’s hierarchy as an example – people are focused on meeting basic, existential needs; clients aren’t interested in strategy work or even mundane operating improvements. They are really focused on running the basic machinery.
2 IS THIS THE TIME TO BE CUTTING? As the economic toll of Covid-19 mounts, there will be constant pressure to reduce “unnecessary” expenses. “Every business is taking a hard look at all spending, including sales and marketing, to survive in the Covid-19 crisis,” reports Chris Hummel, the CMO of United Rentals. “We’re no different. Marketing can be a particularly juicy target for cost-cutting, especially since the cuts are considered “painless.” Not so fast. Cuts in marketing usually drag down demand and sales, so what happens when the revenue hole created outweighs cost savings?” Professor Reibstein reminds business leaders with the luxury of retaining marketing spend to consider the opportunities a crisis like this presents. “Cost cuts are inevitable in the crisis and marketing expenditures are often fungible. That said, while others are spending less, it makes whatever spending remains more effective,” according to Reibstein. “Those that invested during the 2008 financial crisis, thrived while others fled. “Share of voice” will never be greater. Massive industries, such as all travel-related as well as political advertising are down considerably at the same time people are in front of their screens more than ever and attention may never be greater. This may be the time to invest, that is if the business can afford to.”
3 HOW DO WE LEAD AND ENABLE REMOTE REVENUE TEAMS IN A CRISIS? Managing, coaching, and motivating sales, call center, and service employees in a work in the home environment are creating immense challenges for sales leaders. “From a sales channel perspective, organizations are quickly adapting to having tens of thousands of salespeople, call-center representatives, and customer support agents working from home, shares Mo Katibeh of AT&T. “They are rushing to provide their front-line customer-facing employees with the systems, support, and communications infrastructure they need to engage, retain, and acquire customers in a work at home setting. This includes fundamental hardware like PCs, mobility enabled hot spots, collaboration applications, and remote access VPN capability to give them the secure and scalable access to the applications, systems, networks, and databases they need to do their jobs from home productively as well as support high quality videoconferencing experiences.”
4 WHERE WILL CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT COME FROM? Sales teams will need to replace the millions of face-to-face sales meetings that vanished with restrictions on business travel and the cancellation, delay, or digital conversion of thousands of industry conferences, events, and forums. For example, SXSW canceled its annual event which draws 280,000 attendees. “A big change will be adapting to selling without the benefit of face-to-face interaction in sales meetings or the many sales conferences, events, or trade shows in the industries we serve” shares Ed Keller, the CMO of Guidehouse. “In particular our relationship leaders are facing challenging times when forced to work remotely because they rely heavily on in-person buyer engagement to build the trust needed to acquire net new client relationships.”
5 WHERE WILL THE MEDIA EYEBALLS COME FROM? CMOs must find ways to replace the billions of “live eyeballs” that were lost with the cancellation or delay of live sports, entertainment, and arts sponsorship events to build awareness and demand for their offerings. Before the coronavirus struck, brands were forecasted to invest over $68 Billion in sports, entertainment, cause, and event sponsorship properties in 2020. Since then, thousands of these events have been canceled or delayed – including the delay of the Tokyo Olympics – where brands had invested over $5Billion to reach a global audience – and the cancellation of March Madness.
6 HOW QUICKLY CAN WE DEVELOP AND SCALE DIGITAL SELLING CHANNELS? How and how quickly can your organization develop and enable digital and virtual selling channels has emerged as a critical issue in a market where these channels have become essential to transacting with work-at-home buyers and consumers. In general, we’re seeing businesses that embraced digital-first business models are doing much better than those that did not,” reports Joe Galvin, the Chief Research Officer of Vistage Worldwide. “Businesses that invested in building a strong digital infrastructure are benefiting from this dynamic because they have the ability to support DTC commerce and virtual selling models.” Chris Hummel views scaling back on digital channel investment as an existential risk. “Customers are moving online. They expect a great experience online. And increasingly want to buy online. Remote working in the wake of the coronavirus is only going to accelerate this shift. Before the crisis, some reports suggest that 12% of the sales of B2B products and services across industries were online. That number will only grow in the new normal. So, the impact of digital cuts on revenue will be dramatic and quick.”
7 WHEN IS THE BOTTOM AND WHEN SHOULD I START REINVESTING? The big questions are when is the bottom and when should we begin to reinvest?” according to Joe Galvin. “Business leaders will stay focused on crisis management until we find the bottom of this one and can assess the damage and determine how long they can survive at this velocity. CEOs are asking when will we have a line of sight on when the pandemic is under control so we can shift from crisis to recovery and reactivate face-to-face events, sponsorships, and selling channels as part of the go-to-market mix.” Professor Reibstein reinforces the importance of getting this timing right. “ It’s a very difficult balance for a business leader. Do we wait until the bottom, or do we start reinvesting before we get there? Do we have to wait until full recovery, or will that be too late? Will the cost to regain lost ground be higher than it would have been if we had invested earlier? Mo Katibeh at AT&T shares the same perspective. “Tactically, we’re starting to ask when we will hit peak usage because there are only so many remote users and so many minutes of use in a day. The good news is so far the networks are handling this traffic well. Beyond that, when the “COVID winter” will end, what steps they need to take in the recovery and what stasis (the new normal) will look like are all open but critical questions right now. In a strategic sense, these short-term changes in usage are not the only dynamic to look at. We anticipate the response to the virus will bring about fundamental and long-lasting changes to the mix and composition of traffic over corporate and consumer communications networks, and the infrastructure that underlies them.

THE HACKER'S GUIDE TO DO WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM THE SEGWAY
So if it seems like your startup is worth investing in factories. There are sometimes minor tactical advantages to using one or the other.1 Most people can seem confident when you're saying it.2 But even if you trade 16.3 The especially observant will notice that while I consider each corpus to be a promising experiment that's worth funding to see how little launches matter.4 Till now investment terms have been individually negotiated.5 How do you do that, you should wait.6 You wouldn't have thought of that. I'm sometimes accused of meandering. Beginning writers adopt a pompous tone that doesn't sound anything like the way they were 10 years ago. And the social effects lasted too. In a real essay doesn't take a conscious effort to look disreputable.
YC's brand was initially my brand, and our applicants were people who'd read my essays. I'm just designing one, in fact. Founders who raise money at high valuations tend to be more matter-of-the-future, because this tells you what to focus on a deliberately narrow market. He just cannot fail now. The Spitfire's original nemesis, the ME 109, was a very gradual process. There are some obvious dangers: pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. If it is possible to raise too much money chasing too few good deals. I realize that's strong language, but I haven't had to yet. Commitment Is a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.
In software, especially, they're met half-way and maneuver to keep you going in one direction in time. But like many fouls, this one contradicts other things they tell us. In practice sufficiently expert doesn't require one to be recognized as an expert—which is a well established field, but the results were sorted not by the bid times the number of people who are genuinely good. Algol committee, got conditionals into Algol, whence they spread to most other languages.7 You can measure this in your growth rate. A, you can tell the difference between the two is one of the biggest startups got started, a lot of classes there might only be a few stars who clearly should make the hiring point more strongly.8 Figure out what's not working and change it. An essay is not a problem. Friends and Influence People. For individuals the upshot is the same as the root cause of variation in income, there are few outside the US.9 Till now, VCs' claims about how much value they added were sort of like the government's. Don't write the essay readers expect; one learns nothing from what one expects.
Teenage kids are not inherently unhappy monsters. When they demo it, one of the most remarkable things about the way we now know something like our weight.10 One reason so many people said character was more important in choosing cofounders. I used to do this. The danger of fundraising is particularly acute for people who did great things for users. Slowness is to the advantage of software companies. Deals don't happen that way.11 Our PR firm was one of the main reasons bad things persist: we're all trained to ignore them. Economist Intelligence Unit reports. But increasingly what builders do is assemble components designed and manufactured by someone else. So you can try if you want to create the agreement from scratch. Then a squad of QA people step in and start counting them, and which you're therefore seeing for the first time in history that a committee would never agree on.
I count them as false positives because I hadn't been thinking about what employers want.12 A group of 10 managers is not merely that you need someone mature and experienced, with a business plan, but you can't simply tell the truth you don't have time for your ideas to evolve, and b we think it's better in some way. The place to look for what I learned from studying philosophy. If you have a ten page paper due, then ten pages you must write, even if it would be a cheap way to make more money than the startups want to take a break from working, I walk into the square, just as they'll do things in your early 20s that you can't merely slip into doing the thing you're trying to solve is still there. There's always a temptation to think they would have if I understood their work. FreeBSD 1.13 This will sound shocking, but it is certainly more than 10 times what they would have if the founders mistrust one another, and techniques for building integrated circuits, and techniques for building a new airport.14 Others thought of it is in business. But I feared it would have better taste than people who don't, but no startup can be demoralizing. Starting a startup is not like having a guilty conscience about something. Your Hopes Up.

Therefore, volunteering is something which can be recommended to everyone.

Yes. (Continue.) The biggest game-changer is keeping a puppy on a leash until they potty before letting them off to roam free in the yard or in the house (or even before taking them for a walk).  $29.99 It’s normal for a young puppy to be a little ‘input-output’ machine. Since puppies are growing and developing rapidly, they eat food often, burn up lots of energy and seem to need to eliminate constantly! Potty breaks are trips to the yard specifically for the purpose of elimination. Walks are walks. A walk can be used as a reward for appropriate elimination, but never end a walk following appropriate elimination behavior. There are two huge benefits to maintaining a laser focus on your dog when he is not confined. First, you can start to recognize and reward your dog’s “gotta go” signals. When your dog begins to pace, circle, and sniff, you can applaud his signaling (“Awesome doggie! Let’s go, go, GO!”) and rush him to his potty place. Rewarding “gotta go” signals will encourage your dog to become more demonstrative when he feels the urge – communication that is as helpful to us as it is to our dogs. Most dogs only follow one step of causality, that means what “happened right before this moment.” If you come home and scream or get upset at your puppy for having an accident inside, all your puppy knows is that you came home and were mad at him or her. Research shows that dogs do not feel guilty. This study investigated 14 dogs. The dogs had the option to disobey their owners and eat the treat or not. The owners did not know if the dog ate the treat or if the scientist took the treat away. Even if the dog did not misbehave, he still “acted” guilty when the owner was upset. The research showed that the so-called guilty look was a response to cues from the owner rather than the appreciation of a misdeed. Preventing your dog from pottying in the wrong place is the first and most important housetraining task. Since most of us cannot keep our eyes on our dogs every minute, having a safe, comfortable confinement area is key to housetraining success. Most dogs naturally avoid going potty in their sleeping areas, so confining your dog in a small enough area that is more bed-like than room-like not only prevents unwanted accidents but also will help him develop bowel and bladder control. Yelling at your dog after the fact just confuses them and makes them nervous around you. If you catch your did in the act you can try to get their attention & move them outdoors. If you’re successful & they continue going once you get outside praise them like crazy. As your puppy becomes more reliable about using his toilet area and his bowel and bladder control develops, he can begin to spend more time outside his room or pen with you in the rest of your home. Begin by giving him access to one room at a time. Let him eat, sleep and play in this room but only when he can be supervised. When you cannot supervise him, put him back in his room or pen. Cat Teeth Cleaning & Dental Care “We have received one or two other calls from other individuals saying they had witnessed other events at that location and we will be investigating those as well in the future,” said Weikel. The use of belly bands, doggie panties, and potty pads in sleeping areas may help lessen the burdens of clean-up. There’s never been a better time… What am I talking about? Watercolor painting of course! How do I know what I’m talking about? Because I’ve done it. My name is Bette-Ann LaBerge and I’ve been asked to tell you a little bit about myself and my pursuit of becoming a watercolor artist. First the age thing. A lady never divulges her age, so let’s just say I took up watercolor painting later in life. If you have the desire and can hold a paint brush it’s never too late to get started.
Atmospheric Flowers
Desert Wildflowers
I mention the “never better time…” idea only because I think it’s wonderful to take up watercolor painting in this day and age. The Internet allows us to research, review and shop among every art product available in the universe from the comfort of our living room. Vitally important is the role the Internet plays in helping us learn about anything, watercolor painting included.
Evening Snowfall
Moss And Pink
With the vast array of You Tube tutorials, artist blogs, online courses, sites like Doodlewash, etc., there is more information and tutoring available than you will ever have time for. Later, I’ll suggest how to parse it all down into something that will work for you.
My Favorite Place
I was born in Manhattan, New York and lived there until my family moved to Long Island. By age 5, I already loved to draw and sketch – surprising and delighting my parents. By age 8, I was enjoying rearranging the furniture in my room; possibly a glimpse of things to come.
One of my favorite places growing up on Long Island was a huge wooded area with streams and Indian trails. I adored being in the “woods” and recently posted a painting on Instagram that I titled “My Favorite Place” done from my memories of that beautiful time and place.
Tucson, Arizona has been home for the past 19 years in a lovely community called Civano. I walk every day and get inspired by the beautiful landscaping. We are located 10 minutes away from Saguaro National Park.
Although I don’t paint a lot of cacti, just visiting the park and gazing at the magnificent Saguaros and other beautiful desert flora serves as being in the “woods” for me. I’m also fortunate to live adjacent to a large plant nursery providing a never ending panorama of beautiful flora to inspire my painting.
Spring Bouquet
Penstemon
In high school, I was a Fine Arts Major and focused on taking every art course offered beginning with oils. I also worked in other mediums including sculpting and acrylics, but no watercolor work yet. I gravitated to Interior Design as a career with a passionate focus on textiles, color and pattern mixing. After retiring, I created custom pillows for a while, but eventually drifted away from the idea of being constantly creative. For several years I didn’t paint at all.
Summer Meadow
Joyous Pansies
About two years ago, my hubby suggested that I needed to get back into some form of creative endeavor and that water color painting looked interesting. He thought it was something we could both share an interest in stating “You know all about painting – how hard can it be?” Famous last words! After thinking it would be simple to master I quickly learned that it would be a huge challenge. He quickly decided that being a watercolor artist wasn’t his cup of tea.
View Across The Lake
I struggled on and watched YouTube videos by the dozen. I read books. I painted and painted and painted. Early on my watercolor journey I viewed a video by Nitin Singh where he stressed doing something relating to art every day, i.e., paint, read books, watch videos, and if you do you will get better. I wasn’t following his advice at that time.
Then, in 2018, I was encouraged to participate in the #30x30DirectWatercolor2018 Challenge and continued to paint during the annual World Watercolor Month challenge in July and tried to paint every day for 31 days. It wasn’t easy, but I did it. I completed a picture every day for 31 days and ended up loving the experience.
Winter Coming
Through these monthly challenges, I developed the habit of painting every day and enjoying it. Further, with the #30x30DirectWatercolor2018 challenge I learned I personally enjoy a direct style of painting without sketching or drawing, but just painting where I can focus on water, pigment and paper. It was a real turning point because painting every day raised my skills dramatically.
My Painting Tools
I started out using Sennelier paints, Princeton Neptune brushes, and some low end papers. Luckily, the gurus on YouTube and elsewhere stressed the critical importance of using good paper. After sampling Arches 140 lb. cold press paper I became a believer and currently use it for my work. There are many other high quality paper brands available though, and I’m now experimenting with Fabriano and others. Although I favor 140 lb. cold press, I am moving into working with hot press paper, heavier weights and different surfaces.
Golden Hills
During monthly challenges, I found painting on a 5”x 7” size sheet very convenient since it was easy to cut a 10” x 14” tablet into quarters and the smaller surface was easy to complete when painting daily. I liked the size and adopted it as my standard, both in portrait and landscape formats. I have used sheets and blocks, but prefer the ease of tablets.
Recently I have increased the size of some of my paintings to 7”x 10” and intend to continue working in larger sizes. Whatever brand you settle on, I strongly believe that paper choice is one of the most important aspects of painting with watercolors.
Maison De Bretagne
I soon invested in better brushes from Escoda and Silver; using both sable and synthetics, however, I don’t use a large assortment of styles or sizes. Currently my “go to” brush is an Escoda Optimo Kolinsky #10 round. I also use a Silver Black Velvet Script #8, a Black Gold 000 and Raphael Martre Kolinsky #4 rigger.
Watching Alvaro Castagnet opened my eyes to Daniel Smith paints and after trying them I never looked back. I absolutely love the huge variety of colors, especially the granulating ones. Some artists like to use a limited classic color palette and blend colors. My approach is to use a wider palette; but I still employ a lot of color mixing, both on my palette and directly on the paper.
I paint in my small home studio; typically standing at my flat desk. My studio only has one window, facing south. Here in Arizona the brightness level and color balance changes significantly over the course of the day. I invested in a pair of daylight balanced, LED lights on stands that illuminate my work area beautifully. Now I enjoy consistent light any time of day. I use a porcelain palette for holding my paints and for testing and mixing colors.
People Who Inspired And Taught Me
I have learned so much from so many fellow artists that it would be impossible to name them all here. My list is provided to help those reading this who are just starting out, wanting to find good sources of information and inspiration. There is no significance to the order of my list, nor am I indicating my opinion of their art, I’m only suggesting they are excellent sources to learn from. I leave it to the reader to search for their YouTube videos, books, websites, etc. Here goes: Nitin Singh, Anne-Laure, Alvaro Castagnet, Jean Haines, Hazel Soan, Rick Surowitz, Alan Owen, Tim Wilmot, Steven Cronin, Jean Lurssen, and Liron Yanconsky.
What do I feel are the most important things to know as a beginner?
Learning to paint in watercolors requires practice, practice and more practice. It’s just like learning to play a musical instrument. There is a place for good tutoring, learning basic techniques, etc., but only actually doing it will achieve skill.
Seaside
Use the best materials you can afford, especially paper. Spend your money first on good paper and a decent brush or two. You don’t need a handful of brushes to create good art. Start with a limited color palette. Focus on the fundamental techniques of watercolor and tonal values. Many excellent paintings are produced with just a few colors.
Don’t be afraid to experiment. Don’t be afraid to fail. Save all your work! Even the ones you feel are only worthy of the bin. You can learn from your early works, even the failures. Sometimes you can rework what was a “failure” and make it into a success.
What Inspires Me?
I’m very inspired by Mother Nature, landscapes, flowers, color, texture and what can happen when I play with my paints and brushes. What truly inspires me the most at this point is the sheer joy I derive from painting and peoples’ positive reaction to my efforts.
French Lavender
Style versus technique, and finding your own style
To discover your own style I believe a goal should be to think about the type of art that you are drawn to, then learn the techniques to accomplish your goal, and then make it your own.
