I just realised something. The government is going to either pay for or heavily subsidise the exorbitantly expensive funeral for Liz2 during a time when they're refusing to actually deal with a cost of living crisis. If that doesn't radicalise the public, I don't know what to do.

Well Trade Unions are now holding off strikes which, after putting some thought into it, is just stupid tbh.

I saw a post last night talking about the territories Britain has claimed since Liz2 was crowned, and which the kingdom still claims, and it included the British Antarctic Territories on that list, and I can't stop thinking about it

The writer put a blanket 'still has colonies' statement for every item on that list

There... are no native peoples of Antarctica. there never have been. the majority of the people who live in Antarctica nowadays are seasonal science workers. at international research bases. all from countries who've signed the 'no one owns this land' treaty

I looked it up and it turns out there are two 'colonies' on the continent. they're both research stations that have civilian housing/schools. One is is Chilean; the other is Argentinian. literally every other person who sleeps on the entire continent is there to work

Yeah the UK has outposts, but they're research bases or defunct military bases. they're not colonies. I suspect some of the other places that OP included on their list had military bases and not colonies, as well

And I'm not trying to be pedantic here because yes British imperialism sucks and is still ongoing but to throw Antarctica kind of willy-nilly onto that list just suggests you don't know what you're talking about! colonies are a specific thing!! plus seven different states have claimed territory on Antarctica and they're the only seven states that even give a damn about that because they all signed the Antarctic Treaty and agreed no one can own the land that they're pretending to claim. it's kids staking their flags in the public park

anyway Britian doesn't have any colonies in the British Antarctic Territories. Chile and Argentina operate colonies in the BAT (did I mention that all three states' 'claims' cover roughly the same area??). Brtian could and should have revoked their BAT claim decades ago, but instead they tried to rename part of that territory 'Queen Elizabeth Land' literally a decade ago and for that they should be mocked and scolded, and any non-UK map that includes that name should be written off as British nationalist propaganda
