During my late night shifts I’ve finally gotten around to working on my personal ‘portfolio’ website. It’s been a slow process with many false starts along the way but I’m slowly making progress in creating a space to showcase my body of work over the years. Although initially I wanted to do this to display my ‘model’ work, I’ve actually found more satisfaction working on the Backseat Ballads section instead. It’s allowed me to delve right back into the archives of all the things we’ve gotten up to as a group and it’s understatement to say we’ve done quite a lot. Furthermore I began feeling nostalgic and revisited the BSB blog/website which I haven’t touched in a long time. I still long to create a proper website for it though. I honestly didn’t really think people would have noticed when I decided to deactivate this account and the Facebook page. In my mind it was inevitable as I wasn’t posting much anymore here but so I was quite surprised at the reaction when people realised this account was gone. There was a level of concern and as I tried to explain to others my reasoning, it made me realise I may have been too quick to do so. Even if this page isn’t as active as it use to be, I didn’t have to switch it off like it was the end. It may have been selfish on my part since I was the one who generally managed these accounts but in the end Backseat Ballads and all the experiences/memories we’ve shared over the years is for everyone. So I’ve brought it back. Two years ago (oh my does time fly) I had the opportunity to showcase my work at the @rawmelbourne exhibition with other Melbournian artists and creatives. It was a strange experience because I’m a pretty low key guy and not one to brag about my work. With that said, it was a great experience to see others view my work... but honestly, what really made me happy the most was seeing the crew browse through the Backseat Ballads Greatest Hits photobook that @char_lenee designed and their reactions as they reminisce over the countless memories we’ve made over the years.
