Baccano! Week 2023 - Day 7: Morality in a Grey World

Huey having a self-hatred in jail thinking about his northern star (Elmer) or something. I had a couple of ideas on how to demonstrate the subjectivity of morality in Baccano! but eventually settled on this.

Shoutout to Elmer “Huey’s my best friend” Albatross for investing his Dial-a-notta-Demon wish in the hypothetical smile of the immortal who tops Szilard’s “to die” list, aka. Mr. Maiza “Most Likely to be Eaten” Avaro.

 No wonder Huey hasn’t seen him in two centuries; it’s gotta suck knowing your best friend believes he’s more likely to see Lord Survivor’s Guilt, Esquire’s smile than your smile.

HC: Donald have a poor health since the triplets were toddlers and he had to start overworking to pay everything they need. With this, he learned how to hide well his own headaches, hurts and other occasional symptoms. Nobody never noticed in the most of the parent meetings that he was coming from the hospital or was going to there next.

In HDLW's first of the "few days out adventures" with Scrooge, he spent this day doing a lot of overdue tasks, even if he was a lot more tired than he usually is.

In the morning when they finally arrived, he badly could get out of his room in the houseboat. How they arrived so early (like 5AM), they presumed that he would sleeping late. Hours later, Scrooge called him to help Beakley to carry some heavy treasure he got to the Other Bin.

We are not talking about how hard it was to him to get out bed, walk and open the door. We are not talking about how suprised Scrooge was when he saw his "yellow as fuck" nephew. And, principally, we're not talking about how he convinced and took Donald to an hospital, while he says to the kids that he's gonna be fine, stay with Beakley.

We are not talking about how he realized how much he lied. We are not talking about how Donald needed a emergency surgery and a new liver. We are not talking about how Scrooge donated a little over half of his own to save his life and he's never going to talk about that. We are not talking about how many days it took Donald needed more than a healthy person to his body don't reject the new liver and get well enough to go home. We are not talking about how happy the family was when he got back, and about how worried they are about him now. And most importantly, we're not talking about how Scrooge would nag and scold Donald to be more careful about his health all the time, we're not talking about how much his preoccupation with this boy kept him from sleeping or doing anything.

I don't know anything about diseases or transplants, sorry for any mistakes made

I know the “My R” song is outdated a bit on the internet, but imagine an animatic with Sk8, for Langa. Braided hair girl is perhaps Cherry about Joe or Tadashi about Adam, or even Hiromi about his boss; the petite girl is Miya. “Someone every day” would then include flashes to Cherry, Joe, Reki, etc. Eventually, there’s the final physical apparatus: Adam.
