I would love to know about the elbas sitcom AU (<- big sitcom enjoyer)

Tbh it wouldn't be that different from their actual lives, lol, just played up for comedy. Also this was such a fun response to write that I did not stop myself and I just kept inventing stuff.

A lot of these characters are discussed in this powerpoint post.

Some recurring bits:

No one can remember Casper's name even when he's standing in front of them, except Nidilaenn (his kid) and Vinnek. They all call him Pa (which they do IRL) or some random name ("he has a John face"). Regardless of whether he's there or not everyone is always talking about his whirlwind romance that took him out to the Vale and left them with one less prankster. You know he always returns for the solstice episode.

People go "where's Nidilaenn" and then we immediately cut to Nid in their boat. The funny part is where the boat is this time.

"El this might be easier if you don't get so frustrated" [Ellery turns back toward the camera with the nastiest look on his face] "I'm not frustrated"

There's always a new random nonroot staying at the Yellow House to witness the shenanigans and mostly laugh them off as "wow this island is weird haha"

The nonroot is also always shocked when they find out that they were not wrong, Madge is in fact twice her husband Rigo's age, and those ages are 120 and ~60.

Madge and Rigo are only on the island half the time. The other half they're traveling the mainland and getting called back to Elbas for increasingly ridiculous reasons. While they're away someone else has to care for the lighthouse (which is why IRL they don't actually travel that much).

Herric is always meddling in something. Frequently it has a butterfly effect, where they do something tiny like borrow Milo's butter and by the middle of the episode the island is in shambles.

Herric and Urielte are the "they should just be together" couple of the series, and to be honest they don't disagree (like if they just said "nah we're friends" people would drop it but they've never said that). However they do keep coming up with increasingly silly excuses for why they won't (the real reason is Herric doesn't want to have another breakup and Urielte just doesn't give a shit about formalities).

When someone needs information, Vinnek always has a book on that. Unless it's about legal histories or contract law, in which case Milo has a book on that.

Ysa sets the mood perfectly as a bartender but never serves alcohol. Thon keeps coming up with increasingly complex names for thons juice cocktails.

While working at the docks or the lighthouse Rigo has seen sea monsters of all kinds and just shrugs it off and goes back to his book.

Madge has a bike. The island is small. She tends to ride down the lighthouse hill into town but sometimes she rides into the sea instead (Rigo: [looks up] Madge: [rides right off the end of the dock] Rigo: [goes back to his book, then does a double take]).

This would make more sense in an anime but I thought it so I'm going to say it: sometimes Nid and El grab hands and go "because the power of friendship" with the dramatic eye shine and everything.

There are as many explanations as to why Rae is missing a leg as there are islanders. Even she doesn't give the same answer every time, but she always mentions the ankle bracelet she lost.

Some episode concepts:

Some nonroot comes to stay at the Yellow House and Tirias starts spending all her time with them. Ysa and Amadjes are like "you should branch out" and Tirias is like "noooo" and all bashful about it, because the reason she's hanging around them is because they understand her obsession with an extremely niche media property that no one else gets.

A nonroot can't tell the difference between Amadjes and their cousins Amelie, Aloysius, and Asteras and convinces them all to make increasingly strange fashion choices. For some reason their dad Emil was off-island when this happens and upon his return he can't tell them apart because of the fashion.

Milo's parents Marietta and Tem come to visit and it's a series of humorously awkward interactions between Milo & Herric and Marietta & Tem, to the point that Herric will say something like "what the fuck" to Marietta (their kid) and then immediately turn to Tem and say "I find this somewhat confusing". When Milo mentions Tem to the Council they all offer their own advice: Ellery talks about not getting frustrated, Nid wants to formulate a strategy based on who swept who off their feet, Patience suggests getting kombucha-drunk with them, Tirias says to look for their passion. Somehow all of these become relevant over the course of their relationship-building.

Someone discovers that "the reason" Herric and Urielte won't officially get together is because they don't want to move into each other's houses. So they orchestrate moving one to the other, then vice versa, then into a separate third house, and it all goes really badly and they have to be moved back.

After the previous episode, Herric's ex-wife and estranged son return to demand something from them, probably money- and/or goods-related. Herric ends up moving in and/or getting the equivalent of a Vegas marriage with Urielte to fend her off. Everyone is disappointed when they ultimately undo it all.

Binna's launch is approaching and Milo is just trying to enjoy spending time with her but everywhere he goes are just silly reminders that she's leaving ("that weirdly suggestive calendar has a rocket in it!").

Patience's teenage grandkids come to visit and everyone is super impressed by them because uep twins are rare. They use this to their advantage. Everyone also wonders whether Patience knows what's going on, because of course they pull the most nonsense when she's not around, but she knows exactly and she thinks it's incredibly funny to play the doddering old lady.

Rae gets into a dispute with the owner of the Evly radio station she runs a weekly music show on. Madge (her sister) and Tirias (who regularly plays on the show and also has technical knowledge) decide to team up and start an Elbas radio station. This turns out to be a lot harder than they expect. It would be fun if they managed it though because then we could have a radio station set.

The port authority of Port Danziger, which is several hundred miles away on the mainland, approaches the Council and suggests they pay for docking rights even though that doesn't make any logistical sense. Nidilaenn sets out to discover whether it really is that far to sail (answer: yes) and encounters a variety of nonsense situations on the way.

A new arrival asks about Rae's leg. She says it was a sea monster. We then discover that the sea monsters only Rigo seems to notice are in fact real, but don't really hang around the island because there's not much meat there. The new arrival does not succeed in locating Rae's fabled ankle bracelet.

Following the previous episode, a human sneaks meat onto the island, which causes a massive uptick in sea monster activity. Something something an entire suitcase getting dramatically thrown into the ocean. NO MEAT ALLOWED goes unexplained into the visitor rules and the mainland press has a field day with it.

Casper returns for the solstice episode without his wife (the one who swept him off his feet and caused him to move away). He says it's because he wanted to spend time with Nid, but Nid becomes increasingly suspicious that something is off. They get sent on a wild goose chase wondering if Casper ever even got married only to discover that their stepmom was late because she was bringing a surprise for them.

Vinnek gets haunted by the ghost of Fira past, and while the moral of the episode is that they have to remember the good times they had with Fira and stop getting on the network to listlessly search for Fira, there's a lot of snarky humor on the way. Depending on when this takes place, there will also be the ghost of Casper past (not intentionally a reference lol the importance is that Casper was and is a good friend of Vinnek's who also left the island) and potentially the ghost of Dez past (another friend who left).

A paranormal investigator shows up and insists the lighthouse is haunted. Everyone says no, the lighthouse is not haunted. Eventually the investigator turns out to be right, though the spirits haunting the lighthouse are just chilling and that's why no one thought it was haunted.

Rae, Tirias, and Ysa team up to turn the pub into a club for Jes's birthday, with the heavy bass he so loves (he's deaf). Unfortunately they instead succeed at blowing out Ysa's custom skylight and invoking the ire of Ellery, one of the few people on the island who has ever been to a club. In the course of putting in a new skylight they hatch a better plan: a sort of silent disco-esque setup where they will not shatter the skylight a second time.

For some reason Haskell has to leave the island for a bit and asks Nid and El, who have been considering having kids for a while, if they would watch Lacey. I feel like everything that happens after that is just par for the course for having a 4 year old around but still it seems like even Nid will have changed their mind about kids. When Haskell gets back and is like "haha hope that didn't put you off of sprouting" the two of them are like "nah. we'll survive it with the power of friendship" with the whole solidarity clasp and everything. Then the shine fades and they say, "in five more years maybe".

Tirias becomes obsessed with a wedding shoot he found on the network and starts bothering Ysa and Jes about it. They misunderstand and think what he wants is to get married when in actuality he just wants to have an event for wearing a princess dress. By the time they get on the same page Ysa and Tirias are practically standing at the altar (I don't actually know how Elbas weddings work but you get the idea). But in the end Tirias gets what he wants and they don't actually get married...probably.

I think there should be a season devoted to Dez being there too, with episodes such as:

The rootspace episode, where Dez figures out how to decode the chemical messages of rootspace and becomes obsessed with sharing rootspace with people ("for the love of god Dez PLEASE use your words I'm tired").

The radio show episode, where Dez becomes the synth.

The toilet humor episode, where Dez discovers that one of Elbas's imports is literal shit, which goes into the dirt beds they root into at night. Have I mentioned Dez doesn't really get toilet humor? Uep and neriem, however, do on some level, even though that's not how their digestive systems work.

The laugh scale episode, where Dez notices that making serious Milo laugh is a particular point of pride among the Council. The Council in turn notices that Dez has never once laughed and try to figure out what would make him do so. 50/50 chance they either realize he can't/doesn't laugh OR some random apparently nonhumorous thing happens at the end of the episode and Dez snickers, which is enough of a laugh to celebrate.

The prank episode, where Dez takes the role of the answering machine that has a bunch of snippets of someone's voice to remix except he has extensive recordings of most islanders, which makes it extra fun. He starts pranking people with Nid but as people discover the prank they join in, and after a few days everyone on the island is in on the prank and there's no one left to bother. But then Casper shows up.

A drunk kdj was both cute and annoying at the same time. That’s what yjh realized after having gotten together with this squid for 5 years. Kdj was attending a drinking party with his company and now yjh had come to take him home. They were driving home when kdj suddenly woke up Kdj: Huh? W-who are you? 

Yjh: You woke up already huh, Dokja-ah. Get some more sleep. *patted him in the head* 

Kdj: N-no but who are you? Why am I in your car? *voice still sounded drunken af* 

Yjh: You were drunk and couldn’t go home by yourself so ysa contacted me. I came to pick you up. 

Kdj: Hmmm i-is that so? U-uhm I appreciate your help, mister but I-I have a boyfriend at home… 

Yjh: Oh? Then why didn’t your boyfriend come pick you up? *smirking, he was in a mood for teasing the man*

hello! i finally sat down and started writing through this ask! i appreciate that you came into my askbox and immediately slammed the button on 'misery', always a fun time lol

anyway. i have ideas. unfortunately if i attempted to fully finished these ideas, you would probably see this ask either in a year with a full fic or in uh, never, so you get this.

There is a teenager.

She looks much like any other teenager bored out of their mind in class.  Chin propped up on one hand, other hand wielding a pan tapping out a distracted staccato on her notebook, perfectly in time with the tap-tap-tap of her foot, watching the blackboard up front but mostly watching the clock above it, waiting for everything to be done. 

She’s so sick of class.  Sitting in one place, trying and failing to listen to a teacher saying shit she doesn’t care about – ahhh, but she’s got to care about it, doesn’t she?  Gotta make sure she knows enough to score good on the CSAT, except that’s never going to happen because she’s got shit-for-brains, shit-for-grades.  At this point, wouldn’t it be easier just to drop out?  Who wants to live this kind of life?  Not her.  Not anyone else.  Who likes school?

…Yeah.  Jung Heewon was like that, as a kid.

“Hey, you,” Jung Heewon says.

That image of her younger self ignores her.  So does everyone else in her old middle school classroom.  The teacher drones on, uninterrupted – and it really is a droning, the kind of indistinct murmur you hear as background noise, only occasionally cut with actual lecture material.

Everything here is indistinct.  There’s a vague sense of blurriness about everything.  The faces of her teacher and the few classmates she remember are clear, or at least, almost clear.  Everyone else?  Faceless.  Unmemorable.

… Maybe that’s the point.

Yoo Sangah likes to think her memory is good, but truthfully, it’s hard to remember the faces of her middle school classmates when she hasn’t talked to them in years.  A few that she kept in contact with, sure, but everyone else, she’s likely to get wrong.

They’re in some kind of scenario space right now, and if the scenario is drawing things from her memory, that might be why everything is so… unclear.  Unreal, almost, the edges of reality soft instead of well-defined, only sharpening around her younger self as she files out of the classroom, chatting with – is that Ahn Minji?  Yoo Sangah hadn’t thought about her in years.

Things only get worse as they head outside. The younger Yoo Sangah is a beacon of clarity, but everything else is just fog, white and dense and casting a featureless pall over everything.

…No.  Wait.  Not quite.

Lee Hyunsung had taken some time to tear his eyes away from that boy he’d once been, talking to one of his seniors – “I guess I’m not really sure what to do.  I don’t have to think about it if I go directly into the military after high school, right?”  In the end, though, there wasn’t any use to paying attention to that sort of thing, not when he was alone.  He hadn’t entered the scenario alone, so where were the others?

Not in his school, he’d looked.  The only other thing he could do is go straight into that strange white fog, even if it meant he was walking blindly towards nowhere.

Except it hadn’t turned out like that.  In the backdrop of nothingness, he could make out a building, getting clearer and clearer as he ran towards it.  So well-defined – that had to mean something, didn’t it?

Shin Yoosung pressed her nose against the glass of the window.  That building, the only one she’d seen in what felt like forever, was getting closer.  Maybe that was where the train would finally stop.

Maybe the train wouldn’t stop at all.

But no, that’d be weird, wouldn’t it?  There had to be an end to the scenario somewhere, and it couldn’t end if she was just stuck on a train that never stopped.  Or, well, maybe it could, but – the point.  The point was that the scenario had to have some way of ending it.  It couldn’t go on forever, that wasn’t any kind of proper entertainment at all.  That was just throwing an incarnation into an infinite commercial break, wasn’t it?  No dokkaebi would let that kind of scenario pass.

Yeah.  There had to be a way out, right?

[Ahjussi, are you there?] she sent up tentatively.  

Still nothing.  There had been nothing for a while.  But she had to keep trying, didn’t she?

Lee Gilyoung had been trying.

But there weren’t any bugs on this train.  Sometimes, he’d get the faintest impression that there was something there, and then – nothing.  If he could get a bug, any bug, he could – he didn’t know.  Scout.  Get some information.  Call a plague against anyone moving against him.  Something.

That was Plan A.  Plan A wasn’t working out, so he was stuck with plan B, which was this: if he kept running through this fucking train, he’d run out of carriages eventually.  He’d run into something eventually.  Maybe the conductor’s carriage, and then he could press some buttons and force it to stop, or maybe drive it into a building or whatever.

Yoo Joonghyuk pressed his hands into his eyes.

He’d really thought that he had died.  Ended regression three, back to the start at regression 4, back in that same train carriage all over again, and this time with a death he hadn’t even seen coming.

He’d died three times now, but the shock of it, even though it wasn’t real – hard to snap out of without a scenario in his ears telling to kill someone to live.

What had happened?  

There had been a scenario.  

He had been with his companions.  There had been a scenario, and Kim Dokja had vanished.  Then that subscenario had kicked in… what was it?

He had the strangest feeling that he had forgotten something.  Something important.

…It can’t have been that important if he’s forgotten about it.  He’d already run through his list of things to do, anyway, not that the list was very long.  He supposed the right thing to do was to talk with somebody, but really, he had no one to talk to, so there wasn’t any point.

There was maybe Mother, but… no, she didn’t count.  He didn’t talk to her, he talked at her, and she never cared enough to give a response back.  If she, by some miracle, cared enough to be upset about what he was doing, then – well.  She could get over it.  There was nothing wrong with him enjoying the sunset.  There was nothing wrong with anything he did after that, either.

With that thought firmly in mind, he took one last breath of the air – cool, refreshing – and headed towards the edge of the roof.

Hello ORV fic ideaaaa (if youve seen this around it’s because I want to share it with lots of people to see lots of opinions! Write it, discuss it, ignore it, if the idea reaches you I’m satisfied😊)

Cough cough tw for kdj’s adolescent years/all the shit involved there:

Scenario Fic: One person in the first meeting between members of the party will be sent back to the situation that led to the first meeting between members of the party. KDJ goes poof in canon-appropriate glitter and KimCom is ready to go to MinoSoft because the first person he met was YSA. Right? Right?

Well:

a) for whatever reason (coincidentally on the way, after failing to find him at MinoSoft and searching, tracking skills…) they end up outside of a Certain Middle School. They are, of course, too late to do anything other than see it as it happens. In fact, they don’t even recognize that small figure as their leader until they see the student id card. (I’m sofa king in love with the idea of the time-related character always being a second too late, just for Pain Points)

b) LSK is there/they see her immediately after and consult her. And LSK knows that it’s not YSA, knows that it’s YJH, knows Why it’s YJH, and promptly dissolves into Panic

c) a third, secret thing

I think this is fun, bc I definitely think it follows the KDJ logic of YJH's story being like fundamentally first and foremost above all other like normaler relationships lol. I think that a situation where like all the members are made aware of KDJ's backstory at once can be fun bc you get to see their reactions and protectiveness, but I probably wouldn't be able to write it well personally just because I think I like everyone having a different idea of the 'truth' based on their relationships to KDJ more than an en masse reveal if that makes sense?

+ I do think that LSK is probably not the person to go to for increased insight here, though. Because of her being in prison and like not actually contacting her son or trying to be a part of his life except for in the version of the world that is like literally his dreams, I think she probably didn't know about his attempt or why he attached onto YJH so strongly. I feel like KDJ's experience with suicide reflects irl experiences I've seen/had better if LSK is genuinely clueless about it, bc in general parents don't understand why their kids need a fictional character to love in order to not jump off a roof Lol. I think that where KDJ would end up in the scenario you describe would definitely be something only KDJ could predict...

Though I could def see such a scenario as like "backstory" or "character's origin" being payed for by the constellations, lol. The surprise that they just get to see a teenager reading a book instead of the juicy meet-cute they were hoping for would be funny.

As tensions rise on the East Castle with the arrival of Emperor Huaxiu and Jianhuren(@arcxnumvitae) at the scene, Zebi(@soulsxng) takes his chance to flee with Princess Minglian(@arcxnumvitae) and bring her to safety. With the help of Enoch(@soulsxng), Huaxiu and Jianhuren pursue Zebi in order to retrieve the Minglian.

Minglian, in a panic, stabs Zebi. Sensing his youngest child hurt, Baphomet(@soulsxng) goes to confront the Tengmen Emperor and his sister, where they argue discuss which details of the night to share with Emperor Charidynn in order to benefit them both.

Sir Jupiter of Ibissia(@fatestouch) spies on everything.

Meanwhile, with Chercia refusing to leave the Aegis and Tahariel(@soulsxng) insisting that they must go at that moment, Allisae panics and reveals that Chercia is their daughter. Tahariel is stunned at the revelation and the younger princess continues to refuse to leave. Seeing no other choice, Wrenn puts Chercia to sleep via magic. While this angers her knight, Jinx(@fatestouch), he ultimately decides that he is outnumber if he were to choose to fight. And with thought that Chercia wasn't safe on the Aegis with Tristan, Jinx agrees that he and Chercia would leave with them.

Princess Lazuli(@desiderium-eden) is reunited with her daughter. After seeing them safe, Crown Prince Mikhail of Navka and Prince Dmitri(@desiderium-eden) leave to go see what is happening on the North Castle, where Mikhail finds that the explosion and fires in the tower is nothing but an illusion.

Handmaiden Souji(@akumanoken) is taken somewhere safe by Melchior(@soulsxng) after the run-in with Prince Tristan in the airship port tunnels, while Zahine(@soulsxng) handles the prince himself.

Tahariel finally flies away from the Aegis with Allisae, Liliana, Wrenn, Chercia, Jinx, Qamis, Nesa, and Simni. However, unbeknownst to them, they are followed by a hidden Enoch, Jai, Ysa, and Baphomet(@soulsxng).

Fourth Imperial Princess Avelan watches his twin sister flee the Aegis. Prince Jai looks at him sadly, before proceeding. Prince Cecil(@fatestouch) also looks on, sadly :C Until his son, prince Cari, rushes to them carrying his younger brother.

Crown Prince Azrael of Greenhaven(@fatestouch) secretly arranges a meeting with King Tartarus of Ibissia(@fatestouch).

Huaxiu, Minglian, and Jianhuren eventually meet up with Xiaodan, Meihui, and Zhifeng. After a confusion of the whereabouts of Zhaohui(@arcxnumvitae), the group quietly moves to the grand library in order to more privately discuss the night.

Darrow(@soulsxng) tries to convince Zhaohui that sleeping outdoors is nice.

Dame Azalea(@fatestouch) sneaks into the palace dungeons to free Dasanne Navarro.

Fifth Imperial Prince Nero, the one causing the illusion of the fires in the North Castle, passes out, which leads to the illusion disappearing. He is discovered by Third Imperial Princess Riliane and her half brother, Wynn Kingsley. They quietly take him to the Grand Library.

All her previous ‘specs’ had become obsolete in this new world. But she was too good to be jealous of other people. Thus, her inferiority complex was quietly festering.

Logic Fallacy Detection in the Biden-Trump Presidential Debate

In this article, we are exploring whether, during the debate, President Biden made an argument with a logic fallacy.

President Biden said, “Look it up. Go online. 159-58, don’t hold me to the exact number, presidential historians. They’ve had meetings, and they voted who was the worst president in American history, From best to worst. They said he [Donald Trump] was the worst in all of American history. That’s a fact.”[1]

Let's go online and fact-check the source that President Biden cited. According to the "Presidential Greatness Project Rankings 2024," Trump was the last name on the chart.[2}

P2: The Presidential Greatness Project, which is made up of presidential historians, is an authority on the relevant subject. (we will concede, yes)  P3: Everything an authority says is true. C: Trump was the last name on the list.

In the “Presidential Historians Survey 2021,” Donald J. Trump was ranked 41 of 44 Presidents by presidential historians. President James Buchanan was the last name on the list.[4]

The Answer to the Article Question The statement, "They said (mom says) he [Donald Trump] was the worst in all of American history. That’s a fact." Premise 3 of the argument is fallacious. Other presidential historians (an authority) ranked President James Buchanan last on the list.

A better debate statement to look it up, go online. Those 159-58 presidential historians ranked him last for being the worst. America, that is the results of the Project. Citing the results of the Project is not fallacious. The Project did rank Trump last.
