Deny her the sweet nectar of a crisp treat? “Did you feel like, a cosmic pull towards the job? Were you bullied as a kid? Malachi could relate to the feeling of just needing to hit something. There was something special about taking all of the thoughts buzzing around in your head and centering them on a single target that couldn't be hurt regardless of how many times or how hard you hit it. He found it centering, therapeutic even. "I hear you," he replied as he moved further into the room. "Should be finished by the end of the month, if everything goes according to plan." The contractors didn't anticipate anything delaying the timeline, but you never knew with these kinds of things.

"How was your day," Malachi asked. As he spoke, he wrapped his hands, the motion like second nature to him. "Any clients give you trouble? Or was it all run of the mill stuff?" Mal didn't want to pry, but he wanted Elijah to know that there was space here if he wanted to talk about whatever was bothering him. While Mal had found hitting a bag to be therapeutic, he'd also found that talking to someone could be therapeutic in a different way, and he wanted to provide the same opportunity for Elijah. "Mind if I join you?"

Rusty smiled as he heard the familiar siren of Elijah’s Police car, just one short burst to let him know he was waiting outside of the building. He swiped two thermos flasks from the kitchen counter before making his way downstairs. As expected, his friend was parked patiently at the curb, waiting as always to take him to his meeting. Their relationship hadn’t always been so easy, starting with a night he struggled to remember, in which Elijah had dragged him from the street and driven him home after calling an emergency contact from his phone. Perhaps not his finest moment. He had woken up the next day to find the man had taken his pills, something he was still bitter about despite reaching eight months of sobriety. It was only that afternoon, as he was coming down and nursing a hangover, that a friendship miraculously began to form. Apparently they shared in some very similar issues and he had driven by to make sure he was okay. Not only that, he had been open and honest and trusted him in a way that most people hadn’t dared to at the peak of his addiction. It took a long time and many conversations for him  to swallow his pride, but with a little encouragement, he had taken Elijah up on the offer to drop him off at any meetings Matt wouldn’t be joining him for. And he would forever be grateful for everything his friend did to ensure his well being. He pulled open the passenger door, climbing in and handing Elijah one of the flasks. Hopefully the one containing coffee. He tried to remember which contained his own hot chocolate but had been in too much of a rush to fully pay attention when pouring the drinks. “Morning, Officer.” He teased, pulling the door shut behind himself and turning in his seat to properly face him. “Made any arrests today?” @exrcsenberg​
