The mayor of Whitehorse says she's concerned about more landslides along the escarpment on Robert Service Way. This is after a slide on Saturday closed the road. Parts of the road will stay closed for now, with barricades in place. This is as well as along the Millennium Trail and the escarpment trail. Mayor Laura Cabott said the city advised that people are dangerous in certain areas.

"We're very concerned about that. And it's not just along Robert Service Way," Cabott said Tuesday morning. "We've been advised by engineers looking at [the escarpment] that there are more tension cracks and movement along the escarpment right now."

It was closer to the city than last year's slide and thus didn't get caught by the retaining wall built last year. Cabott said more retaining walls are possible, but they're meant to be temporary.

"It's not a solution to get us out of this problem in the long run," she said. "A long-term solution is what the city requires at this point." That will require a "mega project," likely costing tens of millions of dollars, Cabott said later Tuesday.

She said the city is talking with the territorial government, the federal government and engineers to determine what's needed. But it's too early to tell what could keep the road safe from future how such a project could be funded.

"Going forward, it is a very hefty price tag, which the city cannot take on alone," Cabott told reporters. That would be on top of a $10 million project to replace the Takhini sanitary trunk line. This carries nearly half the city's raw sewage to the Marwell lift station. A tension crack on the escarpment puts it at risk.

"If we don't deal with that, the slides will destroy it," Cabott said. "And then we'll have a huge mess." Jeff Bond, with the Yukon Geological Survey, said Yukoners should expect more landslides this year.

The latest slide comes just weeks after he warned of landslide season. "We didn't have quite as much snowfall as the year before, but it was still quite high," he said over the weekend.

"We had plenty of areas that were set up for failure last year that didn't fail, and so, you know, you have to anticipate more activity." Saturday's landslide wasn't prompted as much by meltwater as last year's slide, he noted — and it didn't come as a surprise, since the city's engineering consultants had been keeping a close eye on that area.

He said the steep parts of the escarpment are the areas they need to monitor. "The entire slope isn't an issue - but there are certain zones that are potentially problematic. This was an example of one of those zones, where you have a little bit of sediment that has sort of hung up on the slope," he said.

City engineer Taylor Eshpeter told reporters Tuesday that this weekend's landslide was smaller than those seen last spring. He said the larger slides last year included 3,000 to 5,000 cubic metres of material. Taylor said there's no thorough estimate for this weekend yet, but he guesses about 500 cubic metres of soil will slide Saturday.

At Tuesday's news conference, Cabott said the Robert Service Highway will remain closed indefinitely. "There are new tension cracks identified and the slope continues to show signs of instability," she said.

Cabott said crews will continue to assess the slope to see when the road reopens. That might require an intermittent or partial reopening at first, she said, but drivers should prepare for "significant disruptions" this spring. She urged people to respect closures for their safety.

Parts of the Millennium Trail and the upper escarpment trail remain closed. Alternative routes are already in place for buses affected by the slide. Cabott said the city is considering offering temporary free transit to ease traffic congestion while the road's closed. That's something the city did after last year's slide.

Whitehorse's acting fire chief Jason Wolski says there's currently no threat to residents living along the cliff base. "If there is a concern, we will definitely alert people and put plans in place to notify people and, if need be, evacuate them."

Point Horror collection/Goosebumps and all the others: Best book collection(s) I own, collecting them over the years really shaped me as a person, I love the chilling stories told by such amazing writers and don't get me started on the book covers..

The Mediator series by Meg Cabott: I love so many different trilogies Meg has written but this one in particular realllly is my favourite😍, she is one of my favourite writers and I love how detailed and badass her main characters are especially Suze in the mediator, every single book of the Meditator series is amazing and I hope to god it never gets adapted into a show because nobody could do this series justice.

Interview with the vampire trilogy by Anne Rice: I love ALL of Anne's books and was so upset when I heard she had passed, she has left a legacy behind and I simply loved the unique adaptions that have followed the books including this year's show. In depth characters and deep deep plot just my kinda thing.

The Sandman by Neil Gaiman: Neil is a legend and has countless of amazing books but the sandman book/graphic novel is 10000% my favourite of them all. The characters, the lore, the art. Just beautiful.

Keeper of the lost cities by Shannon Messenger: A much lighter carefree fantasy trilogy that I stumbled upon and accidentally became obsessed with, usually fantasy isn't my thing but this one is AMAZING I recently just got the newest book in the series and can't wait to read...

Virginia Andrews books.. A LOT of ppl criticise her works and I can understand why.. she has veryyyy dark books and I probably started reading them WAY to young but I can't help but love them and her writing style was incredibly unique and I will never part with my collection.

The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde was such a beautiful book and I felt so speechless by the end it really made me think deeply and its Oscar Wilde, who was a master of literature and poetry. What more is there to be said?

Jacqueline Wilson THE OG, the first books I ever read were hers and to this day my collection of her books grow, her books remind me of my childhood whilst also touching on the issues young teens face, she will always have a special place in my heart.

Elevator Nights

Your whole life there was only one thing you ever wanted to do in your life. Be a prosecutor. It was your dream. 

It’s the only thing that ever mattered to you. So you hit the books and made sure to make your dreams come true. 

You went to Yale University and Harvard for law school. You had never partied more than when you passed  the Bar exam. 

It was the best day of your life. The second best say is when you got the job as the new ADA.

Your first day was super nerve wracking but everyone made you feel so welcome. 

The moment you walked through the door you knew you were where you meant to be. 

Where you worked so hard to get. It felt like all the late nights, the stress and the anxiety was worth it. You knew you had made it. 

Your bosses Casey Novak and Alex Cabot was amazing. They were so nice and so welcoming.

 They made you feel welcomed and never like the outsider. They taught you so much. You sat second chair with each of them. 

While you loved working with both there was one person who you like a little bit more. Casey Novak. 

She was strong and beautiful and badass. She never took shit from anyone and was so independent.

 So of course you fell head over heels in love with her. But she was your boss you couldn’t. 

You tried so hard to push the feelings down but you just couldn’t. You would purposely stay late and come in early just to see her. You would go out of your way sometimes on purpose and sometimes not to ask her the questions. To look over your work. 

The rest of the office started to notice. The whispers and the gossip at the water fountain.

 They would talk and giggle behind your back. You tried your best to dismiss the rumors. Told everyone they were just seeing things. 

You didn’t wanna risk your job or risk Casey herself finding out. The thought of her finding out gave you anxiety.

 So you stopped going to her office as much. You were the first to go home and one of the last ones to come in the morning. 

Casey started to notice. She missed you coming and she missed you volunteering to sit with her on second chair so she didn’t have to assign it to you. 

The smell of your perfume it was intoxicating. She would stay late to just to see you because she knew you were. 

Those side by sides in the elevator late at night and early in the morning. You both thought the same thoughts.

 Holding each other hands and walking home with each other. Those late night dinners the two of you could have. The secret jokes you could have. 

Neither of you knew what to do about it. She was your boss neither of you knew what to do.

 But when you both lie awake at night. Thinking what it would be like to lie next to each other. How comforting it would be. 

One morning while getting dressed you thought enough is enough. That even though you had your dream job you weren’t living.

 What was the point if you could never feel true happiness. No matter what happened you were gonna give your self a chance to know what it is like to be happy. 

You knew she would be staying late today. So you did the same you decided to stay late. While it was just the two of you. You were telling her how you felt and no matter what happened you were proud of yourself. 

The day felt like it was dragging and going by slow at the same time. 

Everyone was clearing out and you stayed behind and wished everyone a good night. You and Casey were eating dinner together. Some left over Chinese food in the fridge. 

It was quiet silence for a while. Casey got up and threw her stuff away when you felt like now was a good time as ever. You stood up and got her attention 

“Hey Casey I wanted to talk to you about something and it’s a lot so hear me out until the end.”

You said to her 

Neither one of you knowing that each of your hearts was beating so loud. Both of your palms were sweating. Both had blush in your cheeks across your face. 

“Yeah of course go ahead.” she said to you

You took a big breathe in and worked up the nerve. 

“From the moment I started here I have felt these feelings for you. I like you a lot you like romantic feelings.” you told her and you felt like you were going to throw up and or pass out you were so nervous. 

She didn’t say anything, no words were needed in this moment. 

She leaned in and kissed you. It was like fireworks going off and both of your lips were molded perfectly for each other. You kissed her back and it was passionate. 

Once you both pulled away for air she caressed your cheek with her finger. 

“ I feel the same exact way.” she said and pecked you back. 

After you both packed up for the night. You both had much to talk about but Casey reassured you that your job was perfectly safe. 

And for the first time in a long line of many nights together you both held hands in the elevator that night.
