Third POV:
Mable turned over onto her side, and smiled into Quinn's side. She had been here longer than those three days she promised herself. After getting coffee the day after they had confessed there feelings for one another, he had convinced her to finish out the summer with there families. Which now meant, she only had a few days left before heading back to California for school. That night on the boat, had cememented her feelings about staying longer and then the coffee run confirmed that she indeed, needed to stay. or else, she would feel the wrath of Jack Hughes, which was so not needed after a night of drinking. Quinn wrapped his arm around the girl, and kissed her head, hoping she was awake and that they could sneak away to get some coffee before everybody woke up. "Hmm, good morning handsome." Mable murmured wrapping her arms around his toned torso, sending waves of butterflies through his stomach. "Morning, sunshine." He murmured back, rubbing her exposed back. "Ready for some coffee?" He questioned and she nodded as she began to stretch. She brought the comforter up to her chest, turning around and pecking the dark haired boy. "Hi." She mused, giving him a grin. He smiled widely, reconnecting there lips together. They were going to miss this the most, the blissful feeling of knowing that they will wake up together, and enjoy some quiet time before beginning there day.
They exited Quinn's car going to there favorite coffee shop on a nearby lake, where you could sit and look out over the said lake. Mornings were spent here frequently, some where the future was spoken about and how to navigate it or the plans for the by week he had in the new year, the possibility of plans if he did not make the Allstar break. She would fly out to him when her breaks allowed it, he would meet her when he came out to California for games. They would make it work, they were Mable and Quinn after all. Those two would and could do anything they put there mind's too. Quinn looked over at the girl he had a crush on for many moons as she watched the morning sun rising. "Im gonna miss it here, I don't want to leave." She gently said, savoring the morning heat. Quinn smiled softly, reaching over and taking ahold of her hand. "It'll miss you too and your abundance of never ending sarcastic jokes." He said making her blush. "Besides, now that youre back, you'll never want a summer without." He added and she nodded. "Or I will bear the wrath of Jack." She said rolling her eyes playfully, before sipping more of her iced coffee.
Mable felt incredibly at peace, and she derserved that beyond belief. She had grown tired of putting on a front in front of her friends back in California, and you could see the changes in the way she presented herself, the way she spoke, what she spoke about and how she didn't second guess herself anymore. She no longer was nervous and afraid of what people had to say or think about her. In change of events, she was itching to play piano again. She missed it and the way that it transported her to a place of peace and quiet. Nobody knew that though and she wanted to surprise them at some point before she left. Being back at the lake, has shown her that she deserved to live the life she wanted. She deserved to be happy, and she would do anything and everything to make that happen when she went back to California. Quinn would do everything in his power to help her out in that aspect, and promised her he would be there every step of the way while being long distance. He wouldn't let her walk out of his life ever again, even if they break up. He wouldn't let her do that to him or his brothers and parents.
Mable and Quinn walked into the Hughes lake house to see Luke up making some breakfast. Mable plopped down on the bar stool facing him, grabbing the bowl of fruit that he had put out. "So, what's on your agenda for the day?" She quizzed the curly haired boy. He shrugged, "I wanna get out the picketball in the driveway." He responded and she clapped her hands together, "You have too!!! Gotta use my secret tennis skills from back in the day." She smirked causing the boys to groan. "God forbid, we forget you had many private lessons as a kid." Luke mused causing her to giggle. She hummed eating some strawberries, while scrolling on her phone. "So when are you leaving for California again?" Luke asked and she looked up, "Two days, day before you guys leave." She responded as her leg began to shake. A nervous tick she had picked up from years ago, her dad forming the habit long before that. "Didn't you say you met the Brissons?" Quinn asked and she nodded. "Yeah, I think my friend Lexi and Brandon? The oldest? Are still seeing one another." She said nonchalantly. "Wow, didn't think he had it in him." Luke joked causing Quinn to laugh. "Same with Lexi, she definetly has him wrapped around her finger. That's for sure." She joked, getting off the seat and began to walk outside. "Thanks for the fruit Luke, ill see y'all later!" She announced walking out there sliding back doors. "Bye Mae!" They both echoed back, and watched as she walked off. "Please tell me you guys are staying together." Luke said as soon as the door shut. "Yeah, I know we haven't said anything but we are doing long distance." Quinn responded putting a smile on Luke's face. "Oh thankgod." he laughed, grinning like a fool. "Good, because she can never fall off the face of the earth ever again." he added and Quinn hummed in response. Luke more than enjoyed his fellow youngest sibiling. They both together, withstood the playful nagging and jokes from there older sibilings.
Mable walked back over towards her family's lake house and she sighed, as soon as she saw her dad outside on the deck reading the newspaper. "Morning pops." she smiled walking up to the deck. He set down the paper and smiled, "Morning sunshine. How are you this morning?" He questioned as she sat down next to him. "Im good! Still trying to wake up?" She smirked at his coffee, and then at him. Let's just say, Jim and her dad had spent sometime on the boat last night before clocking in. They more than likely, had one too many. Something they saved for the end of the summer. One last deep conversation to end the trip. Mable's dad chuckled, nodded and sipped his coffee. "Your mama is up, she was looking for you." He said and she nodded getting up and walking inside the house. "Mama, good morning." She mused in Phillipino. "Mae! My sweet girl, I was looking for you this morning." She replied back in Philipino. Her mom wrapped her youngest in a big hug, "Im gonna miss you so so much when you go back." The ever sentimental mother cooed. Mable playfully rolled her eyes, "Me too. Only one more year." She smiled. "Too long." her mom responded, going back to the stove. "Hey, Ellen and I have been meaning to ask you something, love." Her mama started and Mable froze as she grabbed a glass cup to make some more iced coffee. "MM HM." Mable said, unsure of what her mama was going to say. Mama turned around smiling like a fool, "We wanted to see if you wanted to play for us tomorrow evening before you leave. We are having quite the feast for everybody. And it would only end right if you ended with your annual concerto." She said gleefully. Mable shrugged dumping ice in the cup and went to the expresso machine to make some expresso. "I don't know mama, it would only be if I felt comfortable enough to. It's still something I am working on in therapy. Ok? Maybe, I don't know." Mable responded in a jumble. Like yes, she would love to perform for them and end the vacation on a high note but she still wasn't sure if it was something she would enjoy doing. It would almost feel like a chore, she kept thinking. But she did miss it, it was something that was nagging at her. Truth be told, she had moved on from the topic in therapy and was working on another set of things. "You know, I actually just might." She smiled, dumping the expresso in her cup of ice. "Really?" Tabitha asked walking in, hugging her little sister. Mable nodded, "Yeah, ill need to practice though. Im a bit rusty. Don't let the Hughes anywhere near the house today." She said half joking, half serious. The mother and sister nodded happily, as Mable set up her office her office for the day.
The following evening, the Hughes made there way to the Bennett's lakehouse for there annual end of lake season dinner. This year they would be eating some traditional Philipino food such as Adobo, Lechon and Sisig to name a few. Philipino food was a secret guitly pleasure of the hockey family, and would transport them back to a time of innocence and make belief as kids. Mable walked outside with a pitcher of lemonade and a tray of Adobo. "Oh yes!" Jack said eyeing the Adobo, causing Mable to laugh. "Oh baby!" Ella said taking notice of the two desserts the Hughes were bringing over. She made grabby hands at the Jewish Baklava and Lekach, that would satisfy the sweet tooths the Bennett's had. "Made it just for you sweet ella." Ellen smiled, giving the eldest daughter a side hug. "So sweet, thankyou." Ella smiled taking the tray gratefully. Ellen took sight of Mable and smiled, as Mable walked over to give her second mama a hug. "Hi mama." Mable smiled pulling her in for a hug. "Hi Mae, are you all set for the trip back?" she questioned, pulling away and Mable nodded. "Yeah, just need to get on the plane." She smirked before walking away. Quinn didn't want to admit it but he was scared about there future a little bit. He feared that them doing long distance was going to change there relationship. And it would, but not in the bad way that he feared. Mable was all in and Quinn needed to be reassured that despite the 2 hour and 50 minute flight between them, was doable. Long distance was doable as long as they had constant communication. Yet, what Quinn felt was more than understandable. Quinn was knocked out of his thoughts as Jack shoved him a bit to sit down. Quinn sat next to Mable on her right, and Jack to her left. "Please for the love of god, don't make a mess." She playfully scorned Jack at previous feast shenanigans. He cluthched his chest playfully, "Don't come for me like that Mae." He said dramatically causing her and Quinn to laugh. After a traditional Philipino grace, they all dug in.
"So who's excited for the new school year?" Ellen questioned Mable and Luke who both shrugged. "Still doesn't get any easier." Mable joked, earning a few chuckles. "Don't particually enjoy 90 degree dorms either." She added and had knowing nods. "But, it's my last year so. Then Ill be gone." She smiled, with Quinn taking a peek at her. She didnt look towards him, "Do you know you want to go? or do?" Jim questioned and she nodded. "Im thinking of Chicago, they have an amazing music program there if I decide to go to school for my masters or they honestly have amazing jobs there." She said innocently. Quinn was taken back a bit, she had never said that to him. Now, he realized that they would be spending more than one year apart long distance. "Chicago?" Jack questioned, peering over at his twin and she nodded. "Yeah, it's a place I've enjoyed visiting and can see myself there." She responded and everybody nodded. They all had one thought: Quinn. Did he get a say in this? Did he have a place in her life after this summer? "But it's not set in stone, ill go wherever I feel like going." She quickly added, feeling the thoughts of her family. "Besides, then ill be closer to this tall dude and maybe he won't be such a pain in the ass." She playfully threw at Luke, causing everybody to laugh. "Oh come on Munchkin! Im not that bad!" Luke defended himself. All hell broke loose at this point, which was right on schedule.
The family took the dessert in the house, all sitting around the grand piano in the living room. They all sat down with either expresso or coco, devouring the jewsish desserts. "I need that recipe." Ella said to Ellen who nodded, "Hey! She won't even give me it, that's not fair!" Jack exclaimed causing both families to laugh. "Haha sucks to suck!" Ella said playfully sticking out her tongue, which Jack reciprocated. Mable sat down next to Quinn who pulled her into his side, before throwing a blanket on them. She smiled softly up at him and thanked him as he handed her her coco. The family spoke about plans for the upcoming year and the schedule for next summer, a typical conversation that needed to be had. "You ok?" Mable asks Quinn quietly who hadn't said anything. He looked down at her and nodded, but she wasn't convinced. It was a discussion for later, when everybody went to sleep. Mable returned to the conversation at hand and chatted along with everbody. Ellen took notice of how queit Quinn had been and then looked at what he was staring at, she followed his gaze to the piano and smiled. "Hey Mae, how about you play something for us? A parting present?" She mused, knowing that it would perk Quinn up. Long ago when they were just about 10 and 9, Quinn had secretly been wanting to learn how to play so he could be like Mable. She was already so accomplished at the skill, and he was jealous. He also wanted to learn it, so she did not feel as left out or isolated because she did have those thoughts here and there. She had admitted it to Ellen one time, and from then on Ellen always made her feel proud of her skill and her love for it. So Ellen knew, that Mable sitting down at the grand piano like she had done so many times before play Bach and Beethoven as well as movie scores, would perk the dark haired boy up. It was inevitable, and Mable knew it. Mable looked at Ellen and nodded, shocking the three boys. "Any requests?" She playfully joked as she walked up to the piano. She sat down, flexing her hands after opening the cover. She strummed a few chords, awakening the floodgates. Before you knew it, she was in her own world.
That evening after everybody had gone to sleep, Quinn and Mable met up at her family's dock. This conversation needed to be had. "Why didn't you tell me about Chicago?" He questioned, crossing his arms over his chest and she sighed. "Because, I knew you would react this way when it wasn't even a thing. Me going to Chicago is a thought, that's it Q." She said walking up to him and putting a hand on his chest. He looked down at her, his hazel eyes sofetning. He nodded and she pushed some hair behind her ear. "I promise that whatever I decide, Chicago or not that you'll be apart of that decision, Ok?" She said searching his eyes. He shook his head, looking down holding back tears. "I don't want you not to go to Chicago M. I don't want to hold you back on where you could potentially go to. It wouldn't be right or fair." He said, the girl taken back a bit. "Quinn....no. Don't do what you are going to do. Please." She said as tears began to pool at her brown eyes. He met her's and grimly smiled causing her to cry out. "Please don't. Q. No." She demanded grabbing ahold of his arms. "Please don't, don't make me loose you too." She sobbed, as he wrapped his arms around her's. Holding back his own tears.
6 months later:
By week had approached slowly, too slowly for hockey player. He coulnd't wait to spend it somewhere warm and surrounded by the ocean. Quinn was allset for the plane ride down, something he had been non stop thinking about for the past month after the all star break, when he joined nhl superstars. His stomach grew with butterflies, pulling him back to reality. He could do this, and even after all this time. Everything would be alrigt.
Mable was quickly finishing her tidying of her small apartment in Long Beach, California. Afer returning to California after the eventful summer, she had plunged herself into finding a new apartment that was not in San Diego. Once she found her apartment, she quickly made a phone call to Ellen to have her send over any and all recipes that she loved, something she hadn't done previously. Mable was calm, collected and confidant going into her senior year. She was so unlike the Mable that was seen previoulsy when she was with Lucifer. A summer with Hughes could do many wonders, for her soul and peace of mind. Once she moved into her apartment, she put up photos from when she was a kid. Specifially the one's at the lake, she could never escape the chaos of the boys and she wasn't trying to fight it anymore. She had given up the fight that they would always be in her life no matter what. She knew that, they knew that and the summer at the lake cemented it. She knew that Quinn would be in her life no matter what, together or not they were molded together forever. Much to Jack's dismay ofcourse. Mable looked at the clock and knew she had to leave soon, so she put everything away that needed to be put back and she made her way outside. She decided to catch a quick walk on the beach before leaving, so she could meet the situation with a level head. She had barely made it 2 minutes down the beach before she heard her name. She looked behind her and around, before whipping her head towards the mysterical person. Her mouth dropped open, and hurriedly made her way up to the person. She wouldn't be having a perfect movie airport moment, but like typical fashion, she would be having a beach one.
Mable ran towards the dark haired boy, that had stolen her heart many summers ago. He opened his arms as soon as they were close to one another, smiles dawning there faces. Quinn picked up Mable and spun her around a few times, causing the girl to shriek out loud with delight. She was his person, and he was his. There summer of love did not end like she feared it would but it blossomed into something bigger and stronger. Actual love, all year round love. You could see the extra twinkle in there eyes as they texted one another, facetimed or on the after game chats. It was undeniable the love they have for one another. One that would never falter, fail or go unnoticed and fall off the face of the earth.

Is that LENNON KENT? A JUNIOR originally from NEW ORLEANS, LA, they decided to come to Ogden College to study LITERATURE. They’re THE NEPO BABY on campus, but even they could get blamed for Greer’s disappearance.
PINTEREST // PLAYLIST ( coming soon! ) // VISAGE
⟡ CHARACTER INFORMATION ⟡
FULL NAME: lennon margot elise kent AGE: twenty-one BIRTHDAY: june 4th ZODIAC: gemini PRONOUNS: she/her SEXUALITY: bisexual HOMETOWN: new orleans, louisiana & los angeles, california
+ social, playful, creative - manipulative, impulsive, nosy misc. skills include convincing you she’s telling the truth with her fingers crossed behind her back, getting her way, convincingly copying your homework but not too much and reading 100+ pages in an hour.

ashley banks ( fresh prince of bel-air ) / heather chandler ( heathers ) / cher horowitz ( clueless ) / kat edison ( the bold type ) / taissa ( yellowjackets ) / serena van der woodsen ( gossip girl )
⟡ THE NEPO BABY ⟡
MOTHER: betrophia elise kent – actress / movie star FATHER: kingston kent – retired NBA allstar player, author of two self-help-esque books ( currently writing a memoir ) Everyone loves Lennon. Or so, that’s what she wants you to believe. Born to a professional athlete for a father and a movie star for a mother, Lennon Kent hasn’t worked for a single ounce of attention in her life. Well, except for that of her parents, of course. With a doting nanny and friends who wanted to be captured in her spotlight, the young woman seemed to be surrounded by the kind of fame and attention that everyone yearned for. But alone, at home, when no one else was around, people had little reason to love her or find her worthy of their affections. Turning to literature and falling in love with stories that kept her mind far from Hollywood life would be the only thing that kept her from losing every ounce of sanity as a child. Even with all of the money and fame, perhaps especially with all of the money and fame, Lennon finds herself lonelier than ever.
That doesn’t mean, however, that Lennon hasn’t learned to use the outward attention to her advantage. She will bask in her spotlight for as long as she can, often finding herself thrown off of her game when someone in her circle is given more of a glance than she is. She uses her mother’s success and her father’s career to rope you in, hoping her curated persona keeps you around. The hardest part, however, is that beneath it all, she just wishes someone would love her for exactly who she really is.
⟡  OGDEN COLLEGE ⟡
YEAR: junior MAJOR: english literature EXTRACURRICULARS: Tennis - Singles // Queer Alliance // Book Club
⟡ GREER MORRISON ⟡
RELATIONSHIP: Greer’s Roommate
Everyone always talks about how they wish their roommate would get hit by a bus, for the free tuition or the guaranteed passing grades or the absolute lavished attention one receives when something terrible happens. Lennon might have wished it for other reasons, but when Greer disappeared, her heart all but shattered in her chest. This is the one person who seemed to know just how fucking hard the mask was to keep securely in place at all times. Throughout their friendship and subsequent living arrangement, the pair had gotten to know one another like no one could even imagine. Lennon had even begun to see the moments when Greer almost released the white-knuckled grasp she kept on her public image. It is, of course, worth noting that no one knew Greer like Lennon did. Knows Greer like Lennon does… whatever, the point is that her secrets were scrawled on the inside of Len’s mind as much as her own. She saw so much of what went on in her life that her opinions of people changed quicker than the seasons. All she wanted was for Greer to share things with her rather than her having to find them out herself. Over and over again, she proved to keep the mask on more often than not. Would it have killed Greer to want to be as close to Lennon as Lennon wanted to be to her?

Brian K & The Parkway Set To Release “Straight Through” featuring Cat Popper March 1
Tumblr media
Brian K. Pagels and Stephen Russ, the DC-area duo, Brian K & The Parkway, are releasing their second single, “Straight Through” featuring Cat Popper, known for her band Puss N Boots with Norah Jones and Sasha Dobson and for her work with Jack White, Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson, among others, who provides guest vocals on the track out March 1, 2024 – Pre-Save HERE. But how did a new band that’s just starting out secure Popper on their debut album?  The answer is simple, just ask. Pagels has been a fan of Popper’s vocals since he first heard her sing on Ryan Adams & The Cardinals’ album Cold Roses. “I was immediately struck and moved by her voice,” says Pagels. So, when he heard she was working on releasing her own solo material, he decided to take a chance and reach out. “I filled out a form on her website and asked her if she would consider singing a duet with me,” says Pagels thinking the message would go into a black hole of webforms. “Instead, she responded within an hour with ‘damn dude, I love this tune!,’” says Pagels. After emailing back and forth and talking on the phone “everything came really naturally from there, including the vocal arrangement which I was honored to lay out for Brian and Cat,” says Russ. “They both brought their own touch to it, Cat delivered an incredible vocal take, and that’s the magic you hear on the song.”  Adds Popper, “This song was so fun to sing on and was stuck in my head for weeks!” Brian K & The Parkway just released their debut single “Wind The Clock” January 12 – Listen HERE. On release day, Unrecorded named it a “best new track.” Mayhem Rockstar Magazine said it’s “…a light, infectious composition” while Alchemical Records says the song, “…really highlights this focus on songwriting and storytelling while embracing an energetic and uplifting musicality that is guitar driven, rooted in rock and roll…” “Wind The Clock” which opens with a lilting guitar riff and drum groove, is a commentary on tribalism and the extreme black and white thinking that has materialized in society today. The song offers a means to expel the frustration of it all while expressing a spirit of hope and solidarity with those actively fighting for a better world despite all the forces working against them. “I wanted it to be an anthem for ‘my people,’ those who value peacebuilding, justice, equality, democracy, and universal human rights,” says Pagels. The duo are set to release their debut album, Killing The Bear, March 29, 2024. Most of the work on Killing The Bear was done by Pagels and Russ, but it was mastered by Justin Perkins (North Mississippi Allstars, The Replacements, Lydia Loveless), co-engineered by Zac Thomas at The Jam Room in Columbia, SC, and co-produced and mixed by Collin Derrick. The nine-song collection, a nod to the ‘70s rock sound of artists like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Warren Zevon, is guitar-based, roots-oriented rock, infused with a healthy dose of soul and R&B. Piano and organ play a critical role in establishing the sound along with some horns thrown in for good measure. The duo dubs their sound “coastal heartland rock,” reflecting the fact that their major influences are artists that hail from coastal areas such as New Jersey, Florida, and California, but are known for their own mix of classic heartland rock. Pagels and Russ formed Brian K & The Parkway in 2021. Pagels is from Springsteen’s hometown of Freehold, NJ, Russ is from the Carolinas, both share an innate connection to The Boss and are acutely inspired by him. Although the guys refer to the band name fondly as “very Jersey,” it denotes Pagels‘s name and the fact that The George Washington Memorial Parkway connects the route between their Northern Virginia homes; Pagels lives in Alexandria, Russ lives in Arlington. Killing The Bear’s overarching theme is about our ever-increasing inability as humans to deal with the source of our problems and instead, look to surface-level, near-term solutions, and then declare immediate victory. The songs serve as vignettes about the things we do to cope, for better or worse. Now, with their debut coming, Brian K & The Parkway can’t wait to get out on the road to play it for audiences up and down the east coast beginning this March. They will be kicking off their east coast tour with a special all ages album release party at Jammin Java in Vienna, VA on March 29. Tickets are on sale now HERE. Additional dates below, including a stop in Brooklyn, NY with Diane Gentile. More dates to be added soon. BlockbusterMusic had to bow out of @djjenrock’s 2-year anniversary raid train today (presumably because the Blockbuster corporation sent him a cease and desist letter), so now I’m right smack in the middle of an allstar all-day music fest celebrating Jen’s bitwitchtennial! Then Sunday (1/29), it’s my turn to jump in the middle of the 2-year anniversary of @mrlatinhouse’s Battle of The Decades. I plan to represent the decade that we’re currently on, The Pandemidecade!!! #raidtrain #blockbustermusic #bitwitchtennial #battleofthedecades #twitchstreamer #thepandemidecade™️ #yachtrock (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn9h64Ou_x5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Cuz when you're fifteen, somebody tells you they love you, you're gonna believe them.
Happy December 15th! What was life like for you back when you were fifteen? Do you have any favorite memories from high school? What about embarrassing moments?
For me, my most embarrassing moment was freshman year, Halloween. My older sister (a senior) told me everyone dressed up, and she did in a gorgeous dress as Helen of Troy because her AP Lit class was doing themed costumes... so I wore a full Minnie Mouse dress, mouse ears, tights, yellow shoes, and I painted on a nose/whiskers. And then I got to school and found that the 6 seniors in AP Lit were in costume, and literally no one else. Ugh!
At fifteen I was still a huge Swiftie lol. That was (I believe) 2011, so I had Debut, Fearless, and Speak Now to listen to. Red may have come out when I was 15, but I might have been 16 then. I was going to marry Cameron Quiseng from the band Allstar Weekend and my best friend was going to marry Zach Porter from the same band. We were going to live together in California 😂 I think my whole fangirl phase was pretty embarrassing lol. My best friend was also going to be a singer and I was going to be her song writer. Oh high school.
Nothing as embarrassing as yours, though! I was always just the kid who hid out with a close group of friends so high school doesn’t bring a ton of memories. I met my best friends there, though, and that counts for something. I have my own red head named Abigail (except she’s a brunette named Brooklyn lol).
