I absolutely love that I get the opportunity to photograph people doing what they love. This is one of my friends during a LARP practice last weekend.

Went out to the pier to try my hand at using some older cameras. Took my friend eppleptar with me (she took the photo of me sitting on the sidewalk with my son using a Nikon D40) while I took the photo of the horizon just after sunset with my son using a Sony DSC-F707. It took a tad bit to get used to the difference and changes on where and how to change the settings compared to other cameras I am more familiar with, however the quality of the photos were still pretty good. I wasn't expecting these photos to look so good considering the age of the camera and size of the memory stick (yeah that's right, those really old memory sticks that never got larger than 128 MB but are larger than your average SD card). -Camera

Poison Ivy Shoot

Went to the local botanical garden with good friend and fellow coworker, Jennifer Soriano, and her adorable minies. Truly a pleasure working with them as we tried to make the most of a brief moment before a storm came rolling in.

Jennifer's costume really portrayed her own views on Poison Ivy giving it a nice twist compared to the Poison Ivy in DC Comics that we are all so familiar with.

We actually got quite a few pictures in just a short amount of time. Courtesy of our helpers with their cameras. :) Not only did my son capture some great pictures with the Sony DF-707, but her daughters took turns with my Canon PowerShot as they wandered around, being led around by my son on a wild goose chase.

Obtained a film camera to add to my “collection” and I cannot wait to use it for the first time! This is a 1981 Sears KSX - it had an automatic aperture-priority setting on it, however, I’m not sure that it still works since I heard something rattling inside the lens when I was cleaning the lenses.

I have to restore the light seals and the mirror bumper before I use it and I also have to wait on the rolls of film I just ordered to come in.

It’s been a really long time since I last used a film camera - and to be honest, the last film camera I used was one of those disposable fujifilm cameras you can get at just about any store.

I also have just learned that Walgreens actually still sells rolls of film. I had no idea that there were still local stores that sell film until after I ordered the film online.

It's 50°F and my anemic ass is freezing. So I open the closet going "FINALLY~~~!!!" And I pull out the new addition to my winter wardrobe (okay, let's be real, other than a handful of hoodies and jackets, I don't really have winter wear). So I put on the coat, gloves and hat and I'm like "YEAH~!" I felt super cute and like a 1920-1950's model with this vintage Rothmoor coat on, was even doing the little happy dance in my head. Then, I stretch out my arm and reach for the door. The sleeve slides (way up)... And then I remember "Oh yeah, Great-Great Grandma Addie was a bit shorter than me...
