I also am really into foam fighting, specifically Belegarth cause I'm so cool like that. I fight mainly sword and board, but people are slightly forcing me to pick up longsword. I'm an english major at school, so I love books but really enjoy southern gothic and science fiction.

it's a photograph of me competing in an archery tournament at a Belegarth event. my pfp/icon is from the same tournament:

Belegarth is a full contact foam fighting sport played mostly in the US. we hold big events all over the country a few times a year and get together to fight with padded weapons. it is a ton of fun, highly recommend giving it a shot if you're able to!

i usually fight with a sword and shield but im a pretty good archer too :>

me using my spear vs me using my knife is a funny comparison.

Me with the spear: brain remains on due to accidentally hitting opponent in face. Stay towards the back of the line because I have literally no defense minus my knife. Poke at shields until they move or someone else kills them.

Me with the knife: no think, just fight. I don't use it alone a lot, but if I do, I tend to be a menace. ESPECIALLY if I am using the knife alongside the spear, because I have had people get cocky and think that they won by getting past my spear.

Trying to start up my old combat group with a friend egging me on.

We decided on belgarth rules.

It's week 3. There's reliably 4 of us. At most we've managed 6.

Two guys from the SCA came out this week, to see if I'm one of the guys banned from formal play. Apparently there has been some "I'll just go fight with my own rules" nonsense going on. The problem is that they then take their 10 friends, none of them knowing the actual rules, and just show up at events fighting like rabid lunatics.

It was cool to meet more fighters, but I couldn't convince them to stick around. I apparently passed whatever test, because they didn't stay to warn people away from me.

Also.

I've put the Nightvale eye on my shield. The eye is about 20 inches across and has glow in the dark paint for the crescent moon. I'm going to work some Magnus Archives things about the Ceaseless Watcher into my gear if I can find a cool way to do it.

I've got a duffel bag of short swords, about half of them stabbing legal. A longsword that's not stab legal. Two reds (greatsword and axe) but the axe needs rebuilt, it catches wind and wants to be a paddle. Plus kiddos shield, and our shortswords with our marks on them.

Friend who got me to bring out the duffle bag of swords should be in charge. But it looks like I'm the crafter. Gonna start a guild for it or some such. Crafters, Makers, Creators, dunno what to call it yet.

Simple rules I follow as a belegarth fighter:

I will always call "not your friend". Hitting someone lightly sometimes fails and I don't want to cause people problems

Spite is ok. As long as you are respectful, spite is ok. I literally am learning spear out of spite over reds.

Headshot= I call dead

If I get injured I call dead even if I am not

Never assume someone knows a rule of they accidentally break one

Know your limits and stick by them

If some other magicless person got stuck in Twisted Wonderland and tried to take my place, I'd simply let them. Yeah, bitch, now you take care of these motherfuckers and deal with Crowley's bullshit, see if I fuckin care. Have fun babysitting a bunch of sunovabitches who barely even remember you exist half the time.

I love the angst of "they pushed the Prefect away and replaced them only to miss them when they finally leave", but, also, if I were Yuu, I'd absolutely just let it happen. Call me a pushover, but I ain't shedding a tear for friends who left for the newest shiny thing. And it would relieve me from all the trouble. Guess who's not fighting Overblots anymore? This bastard, that's who.
