Why so many shonen-ai live-action?
A lot of Japanese BL live-actions are manga adaptations. However, most of source IP are of a particular kind. Most of them seems to be shonen-ai.
A trend in Japanese live-action adaptations that I have noticed:
Most of them are soft/lite – little to no explicit content (sex, language, violence), never too intense and goes easy on well-established BL manga/novel tropes.
Such a setup has obvious benefits. This is probably meant to make it palatable to a larger audience, censors, etc. It is also for homonationalism soft-power, you see.
To educate and evoke empathy among a heterogenous audience towards the queer characters, it is more apt to make it more palatable, simple and understandable.
Manga and live-action are different mediums – they have different audience demographic, with a lot of overlap. Main target of BL mangas and novels continues to be (腐)fu-people [fandom: fujoshi, fudanshi and fujin irrespective of nationality]. BL live-action have audience outside this niche. This wider audience is not familiar with the quirks of BL. Example: one can watch a dozen BL live-action (that is not self-referential) without ever encountering concepts like seme and uke. This is not for a lack of seme uke dynamic. On the other hand, it is unlikely that one can go about reading BL manga and novels without learning those terms. Moreover, all that will be accepted/appreciated by a large-number of fu-people might not be accepted/appreciated by rest of the audience.
Transnational audience continue to be dominated by audience from the Global North owing to their greater purchasing power which also manifests in their ability to affect what BL is made. Western tastes dictating queerness in BL is no surprise part through censorship and part through ideas of right kind of queerness. Purchasing power has to be pandered to in the neo-liberal world. പിന്നെ അല്ല!
BL live-action is not always seen as the end product. The value of the IP only grows with it.
BL continues to be a niche area and there is only so much money going into BL production. Wider audience is probably a safer bet – lower risk and better returns.
In the end we get live-actions of BL manga and novels that are not necessarily the most popular, critically acclaimed or both.
There are probably a bunch of copyright/publisher related restrictions on adaptations with IP changing hands and publishers going out of business. Most live-actions are sourced from contemporary works.
Take for example Harada sensei’s works. So many of her works are intense and explicit. Out of all her works – popular and critically acclaimed – the one that was chosen for live-action adaptation was One Room Angel. It probably benefitted from canonical romantic ambiguity between the main characters.
Yoneda Kou got a live-action adaptation for her work in 2014. Since then, nothing.
Many BL (yaoi) manga artists such as Hinohara Meguru, Chise Ogawa, Ayano Yamane, Ike Reibun, Zariya Ranmaru and Rihito Takarai who are famous internationally are yet to get any live-action adaptation. I don’t think this trend will change anytime soon.
I mean, look at BLs that got live-action adaptations and Chil Chil BL award winners. Look at how manga popularity is playing out with live-actions.
Compare this with the short-lived 耽改 (dangai) phenomenon. Between early Chinese BL live actions and ban on live-action BL including censored adaptations (dangai) following the success of Word of Honor, a lot of very famous writers such as Priest, Chai Ji Dan, Shui Quan Cheng and Lan Lin, among others, got live-action adaptations, some censored and others not.
Right before dangai ban, a lot more contemporary and time-honored works attracted interest and investments for live-action adaptation. A bunch of them even landed in development hell.
It is also interesting to note what are stripped off from the source materials when adapted onto screen.
I probably got a bunch of things wrong since this analysis is not based on data. Instead, I’m relying on my fickle memory to guide me. I should probably do a proper analysis someday.
I am craving for more variety in BL live-action adaptations. I want more yaoi adaptations after this year’s deluge of live-action shonen-ai. I want a pinku eiga based on BL manga. I want another Sei no Gekiyaku (2020) level ero-manga adaptation. I want some gei-comi (bara) adaptation. Someone, please make the live-action adaptations of Gengoroh Tagame’s Fisherman’s Lodge and Ichikawa Kazuhide’s Fire Code. Some fire and ice, please.

Primula vulgaris, the common primrose, growing wild in Vlachokerasia, Greece. Learn more about our online courses on herbal medicine & aromatherapy in jointheflow.net Discover my books on bodywork and more: amzn.to/3xhaNey According to EMA, Primula flowers and roots are used against coughs, bronchitis, and catarrhs of the respiratory tract and also to treat nervousness, headache, or rheumatism. In the past, Primula leaves and flowers were also eaten raw or cooked as a source of vitamins and microelements available in late winter. Both flowers and leaves are edible, the flavour ranging between mild lettuce and more bitter salad greens. The leaves can be cooked in soup but preferably with other plants because they are sometimes a little strong. The leaves can also be used for tea, and the young flowers can be made into primrose wine.  Primula vulgaris foliage contains significant amounts of vitamin C. In a study, it was shown that Primula vulgaris extract induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in human cervix cancer cells. In appropriate conditions, P. vulgaris can cover the ground in open woods and shaded hedgerows. It is found mainly by streams, under bushes, in orchards and clear, moist deciduous forests. To prevent excessive damage to the species, picking of primroses or the removal of primrose plants from the wild is illegal in many countries, e.g. the UK Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Primula spp is not related to the evening primroses (genus Oenothera). I prefer FxM or FxY, but I don't understand why some people will ship AxF. I'm Asian grow up in Asia, Asami is typical Asian guys, don't express and smile much, always act as King of the house, and their women/uke have to cook and serve them. May be Westerner find him refreshing. But I see too many those kind of Asian guys in Asian TV drama and real life. Those guys usually match with typical Asian girls that are 20+ look and act like teen, pretend innocent and kawaii i.e. Aki ;-)
Tumblr media
Let me start by saying, by the way, that I am not in my 20s but I totally got the hots for Asami Ryuichi. He is, to me, the very definition of a wet dream, which is probably what Yamane Ayano wanted him to be, for starters. =p
That said, you are absolutely right when you say his initial composition as a character was somewhat... hmm... how can I put it... dissatisfying? And for the longest time I thought he was a nuisance too. I loved and hated him in equal amounts (Ugh, you’re so hot! But ugh you’re such an unrepentant, unfair, hypocritical bastard!)
And yes, I am going to go off on a tangent for a moment because I want to build on what you said about the typical Asian guy. I have plenty of Japanese students who say they would love to stay in the US instead of returning to Japan, and my reaction was always
Tumblr media
Like, how?! How would someone even think about not going back to Japan? In my mind, Japan was the one place where public things work, where people respect the elderly and you can actually have a pretty decent life without having to worry about crime, drugs, etc. I mean... come on! It’s 3 crimes when you shoot a gun in Japan: one for having a gun, one for having the bullet and one for pulling the trigger. Come on! Here kids who are too young to understand violence are being taught what to do in a lockdown, but that’s a debate for another day.
Anywho, I am always floored when students tell me they don’t want to go back home, so obviously I always ask why, and the answer I get from Japanese students in particular is almost always the same. They don’t want to go back to a place where people spend their entire lives working and competing. People here are more friendly and show their emotions. Here they can be themselves.
And as I listen to their stories, I somehow remember everything I read (in books, papers and news articles) about Japan while I was doing my research for Grace Period is Over. Japan does have extremely strict gender roles, and their society is still deeply marked by status and public image - from household to police departments.
Are things changing? They sure are. But for anyone following the fight married Japanese women have been fighting to keep their family names after they get married, it is obvious that the change is slow, very slow.
Finder is a manga that has been around for almost two decades, and I don’t think it is much of a stretch to say that the main characters have been very representative of their time. Asami, as the “head of the household”, has delivered exactly what a strong Japanese man was expected to have twenty years ago: an indestructible reputation, a solid career, lots of money and a sweet little woman waiting at home to provide for him. In that sense, kudos to Yamane Ayano for portraying Akihito as a troublesome, rebellious young man that is still proud enough to refuse to let go of his career to pursue romance (even though he is clearly the woman of the relationship, taking care of the house and having absolute no say in what should happen or not in his relationship with Asami).
Still... gender roles are so clearly defined that yes, Akihito is the one who is emotional, who bases his decisions on intuition and on the desire to protect and nurture. Asami’s thoughts? His true feelings? It takes many volumes for us to even start cracking that steel armor, because as a seme he is not expected to emote. As a seme he needs to provide (money, sex, protection), not to communicate.
That being said, as time has gone by, Finder has kept up with its social surroundings. See the Asami Ryuichi’s Little Monster extras, in which we finally get a glimpse of Asami acknowledging his true feelings towards Akihito, and the AkiNeko one, in which we see him thinking of himself as the nurturing part in the relationship. In the main story, YA has also managed to gradually have Asami transition from the standard SuperSeme to a character with more layers, whose reason to exist goes far beyond dominating his Uke. Now, for the first time, we have entered a part of the story in which Asami is relinquishing his all encompassing power and allowing Akihito to meet him where he is. He is removing Akihito from a scene dominated by household chores and taking him to the action, to the public scene - a domain that has been historically male.
Combined with the fact that now Asami himself is finally opening up about his feelings, what you get is a considerable shift in the gender role situation. Times are changing, and Yamane Ayano is not falling behind, which is good news, especially for fans who expect a bit more... warmth (pun intended) from Asami Ryuichi.

What happens when fate plays one of her dirty little tricks on you, forcing you to bite off more than you can possibly chew? What next -- do you try and wiggle out of it in a bold attempt at cheating fate, collect your free pass and move on. Here's the list of some of my favorite BL: 1. Kuroneko Kareshi series by Sakyo Aya. 2. Ze by Shimizu Yuki (but actually I love all of her works). 3. Kashikomarimashita, destiny by Sachimo. 4. Eto irokoi zoushi by Matsuo Isami. 5. Koisuru boukun by Takenaga Hinako. 6. Viewfinder by Ayano Yamane. 7. In these words by Guilt pleasure. 8. Punch up by Kano Shiuko.
1. Kuroneko Kareshi series by Sakyo Aya.
i follow it with peculiar attention but the main story has been dragged out way beyond reason at this point. i like it, i enjoy it, but there’s just oh so many times i can see kakami getting jealous over shingo for absolutely nothing and fucking him into oblivion.
2. Ze by Shimizu Yuki
answered below :D
3. Kashikomarimashita, destiny by Sachimo.
same here
4. Eto irokoi zoushi by Matsuo Isami.
never seen this one before, read the first chapter now, and no, nope. me no likey
5. Koisuru boukun by Takenaga Hinako.
like, really!?!?!?!?!??!
Tumblr media
6. Viewfinder by Ayano Yamane.
i hate viewfinder, i’m so sorry, i know everyone is obsessed over it but i can’t stand it. i can’t stand abusive, aggressive and rapey semes and pain-in-the-ass, little-shit ukes. plus, as stated before, yakuza story are not my cuppa.
7. In these words by Guilt pleasure.
oh man, i love this one, i wonder what happened to it??? is it still ongoing??? i had a friend sending me updates but they stopped a year ago.
8. Punch up by Kano Shiuko.
i like it very much, the whole amnesia thing is kinda stupid because who the fuck lets someone who remembers jackshit stay at a unknown dude’s house. but the inner turmoil of falling in love with someone and being scared to death of them being still in love with a you of the past you can’t reconnect with was delivered so beautifully. i felt the pain, every drop of it, on my skin, it was real. plus the sex scenes were top-notch perfect.

CONTESSA: ONE YEAR OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
In the United Kingdom, it will air on Weeknights at 8:30 PM before Family Guy. The UK Version will be dubbed in English by British actors. It will also adopt the GMA version for their title card. If aired on CBS, It will air on Weeknights at 9:00 PM.
Tumblr media
March is Women's Month but on GMA Network, Something is coming to empower to your screens
Following the successful year-long run of ‘Ika-6 na Utos’, GMA looked to fill in the big shoes that the former left. They decided to replace ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ with a series that reminded viewers of another successful teleserye from a rival network.
From the moment ‘Contessa”s teaser was aired, netizens immediately compared the series to ABS-CBN’s ‘Wildflower’ due to their similar storylines of revenge. But ‘Contessa’ lead star Glaiza de Castro (from Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, Berks, Spirits, Amaya, Temptation of Wife, The Rich Man's Daughter, Encantadia 2016, Mulawin vs. Ravena) had a different take, saying that her upcoming show focuses more on a woman’s constant quest for justice. In ‘Contessa’, Glaiza is initially known as Bea, a woman who is accused and imprisoned for a crime she never committed. Determined to seek revenge and reclaim those who were taken away from her, she assumes a new identity, that of Contessa.
Throughout the series, ‘Contessa’ will feature some important characters who will be crucial to the story of Bea/Contessa. Marco (Mark Herras, from Click, Love to Love, original Encantadia, I Luv NY, Party Pilipinas, Time of my Life, Hiram na Puso, Sunday All Stars, Rhodora X, Pari'Koy, Little Nanay, Wish I May, Sa Piling ni Nanay) is a writer and Bea’s long-time boyfriend whose gruesome murder will be central to the evolution of Bea into Contessa. Marco’s brother Gabriel (Geoff Eigenmann, from Ang TV, Kiara, Ano ang Hukay ng Pag-Ibig, Kahit Kailan, Love to Love, Hiram, Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin, Rounin, Lobo, SOP Rules, Rosalinda, Party Pilipinas, Show Me Da Manny, Grazilda, Dangwa, La Luna Sangre) is a successful OFW who returns to the country following his murder. Meanwhile, Bea’s best friend Jong (Jak Roberto, from The Half Sisters, Pari'Koy, A1 Ko Sa'Yo, Meant to Be) is a secret admirer of hers who hopes to love him back.
The Imperial family, led by the matriarch Charito (Chanda Romero, from original Villa Quintana, Vietnam Rose, Kidlat, My Husband's Lover, Ismol Family, Pari 'Koy, The Half Sisters, Once Again, Legally Blind) and her children Vito (Gabby Eigenmann, from Palibhasa Lalake, Love to Love, Sugo, I Luv NY, Marimar, Darna, All About Eve, Mundo Mo'y Akin, Pari 'Koy, InstaDad, Sa Piling ni Nanay, My Love from the Star) and Daniella (Lauren Young, from Lobo, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Tanging Yaman, Midnight DJ, Mula Sa Puso 2011, Oka2Kat, Mundo Mo'y Akin, Dormitoryo, Genesis, Hiram na Alaala, MariMar, Poor Señorita, Legally Blind), will serve as a major obstacle to Bea/Contessa’s plans for justice. In typical villainous fashion, the Imperials are considered manipulative, influential, sophisticated and powerful individuals who will do whatever is necessary to destroy the protagonist.
Completing the rest of the cast are Tetchie Agbayani (from Basta't Kasama Kita, Got to Believe, Flordeliza, Dolce Amore, The Greatest Love), Leandro Baldemor (from Encantadia 2016), Dominic Roco (from Qpids, Super Inggo, Zorro, Darna, Grazilda, Indio, Destined to be Yours), Bernadette Allyson, Melissa Mendez (from Esperanza, Anna Luna, P.S. I Love You, original Pangako Sa'Yo, Indio), Tanya Gomez (from Kokey, Oka2Kat, Alyas Robin Hood), Karel Marquez (from Magandang Tanghali Bayan, Berks, Pidol's Wonderland, My Husband's Lover, Rhodora X, La Luna Sangre), Phytos Ramirez (from the both versions of Encantadia, Gulong ng Palad, Mara Clara, Mula Sa Puso 2011, Oh, My Mama!, Alyas Robin Hood), Denise Barbacena (from Little Nanay, A1 Ko Sa'Yo, Legally Blind, Bubble Gang) and Will Ashley (from Villa Quintana 2013, Alyas Robin Hood, Destined to be Yours). ‘Contessa’ was directed by Albert Langitan who came from his previous work Impostora 2017.
Replacing a top-rating series in ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ will be a daunting one for ‘Contessa’. In order for viewers to commit to this new series in the long term, some interesting bits and pieces are needed to make ‘Contessa’ worth watching, a task that is difficult to fill considering it will go head-to-head with ‘It’s Showtime”s ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ segment and "Ipaglaban Mo".
With all things considered, GMA should only hope for the best with ‘Contessa’. It may never be able to replicate the ratings of ‘Ika-6 na Utos’, but if it all goes well, who knows what will happen next.
Through its first nine episodes, GMA’s ‘Contessa’ was only able to average 10% in the ratings according to Kantar. In contrast, ABS-CBN’s ‘It’s Showtime’ raked in around 17%, and while its numbers declined by around 2% during the Holy Week, it was still enough to dispatch ‘Contessa’.
Even the first Saturday episode of ‘Contessa’ on March 24 was a flop, as it earned only 9.9% compared to ‘It’s Showtime”s 17.4%. By comparison, the finale of ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ which aired the previous Saturday finished with a 20.6% rating, 10.7% better than its successor.
The slow start of ‘Contessa’ should cause plenty of concern within GMA Network. Following up a successful afternoon drama in ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ was no easy task, but no one expected ‘Contessa’ to fall way below expectations. However on the AGB Nielsen, Contessa registered high ratings compared to It's Showtime and Ipaglaban Mo, both from ABS-CBN.
In the days leading up to its premiere there were some doubts on whether or not ‘Contessa’ will have a Saturday episode. Initially, GMA considered having ‘Contessa’ air only from Monday to Friday, but when the network realized that they lack suitable replacements for the 2:30 p.m. slot, they reluctantly added a Saturday episode on ‘Contessa’.
In doing so GMA gave ‘Contessa’ enormously high expectations to succeed. Unfortunately, ‘Contessa’ didn’t come close to sustaining ‘Ika-6 na Utos” high viewership, and it also didn’t help that its first foray into Saturdays failed to produce the desired result. Perhaps it is those bandwagon viewers that only showed up during ‘Ika-6 na Utos’ and then switched to ‘It’s Showtime’ and other programs once it ended. Or perhaps GMA dramas have had a history of starting slow and then occasionally picking up ratings midway through. Whatever the reason, it was clear that ‘Contessa’ underachieved from the get-go. Adding a Saturday episode was a huge mistake and the possibility of viewer burnout became more apparent. But as far as GMA is concerned, ‘Contessa’ has had only one Saturday episode so far (there was no episode during Black Saturday) so it is too early to tell. Still, it remains to be seen whether or not succeeding episodes will increase viewership and give ‘Contessa’ some much-needed respectability. The series concluded on September 8, 2018 after 147 Episodes the was replaced by "Ika-5 Utos" then "Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko" on October of that year after Ika-5 Utos took over the 3:25 PM timeslot from "The Stepdaughters". Aftermath Glaiza de Castro, who played a double role as Bea and Contessa would appear in Victor Magtanggol as Pirena reuniting with fellow Encantadia casts, Kylie Padilla, Sanya Lopez and Gabbi Garcia before resuming her music career.

Lauren Young would appear in a late morning series "Hiram na Anak". Gabby Eigenmann would appear in another Afternoon Prime series "Inagaw na Bituin" alongside Patricia Tumulak.
Jak Roberto would appear with his girlfriend Barbie Forteza in a Telebabad series "Kara Mia" which replaced Romero's and Baldemor's last show "Cain at Abel".

Some of my top fave stories
The Courtesan of Lucknow
Novel by Mirza Hadi Ruswa, 1905.
Life Story of a Woman who gets abducted a child as an act of revenge, and sold to a brothel, where she moves on to become a famous courtesan, due to her outstanding intellect, personality and taste.
Time of the Gypsies
Film by Emir Kusturica, 1988.
Le Dernier Chant des Malaterre
Graphic Novel by Francois Bourgeon.
The Pillow Boy of the Lady Onogoro
Novel by Alice Fell.
Quote from Goodreads:
“This “exquisite, exuberant, X-rated” novel (Mirabella), set in feudal Japan, tells the story of a concubine who hires a stable boy to whisper erotic stories from behind a screen while she entertains her master, a samurai general.”
Even if the basic premise of this book doesn’t really work, I still love it so much that I had to include it here.
Definitely in the soulfood department.
Dangerous Liaisons
Les Liaisons dangereuses is a French epistolary novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, first published in four volumes by Durand Neveu from March 23, 1782.
It is the story of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals (and ex-lovers) who use seduction as a weapon to socially control and exploit others, all the while enjoying their cruel games and boasting about their manipulative talents. It has been claimed to depict the decadence of the French aristocracy shortly before the French Revolution, thereby exposing the perversions of the so-called Ancien Régime. However, it has also been described as an amoral story.
As an epistolary novel, the book is composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other. In particular, the letters between Valmont and the Marquise drive the plot, with those of their victims and other characters serving as contrasting figures to give the story its depth.
The Wire
TV series, 2002 - 2008, on black street gangs in Baltimore, cross cut with some police procedural of the cops pursuing them.
May be about to reach its shelf life for being too famous to need introduction.
Les Valseuses
Quoted from Wikipedia, since I am too lazy to write up my own description:
Going Places is a 1974 French erotic comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Bertrand Blier, and based on his own novel. Its original title is Les Valseuses, which translates into English as "the waltzers"[citation needed], a vulgar French slang term for "the testicles".[2] It stars Miou-Miou, Gérard Depardieu and Patrick Dewaere.
It is widely considered one of the most controversial movies in French cinema history due to its vulgarity, depiction of sexual acts, nudity, and moral ambiguity; however, Blier's later acclaim for the rest of his filmography made it a cult film for modern critics.
Jean-Claude and Pierrot are young men who travel around France, committing petty crimes and running from the law. After they get in trouble with a hairdresser in Valence for stealing his car, they grab his pistol and kidnap his assistant Marie-Ange, an apathetic girl. When they are bored with unorgasmic Marie-Ange, they decide to find a passionate woman and meet Jeanne Pirolle, a woman in her forties who is just released from prison and had spent ten years in a cell. After a threesome, Jeanne commits suicide and the men return to Marie-Ange. They find Jeanne's son Jacques who had been incarcerated as well. Then, the four consider founding a crime family but at their first crime, an attempted robbery, Jacques commits a revenge killing and the others flee. While on the run, they meet a family having a picnic near Col d'Izoard and the delinquent teenage daughter Jacqueline wants to join them. They take Jacqueline and on learning that she is still a virgin, they decide to deflower her. After dropping Jacqueline, the three ride away aimlessly.
Breaking Bad
Too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so.
Der Seewolf
One of the classic 4 part adventure series, that would traditionally be broadcast in Germany around Christmas time. First broadcast in 1971, and then literally for decades after that.
Based on a number of different Jack London novels and short stories, that originally had no connection with each other.
Story of a young man from a well off family, who gets shiprecked, and then taken on board by a whaler ship, ruled by a ruthless, self made captain, who refuses to get him to land, and kind of treats him at his whim, sometimes tormenting him, sometimes using him to have conversations with.
Spirited Away
Too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so.
Lolita
Too famous to need introduction for the next 100 years or so, but, just in case:
1955 novel by Vladimir Nabokov
Quoted from Wikipedia:
The novel is notable for its controversial subject: the protagonist and unreliable narrator, a middle-aged literature professor under the pseudonym Humbert Humbert is obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze, with whom he becomes sexually involved after he becomes her stepfather.
Bad Company
Quoted from Wikipedia, since I am too lazy to write up my own description:
″1972 American Western film directed by Robert Benton, who also co-wrote the film with David Newman. It stars Barry Brown and Jeff Bridges as two of a group of young men who flee the draft during the American Civil War to seek their fortune and freedom on the unforgiving American frontier.[1]
This acid western attempts in many ways to demythologize the American West in its portrayal of young men forced by circumstance and drawn by romanticized accounts to forge new lives for themselves on the wrong side of the law. Their initial eagerness to be outlaws soon abates, however, when the boys are confronted with the realities of preying on others in a nation ravaged by war and exploitation.”
Pinocchio
German language children’s tv series, animated in Japan, first broadcast in 1976, and then contiuously broadcast for many years after, due to its huge popularity.
Based on the original Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, while introducing considerable changes.
For some reason or other, I only ever watched this when I was already in my 20s. Still loved it.
Riget
TV series by Lars von Trier.
Kind of his version of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks”, if you will.
Set in a hospital, and combining elements of atmospheric eerie / spooky story, comedy, and soap opera.
The Kingdom (Danish title: Riget) is an eight-episode Danish television mini-series, created by Lars von Trier in 1994, and co-directed by Lars von Trier and Morten Arnfred.
The series is set in the neurosurgical ward of Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet, the city and country's main hospital, nicknamed "Riget". "Riget" means "the realm" or "the kingdom", and leads one to think of "dødsriget", the realm of the dead. The show follows a number of characters, both staff and patients, as they encounter bizarre phenomena, both human and supernatural. The show is notable for its wry humor, its muted sepia colour scheme, and the appearance of a chorus of dishwashers with Down Syndrome who discuss in intimate detail the strange occurrences in the hospital.
Cowboy Bebop
Probably too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so; but just in case:
1998 Japanese anime television series featuring a production team led by director Shinichirō Watanabe, screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane, and composer Yoko Kanno. The twenty-six episodes ("sessions") of the series are set in the year 2071, and follow the lives of a bounty hunter crew traveling on their spaceship called Bebop.
Histoire de ma vie
Giacomo Casnova’s Memoirs
Too famous to need introduction for the next 100 years or so.
One of my go to books, when I am seeking distraction. Just arbitrarily opening any of the volumes on any page will almost certainly lead to someting entertaining. Well, most of the time.
Tendres Cousins
Film by David Hamilton
Atmospheric film about those long summer days. The one example that I can think of, where I find the portrait of family life --- well actually more mother and her sister, with the father only visiting once --- enjoyable to watch.
Sort of a “The perfect bourgois childhood” soulfood kind film. (With a fair bit of erotic slapstic thrown in, but oh well.)
Kids
Quoted from Wikipedia:
Kids is a 1995 American independent coming-of-age film written by Harmony Korine and directed by Larry Clark.[4] It stars Chloë Sevigny, Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, Rosario Dawson, and Jon Abrahams, all in their film debuts. Kids is centered on a day in the life of a group of teenagers in New York City and their hedonistic behavior towards sex and substance abuse (alcohol and other street drugs) during the height of the AIDS epidemic in the mid-1990s. The film generated a massive controversy upon its release in 1995, and caused much public debate over its artistic merit, even receiving an NC-17 rating from the MPAA
  Some of the comic stories by Hagra, here on tumblr;
“dirty little stories”, betwen gopniki, part time petty criminals and rent boys.
especially this one, this one, this one, this one, this one and this one.

RUNNERS UP
(= just faves, rather than Topfaves)
Shameless (UK), the first 5 seasons
Vikings (2013 tv series)
Rome
2005 tv series
The series primarily chronicles the lives and deeds of the rich, powerful, and historically significant, but also focuses on the lives, fortunes, families, and acquaintances of two common men: Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo, fictionalized versions of a pair of Roman soldiers mentioned in Caesar's Commentarii de Bello Gallico.[1] The fictional Vorenus and Pullo manage to witness and often influence many of the historical events presented in the series, although some license is taken.
The first season depicts Julius Caesar's civil war of 49 BC against the traditionalist conservative faction in the Roman Senate (the Optimates), his rise to dictatorship over Rome, and his fall, spanning the time from the end of his Gallic Wars (52 BC or 701 ab urbe condita) until his assassination on 15 March 44 BC (the infamous Ides of March). Against the backdrop of these cataclysmic events, we also see the early years of the young Octavian, who is destined to become Augustus, the first Emperor of Rome. The second season chronicles the power struggle between Octavian and Mark Antony following Caesar's assassination, spanning the period from Caesar's death in 44 BC to the suicide of Antony and Cleopatra in 30 B.C. after their defeat at the Battle of Actium.
Les Innommables
5 volume graphic novel series by Conrad and Yann
Les Innommables ("The Unnameables") is a Franco-Belgian comic series written by Yann le Pennetier and drawn by Didier Conrad. It began publication in serialized form in 1980 in Spirou magazine and was eventually published in album form by Dargaud.[1]
The series recounts the adventures of three U.S. Army deserters – Mac, Tony and Tim – in 1949, as they trek across Asia and search for Alix, who is Mac's lover and a Chinese communist spy. Les Innommables is characterized by its black humor as well as frequent displays of nudity and violence – which eventually ended the series' run in Spirou.
Les passagers du vent
7 book graphic novel series by Francois Bourgeon
Some of the short stories by Charles Bukowsky
Johnny Mad Dog
2008 French/Liberian war film directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and based on the novel Johnny Chien Méchant (2002) by the Congolese author Emmanuel Dongala.
The teenage rebel Johnny Mad Dog leads the small group of younger boys commanded by the older General Never Die, who feeds them cocaine.[1] The film follows the group's march towards the capital Monrovia, and follows them in a gritty realistic manner as they move through a series of towns and villages, where they terrify and often execute the population. The soldiers are depicted as almost feral, committing acts of pillage and rape, with scant regard for even their own lives. They wear a variety of outlandish outfits – including butterfly wings and a wedding dress – and have nicknames such as No Good Advice, Captain Dust to Dust, and Chicken Hair.
_____
There are almost certainly quite a few more, that I can’t think of right now. I might update the list, if I should remember a super important one.
(Although there is a limit for how long such a list can be, and still be of use.)
I left out most of the light stuff that I love to watch, and tried to only include stuff that kind of works as inspiration for what I would write about myself.
I enjoy rewatching scenes from The Wire, Rome, The Soparnos and Game of Thrones on youtube, typically many many times over. In the very unlikely case I should ever take part of creating a tv series, it would definitely have to be one that produces scenes that people get addicted to rewatching.

architekt yaman
architekt martin It is very important understand how crucial an designer is perfect for the achievements any residence construct venture or perhaps repairs. It is because the designer is involved from your conceptual level in the job through into the real development, planning, growth and completion of the task. The architect provides the requisite skills and knowledge of your appropriate demands and layout concepts which can be so vital for that finishing a task. To state it simply, the role of the designer is to accept requires of the customer, fully grasp them and next prepare a concept, and then with a prepare for them. This could be accompanied by specific structure. So that you can accomplish all these capabilities, the designer demands to go through fully certified instruction and amass relevant field expertise to achieve success in his or her place or speciality. In reality, considerable on-palm education is definitely an utter must for designers since their perform can have a direct affect on the protection of the public. In addition to finding the essential certification of design, the architects can opt to specialize in numerous professions which include landscaping design and style, real estate, interior planning, urban organizing, technology a whole bunch more. After all, there are lots of industrial sectors which require skilled architects getting specific talent packages. It is extremely related when looking to get an architect while you should discover a suitably qualified one to meet your requirements. To be an experienced designer, an designer will need an effective certification from one of the esteemed establishments, such as, Noble Institute of Uk Architects, Noble Design Institute of Canada, the Us Institute of Architects in addition to other people. When an designer has been recognized by one of them esteemed colleges, you will be well informed they are ready and legitimate with regards to the industry. It gives a reliability for their standing, yet still, this does not always mean which they would fulfill every one of the specifications for the specific undertaking to be the best designer for yourself. You have to look at their viability for the venture by their willingness to work for you together with opportunity to interact properly so that you can understand fully any project wants. All this will assist in building up your opinion in your designer that he would be able to have any project to conclusion correctly. What is important to take into account when selecting the best designer for the venture is the capacity to go along properly collectively. This does not mean getting to be the very best of good friends in the 1st conference themselves. But just what it does mean is always that there is certainly some affability in between your architect. After all, you would be working together for the certain time period. For that time, both of you must be discussing the identical visionary path in order to achieve the best results. It is essential is that you must pick the right designer to meet your needs during that time. Settling for any 'below par' designer driven by cost savings will likely come back a poor end result afterwards down the line.

Real Important theory here: Asami has a domesticity kink. Source: the fact he seemingly gets beyond turned on when Akihito cooks for him. (To the detriment of so many tasty meals! Asami, you monster!) And the fact that he has that whole short story where he just moons about how nice it is that Aki leaves him food, notes, and watches awful movies with him.
Oh, absolutely. Asami does have a domesticity kink, it’s canon confirmed. And more than just a kink: he really craves those moments of simple domestic bliss.
I have mentioned countless times that one of the things I find most appealing about Asami is that Yamane Ayano has gradually taken him beyond the “super seme” archetype. You know, the guy that never shows affection, that is never needy, that can defeat an entire army on his own, that controls his uke, that is self-sufficient, that never fails, that has absolute power over everyone and every circumstance, etc, etc. Yes, we still do see some of those traits in him, but sensei was bold enough to show us small hints of loneliness (by showing that even in New Year’s Eve, the man is all alone in his condo), of insecurity (when Akihito was avoiding him because of Sudou, we see him come to all the wrong conclusions about Aki’s intentions), of affection (the fireworks extra, my Fair Prince, and so many others), of vulnerability (getting drugged by Fei Long, for instance). Even when we think about the Sudou fiasco… if anything, the whole thing has happened to show us that Asami Ryuichi is not infallible.
But back to the domesticity kink. Yes, he loves when Aki cooks for him. He loves that his little monster has completely disrupted his tedious routine. It makes me think that even when he was a child, there was never anyone in his life who actually made meals an event to look forward to. According to the information we are given in FnS, it’s not as if he grew up in a household where it was normal or expected to make small talk, to laugh, to care. And so Akihito is this fantastic novelty, because he’s so open in his feelings and emotions and that is something Asami appreciates more than anything else. It is the safe haven he has only come to find at age 35, and with the extraordinary bonus that it has presented itself to him in the form of a peppy photographer who is an awesome, passionate lover as well.
Jackpot, Asami-sama.

Fei/Yoh/Mikhail are side charactors, so YA won't show too much detail on them. She rather show how Aki eat chinese food.I prefer FeixMike then FeixYoh, so I think Fei did think about Yoh when he was in the cell, it's just there's limited page for side charactors.I think Yoh will show up in Macau, hope YA spend more page to explain things better for Fei/Yoh/Mike.
To be fair, a panel of Akihito eating Chinese food probably has more thoughts and revelations on page than, say, what Asami gives us throughout the whole series. The premise of the story is defined by Akihito, after all - his point of view is the one that holds more weight, and that is why we hear more of his voice, we see more of his day-to-day affairs, and delve into his psyche. That and, of course, the matter of gender roles in Finder and how ukes and semes are portrayed (more of that in my next ask) explain why Fei Long, Mikhail, Yoh and the likes get much less time to explore their feelings (or lack thereof).
With that in mind, I am unsure of how much more of Mikhail and Yoh we will be seeing, to be honest. I do believe that we will still be seeing Fei Long quite a bit, but that is mainly because his character still gravitates around Asami, even if in less intensity than before. Yoh and Mikhail, on the other hand, might have already fulfilled their roles in this arc, in the sense that Yoh was probably brought in as the contact point that was supposed to hide Akihito and Asami in Taipei (therefore confirming that the events of FnR really line up with the main story), and Mikhail’s role was to unveil Yuri’s involvement with the rebels, and indirectly aid Asami by defeating the rebels after his deal with Fei Long (something that clearly did not go according to plan).
As to how these three characters will connect from now on, we might get some kind of clarification but I am not holding my breath. Again: the story is about Asami and Akihito. The conflict in this arc is about Asami and Akihito. The resolution in this arc will be about Asami and Akihito. How much we will be seeing of Yoh, Fei Long and Mikhail from now on will entirely depend on how much each of them will be assisting/ hindering Asami and Akihito. If anything, we might see Mikhail set the score with Yuri, although the stakes are high for Akihito as well when it comes to the Evil Uncle That No one Likes. So we will see. Maybe Mikhail will handle Yuri and Akihito will take care of Sudou and the other hairy one. Either way, I am not sure Mikhail’s “romance” with Fei Long (again, can I get some bigger quotation marks here?) will be given much emphasis, although there is always the chance that sensei will go down the fanservice road and add scenes with zero relevance to the plot just cause.
I hope she doesn’t, but then again, I have been wrong before, haven’t I?
As to Yoh, I do think we should see him at least one more time. Last we saw of him, he was in a (hospital?) bed screaming for Fei Long, so it’s only fair that he shows up in Macau and interacts one last time with Fei Long before YA sends him back into the shadows. I would expect that when things are all said and done, she will also show us Yoh and Fei saying their goodbyes/see you next time/ maybe consider staying this time?/(or not, who knows), with some semblance of explanation as to why Yoh was brought back into the story in the first place. Again, if the Taipei theory is proven right, I can rest in peace because those doors will be confirmed to open from time to time for those two men to interact not as subordinate and boss.
Other than that, if Yamane Ayano does what every smart author would do in this case, she will let sleeping dogs lie. In a serial like Finder, you are better off letting some loose ends be, because you might need to change things around in the future so it’s always better not to set things in stone. In a nutshell: I really don’t think, or hope, that we will see Fei Long’s love life get any definitive answers. First because it is not relevant to the main story, and second because why make a part of the fans unhappy when you can keep everyone just wondering?

I saw other novels by yamane just pics ... many characters have asami's and fei s faces but asami with more faces than the one we know ... he's even in a UKE spot ... I like him as seme but that was refreshing 😉 ... and in some he looks older but still good suger daddy ... but don't know where can i see them I am soo hurt by yamane I kep the pics in my phone. .. what an evil women still like her dang😧😥
There’s one illustration in particular (and of course, now that I want it, I can’t find it) of a guy who looks very much like Asami sitting on a sofa with a glass of brandy while a nubile young thing with a ball gag is offered to him. So hot. I would love to read that novel, but alas, nobody translates those. (Except for the half translation of Answer. Melodramatic story but absolutely exquisite translation.)

Fear of 13 is a reality based verse set in various cities in the US and abroad. Written by X and Berry, Fear of 13 follows the fictional lives of characters impacted by choice - their own or those forced upon them misguided beliefs and preconceived notions. This verse is about survival. Not only the senseless violence and turf wars littering the streets of Chicago or the sleepless and broken hearted in the city of New York.
Fear of 13 challenges the notions of life as we know it. The comfort many find in death. The pain birthed from matters involving shattered hearts. The constant struggle to maintain both sanity and sobriety in a world where neither are the perceived norm. The battle to remain faithful to the hopes and dreams that existed before fear became a constant companion. This verse will feature adult themes and potential explicit content that will involve drugs, racism, violence, sexual, and abusive situations. While inspired by real life events, this verse and its characters are fictional.
*This verse crosses with the verses Excess Baggage, The Game, Band of Thieves, and City of Gods.
