@wintersovereign liked this for a Taylor Swift starter - Now That We Don't Talk
Tumblr media
"I miss the old ways, you didn't have to change." Jonah knew that he wasn't being fair. Elsa had a lot on her plate, that everything about being here was different from what she already had known. "But I guess I don't get a say."

okay prior to Turin here's how I feel about the songs,, reasons under the cut
(link to tier maker, I added in an extra column)
S TIER
ITALY- BRIVIDI, MAHMOOD & BLANCO
- im not usually a ballad fan but this made me cry the first time I listened to it, its just so passionate !! they both have such beautiful voices and they go together so beautifully!!! I watched their Sanremo performance and it was just beautiful honest to god its in my Spotify on repeat already
UKRAINE- STEFANIA, KALUSH ORCHESTRA
- I love the way Ukraine has been combing cultural elements with modern music in Eurovision I mean we had it last year with SHUM and it just works so well!!!! that's what eurovision is about baby !!! its so catchy !!!
LATVIA- EAT YOUR DALAD, CITI ZĒNI
- im not even apologising for this its an unironic banger its at the top of my Spotify on repeat I listen to it all the time I will not stand for criticism!!! its fun and danceable and catchy and literally just iconic. I will kill myself if they don't qualify for the finals
A TIER
DENMARK- THE SHOW, REDDI
- girlboss moment !! I wasn't sure what to expect n then I thought it was a rock ballad but its just a rock song with a build up and honestly. it slapped. I love a good punk rock drummer the high energy the guitar solo yaaaas I loved it. that drummer hot too
UNITED KINGDOM- SPACE MAN, SAM RYDER
- man has a powerful voice!! im surprised at the uk this year I think we have a chance or scoring decently this year !! I haven't seen any live performance so I really hope hes able to hold up those high notes live !!!! kind of emotional, although not my favourite style of music. vaunt wait to see how they stage it !!!!
SPAIN- SLO-MO, CHANEL
- very catchy song and great performance !! its got that kind of glamorous energetic sex appeal that a lot of people expect to see in eurovision !!!! its got great potential to go viral especially on tiktok as a dance challenge or anything really
AUSTRALIA- NOT THE SAME, SHELDON RILEY
- such an amazing live performance !! such a gorgeous voice !!! its a beautiful song but you still have the sense of camp portrayed through the costuming and drama of the performance and its done so well you can see the story in the performance its just so beautiful I want to move this one up to S tier now pretend its in S tier
FRANCE- FULENN, ALVON & AHEZ
- witchy vibes, loved it, great harmonies all four of them have such gorgeous voices . the only thing I didn't like was that lone dancer she seemed a little out of place, but im willing to bet it'll look good in Turin.
SLOVENIA- DISKO, LDS
- when I first heard it I was like omg I love the vintage vibe then realised it was called disco bc its based on 70s disco bc I have no working braincells. its funky its catchy its upbeat I love it. my main man seemed a little awkward on stage Id love to see him get into it a little more but I bet they'll do great !!! love the bass line
FINLAND- JEZEBEL, THE RASMUS
- I love a good punk song no surprise its coming from Finland lmao I vibe with it it'll probably end up in a Spotify playlist
ISREAL- I.M., MICHAEL BEN DAVID
- he really did it for the girls and the gays !!!!!!! it was camp it was fun it was glamorous what's not to enjoy!! at times feels like a verse on a ru Paul song but I don't know if that subtracts from or adds to the vibe
POLAND- RIVER, OCHMAN
- lowkey didn't think id enjoy this one but I did !! its been growing on me !!!! he has a gorgeous voice and the chorus gets stuck in my head
CYPRUS- ELA, ANDROMACHE
- its not my favourite of this years entries but it gets stuck in my head from time to time and she has such great control over his voice its gorgeous
B TIER
The Netherlands- DE DIEPTE, S10
- its catchy, but its just generally not the kind of music I vive to , great ballad though
BELGIUM- MIS YOU, JÉRÉMIE MAKIESE
- extremely talented guy wow cant wait toes it live I bet if its staged right and this high notes come across well it'll be such an emotional performance, a little too slow paced for me and although he sung it beautifully I wonder what it would have been like if he optioned up after the bridge instead of staying low
AUSTRIA- HALO- LUM!X
- don't get me wrong great vocals honestly, the song itself just didn't stand out much to me . a kind of mid tier song for me.
ROMANIA, LLÁMAME, WRS
- cultural banger girls and gays edition !!!! not my favourite entry but still pretty decent nonetheless
MALTA- I AM WHAT I AM, EMMA MUSCAT
- love the theme Malta's been going with lately with the whole self love and worth stuff, but this years vaguely remind me of Disney channel or like that phase in 2015 where people would release songs about being confident or how strong they and that snot necessarily a bad thing its just. a thing.
SWEDEN- HOLD ME CLOSER, CORNELIA JAKOBS
- again didn't stand out for me much, but she has a lovely voice
C TIER
ALBANIA- SEKRET, RONELA HAJATI
-loved the instrumentals but it felt to me a little too broken up like I love a good bit of chreography but it felt more important than the vocals at times
ICELAND- MEÐ HÆKKANDI, SYSTUR
- I expected to pick up a little more than it did, and folk isn't really my favourite thing but all and all its not a bad song I get why people enjoy it
MONTENEGRO- BREATHE, VLADANA
- powerful voice its great, just too slow paced for me, the instrumentals vaguely remind me of Karma from last year, I vibe with that
GREECE- DIE TOGETHER, AMANDA GEORGIADI TENFJORD
- makings of a viral song if im honest I can see it in a few peoples Spotify playlists, just not mine really. the last chorus was beautiful that was the highlight of the song to me
CZECH REPUBLIC- LIGHTS OFF, WE ARE DOMI
- lots of potential if im honest, its just not my favourite song. nothing wrong with it, just not my style, cant wait to see how they stage it though if its staged well it'll do really well I think
AZERBAIJAN- FADE TO BLACK, NADIR RUSTAMLI
- almost reminds me of tout l'univers ?? like just a specific part I feel like it could go straight into tout l'univers. overall a good song just not for me, bound to be beautiful with staging
NORTH MACEDONIA- CIRCLES, ANDREA
- I don't really have any criticisms on this song, its just not my taste really,
GERMANY- ROCKSTARS, MALIK HARRIS
- I enjoyed it but the rap felt a little out of place, almost like a twenty one pilots song . its not bad though
CROATIA- GUILTY PLEASURES, MIA DIMSIC
- yeah decent song, just wasn't a big fan of the staging I hope they up it a bit more at Turin. what was the point of making it look like she was playing the guitar if she was just gonna stop halfway through. the slight moment she had was good, use it let her interact with the dancer more
GEORGIA- LOCK ME IN, CIRCUS MIRCUS
- I keep going back and forth over this song I don't know, It was a bit lack lustre for me but the chorus goes hard. mid tier
D TIER
SERBIA- IN COPORE SANES, KONSTRAKTA
- I had no clue what was going on this entire song why was she singing about Megan Markle's hair. is there an issue with lack of healthcare in Serbia. I didn't really get the message
ARMENIA- SNAP, ROSA LINN
- this one felt like that 2014 phase with songs like riptide and like the vamps and everything , not exactly my favourite thing . talented don't get me wrong just not my cup of tea
LITHUANIA- SENTIMENTAI, MONIKA LIU
- really just didn't catch my attention, too slow paced for me
BULGARIA- INTENTIONS- INTELLIGENT MUSIC PROJECT
- I appreciate the classic rock vibes the guitar solo went hard but at times it felt like an anime intro more than an ESC song
SAN MARINO- STRIPPER, ACHILLE LAURO
- I know everyones thinking like ohh youre a die hard måneskin fan you think hes a second rate damiano and I will say that I think there was an odd coincidence with timing but no, I recognise that Achille Lauro has been around a lot longer than Må and is a big celeb in Italy and San Marino it just feels a bit odd that he was only selected now given his status and I hope it wasn't influenced by må bc they have completely different sounds, every Italian celeb is a slut even world class chef Gino d'acampo. Was I confused at first, yes bc im not Italian and I didn't know him but I do now. anyway its d tier just bc I didn't vibe w the song that much I just didn't have any strong feelings on it
SWITZERLAND- BOYS DO CRY, MARIUS BEAR
- im sure it'll look amazing on stage but just didn't relay have any strong feelings on it
ESTONIA- HOPE- STEFAN
- lowkey avicci vibes?? just wasn't a huge fan of the western vibe it had going on but I appreciate the song
PORTUGAL- SAUDADE SAUDADE, MARO
- just wasn't enthused by it, I hope they do something with the staging in Turin it didn't really make me feel anything with them just sitting in chairs , I just didn't get a string stage presence from them
F TIER
IRELAND- THATS RICH, BROOKE
I don't have anything to say it just did not do it for me. I just didnt enjoy the live performance. if they use the staging to their advantage they could probably qualify but its just not doing it for me
NORWAY- GIVE THAT WOLF A BANANA, SUBWOOFER
- at first I thought it was funny but its starting to annoy me now lmaoo, but not a fan of the bridge and the whole banana breakdown . choreography slaps though
MOLDOVA- TRENULETUL, ZDOB SI ZDUB &FRATII ADVAHOV
- I appreciate the cultural aspect of it, just wasn't really inspired by it , cant wait to see how it'll translate onto the stage though
this took me like 2 hours its so late but im posting it anyway

Igor is the best album this decade ("essay")
This album had quite the interesting rollout for me. When the album first was announced I heard A$AP Rocky mention how Tyler was really experimenting and reaching outside of what he has done before and really exceeded Tylers 2017 album Flower Boy which i quite enjoyed. I was critical of this, often when i heard artist mention how they ”gotten more experimental” often it turns out not to be true, like with Thom Yorke's new album and Slipknot's new album it usually just turns out to be quite similar to what they have already done but with some new twists. I was expecting Igor too be good, but not as good as Flower Boy or anything exceptionally.
But then the first music sneak peek came out and I was really stricken by it. It was the start of IGOR’S THEME and I remember just listening to the instagram video on repeat. I was starting to think ”what if this is gonna be really amazing”. Then more sneak peeks came out, all really wonderful and my expectation grew and grew until the album finally released.
I first listened to it the morning the album came out and wow yeah. Immediately i feel in love, this is just such a wonderfully beautifully unique album, this is really just Tyler working as freely as he wants but unlike Cherry Bomb which while having some great moments over all is flawed Igor somehow is just perfect. There is not a beat switch, a melody change, mixing or performance on this whole album I dont love with my whole heart. It's just a wonderful little album.
The album starts with what migth be my favorite song on the album, IGOR’S THEME. It's just such a amazing way too establish the whole album, its themes and mood. The long droney synth, then the drums kicking in, the amazing Lil Uzi Vert feature, the little delayed and panned running, then the the synth stops for a little drum break but then comes back until it chour hits. Its just perfect, it's just so lovely and then the strings hit at the end it's just wonderful.
Then EARFQUAKE starts, just a really solid pop song. Some beautiful pianos with Tyler singing the main vocals with his pitched up vocals and overdubs in his normal pitch. Tylers singing voice is really wonderful and he really seems to have gotten a grasp on how to use it on this with full confidence and its great! Simple but poignant lyrics were Tyler tries to convince his partner to stay,  it works really great for the song. And then Playboi Carti verse starts, i cant hear what hes saying without the lyrics up but man those it just sound great. It also ends with a rap verse with Tylers normal pitch and it's just a great way to tie up the end.
Then I THINK starts, a more traditional hip hop song with a great chant, ”four, skate”. Hard hitting drums a thumping bass line and a wonderful bridge leading to the chours again but with the great performance from Solange being more in the forefront and its great. Ending with a sweet little piano leading to the interlude EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING which transitions to the next song.
RUNNING OUT OF TIME starts with the wonderful hook which is just the title repeated but harmonized beautiful with versed heavily leaning on Tylers very distinctive brass synth sound and a really beautiful bridge.
Then! Then we have NEW MAGIC WAND! If IGOR’S THEME isnt my favorite song on this album this is. A bit thing that this album does really well is mix its grittier ugly sound with just really beautiful pretty parts and this song does that so wonderfully. With more abrasive verses with a distorted bass and distorted background laughs with electric keyboards. This album also bleeds great hooks and this song has a good amount of them, first with the ”Like magic, like magic, like magic, gone” chant and then leading to the chorus pleading to not be left alone just repeating ”Please don't leave me now”. Then it yet transitions to a short beautiful bridge and then again gets more abrasive and ends. A amazing song.
Then A BOY IS A GUN* comes on, just a really lush sample heavy hip hop song. Again some really nice harmonization and singing from Tyler and a great performance from Solanges. It also just ends very strong with the ”stay the fuck away from me” line and when the instrumental cuts of at the end with the vocals still left, so beautiful! My god.
Then we have PUPPET which might also be my favorite song, it's just a beautiful song about being obsessed, being codependent and just loosing agency as your falling in love with someone just not being able to not want to for your whole life around someone. Also features a great feature from Kanye West which isn't supper present but his small verse and adlibs really adds to the song. A great song.
WHAT’S GOOD is the albums main banger, it's just a great hard hitting rap song alike I Ain't Got Time! with Tyler gaining more confidence and including some pretty bridges and great beatswitches. This albums has enough pretty bridges to build a bridge over the atlantic! So good.  I see the light.
Then we have GONE, GONE / THANK YOU, the classic track 10 split song which all of Tyles albums have (for the uneducated). The first part GONE, GONE is just a lush beautiful a choir and harmonizing heavy song with a surprise feature from CeeLo Green, just very pretty. Kinda reminds me of Rainbo Conversation in some ways. The song ends with a more melancholic darker ending rap verse changing the very bright vocals and tone too something darker and deeper that very well wraps up and transitions too the second track THANK YOU. THAN YOU is a bit hard to describe, it's more bittersweet and melancholic than the first side, trying too see something positive in the break up but still just feeling done with love forever.
Then it amazingly transitions too I DON’T LOVE YOU ANYMORE, starts with a minimal small intro verse with just a drum machine, a electric piano, some subtle synth sounds and Tyler's voice. Then it just opens up, gets more bright and starts the chorus which a very wavy feel to it leading to what i think is Jack White playing a great little melody with Tyler vocal riffing over it. It's a bit hard to describe with how lose the structure is but it's just very pretty and just an acceptance of love lost.
Then we close with ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?, pleading for a happy ending. Just a lush pretty song trying to keep some kind of relationship so everything spent together isn't lost. With the song starting to get quiet and then slowly building up more and more getting more distorted, a small feature Pharrell Williams  giving a great performance just really driving forward and just giving the whole album a really lush great climax. A very good way to end the whole album.
A big part why i love this album is of course the amazing wonderful production, it just oozes this perfect mood and aesthetic that's really unique and weird. Sounds vintage while beeing very new, like a distorted weird Stevie Wonder album. The mixing too, its not too clean and is a bit messy giving the whole album a great character.
I also didnt mention the lyrics a whole before so i will mention it now, i love them and they are perfect. Ive seen complaints that they are too simple and people who thing that i feel like cant really see what the words meaning can be heightened with the music and I also just think the lyrics very well articulated obsession, codependence, just loving someone so much you want them too never leave so well. Also I love how unapologetically gay the whole album is, while Flower Boy hunted and referenced it this album is just a straightforward gay break up album and its great. I'm very happy Tyler is really owning his sexuality.
I love this album so much, the first day i listened to it i knew that it was just perfect, i listened to the album three times before i got too school and i've listened to it a whole lot more sense then and I love it more every time. This album is gritty, it's pretty, its ugly, its beautiful and it's very gay and it's the best album this decade.
Thank you if u actually read all this. (heh finished this 4:20 am)

How would a date between Martin and Orpheus go down?
OK omg im so sorry this took so long dfjkhklfgdgdkf
the answer is (as usual) both very simple and very complicated in that i have to account for a bunch of aus here lol
however! the throughline is pretty much that theyre 2 boring old men and they dont so much go out on “dates” as its just “oh hey look we happen to be spending our free time together isnt this nice” :’) like its usually not planned
but that said: in the main/canon verse for them (which is just the oblivion main story), ive always had the headcanon that martin, as an avatar of akatosh, has a subtle but powerful influence over the passage of time. like he and orph will have a spare hour or two and just spend it talking and lounging in martins enormous bed and it’ll feel like theyve spent the whole day together...and every time orph will just be so baffled on how only two hours have passed and martin will just shoot him a Mysterious Smile (he has no idea how he does it either, but he knows he’s always had that kind of time-altering hidden talent)
jauffre literally just hates orph because there have been so many times where orph has just watched martin crumble under the pressure of dealing with the xarxes and preparing to take the throne and he just cant watch anymore so he’ll whisk martin away for like a midnight walk, nothing big, maybe they even just sneak up to one of the guard outposts on top of cloud ruler’s wall and enjoy the view. the worst one of these adventures was when he and martin rode on horseback to this beautiful lake and the moon was high and there were lotuses floating on the water but 1) they were near the skyrim border so the water was practically ice, 2) there were slaughterfish in it, and 3) a few weeks later jauffre sends orph to check out the mythic dawn and its literally the cave right next to the lake. he literally almost led martin septim into the arms of the mythic dawn for the sake of a romantic lakeside tryst. martin just thinks that’s the funniest shit ever and dies laughing but they swear between themselves to never, NEVER let jauffre find out.
in the “martin lives & becomes emperor au” i would like to think that it’s very much the same dynamic, like, they put martin on the throne and from that moment he just has to make endless difficult decisions (and fix his musty father’s mess lol) and then every now and then orph, whether he’s the captain of martin’s personal guard or his consort/co-ruler(?), will just burst into a meeting and go “SIRE there’s a pressing matter that demands your immediate attention” and martin, by now an expert at looking serious in the face of orphs bullshit, will frown and go “yes, of course, right away” but in his mind he’s just thinking like “god what has he got for me today” and sometimes they sneak off to an inn in shitty disguises, or they go back and visit the kvatch chantry. sometimes it’s just a DIY candlelit dinner orph has cobbled together in their quarters. martin 100% would not survive the emperor-ship(??) without orph doing doofy shit like this every once in a while, but the tradeoff is that they both give poor chancellor ocato grey hair. (more grey hair?)
and then in the “martin lives because dagon never Tried It” au they obv start that farm together and they have no real obligations to anyone but themselves, so theres not so much the “sneaking away from authority” aspect, but it’s more low-key, quiet things they do for each other. in many ways it’s the ideal form of the relationship bc like yeah, it’s cute and exciting being constantly surprised or ducking out from responsibilities to spend time together, but how much better is it when you just have all the time in the world together, and you don’t have to seize your relationship from the hands of others? it’s things like martin secretly growing orph that patch of cyclamens (like i was talking about in the farm ask), or them cooking for each other!! orph has a surprisingly colovian taste—if it’s not meat and potatoes it’s not worth it—but a huge weakness for small, artisanal pastries, which martin learns to make because he’s a bastard who’s just innately good at everything and he wants to flex, but also he makes a hobby out of decorating them and leaving little arrangements of them for orph to find. he can’t stand them himself tho. in fact martin has to be reminded to eat more often than not; it’s just in his nature to be too lost in thought or in a book to really remember, but it helps that they usually take all their meals together...
so yea...i think emperor-martin-au mart/orph come the closest to actually having proper “dates” but as u can see they make it work no matter the circumstances :’)

“The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” Movie Review
Back on Oscar nomination day in 2014, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 5 nominees for the Best Animated Feature of the year, and while that list included some crowd favorites like Big Hero 6 and more mature blockbusters like How to Train Your Dragon 2, the largest story that day wasn’t about any of the nominations, but one film that was left out of them. Most pundits and basically any critic who had seen the brilliantly creative, immensely funny, and more-emotionally-affecting-than-it-had-any-right-to-be Lego Movie had it pegged as not only a surefire nominee, but surefire winner of that award, and our jaws were left hanging on the floor at the lack of its mention during the announcement.
Despite that though, The Lego Movie went on to be an animated hit in the homes of people all across the world, two mildly-to-wildly successful spinoffs were launched to critical praise, and the studio immediately began plans for a sequel, with directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller not returning to the project as they were already booked to direct the Solo movie for Lucasfilm (which they were fired from, and then they moved on to Into the Spider-Verse and we all saw how that shook out). Thus, we have The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which finds Emmet and the rest of the Lego people 5 years removed from the ending of that first film. Bricksburg has been ravaged and destroyed by the toys of DuPlon, and our heroes now live in Apocalypseburg. But when some of the residents are captured by a mysterious new character from the Sistar system, Emmet must embark on a daring new mission to rescue his friends and prove that he truly is The Special.
I’ve made it no small secret that I love The Lego Movie and thoroughly enjoyed Lego Batman. Lego Ninjago was…fine for me, but I mostly chalked that up to it being very much tied into the popular children’s Ninjago series, which I hadn’t watched. With the direct sequel to the film that birthed them all being not only released but also set 5 years after the original, I was curious to see if the team at Warner Bros. would be able to pull off the same magnificent feat they did in 2014, especially without the direction of Lord & Miller. And, for the most part, they almost do. Much like How to Train Your Dragon 3, I thought Lego Movie 2 was pretty good – just not as good as those initial outings. While there are certainly moments of levity and plenty of jokes from a script by Lord & Miller, something did feel missing in its direction and pacing.
For a start, there are too many musical numbers in this movie. That may seem like a strange thing to say about a Lego movie, especially as a critique to start with over something more significant, but that’s exactly my point. It doesn’t make much sense until one realizes that the studio fell so in love with what worked in the original that they just decided to do that again – but a lot more. Sure, the original film this one is following had an iconic original theme song, and even Lego Batman dabbled a bit in the introduction, but Lego movies are not musicals. Even Tiffany Haddish (who can’t sing very well, as we find out) gets no less than two numbers essentially all to herself, and basically all of them take place in the second act. This not only overcrowds the movie as a whole, but the second act is simply too repetitive. On a story level, that means there’s less time devoted to moving it along rather than just using the same jokes for a little while longer than necessary. They’re not bad jokes, and some of them are actually quite funny, but that zippiness that was so profound in the original film is missing here, giving way to a slightly more elementary-style humor, which follows, considering the director they found to replace Lord & Miller is Mike Mitchell, director of Trolls.
Not only is the second act overly repetitive and reliant on the same jokes, the newer characters added to the franchise aren’t exactly super memorable. None of them leave the lasting impact that a character like a Lego Batman did on the first movie, and there are basically zero interesting cameos throughout (save for one that actually does turn into a pretty hilarious real-world reference joke during the third act). General Mayhem seems to be the stand-in for the Batman character this time around, but apart from capturing the main heroes and transporting them to the Sistar system, there’s really not much else to her until the final couple of minutes and she doesn’t help craft other characters’ development like Batman did for Lucy. In addition to this, the villain this time around (whose name I’m not even going to attempt to type since I’m writing this at almost 2:00 in the morning) might be a more intimidating presence than Lord Business, but she’s not exactly as or more compelling.
One of the things that made Lord Business compelling was his tie-in to the real world that informed the surprise reveal at the end of the original Lego Movie, but while the added-on real-world element to this entry in the series presents a beautiful intent with its message, the actual Lego sections don’t handle telling that message quite as clearly as the first one did its central themes, which makes understanding the villain character in The Second Part more difficult than it honestly should be. Most of the supporting cast that are introduced in this movie aren’t very memorable, which doesn’t bode well for a franchise plan. Even though the Rex Dangervest storyline does go to some pretty ambitious places, he remains sort of a watered-down version of what he’s probably meant to be, and a lot of that is wrapped up in his very convoluted storyline.
Even the animation seems to have taken a bit of a hit; in the original movie, it was made fairly obvious that everything was made of legos, and that was a super cool and innovative way to create an animated movie, but when this sequel gets busy in the Sistar system or with characters not from the Lego world, it becomes difficult to get very invested in the animation, as it no longer carries that particularly unique look. If we’re going to continue to get Lego movies in this vein for a while, spending more time outside of the Lego world than in it is a bad idea. Legos are fun! Spending time in the Lego world should take up the majority of a movie in this franchise, not a minority.
There is a fair amount to like about this movie though; pretty much all the original characters carry the same weight and charm they have since 5 years ago, and the story and themes this movie presents in conjunction with the last one are actually very sweet. Some of the music is actually quite catchy as well, and The Lonely Island come back again with a stellar closing credits sequence. While the direction could have used quite a bit of work, the script by Lord & Miller does what it can to keep the franchise fresh and new, and if nothing else, most of the jokes are funny on first arrival.
It may sound like I’m knocking on this movie too much, but much like How to Train Your Dragon 3 (the superior film between these two, if you’re wondering), I did enjoy it – I just find it to be a bit disappointing as a sequel. That’s the tough part about being a film critic; if you’re reviewing a sequel, talking about the stuff that worked again isn’t nearly interesting as what doesn’t work as well this time around or what works better because that sticks out more, which can make it sound like that’s all you think of the film. With Lego Movie 2, that means telling you that while what worked last time mostly works again this time, there are a few spots that don’t work as well, and that’s okay, if a little bit of a bummer.
“I’m giving The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” a 7.6/10

“Are you needing help with anything?” Jonah asked, approaching the woman. Dina had suspected her of shoplifting and sent Jonah to try and talk to her. Of course he wasn’t sure why he kept geting sent into these situations when they knew that he was probably the worst one for the job. “I’m pretty good at giving good advice when it comes to our best products.”

The words cause Jonah to stop walking as he turns to face the person that he was helping. Okay so this store was a little different from the last Cloud 9 he was at but there was no way that it had to be that different right? Moving to New York was a choice Jonah found himself making after everything reminded him of Amy. He couldn’t stay there and he couldn’t go back to Chicago. So he did what he did before, and just went for the first opening that Cloud 9 had. Which brought him to Brooklyn. “I mean it’s different but we can find what you’re looking for. Promise.”

Jonah had moved to LA to be with Amy, but the pair had broken up soon after getting here. So now he was wandering around LA until he ended up in the middle of a midday mugging. Which was surprising but he should have seen it coming. Jonah wasn’t a violent person, so the first punch didn’t get blocked. He heard the shout of someone yelling ‘LAPD’ and people running. “Is this normal for LA?” He asked the approaching officer? “I mean I knew that like crime happened a lot here, but it’s only noon.”

“The guy touched over here.” Jonah wasn’t really sure if he was being helpful, but he didn’t really like standing around. Central City wasn’t’ really on his map, but Jonah was driving from Chicago and saw that the store was hiring and well now he was here. He had only been here for about six months and well a metahuman involved robbery wasn’t really what he was expecting. “I mean a lot of people touch this so I don’t really know how helpful it will be, but you’ll know more about that than I will.”

“If you’re looking for good laundry soap, might I suggest something a little better than the Cloud 9 brand.” Jonah replied as he walked up behind the woman. “Not that it’s terrible it’s just not great.”

“Excuse me.” Jonah approached the young woman, announcing his presence as he came up behind her. He didn’t want to scare her after all. “Are you needing help finding anything?”

“Excuse me sir?” Jonah was well aware of the fact that one of the members of the Avengers was in their store. And maybe he should be used to that, working in New York City and all. But still, he slowly walked towards the older as they stood in the electronics section. “Do you need any help, or explanation on any of our products?”
