EOTD: Teeter Board Folies Bergere

March 4th, 2020

So this morning was a rainy run just past Hurricane Creek Bridge at River Legacy Park. Nothing really special, just getting some miles in.  And my earworm for today was Teeter Board Folies Bergere by The Great American Mainstreet Band. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, you may recognize it as the theme song from the NPR Politics podcast.  I love that podcast and listen most everyday just to keep up on the latest in the national political sphere.

Teeter Board Folies Bergere is quite a catchy tune, and it brings a bit of nostalgia as well since for me it brings to mind the tunes of John Philip Sousa that we used to march to at the Air Force Academy during parades. 

Not really that surprising that tune popped into my head since I do hear it so often and had actually listened to the NPR Politics pod earlier this morning before the run. If you’re not familiar with this podcast it’s an awesome roundup of daily political news, and one of my favorites segments is “Can’t Let It Go” at the end of each episode. So the link below to the Teeter Board Folies Bergere is actually the NPR Politics podcast episode from April 5th, 2018 which has my favorite, side-splittingly funny Can’t Let It Go, featuring Mara Liasson talking about seagulls, pepperoni, banishment and forgiveness.
