Belated @c2e2 post! It was such a whirlwind of a show and you guys definitely kept me on my toes! It was so heartwarming to see so many familiar faces, as well as meet new ones! Thank you to all the kids that I met years ago who are now teens, and all the teens I met years ago who are now adults! Its been amazing being able to see you grow and become champions of cosplay and diversity! Thank you for your kind words about my baby, as well as to the amazing @reedpop staff and volunteers for always putting 110% in with running the insane ship of comic cons! You guys are world class masters of what you do! Thank you to all the champions and for #c2e2 for the honour of allowing me to serve as judge to your competition. It's been awesome being a part of it from the beginning and seeing it grow over the years! Thank you to all the amazing fans for your incredible patience while I was Prejudging the champions for the Global Championships of Cosplay on Saturday! The fact that most of you were understanding of the challenges with judging and schedule changes to accommodate for making sure we are judging fairly and giving each contestant their time to explain their process meant the world to me, and something that cannot be rushed. This is one, if not the most difficult, competitions to judge and I was so happy to see you guys patiently waiting and working with the adjusted schedules as Saturday progressed! Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you to all the old and new friends made and time we each were able to spend with one another. Day 4 of #wizardworldphilly and I am grateful to have been able to meet the amazing, talented and very sweet @canvascosplay and run into so many fans of Lilo and Stitch. Meeting @lyon_beckwith as Khal Drogo was lovely. Check out his work! Bummed that I completely missed the one Stitch cosplayer until he had changed out of costume into a Stitch teeshirt. This weekend at @c2e2 was a success! I was successfully able to trick @yayahan @ridd1e and @canvascosplay into thinking I wasn’t actually just two hobos in a Snuggie fighting over a lunchable! THAT is the true power of cosplay. Little did they realize that my handler @bodoni_italic is actually just three puppies stacked in s trench coat. I was honored and humbled to be graded and judged by these unbelievably skilled and talented cosplayers. Us competitors only get five minutes to ramble off about the shit we did. I didn’t talk about how I got my heavy ass cape to attach, which was part of my engineering achievement which I feel might have earned me some bonus points. But in the end, they liked the puffy paint on my hammer. 😂😂 that hammer I hated so much? Yeah. They liked it. Now I don’t think I’m allowed to sell it. Hahaha. I was very pleased that they left the table, touched my costume, crawled on the floor, and really examined us. Trust me, they were Up In There. There was no ten-foot-rule in these championships. You had to look good from ten feet, AND ten inches. Oh and on the inside. Seams AND armor flipped. They checked your straps. Your glue. Your wires. Your hand sewing. Your zipper. That is how is SHOULD be in a construction based craftsmanship competition. It’s nerve wracking to have them behind you, asking you why you did what you did. “It seems like a good idea at the time” isn’t s good enough answer, you gotta KNOW why you did what you did and how it was the best way to tackle that element of your cosplay. When you are mind UB with anxiety, that’s hard. I’m proud I formed words. I had such a blast tho. I would love to judge in my future. But I still have ambitions. I’m still a Crown hopeful. But that means I have to move up and beyond just foam/worbla and leather.
