I'm still in the realm of pastels and seeing how my colour pencil skills transfer - both similar and very different! I do love how opaque and vibrant the pastels are.

I was not enjoying the paper I chose for the colour pencil pigeon kiss so I decided to do a smaller version of it in pastel.

Really liking where it is going so far (except for this terrible photo, taken at night, because I always forget to take a photo during the day...)

ho aspettato con ansia che i miei venissero a trovarmi dall'Italia, per aiutarmi un po'con l'infanta imperatrice i modo da farmi lavorare.

i tre mesi dall'acquisto del biglietto al loro arrivo sono stati INFINITI.

i due mesi e mezzo qui sono VOLATI.

una serie infinita di sfortunati eventi(oggi mi spreco in citazioni) si è messa in moto a partire dal loro viaggio che è stato cancellato dire volte e che li ha più visto bloccato per due notti in transito.

dopo il loro effettivo arrivo casa mia è diventato un Lazzaretto. per fortuna la più colpita da vari morbi sono stata io, seguita a ruota dall'infanta la quale ha concluso col botto passando l'ultima settimana all'ospedale.

inutile dire che io non solo non sono uscita con gli amici, chiesa di cui avevo veramente bisogno, ma non sono nemmeno riuscita a finire il lavoro arretrato!

oggi ripartono, io ho lo slpeen cosmico, il mio compagno è al settimo cielo, non credo l'infanta abbia capito che se ne vanno.

quando sono emigrata dall'altra parte del mondo, sapevo mi sarebbe mancata la mia famiglia, ma non avrei mai pensato sarebbe stata così dura senza di loro una volta diventata madre.

adesso i miei genitori sono anziani ed iniziano adv avere loro bisogno di me e io sono qui, così lontana. una figlia inutile.

Been stuck on the latest painting for a couple weeks and it's been a struggle to fight my way through the ugly stage on it, so today I just decided to shut off and break out the charcoal and carbothello and just do a figure study. Pretty happy with it overall, I think I need to figure out how to work charcoal on smaller paper though 18x24 is pretty unwieldy, maybe I'll try one in graphite and see if that helps with keeping it small and still have details.

The Eagle Owl is done! I thought about adding a background but I didn’t want to ruin it so just left it as is. PanPastel and pastel pencils on Anthracite Pastelmat. Third animal prepped for my online class with UC Berkeley @berkeley_olli Photo reference from Pixabay. I loved painting this portrait! I used a mix of some detailed sections in pastel pencils along with looser strokes of the PanPastel to add interest and variety. Such a round birb! I have overworked the paper, worked the wrong way round (always go dark to light with pastels....) and added far too many layers already, and I am loving it :) .

Sopravvivere ad un narcisista sta diventando sempre più difficile ed estenuante, specialmente in questo periodo di burnout (.. o forse dovrei dire “era” visto da quanto va avanti).

A volte mi chiedo se sono io ad essere troppo diretta e incapace di tacere davanti a affermazioni sbagliate o se sono loro ad essere incapaci di avere torto davanti ad un altro essere umano.

Tutto questo ha decisamente modificato i muri piano per il disegno da mandare al concorso. Ho ripiegato su qualcosa che avevo già fatto, la scadenza era troppo vicina ed io troppo esausta per cominciare da zero.

Ma per il prossimo ho già in mente cosa fare… sperando di riuscirci 😅
