I mean about the last reblog:
Australia does not have rabies
we DO have Australian Bat Lyssavirus which is fatal if you get it but has only ever had 3 confirmed transmissions to humans.
Prevalence in concerning bats like the one described is around 5-10%.
You’ll get the fun of a rabies shot if you get a bat scratch
However ABL will not immediately kill you and you can get prophylactic treatment (and we’re unsure how well it will work given all three cases we know of had severely delayed treatment)
While the majority of the ‘this snake bite WILL kill you in 30 min or less if you don’t get treatment fast enough’ list are Australian.
I would rather not approach either and instead would open a window and call the snake guy
The snake guy will sort things out
Also WHY is a flying fox inside my house
It should be down at the Bat camp
If it’s not a flying fox it’s even less risky as most other bat species here aren’t known to carry ABL
Seriously I am not clicking ‘yes I would try to get an Eastern Brown Snake out of my house’ that’s a great way to need a Careflight to the hospital less than two suburbs away

i fucking hate hospitals. been here for 20 hours, yet to be admitted as they told me i would be. one doctor told me it was a mystery virus, then a uti, then kidney failure (?!), and that the past 20 hours of heart rate above 130 was “whatever.” they wont tell me anything. i havent seena nurse in two hours when they dropped off cold food with my deadname written on it. I keep hearing people outside saying theyre out of beds but they wont discharge or admit me. They swore it was anxiety and got annoyed when the vallium didnt work. they didnt believe me when i said i wasnt a good stick and had to call a fucking careflight emt again. For some reason i have TWO ivs and nobody cared to explain why.
at this point if the constant resting heart rate of 130+ is “whatever” then let me go home!! i still dont feel good but id rather fucking feel miserable at home than in this stupid hospital. im tired im hungry the diazipam is wearing off again. i want answers. i want communication. I want to go home.

Okay. So this is a serious post, and while I'm not going into all of the nitty gritty details, there will still be some triggering moments, so I'll have a readmore and the warnings first. But this is just, one, for me to get it out of my system, and 2, because I keep talking about how a hard time is coming, and I figured if anyone was Interested, I'd explain. It is also the reason the past week and the next week or so, I will be kind of out of my normal funk possibly. If you have questions about it, it is fine to ask.
But yes. So please keep in mind I may be a bit out of sorts, but I am always still happy to talk, replies may just take a tad bit longer while I mentally amp myself up. I'm going to be home until Thursday, so please send all the distractions you'd like, ask me ANY questions you'd like about anything. Always happy to get Yunho and Minghao content(or seventeen and ateez as a whole.) Ask me how stiltzkin and binky are doing! Whatever. But please be forgiving if it takes me a minute. And let me know if I missed any warnings. I know this is a bit of a tough read for some. I don't want to trigger anyone. I just wanted to get my story out.
Warnings
Death, specifically infant death. Dog bite. Just over all depression. A photo of a gravestone? Shitty hospitals, surgery
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So.... On November 13, 2001, my baby brother, Alex was born. He had a lot of complications with his birth mainly stemming around underdeveloped lungs and oxygen levels. But he came home on the 15th. As a 7 years old little girl, who had never had a younger sibling, I was ecstatic.
The next day, shortly after I had been loaded onto the school bus, there had been an accident. I remember before it was even lunch time I'd been picked up and brought to the hospital. By the time I got there, on Nov. 16 2001, Alex had sadly passed away. He was bit by the family dog. My mom had walked through the large open kitchen door(it was a wall that'd been knocked down, no actual door) to grab her tea from the microwave, and had the baby in his bassinet. In that short of a time, he'd fussed, the dog being very nanny-like, went to pick him up(she had never done this with any of us before, but that is definitely what it was) and punctured his chest.
Now that was obviously the big problem. However, between careflight fighting my mother on how she could get to the hospital, and the surgeons putting tubes and instruments in backwards during surgery on a very small newborn, he ended up passing away during the surgery.
So the entire month of November is just... It's really hard for me. For my family. It's been 21 years and I am totally open to talking about my situation. It's not something I hide. But it does still hurt. I have to take the week off work because being around certain breeds of dogs(they took our jack russle mix who bit the baby, our husky, and our shepherd from us. Put all three down, the two innocent dogs were out down more than 4 years later by the GCAC. So huskies and dogs that looked like my shepherd mix being common at my kennel, I have to avoid it) they send me spiraling when I see them.

Mackay’s Newest Telehealth Dietitian
Tumblr media
How good is telehealth? Back when I was a kid if you had an appointment for a health professional you definitely weren’t sitting on your couch with a shirt on top and potentially nothing down below. But that’s life now, isn’t it? So convinient.
Recently, I photographed professional headshots for Kate from Nutrition for a Healthy Life – a Mackay-based accredited practicing dietitian with a business model centred on telehealth. That’s bloody handy because if there’s a shortage of anything it’s health professionals.
Vitrtual appointments make health care providers so accessible, which I think is great. It reminds me of those Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) ads (or CareFlight, I can’t remember) from ages ago where the person who lived out at a town I’ve never heard of 1200km from civilisation goes for a long drive that’s replaced by a short flight and we all marvelled on how awesome that was.
The point is, if you live in the middle of nowhere or you have kids running around at home and you can’t be bothered wrangling them – telehealth really is the solution for you.
I’m not getting paid to say this but at this point I’m thinking I should.
So anyway, back to dietetics – if you’re looking for advice on losing wait, chronic disease management or you’re running in Goondiwindi’s Hell of The West (I’m thinking of you Steve), then a Dietitian is who you need.
I sympathise with people because on the internet you’re just drowning in  nutrition “experts” except it’s a sea of people who have no idea, no qualifications but somehow they have an audience from their weird and whacky not-evidence-based views.
Working with the good ones is something I really enjoy doing. It’s really important their branding looks professional and credible and photography really helps with that. Read More!

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the crash "tragic", telling reporters: "Obviously this is a regrettable incident. I am unable to give further information. "The Australian Defence Force are cooperating with our friends in the United States defence force to make sure that we provide every assistance possible." The incident happened during the Exercise Predator's Run 2023 - a military exercise featuring troops from Australia, the US, Malaysia and the Philippines. It comes a month after four Australian soldiers were killed during bilateral exercises when their helicopter crashed into the ocean off the coast of Queensland. October 22nd my dad died.
November 4th, we had his memorial service.
November 9th, I take my 10-month-old son to the same emergency room where my dad died 2.5 weeks earlier.
Walked past the room my father died in as we put my son on the Careflight Helicopter.
Laying in the children’s hospital sofa bed beside my 10-month-old after driving two+ hours to get to him.
The past few weeks have been fucking brutal and I really just need some time.

I told the nurses i was a difficult stick. I told them i knew everyone said that, but it was true. I told them they’d need a careflight nurse- i know they have one on deck at this hospital for people like me. They just laughed it off. It wouldnt be that hard.
Stuck me 9 times. They went in my fucking finger at one point? The ultrasound didn’t even work. I was too tired to open my eyes but im still covered in blood. my mom said it was a bloodbath. they werent gentle and dug so much. god i hate hospitals. ive decided im never going back to one. if i die i die that shit sucked.
