As promised: the Cartoon Network UK Schedule for May 2013 (possibly the week starting from the 14th).

Like I said before, this schedule is not very good. It's nostalgic for sure, but not great in retrospect. Only a few shows during the day, and most of them consist of just Regular Show, Adventure Time, Gumball and Johnny Test, sometimes in THAT specific order. It's very lazy and boring, despite the fact that at least three of them are really good shows. It's not like CN was lacking in content at that point as the US feed was way ahead of the UK with a variety of different shows in different slots, though to be fair, half of those were aired on either Boomerang or CN Too, leaving the main channel a lot less to work with.

In terms of "new" content that week, or in this case, THAT YEAR, Gormiti: Forces of Nature is one I did not expect to see. I literally cannot recall a single memory of that show, despite being sliced inbetween Ben 10 Omniverse and Regular Show. Probably because it was only on for about a few weeks and disappeared soon after. This was however, a week or two AFTER Star Wars: The Clone Wars aired it's season premiere, so that's cool. In terms of other content, you got some early morning Chowder reruns, plus an hour of Ultimate Alien at 12pm. I was usually in school by then so it makes sense why I never saw it, despite having access to a DVR and knowing how to use one. You've also got some Dreamworks Dragons: Riders of Berk reruns exclusive to weekends, which I definitely remember seeing at the time. Notice how I managed to talk about every show on the daytime schedule in just ONE paragraph.

And if you thought THAT was bad, wait til you see the night-time schedule. Sure, you got some rather odd but cool lineup of classic cartoons from 9 to 11pm, and then an hour of Chop Socky Chooks, followed by two hours of Hero 108, also followed by the exact show preceeding it for another hour, AND THEN ANOTHER TWO HOURS OF HERO 108 AGAIN, followed by MORE Chop Socky Chooks at 5am. You see the problem? Over HALF of the graveyard slots are filled with just two shows for over 7 hours. And in case you're wondering what happened to Robotboy and all the other shows from 2010-2011ish, they were either moved to CN Too & Boomerang or just completely gone from all three (this is likely what happened with Fantastic Four). Though to be fair, it's not nearly as bad as you think because let's be real here: who the hell is gonna watch Cartoon Network at 3am? (totally not me lol)

Phew! Got tired from writing all of this shit. Maybe I'll post an ideal version of this schedule at some point by fixing some of its issues and just making something that could've been. Now if only I was this dedicated to actual important things.

Here's the first half of 2022 for Cartoon Network. Cartoonito shrinks further and further and adds Cocomelon to the frightened wails of people too old for Cartoonito. WarnerMedia dies out and in comes Warner Bros. Discovery, a company that will make no controversial moves whatsoever in the second half of the year. Chowder aired for an hour that one day. Wasn't that weird? Steven Universe got a little Pride Month celebration, how cute.

Here’s the Cartoon Network schedule for Monday, January 24 to Sunday, January 30, 2011.

First thing, 9PM was gone. This was when people thought that Adult Swim didn’t really need 9PM, as they were only using it to air episodes of King of the Hill. I remember when I first saw KOTH (around this time, or a little bit before or after), I thought it was weird, given the theme was instrumental and the intro just had stone-faced Hank Hill drinking in front of that fence with Bill, Dale and Boomhauer. Grew to like the show, though.

Anyways, SCHEDULE CHANGES! The mid-morning lineup (after 9am and before 12pm) has a mix of the Canadian toons (Johnny Test, Total Drama Island) and retro CN classics (Dexter’s Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls [the original 1998 series]). Definitely a great mix for any Teletoon/CN fan.

And also, in the early-evening, at 6pm, a Great combo came to exist. 6teen and Total Drama World Tour. I’m pretty sure a lot of people know why it’s a great mix (Fresh TV produced both shows, a lot of the voices worked on both shows, both feel like the early-mid 2000s, etc.). Too bad CN replaced the 6pm half-hour slot with more KND the next month, this week was also one of the last times 6teen aired on United States cable television. (it still airs on Teletoon [now Cartoon Network Canada]).

Also, this was around the time when Pokemon Black and White was about to come out in the states, so the Diamond and Pearl anime was about to end, this week was when the second-to-last episode of the DP anime aired. The next episode was the one where Piplup was crying that he is leaving his best friend, Pikachu (he cried as well). No, really, here’s the clip.

Speaking of sad news, Robotomy was ending this week. That sucks, given the show was really great, I could have seen that show as CN’s third wheel, if MAD never was really successful and CN trusted Thrasher and Blastus for a second season. Good thing they got Gumball shortly therafter.

Friday Action block was just new Young Justice (a show that lasted through a cancellation and ended up on streaming) and Star Wars: the Clone Wars (another show that lasted through a cancellation and ended up on streaming). the Ben 10: Alien Force hour-long episodes were airing as time-filler between the two shows. Ultimate Alien and Generator Rex would return the next week.

Flicks movie was a rerun of Underdog. Aired Saturday at 7pm and again 23 hours later.

Anyways, the schedules after this one were more notable, only because Johnny Test was shrunk from its 52 reruns on the channel. Remember back when the most aired show was only on for 12% of the channel’s runtime? Nowadays, CN’s most aired show is about 31% of the airtime. Still better than Nick’s airtime of SpongeBob and Paw Patrol nowadays.

I'm still taking a break from Tumblr, but I just wanted to post these Toonami ReBoot intros, bumpers and promos that I found. I have them all queued up. Toonami actually used to show western animation believe it or not.

This schedule is from March 2004, sourced from the Sky TV Guide via the Wayback Machine. I was only able to view the Thursday schedule as opposed to the entire week, which is why it’s been formatted differently. As you can easily tell, there was a serious lack of variety during this specific day. I don’t know if it was because of the Easter Holidays or just Thursdays specifically but assuming it to be the overall 5-day weekly schedule, excluding weekends, it doesn’t look very good.

Firstly, not enough variety. The schedule is too repetitive and reeks of 2013 Cartoon Network UK. The same set of shows repeated multiple times in a noticeable pattern throughout the day, even sneaking past 9pm, and that side of the schedule isn’t much better, as once again, Gadget Boy takes up 3 hours for no reason along with several shows that were already broadcast plenty throughout the day. Aside from those, you have some odd choices like Fat Dog Mendoza and Mike Lu & Ogg, both of which were likely removed the following year.

Strange to not see a single Billy & Mandy rerun, though assuming that Grim & Evil had already finished its run in the UK by then, with Billy & Mandy itself either airing on weekends or still awaiting its UK premiere knowing how long some of their shows take to get here. Also very weird to see that many airings for Robot Jones on a single day, though knowing CN’s general treatment of such shows, it’s safe to assume they were just burning the whole series off as fast as they could.

CN UK must have really LOVED Dexter’s Lab in the early 2000s. The show’s airtime was easily exceeding Ed Edd & Eddy’s, which I always thought to be the more popular cartoon. Maybe it was a UK thing? It’s also funny how much KND I’m seeing, as that got pushed to the side in its later years (2007-2009) in favour of other shows, including Ed Edd & Eddy.

Here's the rest of 2022 for Cartoon Network. Right before the network's 30th anniversary celebrations came the dreaded content purge, removing dozens of cartoons from HBO Max to never be seen again on the service, on Cartoon Network's site, or Cartoon Network's schedule. Led to a fast burn-off of Victor and Valentino, to ensure its final episodes could air. At least the 30th anniversary celebration was well done, and seemed to encourage CN to continue rerunning some older shows here and there as the network gained the 8pm hour for the fall (and rebranded!). Though maybe the ratings leaned a bit too hard into the nostalgic adults territory...

It's ALL Coming Back To Us

An acquaintance shared a snippet of a schedule from Boomerang, and I was amazed at what I saw.

Am I seeing things? Reruns of old CN/Hanna Barbera shows? No original programs that belong on Cartoon Network? An ACTUAL episode of Top Cat?!

I'm honestly surprised. Boomerang is getting their groove back! They must have realized that people watch it only for the old shows and not for some more recent programs that'll get canceled after another season.

This one is a bit old. I first saw it while I was getting ready to leave the library after working on some artwork. But from the new schedules I saw, they also have reruns of The Powerpuff Girls (the old one. Not that MONSTROSITY of a reboot.), the original Ben 10, and even a few Popeye marathons in addition to the obligatory Tom and Jerry/Looney Tunes ones.

Their still missing a few shows. (Some more Hanna Barbera cartoons and shows like Swat Kats would be nice additions. Programs like Clarence, Uncle Grandpa, and Regular Show would also make for great additions to the Boomerang line-up since CN doesn't air those shows anymore.) But aside from that, Boomerang is watchable again!

I slept late last night (2am est???) and had to wake up early before 6 so that I'd boot up the B*ll F*be app and witness Teletoon transitioning into the new Cartoon Network Canada.

Like I said previously, if this happened in the mid-2010s I would been elating in joy. But nowadays I view this as a pointless move by Corus to rename the channel.

I even question why did I had to put myself through this.
