ORANGE / CLUBS: Hyuna / Hyeon-a Jeong, she/they/it

Hyuna attends Kamiyama High in class 1-C.  She is very accident prone, wearing bandages even over spots that aren't hurt.  She was incredibly lonely over the course of middle school, but acted as if she was fine with it.  People don't tend to like her, even though she's nothing but positive.  After a particularly late day at school, she spots someone singing alone in a restaurant and takes interest...

RED / HEARTS: Ai Akemi, she/her

Ai attends Miyamasuzaka High in class 2-B.  She is in the archery club with Mafuyu Asahina and Shizuku Hinomori.  Ai can come off as haughty quite often.  She is a little bit of an overachiever in school, but doesn't overwork herself.  She secretly wants to put herself more forward, but doesn't, because she's deathly afraid of people thinking she's a bad person for her "haughty" nature.  One day, coming home from archery club, she spots someone performing in a restaurant and it piques her interest...

YELLOW / ACE CARD: CASINO Hatsune Miku, she/her

Miku in this SEKAI is a laidback, all loving VOCALOID who helps the members find their true feelings.  She loves to play card games for no real monetary gain, moreso for the fun of it.  She finds herself winning games that have ace as the highest card often, and her turn is usually first when drawn from the deck!

GREEN / SPADES: Kaede Fujita, she/any, leader

Kaede attends Kamiyama High in class 2-C.  She is the leader of the unit.  Kaede has always loved playing music for others to listen to, but her style doesn't mesh well with her peers.  She's deeply afraid of expressing her true self, so she stays quiet most of the time.  She performs gigs at restaurants when she can, but they usually desert and she has a hard time finding them most of the time.  One particularly good gig brings some people in, though...

BLUE / DIAMONDS: Taeko Hirasawa, she/they

Taeko attends Kamiyama High in class 2-B.  She is the class representative of year 2.  She comes off as very cold and judgmental, so nobody wants to hang out with her.  She is very lonely, and wishes she had a way to express herself.  Since she has no real way, she buries herself in schoolwork to get into a good university.  One day, after cram school, she walks past a restaurant and sees a lone live performer.  This takes her interest...

RED / KING CARD: CASINO MEIKO (VOCALOID), she/her

MEIKO in this SEKAI is very sweet and caring.  She likes to play instruments such as piano or trumpet lying around in her free time.  She gives very mature and thought-out advice and offers a shoulder to cry on.  MEIKO also loves to make drinks at the bar (much like Street MEIKO, but it isn't her job).  Feel free to ask for the secret menu... I'm sure she'd love to give you something special!

PINK-RED / QUEEN CARD: CASINO Kasane Teto* (UTAU/SynthV), she/he

Teto in this SEKAI is a little mischievous.  She loves to rig games for herself and others, and has a friendly rivalry with Miku.  Despite his troublemaking, Teto is a great advice giver, and likes to talk to others.  Don't be shy about giving him a little piece of bread for a fun joke!

*In this SEKAI, UTAU and SynthV are being included (After all, in game, they are VIRTUAL SINGERS, not VOCALOIDS). Teto is not a VOCALOID, unfortunately.  Some other potential UTAU for this SEKAI include Darling, Momo, and Utane.

MUSICALS AND VOCALOID SONGS AS BSD!!

So! As a theater kid in my local highschool, I've thought of this for a good while now along with being a daily Project Sekai player.

The musical I see Bsd fit the most would be honestly Heathers. But if we are just being funny, all three Heathers are Ranpo, Mushitaro and Poe, Veronica is Atsushi, JD is Akutagawa, Martha is Kyoka. Kurt and Ram, I'm not entirely sure yet but I'll think about it soon.

Now! For Vocaloid. Love me, Love me, Love me would really fit Akutagawa due to wanting Dazai's approval and that song literally talk about that so for all of you who thought it was a yandere song, you are sadly and sorely mistaken. Young Girl A or Universal Cat Drowning would also fit Akutagawa but I chose Atsushi for this! He would also fit QUEEN and I feel like for the two of them would Identity.

Now for Dazai and Chuuya. Dazai would probably be a Kanaria song, like KING, Envy Baby, EYE or maybe Wowoka like Rolling Girl but I would chose Envy Baby for him meanwhile Chuuya would be KING and their duet song would be the KING x Envy Baby mix that Kanaria did.

Now for Fukumori! This one was a toughy since for Mori, I had I'm Sorry I'm Sorry or You Are A Useless Child but I ended up going with Novocaine from Ghost and Pals. I was tempted to give the song connected to Novocaine, Hyperdontia to Fukuzawa but it didn't seem to fit and as much as I wanted to put Nyan cat [yes it's a vocaloid song] for him, I went with Unknown Mother Goose and the song for the two of them would be Therefore You and Me.

Fyolai song would honestly be Villain, Fyodor's would be Shadow Shadow and Nikolai's would be EYE. [honorable mention to Sigma who would have Casino or Blackjack.]

And Ranpoe. I'm sorry but Ranpo would be Appetite of a People Pleaser, I don't care, this fits him. Poe would Goodbye Declaration surprisingly! And the song for the two of them would be either Love Ka or World is Mine.

GWAAAAAAAAAAA THINKING ABOUT JACKPOT SAD GIRL AGAIN AFTER TWO YEARS

The casino theme with Vegas being the first thought to come when thinking of casinos. Vegas is in a dessert. The bridge that was cut out from the project sekai game version being a direct response to Hachi’s Sand Planet. VEGAS IS IN A DESERT.

While the song was commissioned for project sekai character, taking the lyrics into context with the nod to Hachi, it opens a new meaning.

(Note that I am using translations from the vocaloid lyrics fandom wiki. And also Vocaloid as in vocal synth community as a whole.)

Basically my interpretation of the lyrics is wanting to achieve the greatness of the past artists but things are becoming repetitive, as Vocaloid was considered a dying media at that time. But in reality, it's only a new age of Vocaloid; with new artists, a new internet culture, a new generation. Even Sand Planet has themes of just trudging along through the dessert even if some people have left (the community). I'm pretty sure Hachi had an interview talking about wanting to see new voice synth artists doing their own thing for the future of Vocaloid.

And what happens when you go through a certain large dessert long enough? You reach Las Vegas: the entertainment capital in the middle of a dessert. Once you've gone far enough you'll see a great, more vibrant new form of the vocaloid community after the old golden age.

Edit: Something about Vegas being built upon a dessert = new vocaloid being built upon the old ruins.

Sure it's different, you're seeing more OCs rather than the synthesizers themselves, but that's just how things evolved. Artists are now more recognized as themselves rather than the voicebanks they use. Or even just becoming non-synth artists as time passes, which is a recurring pattern to old artists as well. Project Sekai has greatly given Vocaloid more popularity and exposure now, especially in Gen Z (for better and for worse but that's a different topic and a whole personal can of worms).

Edit: Something something about new beginnings with the fact that Jackpot Sad Girl appears in the second ever event in project sekai

But this could also just be a bunch of prose without much understanding, as my past attempts at analysis have been told to be. Whatever the hell, sometimes this song just pops into my head, and I think about it. Let me know if you guys have any different ideas or contributions.

Those in the know about mobile games may already be aware that the Japanese version of mobile title Project SEKAI did a crossover with Evillious last year, and the same crossover is happening this year.  The top picture is a listing of December events from the English version of Project Sekai’s Twitter post, while the below image is one that I stitched together from the announcement on my own account.  Details are under the cut.

As is seen by the pictures above, the Evillious series is being referred to as both “Aku no Taizai” (Which translates to “Deadly Sins of Evil”) as well as “Memoirs of Wrongdoings”.  While I certainly have opinions on this choice of translation, in the spirit of keeping this post as brief as possible, I will forego that topic.

As of writing, this post will begin on December 14, 2022 at 3:00 PST and run until December 28, 2022 at 3:00 PST, for a total of two weeks.  During this time, players who log in during the event will obtain a two-star card of Miku dressed as Margarita Blankenheim, called “The Slothful, Sleepless Widow” for this event.  In addition, a special item to recharge energy (Brioche) will be temporarily available.

I don’t believe there’s any information on any particular translation as of right now, but based on the Japanese event, new cards available that are tied to this event will feature Banica Conchita, Riliane Lucifen d’Autriche, Allen Avadonia, Kayo Sudou, and Gallerian Marlon.  Songs that will become available are The Daughter of Evil, The Servant of Evil, and Waltz of the Deceased.

I will post updates about this event in reasonable increments, but please be aware that I may not get every card.  Project Sekai is a “gacha game”, which relies on luck to get cards unless an exorbitant amount of money is spent to guarantee that a specific card is gotten, and, looking at the worst-case scenario with maximum bad luck, it would cost over $3,000 USD to get all five new cards.

If you are going to play this event, keep in mind that spending money on new gacha pulls requires the same mindset of going into a casino -- go in with a budget, assuming that all of it will be gone with nothing to show for it.  Pay to play responsibly, stick to a budget, and have fun during the event!
