I'm still stuck on the discussion of Castiel's handwriting from before, so now I'm going to throw in my two cents' worth.
Enochian is actually really hard to write. Or at least it is for me because I am artistically challenged. Especially if I'm using a ballpoint pen or a pencil instead of a brush pen or a fountain pen. The lines are all of different thicknesses and there are different serifs and flourishes that make each letter unique.
There's also, as I have recently discovered, a "script" version that is much easier to draw/write on the fly with a simple pen. The lines are relatively the same thickness and most of them are similar shapes to the original letters, but they can be written much more quickly and by someone with less skill.
My first thought was that Cas would surely use the "cursive" version like I do. It's faster, easier, and more efficient.
But then... I think Castiel is an artist at heart. I think he likes the poetry of the lines and the weight of the brush strokes. I think he'd enjoy writing "real" Enochian more than the quick-and-dirty version. Because Cas is smart, pays attention to details, and sees the beauty in small things. 💙

Garrison as physical space
According to Wikipedia, "A garrison is any body of troops stationed in a particular location, originally to guard it. The term now often applies to certain facilities that constitute a military base or fortified military headquarters."
I've been wondering about what Castiel (and Anna and Balthazar Uriel etc)'s garrison on earth was like as actual physical facility, but I came up empty. In S9 we saw Bartholomew's compound that Cas took over but it was more like a corporate office (the show very much portrayed both angels and demons as suit-wearing corporate drones, using corporations as stand-in for evil and creepy power but I digress). It was unsatisfying and didn't count for me.
Got a few thoughts recently below, still very limited, and as usual I ramble on. File under "nobody needs to read".
Speculations about what Castiel's garrison may look like:
In the show the angels frequently used abandoned human structures for their purpose (early seasons anyway), so I think for their garrisons similarly they would take over large abandoned structures around the world (cathedral? castle? skyscraper? industrial warehouse? Transportation hub? Nuclear plant? Shopping mall? likely "all of the above").
The exteriors are heavily warded, so that humans can't see them (or forget it right after seeing it); and of course demons can't even approach one. The interior of any building gets instantly renovated to garrison specs by their grace.
I like these buildings for the purpose (Kimbell and the modern art museum in forth worth Tx).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the garrison is like, a hidden dimension of etheric plane on earth. So the angels would be able to exit their vessels and stay there as their true forms in between deployments. It's not a logical hc but I just feel sad that they have to stay on earth crammed into a tiny cage all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the photos above, the stairs next to the windows could be their version of water cooler gathering place for gossip (and jokes by Uriel). Or another place Cas would watch the earthly world, the water and the grass and the birds and the humans on the other side of the windows. And all that could be happening right in the pictures, because they were all just wavelengths of light while in the garrison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above left could be the armory; above right could be the infirmary.
Did the angels have private spaces (like bedrooms, though they wouldn't need to sleep) within the garrison? Seems unlikely, but if not that would be so sad? (I don't know what a "room" would be like for an angel anyway...giant crystal prism? haven't thought through the physics)
And then after the angels are no longer using it (killed off by Uriel or otherwise recalled to heaven), the space is abandoned again, but the warding remains so it stayed cloaked to the humans, however it's no longer actively maintained, so it starts to deteriorate, and nature reclaims it, perhaps even stimulated by the residual angelic energy, and trees and brambles start to grow all over the interior.
(Basically there was this whole trend of "abandoned and overgrown places" on the internet and I just thought they would be perfect as locations of former angel garrisons.)
So when Castiel came back years later to an empty garrison

Crowley being a Cas fan

Crowley saving Cas' life
Hey, I was growing fond of the choir boy, too
Tumblr media
Crowley had recently gone through a very traumatic experience with Lucifer and he decided to use the lance to save Cas rather than use it on Lucifer. The boys wouldn't have known any better
Buddy boy, you've got what they call sex appeal
Oh, you're a pip you are
Pip means excellent or attractive person. As this is in the context of Cas hiding the angel tablet so well that none of the angels figured it out Crowley means Cas is excellent here
Crowley saw Cas for the leader and warrior he is
Angels need leaders, so be one. Gather your army and kick the candy out of each and every angel that shows up for Raphael
God loves you
Kitten
Bonus: He stands by Cas' side in 12x07 to fight Lucifer even though he knows he might not survive

Sum of tattooed Cas HCs from a discussion between me and @vaicomcas
Most of the reason I love tattooed Cas are angsty to I will skip them and state the only one which isn’t, Cas covered in tattooed will look very hot.
Cas got a single bee, a honey bee in flight,(intricate and astonishingly lifelike) tattooed when he was human.
One the popular HCs is that Castiel has wings tattooed and my twist that is each feather is different, representing his angel siblings.(I like the HC that angels all have different, specific feathers)
Cas has sigils and protective seals and his favourite artwork from pretty much every culture on Earth, extinct or otherwise, an abstract map of Heaven, etc.
These tattoos are made with melanocytes (the pigment cells that give dinosaurs and bird feathers black color) (@vaicomcas idea).
Also Castiel can make his tattoos invisible if/when he wants

Castiel was glorious in 9x21 King of the Damned, gif version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He was commanding and he was feared by his enemy.
Tumblr media
He was loving and warm to his friends even when they treated him with less than enthusiasm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He defeated two assassins.
Tumblr media
He forcefully argued for Gadreel to change his loyalty, not by manipulation, but through honest appeal to Gadreel's conscience.

So I have started to think of Castiel as a massive boat. Like as he moves around on earth, even a leisurely stroll, his true form displaces certain wavelengths, creating a mile-wide wake behind him. Humans can't perceive it but maybe certain animals can. Maybe bees bob up and down in the gigantic waves that trail him and shake their little fists in annoyance.

Castiel healing others at his own expense
One and Two: while he was on stolen grace, and healing was accelerating his dying. He healed friend and enemy anyway.
Third and fourth: after having drained his grace hopelessly trying to revive Jack, he barely had anything left. "My power is failing" and yet he still spends it on people who wouldn't even pay attention to it.

Castiel was supposed to be a soldier of Heaven and that’s it.
But Castiel had carved himself an image of being much more even when he served Heaven. Castiel was a trustworthy soldier, a formidable warrior, A successful commander, and A brilliant strategist
Even in his angelic breathen he was known to be kind and thoughtful and someone who was fond of humanity.
Of course, Castiel is also the angel who fell, fell because he loved his fathers creation, fell to help Winchesters save the world. The Angel who always fought for what he believed in, who stepped up to lead angels when no one did, who went against the God himself for his beliefs and protect his loved ones.
He is the angels who Jack choose to be his father. He is parental figure to Claire. He is the angel who befriended demons.
Yes, Cas is also the angel who choose to watch over the Winchesters, Who somewhere along the way he fell in love with dean winchetster  and while that was important to Cas, that’s not all there was.

gods of the world
A new Castiel hc/fic idea
cw: religion
Note: I use "Chuck" to denote the God of the SPN universe; I somewhat feel like Chuck wasn't possessed by that God until later, but it's too tedious to write "God of the SPN universe" every time when I have to differentiate this god from the other gods.
---------------------
As shown in "Hammer of the Gods", "Chuck" isn't the only God in the universe, there are many gods from all other religions of the world. That part was true.
The story told that those other gods of the world religions were evil, human-eating, petty, and ultimately weak. They were so useless, the whole lot of them got wiped out by a single fallen archangel of Chuck's, and some of them could even be easily killed by one of Chuck's human hunters. True to form, Dean Winchester even saw fit to call them "primitive screwheads".
Chuck wrote the story, and it's a lie. The gods in that story were just effigies in Chuck's bad writing that represented his contempt and hatred for those other gods, to insist that he was the only God that mattered.
The gods were still there, presiding over parts of reality in the same universe as Chuck. However, it is true that they held less influence compared to Chuck, since over time, through aggression and treachery, Chuck had become the most powerful and dominant one of all gods.
Within Chuck's domain of reality, every being believed (were made to believe) Chuck's story that he was the one supreme God. The angels were assigned to help maintain this belief, sent to punish the heretics, the non-believers and the worshippers of the so-called false gods. Naomi was assigned to maintain the belief and devotion of the angels.
But Castiel loved humanity (and before humanity the Neanderthals) not because of who they worshipped, but because of their own characteristics and their own accomplishments, because of their poetry and their art and their dreams and their love and their hope and their PB&J and their coffee. So over the history of humanity, he had befriended and helped many non-believers of Chuck just the same as he would befriend and help the pious or "Chuck-fearing" ones.
He repeatedly rebelled to protect the heretics and blasphemers and non-believers when he thought they were being punished unjustly. I imagine him trying to protect Hypatia of Alexandria as an example, knowing that she was a good person who harmed no one. He alone stood against the mob who had come to murder her, who were in reality possessed by his brothers and sisters sent by Chuck.
He was tortured and mind-wiped over and over for it (among other reasons). He forgot all of it.
But the other gods were watching, and they didn't forget. In return for his love of their sons and daughters, they went out of their way to watch out for him. They didn't have the wherewithal for all-out war with Chuck-yet, but they took on an act of resistance in helping Castiel.
When he was killed by Raphael, then by Lucifer, then by Leviathans and resurrected? It was not Chuck who resurrected him. It was the other gods.

Balthazar was strong enough to either
*telekinetically move an iceberg weighing 75 million tonnes* so the ship wouldn't hit it
Or telekinetically change the direction of a 52,310 tons ship to stop it crashing into the iceberg
As a seraph Cas was stronger

SAM
Aziel, Castiel, Lamisniel, Rabam.
Ehrley, et balam, ego vos conuro, per deum verum, per deum vivum (pause) cuivos cuiaves eos supermontes et per eum, qui adam, et avum formovit. Et per eum,
3x06 Red Sky at Morning
The English translation begins with "and I beseech you" which means to ask someone urgently and fervently to do something. So Sam was fervently asking Castiel, Aziel, Lamisniel, and Rabam to send the sailor ghost' brother's ghost to them
That implicates that Cas and those other three have or had the most power of all the angels when it comes to souls. I'm assuming the souls of the damned in this case, such as bringing back Bobby Singer who was damned by Crowley owning his soul and the ghost brother in 3x06 who may have been damned by killing his brother, depending on why he killed his brother
I wouldn't be shocked if that went for the souls in Heaven too
This is because it is their names that is used to summon the ghost brother
Not Uriel, not Raphael, not Naomi. Their names
Cas and the other three
So wouldn't it be cool if Cas and the other three were the only angels that God gave the power to rescue souls from Hell? That not even the archangels have that power?
I forget small details sometimes so maybe there is evidence that goes against this, but anyway even if there is, it should have been like that
Cas is one of the angels Sam prays to to save Bela from the water ghost
Or even if Sam wasn't praying to Cas directly, Cas' angel name has inherent power in pulling people from Hell which is why it's part of the spell
The spell wouldn't have worked if Sam said
Alex, Carlos, Logan, Riley or even Uriel, Naomi, Raphael, Gabriel
It had to be Cas and the other three angel names in particular
SAM is setting up a kind of ritual circle: five candles, a pentagram, a bowl into which he pours a jar of red liquid. Another jar is on the opposite side of the circle, with what appear to be herbs in it. SAM places something else into the center of the circle.
And Sam didn't need to use anything that belonged to the ghost iirc?
