5 Mobile Apps that helped me in India and that Canada lacks
Body massage booking through an App ?!!
While I was in India, I would say I was there in the golden phase — primarily because of the tech adoption in our daily lives. And the golden phase for tech in India, I believe, will continue for decades to come.
Tech adoption in daily lives makes our mundane routines much easier. And this increases the efficiency by multiple folds.
Here I will explain the top 5 apps that I loved there.
Criteria to select my top 5:
how much impact do these apps have on daily life
how much time saving
how much freedom
how much peace of mind

Song: Waitress
Album: They Live on the Sun
Year: 2003
Thoughts: As with Toys in the Attic, I was only able to find a sample of this one, so my analysis might be somewhat limited in scope. The first thing that stands out to me is how jarring and “off-kilter” this song feels (in contrast to the previous song, Best Friend). Things you think should rhyme don’t, and the singer has a sort of irritating drawl going on for the majority of the song. I do like the lyrics and the idea of this song, but Waitress conjures images of someone drunkenly slumped against a wall, wailing out a song that may or may not make sense (in case you can’t tell I’ve been reading a lot of cowboy books lately which unfortunately seems to be flavoring all of my mental images.)
Entranced by the waitress's skin,
I imagine we'd have a small wedding
Let's do it next Sunday!
Several things going on here: first, these lines actually made me laugh a little bit; there’s a stereotype within the LGBT community of relationships progressing very quickly (aka “Uhaul lesbians), so I find this idea of seeing someone one (1) time and planning a wedding immediately amusing. There’s also the idea of seeing an attractive person out in public and going from “wow they look nice” to planning your entire life together in a matter of seconds, which seems to be what is going on here.
These lines also remind me of Fairy Tale, in a way, which also contains a quick wedding and an idyllic domestic existence immediately followed by tragedy.
We'll move to Canada,
Start a family
Have a cow and a chicken.
I'll write you poetry.
This is where the lack of coherency or rhyming starts to bother me (I don’t know if you can rhyme family and poetry but like, it could be worth a shot??). “Move to ccanada” conjures up a later song by the same name (Moving to Canada, the Meaning of 8).
Again, this song reeks of lesbian cottagecore energy- I don’t know a single gay that hasn’t wasted hours of their lives imagining life on a cute little farm with their S/O.
I'll find you on a Saturday morning,
Making love to the farmer next door…
This is where things abruptly turn sour; clearly the singer is feeling a lot of betrayal right now, and it seems that he’s expressing this through the shattering of the imaginary world he’s created for himself. Like, there’s no point in trying to fall in love again because it’ll inevitably fail or end badly.
Guess I'd rather be lonely.
Essentially, he’s saying that he would rather be alone than deal with heartbreak of this magnitude ever again.
Liked: I’m still amused by the fact that this song ended up being unexpectedly gay (more so than the song actually titled Its Gay); I like that there’s a sense of wry humor in this song, as depressing and awful as the situation is.
Disliked: As I said, I’m not a big fan of the sound, and I’m not really sure that would change if I was able to access the whole thing; I’m also not a big fan of the ending lines, as I tend to be optimistic and also have yet to actually get my heart broken (perhaps I’ll come back to this song if that ever happens, we’ll see.)

#365daysofbiking Duckling and diving:
August 10th - I’d not been well overnight, and ventured out in the afternoon for a gentle bimble. On the canalside near the Pier Street Bridge, I came across mama mallard and her second brood, still doing well, snuggled together in the grass.
Their patient tolerance and perceptible pride made a welcome change from the constant haranguing of the cCanada Geese and swans when trying to get photos.
A lovely little family that cheered me no end.

“Drug Dispenser In Foreign Languages,” Toronto Star. November 30, 1917. Page 09. ---- Employer Gets Till February to Find Another Chemist Who’s a Linguist --- ‘CITIZEN OF HEAVEN’ --- Who is Under ‘Will of God’ Will Serve Under Government’s Will at Front. --- Jacob Labakin, Class A, dispenses drugs in several languages at Cinnamon’s drug store, and this morning at Tribunal 357, Osgoode Hall, Miss Cinnamon, proprietor of the store, was present to emphasize Lebakin’s value to the store. It seems like the applicant speaks the Yiddish, Polish, Russian, Austrian and German languages fluently, not only for ordinary purposes of life but for the purpose of identifying drugs whose names in the foreign language mentioned were said to be even more difficult than in the English language. In filling out prescriptions this means a whole lot. ‘Can’t you replace this man?’ ‘We have tried several times, and find it impossible.’ ‘And you deal a great deal with these foreigners’ ‘Yes. Sales to them form the biggest part of our trade.’ Military Representative Randall: ‘It would be a sad state of affairs if some green hand started dealing out prussic acid to every foreigner who asked for salts.’ Judge Cameron: ‘You will have to try and replace this man.’ Lebskin, who lives at 199 Beverley street, was exempted until February 1918. ‘A Citizen of Heaven.’ John G. Rolland, 63 McCaul St., is a Class A man, but claims also to be a ‘citizen of heaven.’ He wrote the board, saying that he did not see his way clear to ‘take himself out of the will of God and put himself under the will of the Government.’ Rolland belonged to some set of ‘brethren,’ who had no ministers and no signed membership. They do, however, take sacrement every Sunday. Judge Alcorn: ‘Your case does not come under the Act.’ ‘My conscience won’t let me fight.’ ‘I knew the first man in Ccanada to preach that stuff,’ said Judge Alcorn. ‘It was gotten up by a lot of wealthy people to save money.’ At this Rolland’s sister intervened, stating that from the proceeds of his taxi he supports the whole family. She shared her brother’s belief and pleaded for the tribunal to consider that aspect of the application. Exemption, however, was refused. ‘I serve notice on you that I will appeal this case.’ Syrian Exempt; Mother Dependent. T. J. Emid, of 790 Queen st., east, a Syrian, who pleaded exemption on strong grounds of domestic obligations, told the tribunal that 186,000 Syrians have been starved by the Kurds and Turks and his father two brothers were starved to death. His mother escaped this fate by getting to Canada with her son, but she is an invalid and entirely dependent upon her son’s solicitude. Emid is a naturalized Canadian, and expressed his wish to get into the fray, if only his mother could receive as much care as he himself had bestowed upon her. Emid was exempted in accordance with the M.S.A. rules governing naturalizes aliens. Moore F. McRae, of 9 Moscow ave., is a dental student who expects to graduate next May. Temporary exemption is granted in accordance with the M.S.A. regulations covering dental undergraduates.
