what if holly went to beauxbatons instead of durmstrang?

omg i LOVE this

she’d obviously have less of a paranoia about things. but she’d still be really into quidditch, but also naturally excel at the more muggle classes like world history etc

like at durmstrang and hogwarts, she’d be at the top of her class. she’d get work experience at the french ministry, and then just before sixth year, she’d do work experience at the wizengamot in london…

… which is when she’d run into hermione. they’d become friends, and hermione would invite holly to visit the burrow to meet everyone else.

holly would be a little intimidated by harry at first because of the whole chosen one stuff, so they wouldn’t really talk. he’d also be nervous about her because he knows she’s draco’s cousin.

but, because she isn’t at hogwarts, her and draco never really get that close, only bump into each other every so often.

so holly visits hogsmeade a couple of times to see hermione, and harry and ron happen to be there. she becomes closer to them all, and both herself and harry start to fancy each other. he asks her to go to slughorn’s christmas party together, which is really cute — but is cut short because harry runs off to see what draco’s up to.

and holly’s like, ‘i’m not close with my cousin but i don’t wanna get involved in this’

so she stops talking to him, but stays friends with hermione. AND because she goes to beauxbatons she’s mentored by fleur who invites her to the wedding…

… so her and harry have a small reunion. but with everything going on in the wizarding world with voldemort, holly and her dad stay in the south of france until it blows over (i like the idea of beauxbatons having a university too so she just stays and studies wizard law)

but then, when she hears about hogwarts being invaded, holly goes to help fight. she doesn’t really speak for harry though until after the entire thing is over (but she does see draco and they finally become friends, protecting each other)

holly and harry would eventually start dating a little while later. but because beauxbatons doesn’t have durmstrang’s issues, there’s no reason for her to move schools. (which means she gets an education uninterrupted by voldemort which is good for her lol)

(i also like to think that maybe fleur gave holly her mini dragon so holly still has a vivien, and when she goes the burrow she shows them her mini dragon and they thinks she’s SO cool)

what about holly and harry? <3

i know they have the other three but a few years ago i gave them a non-canon child, so let me reintroduce ella potter:

ella’s the second eldest, and is often told she looks identical to her mum at her age, only with dark brown hair and her dad’s eyes. she’s sorted into ravenclaw but her best friend, flo and pansy’s daughter dahlia, is a slytherin so she spends loads of time in the dungeons.

she’s got her dad’s feistiness and her mum’s ambition, but all of this is channelled into her studies more than quidditch or anything else. she stays in her lane… for the most part, since she also has a distrust for authority only the child of the-boy-who-lived-but-was-also-exploited-by-his-mentor could have, often finding herself in saturday detentions after talking back to teachers (it’s not her fault they’re wrong!)

she’s an aquarius and often wonders if she’s the black sheep of the family, but also likes the idea that she’s different. when her little brother gets sorted into slytherin, she gets really protective of him.

i like to think of the four potter kids as having a similar dynamic to the pevensies in narnia; james gryffindor/peter, ella ravenclaw/susan, albus slytherin/edmund, and lily hufflepuff/lucy. ella would have some similarities to susan, but the main thing is that she’s protective of her younger siblings and sometimes sees them more clearly than her older brother does.

but yeah!! ella’s a lana del rey fan and her fave song is a&w.

What perfumes would each of your characters wear? Like their signature scent?

oooh i love this!! i’m gonna base this off of ones i’ve got (my job is to do with this so i got carried away hehe🫶)

briar: burberry her. like, chic and pretty and floral, and it gives me beauxbatons briar vibes especially (idk if lily james did an ad for them once because it’s always reminded me of briar hahah)

holly: marc jacobs daisy, and daisy love (depending on her mood, but i can picture her using a muggle popular but pretty scent — which won’t really matter at hogwarts anyway) (she’d also have the little capsules of these littered in all of her bags, and people at school would think she’s magically making herself smell nice throughout the day)

ruby: maybe prada paradoxe? i was tied between this and alien but both are quite ambery and really stick to the skin. they’re strong and hypnotic without trying too hard (and steve would have a calvin klein aftershave. like the fuckboy he tries to be lol)

fianna: either gucci bloom or viktor&rolf flowerbomb. i’m not 100% sure but something cute, although she’s forget to wear it most of the time and would only really use it on special occasions

isabelle: idk know how they smell but either viva la juicy or vera wang princess. something suuuuuuper 00s BUT she has a soft spot for ariana perfumes

mia: black opium. i like to think she got it because her surname’s in the name but ended up becoming obsessed over it. plus it’s quite a strong and moody scent which describes her lol

livvy: jean paul gaultier scandal. (it’s my favourite aftershave EVER)

Super weird ask, but I was re-reading Clueless and Briar’s go to shoes are converse. I was wondering what your other characters go to shoes are?

oooh not weird at all, i love this question!!

holly — would wear something similar to the prada loafers as her school shoes, then i guess out of school plain converse? like she’d wear loafers in the winter and converse in the winter — also loafers with her friends, and converse with harry

ruby — her aunt once upon a time worked in the city, and would get ruby all of the new clothes, including shoes. but i think the upside down stuff would lead her to have a chunky pair of doc martens. she’d also have a pair of reeboks she wears on the semi-regular. a modern day ruby would have tabis though

mia — would be a boots girl. i also think in the summer when it was too hot for them, she’d grumpily switch them out for black platform sandals, like the lizzie mcquire shoes lol. if most noble was set in the present day she’d also have those mary jane docs from their collab with heaven x marc jacobs

fianna — i’m ngl i don’t know yet, but i like to think boots with a bit of a platform. like very classic 70s, but maybe wears like mary janes to school

what do you think would have happened if your hp ocs weren't put in their original house? would things have changed?

fianna famously would’ve been in slytherin, which defo would’ve changed things. i think she would’ve still become friends with georgia because their brothers were friends and fate and stuff, but i think salome would’ve influenced her waaaaay more. maybe she’d get a little bit cocky for a while and feel super paranoid about living a double life as a slytherin it girl and a half-blood. i don’t think she would’ve been friends with regulus (i feel like he would’ve given her the cold shoulder when they were younger, and she would’ve found his friendship group arrogant) but the swan song plot would still happen — i think fee would’ve just felt more conflicted about helping in case she accidentally outed herself to salome as a half-blood. (but then she would’ve broken away from them anyway bc death eaters are bad lol)

holly would’ve been in ravenclaw! so her plot wouldn’t have involved her stuff with the slytherins as much. i feel like she wouldn’t have been friends with pansy and maybe even with draco? and she would’ve been way more open about being friends with harry because she wouldn’t have the slytherins’ pressure

mia probably would’ve been gryffindor. i’d like to think she’d still be friends with cedric but i’d imagine she’d end up in the same friendship group as briar and the twins.

briar would’ve been hufflepuff! so maybe her and mia would’ve swapped friends? (an enemies to lovers for briar and fred where she’s cedric’s bestie would’ve been so cute omg)

livvy would be ravenclaw, so i doubt he’d be friends with draco and the slytherins? i can’t think of any ravenclaws in his year so idk who he’d be friends with lol (maybe just him and holly are besties)

emilia would’ve been gryffindor (still a disappointment to her family lol). i feel like she would’ve been really close with lily and her friends. she probably would’ve found sirius annoying because he’d be constantly near her lol but i’d imagine he’d start to fancy her around fifth year and make any excuse to spend time with her. i think sirius would pretend he wasn’t as down bad as james for lily, but secretly he was and just tried to be more discrete about it (like he’d never admit it, but he’d always be disappointed if she didn’t show up to parties etc). then maybe the mean spirits plot would happen but they’d already be automatically more acquainted than in the fic

originally holly was in ravenclaw!! the whole durmstrang plot wasn’t conceived until the second draft (the current one) so originally holly was just a kinda moody ravenclaw who just..... didn’t know harry that well. (she was mostly ravenclaw bc i had already done a slytherin champion lol but holly is a slytherin it didn’t make sense she was ravenclaw)

oooooh good question!! ive got to say the original plot but the one for clueless was a fun different idea for me!!! idk i enjoyed writing it but i enjoyed writing the original plot more 🥰
