Support is going out with my hijabi (chadori) friend and the metro gateman letting us pass for free because we were the definition of hijabi and non hijabi solidarity. The face of freedom.
Support is also this business in Iran that was shut down for not enforcing the hijab law on their customers, and then on the day it was reopened, they announced they're offering 50% off to women who don't wear mandatory hijab.
Tumblr media
[Image id// a screenshot of an Instagram story that was made by a business account. it reads: hello beautifuls, we're back! to celebrate the reopening of the store, 50% off is being offered to anyone who shops in person without mandatory hijab. //end of id]
Of course they were forced to apologize and delete their announcement a couple of hours later, but the message stands. The fight won't be over.

I haven't posted on tumblr in a hot minute but I came back to say this.
Sasuke x Naruto shippers, get your asses out of the Sakura x Sasuke tag. Ur legit bitching over nothing.
We don't go all up in your tags and complain. And even if we do, it's bc y'all did it ours first.
More on this rant:
Not liking Naruto x Sasuke does not make you homophobic. Period. You don't have to like the ship at all, and there are legit REAL and CANON reasons people dislike the ship.
You do not have to like sakura x Sasuke either, I understand if someone would dislike the ship bc of how the relationship started and such.
Naruto x Sasuke shippers, please kindly take ur bullshit somewhere else. Sasuke and Sakura are canon, please kindly get over it. They are together, they have a child, they have had romantic moments in the anime, novels and manga. Get. Over. It.
You use the excuse that the relationship is dead, or that Sasuke is a shitty husband or father, or that Sakura is a shitty wife or some shit about her character and achievements, blah blah blah, I read a post about it and the person admitted they haven't watched Boruto, so they have zero idea of what's actually happening.
Sasuke, for one, isn't a shitty husband. Yes I will admit he is absent, but he feels deeply guilty for it, and tries his hardest to make up for it in the way he can.
Sasuke being a deadbeat dad, is so far from the truth that is actually shocks me. People say he only trains Boruto, which is very much not true. He trains sarada quite frequently. An example of this being the fact, he came back for the chunin exams to watch her, he actually states that to her and Sakura. He teaches her chadori (I can't spell it okay? Gimme a break) and water style actually. And it's even in the novels that when he does come home, he spends a lot of time with her, training her or even just spending time with her in general.
The idea he is a shitty husband, is so far from the truth, and you clearly have zero understanding of his character. (Also while where on this note, I would like to add; he would treat Naruto exactly the same as he treats Sakura, if him and naruto where canon that's the truth) he does small but powerful gestures to show his love and care for her. Such as tapping her forehead, holding her hand, saying thank you to her (which is the Japanese way of saying I love you), protecting her, eating the food she makes him and complementing it. There's more but I'm not gonna list em all here.
Now onto Sakura.
This idea that her achievements are fanon and not canon are just..insane to me.
Its literally stated in data books, anime and novels that not only is Sakura the head of the hidden leaf hospital, but she also OWNS hospitals/child mental health services in the sand and leaf.
It's stated that she is one of, if not the best medical nin, in the leaf and practically everywhere else.
She's also fought and defeated mostly everyone she's ever battled against. (not including Sasuke bc let's be real, that was not even a fight)
She's known for having monster strength, or superhuman strength.
She went up against shin, who had so many bloody sharigans he may as well be called Danzo 2.0 and kicked his ass.
Shes saved the lives of thousands.
This is getting super long so I won't list anymore, but please, if ur gonna argue about sasusaku or hate on either Sakura or Sasuke, please at least have your facts correct.

Music video of Chador by Pari Eskandari, an Iranian-born musician based in Berlin.
The video opens with shots of protests intercut with close ups of an imaginary world with Pari in a white dress surrounded by chadori, women in chadors.
Plain black title cards with white text reading:
Their time is over. We know it. And they know it too.
Shot in a set that looks like an underground cave where fires burn, Pari dances with the chadori. They surround her in a circle, running their hands over her face. Pari then levitates over a fire as the chadori shed their coverings. In the next scene the chadori lie on stone slabs as Pari walks among them. She touches the face of a fallen chadori. Pari and other women in white dresses walk in single file, holding burning torches. They dance around a fire and burn a chador.
A clip of Ali Khamenei from a leaked 1989 video: The Islamic community would have to shed tears in blood to even consider someone like me as their leader."
Pari sings: In the sea of blood we're calling the angels from above/ The light has broken/ the spell has begun/ the lips have spoken/ What's done is done/ do not burn yourself on my fire/I've cast myself into the flames/ the heat is on/ the heat is on/ devil devil I defy thee/ mother mother she is not afraid/ mother mother she has felt no shame/ (lines repeat)
Ali Khamenei clip: The issue isn't solely about these street agitators and rioters. Of course this doesn't mean we should overlook these troublemakers. No, every rioter, every terrorist, must face punishment, there's no doubt about it. But the battlefield is not limited to just this: it's a much broader field, a much deeper one. You are standing in the midst of this battlefield. I want every Basij member to realize their own worth. Negotiation won't resolve our problem with America. Yes, there's only one thing capable of resolving our issue with America.
Pari: Do not burn yourself on my fire/I've cast myself into the flames/the heat is on the heat is on/ this mountain will split in two in front of your eyes/ we will burn down your lies/ this game is over/ I'm not done
The video closes with distorted, high pitched screams of women. Pari screams.
Title cards read: For 44 years, a terrorist organization in Iran has masqueraded as a legitimate government. Those who commit murder, torture and rape in the name of God have no God. Their time is over. We know it. And they know it too. In memory of the people who got killed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Taliban on Saturday ordered all adult Afghan women to wear all-covering burkas in public. The decree says women can only show their eyes if they dare venture outside. “For all dignified Afghan women wearing Hijab is necessary and the best Hijab is chadori (the head-to-toe burqa) which is part of our tradition and is.
Thank you,  President Sniffy and VP Heels Up Harris

Afghanistan’s Taliban leaders have issued an order that all Afghan women should wear the all-covering burqa in public.
The move confirms the worst fears of rights activists and is likely to further complicate Taliban dealings with an already distrustful international community.
“We want our sisters to live with dignity and safety,” said Khalid Hanafi, the acting minister in the Taliban’s vice and virtue ministry, as it announced a decree that evoked similar restrictions on women during the Taliban’s hardline rule between 1996 and 2001.
The Taliban previously decided against reopening schools to girls above the age of 12, reneging on an earlier promise and opting to appease their base at the expense of further alienating the international community. That decision disrupted efforts by the Taliban to win recognition from potential international donors at a time when the country is mired in a worsening humanitarian crisis.
Shir Mohammad, an official from the vice and virtue ministry, said: “For all dignified Afghan women, wearing hajib is necessary and the best hajib is chadori [the head-to-toe burqa], which is part of our tradition and is respectful.”
The decree added that if women had no important work outside it was better for them to stay at home. “Islamic principles and Islamic ideology are more important to us than anything else,” Hanafi said.
Most women in Afghanistan wear a headscarf for religious reasons, but many in urban areas such as Kabul do not cover their faces.
The Taliban have faced intense pushback, led by western governments but joined by some religious scholars and Islamic countries for their growing limits on women’s rights. The US and other nations have cut development aid and enforced strict sanctions on the banking system, pushing Afghanistan towards economic ruin.
The burqa is not traditional Afghani dress

Modern Iranian Fashion Aesthetics
In this post, I’m planing to introduce the most popular trends that young girls in Iran wear outside on a day to day basis. The focus is on the past decade (2010s).
Trend cycles tend to last longer in Iran because fast fashion isn’t much of a thing here (companies don’t have that kind of access to slave labour) and imported goods are limited and expensive (sanctions and the value of our currency being less than dirt).
I’ll introduce the styles first and I’ll mention the sources for the reference pictures I used at the end of the post (all came from instagram with the exception of two pictures).
Casual Manto Shalvar
This is pretty much what almost everyone throws on when they leave the house on normal occasions (like going to the grocery store or the doctor). It’s the t-shirt and jeans of Iran and when you go outside, 9 out of 10 people would be wearing either this or a black chador.
It consists of a simple manto with a sweat absorbent shirt underneath and plain trousers with comfortable shoes and a plain shawl.
Tumblr media
The Undergraduate (Daneshjoo)
This is what undergraduate students usually wear based on our national university dress code. Very similar to the style above but with added restrictions (on stuff like manto length and nail polish) and a few tiny differences. The bag is a backpack (usually with either something hanging from it or something pinned to it) and instead of a shawl, they wear a maghnaeh.
Tumblr media
Sarafon with Leggings
Lately more students are wearing a knee length sarafon with leggings instead of manto shalvar. Earth tones are usually more common for this style. Checkered print is also very common here.
I usually see this more with chadori people who wear this under their chador and leave the chador open.
Tumblr media
This type of headband is also pretty common for all three of the styles I’ve mentioned so far and is often used in conjunction with maghnaehs.
Tumblr media
Rangi Rangi
Rangi rangi means colourful. This style tends to use floral and dot patterns, cartoon prints on socks, food prints on socks, denim and lots of bright colours.
Tumblr media
A subset of this is what I call the drivers license where the clothes are mostly denim and mustard yellow, sometimes with a hint of red.
Tumblr media
Daman Zhakat
This is worn by a lot of different types of women (the previous ones where mostly common amongst teens and young adults). For younger people, this is usually worn when you have free time and isn’t really a “going to the store” look. A lot of young people wear this at home when they have a muslim family and a non-mahram guest so they have to cover up a bit. It’s a pretty common look for the older generation though.
It’s basically a long skirt and a plain long sleeve shirt with a jacket and a shawl or rusari.
This has two sub sections that I’m separating based on colour scheme. One that’s usually a bit more techy (top right) or grandma/auntie like (middle second row and top left) that usually uses earth tones, and the other uses more autumn colours and is more of an architecture/photography student type of style (particularly the one on the right, last row).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saheli and Honari
I merged two unrelated styles together for this because I couldn’t find enough reference pictures for one of them. The seconds on the left on both rows is the honari style which I’ll talk about bellow the picture. The rest are saheli.
Often worn in gardens and near the sea on summer vacation, saheli clothing is basically flat sandals and a loose, long dress or skirt or manto with the patterns I included in the pictures. Wearing your headscarf in a turban or having it hang loosely is something I’ve only seen on instagram, I usually see people wearing their shawls normally with this. The fabrics tend to be flowy and light.
Tumblr media
The honari style is something I’ve seen mostly on university students who tend to like contemporary Iranian literater and/or classic western literature. I’ve also often see this style among people who like abstract art and modern theater. The style itself is tile patterns, loose and wide clothes, calligraphy prints, visible short socks and wrinkled fabrics. Orange, dark green, brown, dark blue, brick, mustard and black are common coloures. I see this with either the hair style in the reference pictures or a very poofy and curly hairstyle.
Khanoomi
This style is somewhat old in the contemporary era and it keeps coming back every now and then. It’s basically a loose manto, longish dress or a shirt and skirt with a rusari (it can be worn with a shawl but it isn’t that common) with beige, peach, cream, grey, red and black as its main colours (brow, green and blue also appear occasionally) and dots as its main pattern. It can be worn with tight trousers or leggings. These days, wide sleeves are appearing a lot with this style. Some people go with an older version while some add elements from some newer western aesthetics to it. The fabrics are also pretty specific as is evident by the pictures I’ve used.
I usually see people wearing this at shopping malls and cafes.
Tumblr media
Golgoli
This is the last trend I’ll be introducing today. This trend started with stationaries, wallets and bags and eventually made it’s way into clothing.
Tumblr media
Golgoli means floral. This style often uses english floral patterned fabrics and crochet lace and sometimes (usually red) leather (less common in clothes but common everywhere else).
The clothing style was originally just normal mantos with floral fabrics and crochet lace but eventually changed some elements. It takes inspiration from village women's clothing and is more on the feminine side. It also takes inspiration from some english styles as that’s where the initial fabric pattern comes from. This style doesn’t really have its own set silhouette. The coloures were initially navy blue, cream, black, brown, peach and dark green but eventually diversified. Can be worn with shawl, rusari or maghnaeh.
Tumblr media
It’s usually worn with embroidered floral accessories.
