Root chakra exercise : 
1- Lie on the floor, arms by your side and knees bent. Soles of your feet shoulder width apart. Take a deep breath in then press your lower back into the floor as you breath out.
2- With the out breath, push your buttocks upward, starting at the lower thigh, then moving upward to the groin and pelvis. Imagine a string connected to your tailbone being pulled towards the ceiling. Make sure your lower legs are vertical.
3- Continue pushing upwards for as long as it feels comfortable. 
4- Come back down slowly, bringing the upper back down to the floor first, followed eventually by the tailbone. Slide your arms out to the side to improve your balance and take a few moments to connect to the earth.

This month I’m opening my muladhara-chakra, or better known as first chakra, or root-chakra. I’ll be able to this by focussing on my pelvis, the colour red, the mantra LAM, the earth, the vow U, passion and smells. 
During every flow I will slip in exercises that help activating my root-chakra. Examples are:
-Shift-breathing exercise. This is a way to relieve stress and to concentrate on the flow ahead. 
-Cat-cow. This is practiced on hands and knees. You concave your spine in the cat-stand and convex your spine in cow-stand.
-Crow. Make a deep squat and point toes outward. You try to keep your feet flat on the ground.
-Meditation. Sit with legs crossed and knees outward. Thumb and indexfinger touch and the others stretch out. Or, lay down in most relaxed position on your back with your hands flat on your pelvis. Your thumbs touch.
