The beginning of the year can be a propitious time to set new goals and hopes that will carry you forward for the rest of the year. It can be something big or small, or perhaps a new habit that will bring you closer to achieving what you want to do. Maybe clearing an old WIP, giving a shot at that ambitious idea, or checking out a new book series people keep recommending to you? Considering making a goal or two, or as many as you wish to.

2025/4/7 今、すごい雷が近くに落ちました。 地響きがして入り口のガラス扉もブルンブルンと🫨。 今日はドライブ日和ですね、なんて言って遠くから来ているあの営業さんは大丈夫でしょうか。 無事を祈ります。

🍶 千代の光 Challenge02 酵母無添加生もと（千代の光酒造・妙高市） 両手を広げた乳酸と、ジワリと広がる甘いような苦いような穀物感。 それは微生物たちが生み出した複雑でどこか懐かしい味わいです。 舌の上で元気に踊るいろんな味わいはアルコールと一緒にのどごしへスッと消えていきます。 あの祭りは何だったのだろう、ともう一杯、それもう一杯、いつの間にか抱きしめられているような感覚に陥るかもしれません。

Challenge 02 is up! Something that always hits a bit close to home whenever I read about it, this is an article exploring our growing reliance on instant communication, and marks 6 ways to combat it. No in your face theme to worry about. Enjoy a chill read and get drawing. Sizes are 200mm x 200mm square or a 200mm x 113mm portrait or landscape (a 16:9 aspect ratio to fit on a phone screen); both @ 300dpi.

The next challenge was to make a cross-over so I went with Loki and Solas.

Solas is quite pleased by this, he is back in his element.  Loki is rather annoyed and mildly confused because he was under the impression he was swapping looks with another god.  If this is so why does he look like a hobo?  I imagine I will be hearing from his lawyer *shrug*  He didn’t specify.

Not that I had an entire conversation between the two of them and myself in my head as I was drawing.  Not at all....

Challenge #2 In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. Goals can be useful for showing us where we are with something and what the next steps are, and they can also give us perspective of things. They can also be big or small or have time frame to complete. A quote that has been resonating with me a lot recently for setting goals is this: “We all face walls that can stop us. But it’s empowering to say, nah, no wall. Whether I have to climb over it or smash it down, I’m going to keep going.” - Mariska Hargitay

General Goals

Participate in at least one fandom event (like I did Writer’s Pride Month last year)

Keep writing every day (even if it’s just 15 minutes, even if the output is just two sentences)

Write a fic in German (there have been so many great German tv shows recently; Eldorado KaDeWe was the last one I watched and it blew my mind)

Specific goals (which I already mentioned in my Fic Year in Review)

Finish my WIP “Rainbows over Waikiki” (A backstory for Steve, which I’ve been working on for what feels like ages. It’s about 21k words and I’m currently working on what I planned to be the last chapter. I think I’m gonna need an additional chapter if not two. The thing gets longer and longer when all I want is to finally finish it.)

Write a sequel to Me Ke Aloha (Starting the morning after and only focussing on Steve and Danny, not picking up the Joe/John storyline.)

Write a Jamie/Roy fic for Ted Lasso

(So, I had a draft of this post ready last Sunday. And then this week happened, showing me impressively why it’s completely unrealistic for me to set goals. Fandom-wise that is. Life keeps being busy and unpredictable. Between juggling work, one sick kid at home (fever, no covid thankfully), lots of homework support for my oldest kid and a ton of appointments, I barely had any time to myself. Then I did manage to get some writing time yesterday and did I work on any of the fics I’ve listed above? No. Because my brain had come up with this new idea and was completely stuck on it.

I’m still gonna post these goals, because these are things I really want to do--given time and circumstances allow.)

Matchmaker, Matchmaker...|| Bette&Bart (Challenge 2)

It brought Bette so much joy to see all the little couples in Hogsmeade, laughing and canoodling, and just having a good time in general. The small wizarding community had been decorated flying cupids, strung up paper hearts, and had gooey romantic songs playing in the background.

Honestly, this was one of Bette's favourite holiday's, not only because of the cheery attitude everyone generally tended to have, but also because of the possibility of new relationships.

Not for herself, of course. She was happily together with Wally and wouldn't change that for the world. No, the Hufflepuff was carefully looking around for people were alone, talk with them, and try to figure out a plan to get them on a date with someone else. She liked to play the part of Cupid's sidekick. Cupid's very devious, giggly sidekick.

On the hunt for her next 'victim', Bette made her way to the candy shop. The likelihood of there being someone who wasn't in a relationship was pretty high.

Seems like we all spend a considerable chunk of our fandom time trying to convince loved ones, friends and total randos alike that our fave is in fact the best. This can take shape of anything from watch parties/read-alongs to capslock squee in DMs to relentless gifsets to PhD dissertations.

One of my favourite forms of this is the "fandom manifesto" or "fandom primer," wherein one writes up an outline of what their fave is, why it's great, and links to where one can find more (with more or less detail and formality, depending on the venue).

Challenge #2

In your own space, write a promo, manifesto or primer for your fave character, ship or fandom. Leave a comment in today’s post at The Fandom Snowflake Challenge on DW saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Olá pessoas! Depois de um especial e um challenge na primeira edição, resolvemos aproveitar uma data comemorativa muito importante que está chegando, e resolvemos fazer mais uma rodada de POVs!

Caso alguém não se lembre como funciona, ou seja novo no rpg e esteja viajando legal no que eu estou falando, seria legal dar uma olhada nesse link antes de continuar a ler o post, e conferir o post que explicava melhor o #Challenge01 também.

Bem, continuando, apresento-lhes o nosso tema!

Tema: Dia dos Namorados

Exigências:

É verão;

Algo dá errado;

O personagem está na vila oposta à sua;

O personagem tem alucinações;

Há uma pegadinha/armadilha;

Há um beijo;

Parte do POV se passa na praia ou no lago;

Há uma conversa sobre sentimentos

Itens:

Casamento;

Bombom;

Repelente;

Calendário;

Celular;

Chiclete;

Outdoor.

Bônus:

Música ruim;

Sotaque;

Festa;

Biblioteca;

Cachorro selvagem.

O tema é obrigatório, portanto não poderão fugir dele. As exigências também são obrigatórias e terão que ser todas cumpridas. Os itens deverão ser todos obrigatoriamente usados, mas os bônus só usa quem quer, estão ali só como forma de estimular a criatividade e quem sabe dar alguma ideia.

Outras pessoas poderão ser citadas sem problemas, mas o protagonista deverá ser seu próprio personagem. A data limite de envio é até o dia 12 de fevereiro, quarta-feira (vocês tem 23 fucking dias, não me venham com desculpas depois).

Os POVs deverão ser enviados por aqui, lembrando que o documento tem que estar salvo em bloco de notas. Isso porque as páginas para os POVs são em formato HTML, e nenhuma edição é aceita. Aliás, se quiserem algo negrito, itálico ou sublinhado, usem as tags <b*>, <i*> ou <u*> (sem o *) já que nenhuma dessas edições é considerada pelo bloco de notas.

PS: Destaquem os itens, bônus e as referências às exigências com o negrito.

ART CHALLENGE #02

Alright fam you asked for it!  We’ve finally whipped up our second Mooncat Art Challenge!  Like last time, the winner will receive a 1,000 catbean bonus and their art will be featured at the end of the streams for a week!  

Challenge Task: Using the given reference pose, create a story based illustration depicting a character of your choice.  Please include a small blurb about the character as well (no longer than a few sentences).

Task breakdown: Using the reference photo given above (Does not have to be exact, but do not change the pose drastically; Alternatively, do not trace, please push yourself and use it for reference!), you will design any character you like.  This MUST be a NEW character (no existing characters or OC’s). Your goal is to include STORY into this image.  Whether it’s including a background, a very expressive outfit or facial expression, a dramatic atmosphere, it’s your choice!  I really just want to see that you THOUGHT heavily about every aspect of this character.  I want to feel like I’m a part of their world just by looking!

Questions to ask yourself that can help you come up with a good, well rounded character story:

-How old is my character?

-What are mundane tasks of their day?

-What are their favorite hobbies outside of their day job?  

-What are some of their biggest pet peeves?

-What is one of their fondest memories?

-What is one of their biggest goals?  Biggest fears?

-How would they respond to so-and-so situation?

Other things you can do to really embody your character:

-Think about their inner and outer dialogue.  What would they say to themselves vs. others?

-Think about how does the body language of this pose play into their character?

-Act them out! BECOME THE CHARACTER!  No matter how silly it feels!

Like last time, this will not be based on artistic skill level, I really just want to see how creative you are and how well you’re able to express a story through one illustration!

Deadline to enter is one week from now, Saturday June 3rd!

Stop Angsting and Drink Your Damn Tea | B&R (Challenge 2)

It was Valentine's Day, and the whole school was filled with students giving each other lovely chocolates and gifts, enchanted 'cupids' flying around and bugging innocent victims with arrows to the backside. Everyone generally had a smile on their face, or at least a care-free attitude.

Everyone that was, except for a certain red-haired archer ex-boyfriend.

Bette had spent the beginning of her morning passing out some of the various baked treats she'd made for her friends in between classes and giving them little cards, and she'd gotten nearly everyone. However, she couldn't find Roy anywhere, and she had the feeling he was spending the day somewhere outside, possibly drinking and most likely being a grump. 

So, during her lunch break, she began looking for the Slytherin boy. First, she checked the Grand Hall. No Harper to be seen. The outer courtyard? Nope. She even worked up the courage to ask William Hayes if he was in their common room, to which she received a creepy glare before discovering that he was not there when he had left.

That left very few places for him to go angst at. The blonde furrowed her brow and tried to think which one was most likely, considering he probably wanted somewhere to be alone to wallow in his self-pity. This wasn't healthy, and Bette, worrying per usual, was determined to find a way to get him out of this funk and back to a more functioning attitude.

'Perhaps, he's gone down to the forest by the lake. It's still pretty cold, so not a lot of students are probably down there.' Bette thought to herself. 

It was worth a shot.
