Continuing the "I can't believe I never posted this here" series, back in early 2017 my default baby gift was crocheted baby converse and I've always liked making monsters, which led to this photo that I think looks like a very dramatic start to a quest

ok hi. so about the crochet sevika tapestry (here), if you would like me to make you one, please message me on here. they will be $60.
things you need to know so please read:
i want to make it very clear that this item is not large by any means. it’s about 10in x 10in.
i will require getting full payment before i start on the project.
i will only accept payment through paypal, as it’s the only thing i have.
tapestry does not come with any materials, such as a dowel rod, to hang it up. (i used push pins to hang mine up)
also please note, i will be able to start crocheting since i have the materials (yarn) for it. i do not know how many i will be able to make with the amount of yarn i have left, but it should be at least 2-3 more. i currently do not have the materials to ship things just yet, but when i do i will let anyone who wanted one know. i just want to go ahead and post this to get an idea if multiple people will want one.

I wanted to try some simple pattern making and so I started with the Void Cat! I’m probably going to experiment with the shapes and sizes of this one guy for some time just to see what I can get, and then filter my notes into a useable pattern! Honestly, the potential for making it into Toothless is so there….

(Yet Another) Tallit Update:
Tumblr media
Just started my first color change! I decided to make the stripes stand out with a double crochet stitch.
Now that this first stripe is two inches (5 cm) from the bottom, I think the next stripes will be 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) apart. I've almost gone through my first skein of white, so this is almost 210 yards (192 m) worth of yarn already! I'm going to hate this project by the time it's finished

Fiber arts update: we have achieved ~hat~
Tumblr media
Bonus: WIP, and Hat, as modeled by my trusty assistant Yorick
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all of this is handspun; the grey is "Polarfuch"/fine icelandic wool, the colors are superfine merino.
I honestly don't particularly enjoy crochet, but it feels good to have made a piece of clothing, however small, from scratch. Might try to add fingerless gloves, but I don't think I have enough yarn left.
/EDIT: slightly more info - the yarn's all spun worsted and as a 3-ply; the Icelandic was plied from singles, the Merino was chain-plied because I only had 10 grams per color. It's stuff meant for wet-felting, very fine and quite expensive, but it was still cheaper than paying for shipping, and the colors are really nice too. The "Polarfuchs" on the other hand is quite cheap, and something I intend to work with a lot more because it's just such a nice, rustic option. Spinning took me a couple of days, plus two or three more for crocheting. The hat is worked as a rectangle in back-loop only single crochets and sewn/cinched at the top. Could've turned out a bit longer tbh, but that's the risk of following standard patterns I guess.

ok idk if I’ve been weaving the ends of my crochet projects in correctly.
I usually ch1 and fasten off (sometimes don’t ch1 if the pattern doesn’t say so). And then I cut the yarn and pull it securely. I then just use a crochet hook to weave it the tail into a few previous stitches and then cut it.
Also, I’m considering getting a needle that’s better for weaving ends than my plastic one (which I use for some projects, but a metal might be better for that too).
Anyway, I have seen people use crochet hooks to weave in ends and I don’t think that’s a problem, I was just wondering if I should do it any other way (with just my hook) so that it’ll be more secure.

Cool fact #187985:
Even if you’re not looking at maps and graphs from scientists, you can still track climate change/collapse on crochet hobbyists yearly temperature blankets.
“I finished last year’s temperature blanket but didn’t end up using three of the coldest colors so it actually ended up more red…like the last two blankets…”
Isn’t that fun

I realized I never showed you guys pics of all my amigurumi projects so far, so here's a little tour
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In chronological order :')
Bunny and baby Yoda designs by Crochethea, the lil snail and Oikawa's base body from a crochet magazine I bought, and the snakey snek by Complicated Knots. Hawks was my first design! (tho my very first attempt at making something without a pattern was Tooru's hair. And let me tell you, now I understand Iwa's contempt for its perfect waves dhhsjdh)
Most of those were gifts so they have already found new homes, but I had a lot of fun making them :')
