Daryl's paranoia long predated the apocalypse. He preferred not to go into a room with only one exit, and staying at the prison had severely tested his willingness to be trapped in a space. That had fallen apart, and he'd found himself on his own again for a time, his friends scattered with no way to contact each other. Taking up with Kyleigh was a recent development, one he still wasn't sure was a good idea. He'd always been fine on his own. It was safer that way, but making real connections with Rick's group had done something to him. He missed conversation (other people's, since he wasn't much of a talker himself) and the reassurance of another living, breathing body nearby. It was too loud in his head on his own, and sticking with her stopped his mind from constantly circling around whether the rest of them were okay.

The house looked like its better days had been well before the dead started coming back to life, but the sky said there was a storm coming. They needed shelter while there was still light left to see by. Kicking in the door was easy, and nothing came swarming out at them, but he wouldn't be comfortable until they'd checked every room. He'd come to a dead stop in the hallway, his body locking up and refusing to take a step into the tiny half-bath. He could see from there that there was nothing living or dead in it, and his every instinct rebelled against the enclosed space. His shoulders stiffened at the question, always uncomfortable with other people's scrutiny, and he stepped away from the door, moving further down the hall. "Not doin' nothin'. Nobody in there."

(Lana's POV)

After camp wit Parker's family, we immediately headed to Chestnut Ridge to join my family for a small family vacation before the babies come. I felt poorly for almost the entire time we were at camp so I kept things lights and did a lot of resting, thankfully I felt better by the last day so we didn't have to cancel on my family. We got such a nice SimBnb that was big enough for all of us in a nice quaint neighbourhood. Before we ernt I reached out to my followers and asked if there were any Bible believing churches that we could attend while there and a few girls reached out and gave us details, so we were able to attend a weekday session while away. The pastor gave such a powerful sermon that it brought tears to my eyes!

I can't believe that sooner rather than later we're going to be holding our babies in our arms! These are such precious gifts from the Lord, and to be having twins for our first pregnancy is honestly double the blessing! Other than Kyleigh, I'm the only one who has had multiples as a first pregnancy, so I've been leaning on her a lot as her first pregnancy was with the triplets!

I've been taking a lot of naps as I'm about to enter the nesting phase, and my favourite way to nap is to have Parker with me. It's like the babies know that their dad is next to me while I nap, they calm down and actually let me nap without too much moving around. The weather outside wasn't too hot so a late afternoon/early evening nap outside on the porch was one of my favourite parts of the vacation.

The girls I was chatting with before we came were so gracious and took us out to sightsee, we saw wild horses running the fields as well as the competitions at the equestrian centre. Parker, Lyndsey, and dad were the only ones up for riding horses so my mum and I cheered them on from the sidelines. It was so great getting to see my family and be together before I'm essentially on lockdown for the babies to come. They plan to be in town for when the babies come and my mum and sister will stay with us for the first few days to help, with my sister staying longer.

Hoytwater Village #2 - "Landgraab Love"

It's Saturday night and we find Gidget sharing a late dinner with Orlando and sharing stories about her dad, Malcolm Landgraab, and Andrea's wedding.

The guests had barely began to arrive when things went off-track.

The guests kept milling around and doing their own things. I literally had to click on the wedding arch three times to get the wedding moving along.

Some guests paid attention, some chatted thru the whole thing, Frances gave her back to the wedding couple the whole time, and KyLeigh was off having her own adventures throughout. She watched the vow exchange from the back stairs.

Every one enjoyed food from the buffet and butler, a few danced with Malcolm and Andrea. Lots of outdoor bowling went on.

The wedding party wrapped up with a good score.

If he were to ask her personal opinion Kyleigh wasn't sure a lot of the changes that had happened down on Earth were good. But this chat with Peter only made her even more curious as to how long it had been since he had been back home and what would be the first thing he would do if he got the chance. "I get that. Makes you a lot different than some of the others, the ones we call heroes I mean. Sometimes it goes to their heads and it makes them so hard to be around. Not you though! Feels like I'm catching up with an old friend that just so happens to live in space."

"That is certainly a lot of changes." He said. "But it does sound like it's all for the good really." Peter said. "Or at least it kind of sounds like that, but I could be wrong about that." He certainly didn't like admitting things, but he could admit when he was wrong if he was wrong. A small shrug from him. "We didn't do this for that reason to start with." He said. "And it's not even really the important part."

Can you write sm where austin is doing your hair(bc he totally knows how to do intricate styles from when he had long hair) and just chatting with him about what both of you have planned for the week

You had your head in Austin’s lap, he was running his fingers through your hair.

“I’ve got to finish up the press tour this week.” He said, twirling a piece of your hand around his finger. “Mm.” You hummed, enjoying the feeling of him playing with your hair. “Whatcha got planned this week, love?” He asked, taking the loose piece of hair and braiding it.

“Gotta get some groceries, maybe clean up the house a bit. I know Kyleigh is going to be in town, so I may go visit her.” You thought about how you hadn’t seen your best friend for a while, with Austin’s hectic filming schedule life had thrown the two of you for a tailspin. You both layed there in silence, Austin playing with your hair as you slowly slipped into a light sleep.

“Goodnight beautiful.” He mumbled quietly, leaning up against the arm of the couch, continuing to play with your hair.

Of all the people she has met in her time with the company, others that worked backstage with her or the talent, none of them have been able to get under her skin the way that Drew has. And this is only their first conversation! Imagine if she could tolerate him enough to have another chat! But because she must be professional and she needs this job she attempts to keep her cool, breathing in deep through her nose. The wolf inside knows every single way to end his life very quickly, and if he keeps this shit up Kyleigh might just let her. At the mention of the Samoan superstar she can't help but roll her eyes, already annoyed with hearing that man's name come out of Drew's mouth yet again.

"Man you really are obsessed with him! Nepo baby or not what difference does it make? You've proven before that you can beat him." Yeah she probably shouldn't have said that and inflated Drew's ego even more, but it was the truth. "Listen I know you're trying to make some kind of point here with all this, but the more you say the more it just sounds like you're jealous of those wrestlers. But no, I don't think that about all of you. I know most have worked their asses off and sacrificed a lot to be where they are and that's not easy. I just don't hear them bitching about it all the time like spoiled little brats that didn't get their way."

So I am going to respond to this as a post because I love vampires as you can see also me and Tabby had a chat about them a while ago. So what sort of Vampire a person is, depends in my own head-canon greatly on 3 factors:

1. What sort of person they were as a human. 

If they are a complete bastard then when they are turned their vampire self will be as bad at least and quite likely worse. Anton as a human was selfish, egotistical, and uncaring. Thus as a vampire he was all of that, but that uncaring nature evolved to cruelty, selfishness became evil, and egotistical just got worse.

So if we use Kyleigh and Judith as case studies. Judith as a human was vain, shallow, self absorbed, and she was also uncaring about others and their feelings. This was who she became when she dated Daniel Moriarty, and then when she started dating Anton... yikes. So now as a vampire, her vanity has reached epic proportions, to the point where she is willing to torture and drive an innocent woman mad, which ties into her uncaring and now cruel nature, and her self absorption has just made her evil. So in short Judith had that right level of qualities to be an evil bitch when she was turned. Anton knew this, and realised she’d be a perfect companion to him. At least till he tired of her. Thankfully, Bob was able to kill Anton.

Kyleigh by contrast was as a human mired by conflict about who she was and what her existence meant. She was conflicted as to if she was her own person or just a copy of another. She was also dying as a human as the cloning process was faulty that made her, so she wanted to live. That was her biggest drive and it carried over into her vampire self. Kyleigh was also rather cunning and manipulative and wanted her own way. But she wasn’t purposefully cruel. As evidenced by the fact she willingly raised Brian Needzek (as seen in “War of the Spacemen”) as her own son. So as a vampire, Kyleigh’s conflict grew into am I a monster, or still a person? And well, while she definitely became more aggressive and more violent in the early days, she was RARELY driven to kill. Because her understanding of life’s value carried over into her vampire self.

2. Who turned them?

I don’t think of vampirism as just one thing. I am rather inclined in my head canon to think that all vampirisms are unique, and this is why the order of the sun have been unable to simply cure the vampires of their afflictions and change them back to human.

Again looking at Kyleigh, compared to a LOT of vampires, she really isn’t that bad. Even when she would happily feed on humans she wouldn’t take so much they’d die. As she told Lilith once something like “a dead chicken, cannot lay anymore eggs.” Kyleigh was turned by Vlad himself, leader of the vampire council. Now, Vlad is undeniably a son of a bitch. So a lot of Vlad’s traits and Vampiric abilities will have potentially transferred in. But Kyleigh’s own mind and will is strong enough that she can control it.

Judith though as evidenced before she was turned was quite easily led, Daniel and Anton were able to change her to suit them better. So Anton was rotten to the core and evil and cruel, all those things, so Judith received that when turned and I feel this is why MOST vampires in my head canon are nasty fuckers. Most simply cannot control the beast. There is a scale of vampire nastiness and Anton was at the top of the scale. So any vampire he’d sire would be horrific too. As would Vlad’s unless, he turns somebody with a strong will or a great internal conflict. Thus Vampirism manifests differently in every person hence, no one size fits all cure in my head canon.

3. How long they have been a vampire.

This is important because a new vampire will not be nearly as bad, as a 10 year old vampire for example. A 100 year old vampire is worse again. So the older the vampire gets the less human they become. Here is the kicker, because in my head canon, while they stop ageing physically, they carry on mentally as such. So eventually, a 90 year old Vampire will not have much humanity left as eventually it gradually dies off like a wilting plant. Which is why Lilith who in my game I treat as a few hundred years old is about as human as a potato is. Kyleigh still likes to smoke and drink and go to clubs and enjoy human weaknesses and and pleasures. Lilith just didn’t get it anymore. 

@sparkiekong and I had a discussion about this I think about loss of humanity, and while there will be some scattered exceptions here and there as a rule of thumb, there comes a point where there won’t be anything left of the person they were. So what is Judith going to be like when she’s 100 years old? If she lives that long then... she will be what I would consider vampire clean through, so even if she was cured, she’d still behave, and think, like her vampire self did.

So the question being what sort of Vampire Yvette will be? Well, Judith turned her so that gives her a serious viciousness boost already. Of course she won’t be a vampire long... but then there is the first point. Just what was she like as a human does she have any traits or qualities that vampirism has the potential to make worse.

(Kyleigh's POV)

After the Celeste's wedding weekend I rushed back home to do loads of laundry and finish packing up the RV for our travels to my parents. It was such a blessing to have the family all back in town (barring Beckett and Mandy - though we did send a tonne of pictures and videos back and forth to make them feel included) for another family wedding. Zoe announced her pregnancy just before this loads of chatting about appointments and ultrasounds and kids clothes. We're headed to my parents for the christmas and new year period, so it's been heads down and focus mode on in preparation for travel. I've been to see my doctor and we had a scan for baby, all is looking good and I'll all set to see the doctor when we come back in a few weeks. Since we're planning to be gone for a bit longer than usual, I've gotten in contact with a doctor in Brindleton Bay that I can see in case I need anything while at my parents'. We've scheduled the work on the house to start in the spring once all the snow has melted, in the meantime we'll have an extended stay at my parents house before coming back to Newcrest and staying at the big house until the house is livable again.

No matter the state of the house, there's always going to be someone who needs a little extra special time every now and again. Violet has such an open heart and is getting better at expressing herself more and more, and one day she had a terrible down day that just wasn't letting up. She shared her heart with me and we had a bit of prayer time and that made her feel just right! Once she was feeling better she asked to feel the baby, the more pregnancies I have the bigger my bump gets earlier. All the kids love feeling their new brother and sister in my belly, though right now it's still too early to feel any movement.

We're currently on a homeschool break right now for the holiday season, but Rose still loves writing down notes. She's always writing something, be it letters to friends and family or her notes from sunday school. She's taken it upon herself to write letters to the senior citizens that we visit with our ministry to the retirement homes, she wants to personally wish every single one of them a Merry Christmas & a happy new year as she knows that not all of them have family to go visit during the holiday season. We're going to post all her letters before we go so that they can get them in time for christmas.

      Not expecting much else from Tallahassee, the half lycan began to look around as well. Sometimes words weren’t really needed and given the fact that those dead heads were attracted to noise she figured it was probably best they didn’t chat any more. She liked that about him though. Still having to force small talk in the end of the world was almost as bad as being eaten by the dead.

      She was checking out a package of some kind of dried meat when she heard him speak of this gated community he was headed back to and she let out a snort.

      “Sounds like you found the richies neighborhood and took it over. Not that I blame you. If you’re gonna survive you might as well survive with the best of them.” Honestly she was a bit jealous. Right now she was just living out of her car, and frankly she was sick of it.

      Coming out of her thoughts just in time to catch the can of beans he threw at her, Kyleigh’s eyebrow shot up and she seriously considered his offer. Of course he could just be bullshitting her and attempt to kill her the second he got her in this community. But she wasn’t picking up that kind of vibe from him.

      “If I can bring my car and check this place out first then I say I’ll at least think about it old man.”

      “We sure did. It's Bill Murry’s mansion, we figured if we’re gonna be livin’ why not live in style? The place has everythin’ you can think of.”

      Tallahassee didn’t want to sound like he was bragging, okay maybe just a little because it was his idea after all to live at Bill’s. Being a die-hard fan of the man too Tallahassee was just really proud that it all worked out. Minus the part where Columbus killed Bill. May he rest in peace.

      He could understand why she’d want to check the place out first before deciding. One couldn’t really trust each other nowadays. Look at what happened with Wichita and Little Rock during their first meeting.

A huff escaping the archer's throat in response, he wasn't that stupid. Besides Daryl knew what pride could do in a world like this, it could make you or break you. So he had no intention in getting himself killed but still he was going to risk it because sometimes you just had to. Something Kyleigh should know by now but the male appreciated the concern.

“Yeah kind of like that whole you just have to learn on your own type of thing. Or some day when you’re older you’ll understand.” Kyleigh heard those things quite a few times in her life, and now she understood why they had been said to her. Though she was still just as clumsy as she ever was, but at least now she knew not to run through her own living room. “You’re right about that. When I can’t go visit my Aunt or she’s busy with the diner we just video chat with each other. Helping her learn what all the different terms and emoji’s meant is always fun.” Though the woman was pretty smart in her own right, she just was a bit behind on modern day slang. Kyleigh wondered if that was how Arthur kept in touch with the others when he was off on his own adventures and if the kind of technology they had down where his brother was from was used in helping to save the world. She did smile when he mentioned his father though, fondly remembering how kind he had been to her when she first showed up in town. “I like to imagine that’s how all parents get to be at some point. When we get older and have our own lives they just want to see us in person to make sure we’re still okay. No matter how much we age we’ll always be their little kids you know?”

“Yeah that is definitely how that works.  Oh that was worst one.  Though my dad was never one of those types.”  His dad typically told him everything.  Had been very open about it especially early on.  It’s how he knew about his mom.  “See that’s the thing about technology.  Some of it good some of it bad.  I know my dad certainly needs help with it a bit.”  He’d gotten much better at it.  There was certainly some hard things about it.  The social media posts that made him and anyone else saving the world be careful or else they were plastered all over the news.  Though the selfies with some people were kind of fun sometimes.  “Yeah I think you might be right.  Especially now that mom’s around again.”  He said.  “But yeah I get that feeling too.”  He continued.  He only caught his dad looking at him like he was still little.  There were almost times he missed it really, but his dad had done a pretty darn good job at raising him.  “I know I catch my mom doing that, but she has an excuse.”  He said.  She’d been gone since he’d been really little so she really looked at him like he was a little boy.

Vlad *thoughts*:  impressive! He… he actually did it, he killed that annoying little asshole. And now it looks like he will soon be gone too… I smell death. It’s a good thing, he could have been a problem for us… I really must have a chat about Kyleigh about that human at some point…. I hope she will have answers.

After observing Anton’s final moments, Vlad turned and vanished in a puff of dark smoke.

Lyra stood and watched as Anton bucked and shuddered. He was finally in the throes of death, and eerie purple glow surrounded him as he took his last moments.

The glow intensified and the dust and smoke swirled for a moment more and then Anton was gone, dust. After nearly three centuries of causing mayhem wherever he went, Anton Selvarious was gone.
