THE GUARDS WERE UTTERLY at a loss as to what to do with this strange foreigner who had just walked up to the palace and practically made themselves at home within it. Awkwardly they had attempted to answer some of the other’s questions, but since this was a wholly…unexpected…situation that none (or anyone for that matter) would have been prepared to handle, watching the interaction was no differently from watching fish flopping around on the shore of the Nile after the waters receded from a heavy rain. Sandals clacking against polished stone, he made his way down the hallway towards the ‘commotion’, the two guards in question practically begging their king to save them without having to say a word at all. ❝Chenlóng, are you interrupting the guards and blacksmiths from their duties again?❞

      Did he really need to ask when the answer was as clear as day right in front of him? ❝Your excitement is understandable, however, it would be best to approach them in another manner.❞ He gave a quiet sigh, hand resting upon his hip as he shook his head. ❝Come, come – I will entertain you in their stead...at least until they are off duty.❞ Golden eyes shifted to the guards in question, an inaudible exchange in that look before focus moved back to the dragon.

“What?” For a moment, Jinluo is genuinely confused at the question. She traces her fingers upon her face; droplets of salty tears had made their way to dribble down from the corner of her eyes. “…Oh.” && now the realization has truly hit her. She must have been too focused with cutting && slicing down the onions into small dices, not even realizing that tears were already welling up the whole time — as if she wasn’t feeling the stinging sensation around her eyes at all.

“I’m sorry… this must’ve looked unsightly.” She would immediately reach for the closest piece of cloth nearby, wiping her soaked eyes && the wet remains of the trailing tears on her face. A reassurance is then offered to her honored guest as an effort to remain professional to her job. “You don’t have to worry about me, Lord Chenlóng… the dinner will be ready soon.”
