In the early years of Pro Stock racing the weight factors were very important. Smaller engines ran in lighter cars. Bill Jenkins decided that a 331 cubic inch small block Chevy was optimal.
He installed a small journal 327 crankshaft with bearing spacers into a 350 4-bolt main block. He decided that 5.85 inch long connecting rods were the best length (5.70 is stock). Then he bored the block .030 oversize.
When he installed it into his Vega he won so many races that he was considered the highest paid athlete that year.

The 1978 Pontiac Firebird Esprit was a luxury model with a deluxe interior package and a standard Pontiac 350 engine. It came with appearance options, including the Skybird package with an all-blue car and dark blue accents. Mid-year, the Skybird was replaced by the Redbird Appearance package, featuring a red exterior and interior with gold accents.
The 1978 Pontiac Firebird Formula featured a new interior, black grille accents, and Rally II wheels. The standard engine was a 145-bhp Chevy 305, but a 170-bhp Chevy 350 was optional. Other engine options included: 180-bhp 400 L78 // 220-bhp 400 W72 and an // 185-bhp 403 Oldsmobile: (California only)
The 1978 Formula was similar in appearance to the 1977 model, with the biggest changes happening under the hood. This was the last year for the Pontiac big block, with only around 8,600 left over for 1979 models due to high demand.
The 1978 Pontiac Trans Am was a muscle car with a shaker hood, quad headlights, and a choice of three V8 engines and transmissions. It was one of four Firebird models available that year. The base 400 L78 engine produced 180 hp, while the W72 400 put out 220 hp. California models had an Oldsmobile 403 engine with 185 hp. The 1978 Firebird saw a 70% increase in sales compared to 1976, likely due to its appearance in the Burt Reynolds movie; “Smokey and the Bandit”.

The 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova introduced a bold new look with sharp, clean lines and a squared-off profile that emphasized its compact muscle car appeal. This model year marked the beginning of the second generation, with available V8 power—most notably the 327 cubic-inch engine, delivering up to 350 horsepower in the SS trim. Lightweight and quick, the ’66 Nova became a favorite for street and strip racing alike. Its simple, aggressive design, combined with big power in a small package, made it a true sleeper classic.

He says the lotus Elise the Elmira even the Elektra that you can take Japanese cars and they already do but make a full kit to transform them into a lotus easily easily done this has a rear panels come off in the rear end and sometimes the front panel so you don't have to I think it's awful but they're pretty close and you can do like a plant on or something in the front end you need to change out but now you need to take the panels off it'll be an easy job it's very close to some of the Asian cars like a whole bunch of them and they have power he changes the panels and it's faster they're bolt on mostly. Even when they meet the roof there's a line I think we're going to do this because he wants to do something else after.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This car is discontinued they don't make it anymore. And you can make a replica of an older car that's discontinued it didn't make money but they did make them. They were competing and it worked but they couldn't keep it up and he says you can start with a kit and go from there the lotus company has a good name there's another name for the flower but that's not right but he says that we could name it another flower a type of orchid he's on orchid way or or can drive and Hera gets it and is going to look the lotus is not an orchid what is close it is close and they're poisonous flowers but we are going to go ahead with this and we know which one and she's helping she actually picks the right one. And really this is like that Lambo it's just like a drop on and he wants to make drop on kits. These are not hard to make but he wants to sell it either totally panalized in both up or drop on. There's really a delivery system in place it wouldn't be that hard to deliver these and there's a lot of people who have trucks who need to work and they can deliver one for not too much there's a way to offload them from almost any truck and they roll out with ramps and it's not hard to put them in we do want to go ahead with this this is an awesome idea to make a kit is awesome we know it fits on it's one of the Mazda cars and it's front wheel drive but the engine would fit with slight modification and people would buy it like hotcakes really tons of people after that you can make it with a mustang just relocate the engine to a mid engine like this is going to be massively fast and people will request it a lot and there's a way to do it fast and you relocate the motor and you prep the body unfortunately you have to take the dashboard out and stuff but we'll make it a kit so everything comes it's like plug and Play and a lot of it and the sun will end up making one and it's a lotus a real one and he says we're going to make production lotus cars and they are drop on so we can send him the real thing that's an awesome idea and see if people notice it's a way to get him the real thing we're going to try and do that with everything but we have to have roll cages but this is going to be great this car from lotus what's going about 290 you change a few things it cost $3,000 and it goes $350 miles an hour our version when we use a mustang chassis or Chevy Camaro mid engine will go 450 mph it's extremely fast and we have a way of doing it and drop on is the way to go it's perfect we're going to start with the lotus car the Elise and things like that and people make this panels and it'll look just like it we can make it look a little hotter actually it's true for a whole bunch of Japanese cars and they're going to start doing it tomorrow and we have people who are volunteering
Thor Freya
This is our car even though it's not an American our son and daughter have a brand that they made yeah it's not in production and we started off with that it has to be retrieved from the CIA and Trump wants him to do it and then Tommy F it's his car and it motivates him it's not really his car but it's a different one but he wanted to go in there and get it so he's angry all the time and stuff and Tom Cruise takes a beating and finally he gets angry and says I get it so stops Emily blunt and goes after Tommy f and they have a fight and Tommy F loses and his son gets a version of the car yeah it's the real thing and people can't believe it you see him in this car it is so hot you would not die looking at it and it's very fast and he doesn't go too fast in it he says I can't do it I'm not really suited yet and I don't have training and things like that one day he's out of going to a super car training class can you bring your own car. He has a limiter but they go around 120 so I think we think he does and he's smiling and grinning and they don't have the cars in there yet and they're in the classroom and they're parked in the parking lot and people are looking at them other drivers and they're pretty hot looking they're Ferraris and Porsche and Bugatti and the ones that really they look like fly cars and they come up to his and they say what the hell is that it looks like the one from Batman a little bit cooler lower and is big it fits him and it's bigger than theirs and these are a bigger class cuz you have to be in the right class and they said is that thing even legal and they're walking around it and some of them are saying and they're keeping each other from touching it and they're saying it I think I know what this is this is that hot car everybody wants and it's out and tons of people are getting it and these guys are like higher ups and they don't have it yet so foreigners are getting it they're going to class and they see him Missy you're in a different class you're quite a pretty sure I'm in this class and then say no your vehicle is it a different class and really you should be in a different class and as soon as I was like well I don't know all that stuff and it started to giggle a little and they're saying it it's pretty Sharp but it's not up to speed and he's looking for the cockroach in the kitchen and he doesn't see him and doesn't see him below so it's gross but this dumb cockroach is doing is peeking up so he's in the parking lot and he is doing a good job and he manages to say it's his car somehow and people are digging me I mean this car is hot so they go outside and ask him what it is and at that point it has a name and they're saying it's a kit car and secretly saying not really thier saying who the hell built this. And they know they're kind of stuff he does they said wow his grandpa built it and they wanted one and they're talking to him and he says I can't get you that you'll come after me and also he says but I think I have five of them I can sell you anyone like 10 million each. He was asking for like 2 million and he's going two millionies started smiling so they're offering him $12 million and another 15 and he says they're about 20 and they have a V12 and some Volvo or Renault the drivetrain is impeccable and most of it's titanium alloy and most of the cars are not and he goes through the specs and he's telling them what it is and they bought them for 20 million each and Tom Cruise says good it'll be worth it it'll be treated with respect so he adjusts the price
No he hasn't built that many he built a ton of them for his own people and he sells them to them for like 2 million and all sudden they start saying we remember there are two million dollars it says I'm selling them in house and they said okay how much is he pay and he's not saying so there's an agreement in an arrangement and it is for money even it's not much so he says he can't tell anybody so he was really like 20 and he says yeah around there it says I can tell him that and he says yeah you just can't tell Garth... He kind of heard it he's smiling and waving and you heard this from behind you hey what's the deal you thought it was him so you look real quick and he's going no so they said we don't want some of your friends to see this some of them are okay in the same a little bit and he says yeah I have to be
This is another idea and it's really good and we want to start proceeding we have people who need these cars and people who don't like them for a good reason and we want you to find a way to sign up if it's man and personnel is there in your our people you'll get it going he wants people like him to do things you're young even very young to start working on these projects he's got some fans some children they want to work on the toys that have big wheels and they want some of those and it's like a rubber plastic tire and they're durable and we want to go ahead and do it they want to see what it's like riding around because you do it all the time it says where he is it's very difficult and it's good to train and practice now they're up and they wanted to it and what you say is if you use the mind to get there and they're going to do it and they thank him and he thinks them back and bows good. He saw the show today and kids were helping keeping him from getting in trouble and he loved he loves you it's crazy he thought it was great and he tried to pull a wheelie and he said it's just not going to happen it's really kind of heavy even though it's like 80 lb and it started laughing and saying it's not that light now and then like 30 pounds or 25 pounds he lifted up and he told the kid this is the lightest bike I've ever seen and he said yeah it's pretty light he was saying it's kind of heavy but it's not
We want this to go ahead he wants those kids to have this nice car a kit and they love it they said that's a good idea and so we're going to try and get it going
Thor Freya
We can find one of these and make this body and and do it our ladies to a lot of this interior work and that's it's great and terrific and this other things like you would probably end up with one and they're going ahead with it now
..
Olympus

Ultimate Towing Power: Best Trucks Ranked for Hauling
Hi there, and thanks for stopping by. My name is Farrukh, and I’m proud to represent Ali Towing, serving the community right here in Halethorpe, Maryland. For many years now, I’ve been out on the road, responding to calls all across the state—towing everything from compact cars stranded on the shoulder to heavy-duty equipment stuck in tricky spots.
Through thousands of miles and countless tows, I’ve come to truly understand what separates a good tow truck from a great one. When you're in this line of work, your truck isn’t just a vehicle—it’s your partner, your lifeline, and sometimes even your office. It has to be tough, dependable, and ready to handle whatever the job throws at you—rain, snow, late nights, or early mornings.
In this post, I want to share some of that hard-earned knowledge with you. I’ll be breaking down my top choices for tow trucks that have consistently proven themselves out in the real world. These aren’t just trucks that look good on paper—these are the ones that have been tested in the field, under pressure, and in all types of conditions.
Tumblr media
Why Choosing the Right Tow Truck Matters
Selecting the appropriate tow truck isn’t just about moving heavy loads; it’s about ensuring safety, maintaining control, and protecting your cargo. A truck that’s not up to the task can lead to overheating, unexpected breakdowns, or even accidents. I’ve witnessed firsthand how using inadequately equipped trucks can result in damaged trailers and stressed drivers. That’s why at Ali Towing, we prioritize trucks that meet high standards for safety, power, and control.
Keywords: towing and recovery, heavy-duty towing, tow trucks near me
Top Trucks for Towing in 2024
Drawing from my experience on the road, here are the trucks I trust for various towing needs:
Ford F-350 Super Duty
The Ford F-350 Super Duty is a powerhouse when it comes to towing. With a maximum towing capacity of up to 37,000 lbs when properly equipped, it’s ideal for hauling heavy equipment and large trailers. I often rely on this truck for long hauls across Maryland, and its performance has never let me down.
Keywords: heavy-duty towing, towing and recovery
Ram 3500
The Ram 3500 combines impressive towing capabilities with a comfortable ride. Its high-torque engine is perfect for heavy-duty tasks. I recall a particular instance in Laurel, MD, where the Ram 3500’s winch system was invaluable in a winch-out situation, showcasing its reliability in challenging conditions.
Keywords: winch out near me, heavy-duty towing companies near me
Chevy Silverado 3500HD
The Chevy Silverado 3500HD is built to handle demanding towing tasks. Its robust engine and towing features make it a top choice for those who need reliability under pressure. I’ve chosen this truck over others for its consistent performance during heavy-duty towing jobs, especially when navigating through tight spots in urban areas.
Keywords: light-duty towing, flatbed towing prices
GMC Sierra HD
The GMC Sierra HD stands out with its advanced technology and driver-centric features. On long recovery jobs, the truck’s comfort and tech amenities make the experience more manageable. Its towing capabilities are top-notch, and the 24/7 towing service features have come in handy during unexpected recovery calls.
Keywords: towing recovery near me, 24/7 towing service
What Makes a Truck “Towing-Ready”?
When preparing for a towing job, several factors determine a truck’s readiness:
Engine & Torque: A powerful engine with ample torque ensures the truck can handle heavy loads without strain. Before heading out, I always assess the engine’s capacity to ensure it’s up to the task.
Suspension & Brakes: A robust suspension system maintains stability, while efficient brakes ensure safe stopping distances. Regular checks are essential to prevent issues during towing.
Tow Ratings: Understanding a truck’s tow rating is crucial. It indicates the maximum weight the vehicle can safely tow. At Ali Towing, we meticulously verify these ratings before dispatching any truck to ensure safety and compliance.

In the early days of Pro Stock racing, weight and engine size were crucial for success on the track. Bill Jenkins famously optimized performance by using a 331 cubic inch small block Chevy, featuring a small journal 327 crankshaft paired with bearing spacers in a 350 4-bolt main block. He chose 5.85-inch connecting rods—longer than the stock 5.70—while boring the block .030 oversize. This innovative setup allowed Jenkins to shed weight and maximize power in his Vega, leading to an incredible winning streak. His dominance in the sport even earned him the title of the highest-paid athlete of that year. Jenkins’ ingenuity and determination showcased how engineering can redefine racing performance, setting a benchmark for future competitors. His legacy continues to inspire today’s racers as they push the limits of technology and strategy in pursuit of victory.

Chevy Chevelle - Iconic Muscle Car of its Era
Tumblr media
One of the most versatile muscle cars of its era, the Chevy Chevelle first came off the production line in September 1963, introduced at a Chicago press conference. Built on an A-body platform, the Chevelle shared the same underlying frame as the Oldsmobile Cutlass, Pontiac Tempest, and Buick Skylark. Its niche was between the large Impala and compact Chevy II/Nova, and its nearest competitor at launch was the Ford Fairlane. The popular mid-size sold 338,286 units in its first year and remained in production until 1977.
Introduced as a 220-horsepower 283cid, the Chevelle was initially available as a two-door hardtop, the Sports Coupe, or a convertible. A smaller number of four-door sedans and two or four-door station wagon models also made it to showroom floors. One hallmark was that it returned the 115-inch wheelbase of 1955 to 1957 Chevys. This created a smooth ride that backseat passengers appreciated, making it a popular family vehicle. By the end of 1964, the Chevelle was available with a top-line 300 horsepower 327cid engine that solidified it in the performance category.
By 1965, Chevy offered a performance 350hp L79 engine on its Super Sport (SS) trim model. Innovations included vinyl bucket seats with a floor console, a four-gauge cluster, and an optional dash-mounted tachometer that measured revolutions per minute.
In 1965, Chevrolet upped the ante, introducing the Chevy Malibu SS 396 Z16. The Z16 replaced the small-block engine of previous SS models with a big-block V8 engine known as the 396 (or L37). This delivered a full-throated 375 horsepower and is seen by many as the start of the classic muscle car era. The Z16 is also one of the most sought-after models by vintage collectors, as only 201 of the new trim was manufactured in its inaugural year.
The popularity of the higher-performance Super Sport packages on the baseline Chevelle was such that in 1966, Chevrolet made SS its model, which featured a 396 engine and horsepower options between 325 and 375. This more limited version of the first-generation Chevelle, the SS396 series, lasted through 1968.
Spanning 1968 to 1972, the second generation of the Chevelle relegated Super Sport to an engine package again and represented a radical redesign of the vehicle. The 396 cubic inch, 375hp engine remained the top-of-line option. Aesthetically, the taillights were bigger, and the back of the vehicle was shorter and curvier. With a cut wheelbase, the second-generation Chevelle also featured a noticeably longer hood.
The 1970 Chevelle LS6 introduced the iconic twin racing-stripe front hood option, which is familiar from car chase scenes in movies and TV series of the era. Its taillights were bumper-mounted, and with a 450 horsepower 454 block, it had one of the most powerful engines of the era. The highly collected model only lasted a single year: already, United States regulations were on the horizon that would make better mileage vehicles a must, and in 1971, the vehicle returned to a small-block 350 engine.
The mid-1970s oil crisis and further fuel economy regulations stripped the Chevelle line of its power and luster. By 1977, the Chevrolet Chevelle and Malibu series had only 145 horsepower, a far cry from their muscle car heydays. The following year, the Chevelle was folded into the Malibu brand as Chevy streamlined operations.

The 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo debuted as Chevy’s personal luxury coupe—with muscle car DNA. Its long hood, crisp lines, and stately grille gave it elegance, but don’t be fooled: under that refined skin lurked serious power. With engine options ranging from a 350 small-block to the ferocious LS5 454 big-block V8, the Monte Carlo could back up its style with street cred. It was part luxury cruiser, part boulevard bruiser—a true gentleman’s muscle car.
