Minimum Wage Rage or How Gov. Gavin Newsom tried to exempt a Big Donor f...

It's time for another Truthnado!   

We're gonna start off with a Truthnado fact right off the bat.  Uh, according to a quick Google search,  the average age of a fast food worker in America is 35.  It's not just 16 year olds makin fast food weed money anymore. Average age is 35. 

Lawmakers in California realized this and thought, "You know,  fast food workers should make a decent living.  They should get 20 an hour" 

 NBC 4 NEWS: After years of protests, restaurant chains with more than 60 locations nationwide must now pay their California employees at least 20 an hour. It's one of the highest minimum wages in the country and the first time state lawmakers have mandated a minimum wage for just one industry. If a Company has more than 60 establishments nationwide.   

Uh, fast food people heard this. They're like, "Okay, if you're going to raise the minimum wage, $20, we're going to lay off a lot of people. We're going to raise prices. We're going to not open new places, move out of state. 

NBC 4 News: Supporters say it's time for the billion dollar corporations to pay a living wage. How's it going?  But many franchise owners, like Jessica D'Ambra, who runs 11 McDonald's around LA, say the law puts an unfair strain on their businesses already operating on slim margins. Do you feel targeted that it's specifically for fast food? 

Franchise Owner: Yes. And I think people just don't realize that. They see this big McDonald's brand and just think, oh, they've got all the money in the world. And it's just, that's not. at all how it is.   

Uh, lawmakers in California said,  "It'll be fine." So they raised the minimum wage to $20 an hour,  which is good for people who were able to keep their jobs. NBC NEWS 4: Mc Donalds, Chipotle and Starbucks all plan to raise prices to cover costs. Pizza Hut preemptively fired 1200 delivery drivers.  What's the point of the raise if you don't have a job anymore? 

The big, uh, fast food companies did exactly what they said they would. They raised prices, they laid a lot of people off, they shut some places down, and they're not opening more and they're moving out of state. Uh, now some of you may know I'm a Chicago guy, but my partner in this, uh, lives in L. A. and he can confirm that a Big Mac out in L.A. costs over $10 bucks. About three bucks more than it does in Chicago.   

So while, uh, it was a nice gesture to try to give people a living wage, um,  

The Truthnado is,  it hurt a lot of business. A lot of people lost their jobs

and you know, the, uh,  these fast food places, the corporations didn't shell out the money. These are franchise. So franchisee owners have to shell out the money.  Uh, and they may not have the biggest margins. 

But the governor is also facing backlash about Panera Bread and California's minimum wage law. NBC4 chief political reporter Conan Nolan asked him about it during a one on one interview. Conan joins us now live from our newsroom. Conan. First, the clock is ticking for the governor of California involving the state's new minimum wage law for fast food workers. Fast food workers.

That it's a friend of Gavin Newsom who doesn't have to pay the 20 an hour minimum wage. And it turns out, A, it's not true. He never talked to me about it. Period. Full stop. So it's an absurd story. 

He doesn’t have to talk to you about it. There were some discussions around bakeries and this and that, but in relationship to this story, it's absurd. It's a coincidence that the, uh, that this new, Minimum wage law did not impact a campaign contributor of yours. 

Newsom: It does impact.  Uh, the backup to that, so here's the problem, is that the law impacted just, uh, it, those who work for fast food restaurant chains. 

There was a provision in it that singled out those who make standalone bread products, bakery products, and that it appeared, according to Bloomberg News, who did a deep dive into it, to have helped the governor's friend, uh, a guy named Greg Floyd, who is a,  runs two dozen different Panera Bread restaurants in California.

Feel The Crunch

Happy Tuesday, everyone! If this were a F2F class, I’d say we should all go out to dinner. And what would we be eating, you ask? Tacos, right? It’s Taco Tuesday in all its alliterative coolness, so tacos we must eat.

It is actually very appropriate that we discuss today’s topic on Tuesday, whether you or I eat tacos. You see, Taco Bell (owned by Yum! Brands) is suing regional chain Taco John’s over use of the phrase “Taco Tuesday.”

Wait. You mean someone actually owns that phrase? I had no idea. But first some back story.

Taco Bell traces its origins to 1951 when Glen Bell created his own version of the crunchy taco. He had been an employee of Mitla Restaurant in San Bernardino California, and if you ever find yourself there, I highly recommend it. They are still open and have some of the finest Mexican food you can find. Prior to landing on the Taco Bell name—now you know it has everything to do with his last name, and nothing to do with metal orbs with a clapper swinging inside—Glen opened Bell’s Drive-In as well as Taco Tia in San Berdoo as they call it. It wasn’t until 1962 that he opened the first Taco Bell, in the familiar yet long gone mission-style building. He sold his first franchise in 1964, and the 100th in 1967.

He was off to the races, and went public in 1970 with 325 restaurants. In 1978, PepsiCo bought him out, and over time, Pepsi spun off its restaurant conglomerate, which also includes KFC and Pizza Hut, into Tricon, which then became Yum! Brands with an explanation point. There are now more than 7800 Taco Bells in the US alone.

Taco John’s also had humble beginnings, born first as a food trailer in 1968 by John Turner. And you thought food trailers were a 21C thing. Heck, we had hot dog trailers in Chicago dating back at least to the 1960s as well, so ponder that the next time you go to the food truck pavilion.

But I digress.

John started by serving tacos at Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming, and was an instant success. Although Taco John’s was popular, it was a David in comparison to the Goliath Taco Bell, with 380 locations today in 22 states.

But in 1989, Taco John’s trademarked the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” a phrase that Taco Bell argues has become generic and in such common usage as to render it expired in terms of intellectual property. Hence, Taco Bell’s lawsuit. Oh, and one other small wrinkle: Taco John’s trademarked it in 49 states, because someone else—Gregory Hotel—had trademarked it previously for use in New Jersey.

Now if you’re beginning to think that Taco Bell is a bit of a bully, you might just be right. Back on 16th May, Taco Bell announced its intentions to sue, and then last Friday, the 23rd of June, it actually filed the suit.

The suit makes it clear that Taco John’s, for all its marketing savvy in trademarking the phrase in the first place, did nothing to protect it, to show that it was part of its branding. While Taco John’s sued a small Minnesota taco chain last year, that was over stealing TJ’s image and likeness, unrelated to the phrase.

Meanwhile, people like me have seen Taco Tuesday promotions virtually everywhere. Interestingly, both Taco Bell and Taco John’s will likely engage in some basic marketing research to try to bolster their versions of the case. Taco Bell will try via a survey to demonstrate that people have long considered the phrase to be part of the vernacular, a celebration of Tuesdays and all things taco, while Taco John’s will do likewise to show that Taco Bell has been trying to incite trademark violation by encouraging others to use the phrase with reckless abandon.

If I had to guess—and this coming from a guy whop has written hundreds of surveys—Taco Bell has the easier job, because proving common usage is far easier than proving alleged illegal activities.

I feel badly for Taco John’s, a chain I see often in the northern Midwest and intermountain states. While I am not a big patron of fast food period, I credit them for coming up with a phrase that has become more popular than they ever could have imagined back in 1989.

But that’s the problem. It became too popular, too much larger than life itself, at least the life of its owner. Either Taco John’s chose not to protect its trademark, or once the cat was out of the bag, it was too hard to tame. Either way, Taco Bell’s case, in all its bullier-than-thou, will probably prevail.

The bigger takeaway, and not just a bag of tacos, is that if you are in business and have taken the time and money to trademark something, you better protect it no matter what. Because there’s probably another Taco Bell, for better or for worse, waiting in the wings to seize it.

Y/n woke up with Jay’s arm around her waist. She mentally face palmed herself, she wasn’t supposed to stay, not ever, especially not after last night.

She carefully picked up his hand and removed it from around her and started collecting her clothes from the ground.

Before leaving, she looked back at him and took a deep breath. How could they be so stupid? This would never work, they were both heartbroken when it all started and that was the excuse they used to justify their little arrangement but now, one year later, they were still falling in each other's arms and none of them talked about it.

She quickly got dressed in the living room and left his house without enough time to make it home.

“Good morning Y/n,”

“Morning Hails,” she greeted her with a smile.

“Y/n…” she looked her up and down with disappointment written all over her face.

She thought for a split second that lying to Hailey would be the best option, but she knew everything. She had been there when it all started and she had warned them both that it was a bad idea, but they didn’t listen and did it anyway and soon the laughs between the two of them ceased and the longing stares started.

“Not now Hailey, please, I promise I will talk to you later,”

“It’s not with me you have to talk to… Just promise me you guys will talk later,”

“We are grown up Hailey, we know what we are doing,”

“Do you?”

Y/n quietly walked to the break room, leaving Hailey behind her, ready to make herself some coffee.

“Hi,” she smile entering the room and taking the cup from his hand, “Thank you,”

“You could have woke me up,” he took a small sip from his coffee, “We had to talk,”

“Jay…” she lost the smile and looked him straight in the eyes.

“After last night,” he looked around, checking if anyone was making their way into the room, “after everything we said, I thought we would have a talk this morning,” he stared right at her.

“And we will,” she put down her coffee and grabbed his free hand, “I just didn’t want to do it before work, it didn’t felt right,”

“Fine, then we will talk tonight,” he said leaning closer.

“Tonight,” she confirmed, quickly pecking him on the lips and forcing a smile while walking out of the room.

Y/n arrived at her desk and leaned her head into her hands. She really didn’t want to have that conversation, hell she preferred to go back to the time where she had to admit in front of her parents that she wasn’t a virgin anymore.

At the beginning she loved that they could have sex without that interfiring with their work and their relationships with others, but now that had changed, things where getting mixed up and it couldn’t stay that way anymore.

She believes that she is dreading this conversation the most because she already knows the outcome that it will have: the thing they have will end for good, and that is killing her because in the past year she has gained new feelings for the detective that weren’t there before.

“Come on guys, we have a case,” Hank called, walking out of his office and stopping the thoughts running in Y/n’s head.

“Do you want anything?” Jay asked as they entered his apartment after a long day at work.

“No, I’m just going to take a shower,” she took off her boots and put them next to his.

“Okay,” 

After Y/n closed the door of the bathroom, Jay just sat on the sofa looking at the wall and running his hands through his hair. He was scared of the outcome of their conversation and he knew that Y/n felt the same way about it so he had to keep it cool, for her.

Their last relationships didn’t end well, they both got hurt in the end and the fact that the other was there for them meant everything and they couldn’t lose each other.

He got up and called the pizza place so they could have something to eat when they were done.

“Hey,” Y/n said as she leaned against the doorframe.

“I like the shirt,” he looked at her, smirking, and earning a little chuckle in return “Come here,”

Y/n walked straight into his open arms resting her head on the crock of his neck and wrapping her arms around his torso while his were around her waist and his head on top of hers.

“I’m scared Jay,”

“Hey,” he took her face in between his hands making her look at him “why are you scared?” he asked although he already knew the answer.

“Because this conversation can only end in us going our separate ways,”

“Babe, why are you saying that?” he looked at every single spot on her face like she was a map he needed to trace.

“It always ends this way, they want something casual and when the time to have the so called conversation they run, why would this time be any different ?” she said looking him straight in the eyes, usually she could read them like they were her own but right now they looked numb, without expression “please say something,” she begged, already regretting her own words.

Instead of attending her request he leaned in and kissed her with all the passion he had inside of him. Y/n was stunned at first but quickly responded to the kiss with the same amount of passion.

“This,” he pointed between the two of them “even if we haven’t labeled it, is what I want and I am not going to let you walk away from me, neither I’m going to break your heart,”

She slightly shaked her head, “You can’t promise that,”

“But I can promise that I will do everything in my power to not break it. I know we didn’t start in the usual way but I want to make this work, I want to make us work,”

Y/n smiled at him and then leaned in to kiss him one more time. 

The next morning Jay woke up with Y/n still at his side, which made him smile, he leaned in and lightly kissed her shoulder and made his way out of bed to make them some breakfast.

With the coffee in one hand and the plate with the toasts in another he walked into the bedroom to see her still asleep. He put the things on the nightstand and got into bed again.

He gently rolled her onto her back so he could see her face. Then he started his trail of kisses, he started by kissing her forehead, then her check, the side of her mouth and then fully on the lips. Y/n that woke up the moment he left the bed corresponded with the kiss.

“Good morning,”  Jay said looking lovingly at her.

“Morning,” she leaned into him.

“I made us coffee,”

With that Y/n unwrapped herself from him and sitted down on the bed. Jay handed her the cup on the toasts. It felt good, them both in bed together, it felt like home.

“Come on, I still need to go home change,”

Jay and Y/n arrived at the office at the same time and he was carrying her bag which made Hailey smirk getting a smile from Y/n in return but before she could say anything Voight walked in with a case.

“Listen up, we have a drug cartel that is trying to move it’s location here to Chicago in a month, we need to find their plans and stop it, and before you start asking why we are taking this case and not narcotics, they are kidnaping kids so they can sell for them, and this morning they kidnapped a little girl,” upon saying this words, Voight looked at the spot where Y/n and Jay stood.

Jay gently laid his hand on the small of her back and slightly brought her closer to him, everyone knew that the cases with kids hitted her hard.

“If you want to skip this one I can talk to Voight,” he whispered quietly into her ear trying not to call anyones attention.

“No, I’m fine,” she said, but he could see through the facade.

“Break room in five,” he would not take her word for it, he had seen her say that she is fine too many times to know when she is lying to him and herself.

“Jay, I told you I’m fine,” she said as she entered the break room.

“I know,” he stepped closer to her, “but I also know that this cases give you nightmares, so you are staying with me until it’s over,”

Before she could protest he sealed their lips together in a quick kiss.

“It’s not up for discussion, we will be going to your place tonight to get some clothes for you,”

A couple of hours went by and they were all sitting at their desks trying to find something in their computers, none of them could come up with anything and it was driving them insane.

“Y/n, my office,” Voight said as he made his way upstairs and walked the small distance to his office.

She quickly followed him and entered his office following his footsteps.

“Sit down,” he gestured to the chair in front of him “How are you?”

“Hank, I’m fine really,”

“We both know that if you aren’t fine you are not going to tell any of us, just know that if you need anything I will be here kid okay?”

“I know,” she said with a small smile making its way onto her lips.

She knew this team was really her second family and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

It had been three weeks, three weeks of them working effortlessly on the case and hitting walls and more walls, three weeks of Y/n barely sleeping.

Jay tried getting her to bed and when she did, she either couldn’t sleep, had nightmares or was too nauseous. 

“Jay, I’m fine,” Y/n insisted although her face said otherwise.

“No, you’re not. I’m worried about you,” he sat in front of her on the table.

“I promise I will go to the doctor when the case is over, but it’s probably just stress,” she grabbed his hand trying to reassure him.

They had had this type of conversation and others along the same lines a lot in the past two weeks since Y/n had started feeling sick.

Right now Jay was in bed and when he rolled onto Y/n’s side he noticed she wasn’t there so he got up and went looking for her in the apartment.

He didn’t need to go very far because she was seated in the dining room looking at some files.

“Babe,”he pulled a chair and sat beside her.

“I know,” she laid down the papers “I just need to look at this,”

“The papers will still be here tomorrow,”

“Three kids have been kidnapped, Jay, three,” she laid her head in her arms.

Jay just rubbed her back. He knew that the best he could do for her at the moment was be there for her.

He got up and put his hands on her hips.

“Come on, let’s go to bed,”

“Jay,”

“Shhhh,”he pressed a kiss to her temple and started guiding her to bed.

They both laid down on the bed and Jay pulled her into his chest and kissed her head.

“Thank you,” she snuggled closer to him.

“Remember what I said, I will be here no matter what and that means having to drag you to bed when we have a hard case or just holding when you are having a bad day,”

“I know,” she rested her chin on his chest looking up at him “and I’m here for you too, remember it,”

He ran his hand that wasn’t holding her against him through her hair as she leaned to press a gentle kiss to his lips after going back to her original position snuggled to his side.

“Guys we have something,” Jay called as he stood behind Y/n.

Everyone got in front of Y/n’s desk hoping for something that would finally crack this case.

As Y/n explained to the rest of the team what they had found, Jay laid a hand on her shoulder. She might look like she was fine for everyone else, but he could see the mask that she was wearing.

Y/n looked up at Jay and sent a little smile his way.

“Okay, everyone, this new evidence are enough for a warrant, good job L/n, Halstead,”

“Thank you boss,”

“No one moves until we have the paper in our hands, clear?” everyone nodded and went to do their own thing while Voight called the judge for that warrant.

“Hey,” Hailey said as she followed Y/n into the locker room and sat next to her on the bench.

“Hi,” Y/n said back looking up at her.

“So, I see that conversation went well,”

“Yeah, way better that I expected it,” she said with a little smile 

“I told you so,” Hailey said, slightly hitting Y/n in the arm.

“Hey, stop hitting me,” 

The conversation was good but it was soon interrupted by Jay telling them that they had the warrant.

The whole team went down to the basement to get their vests on and get ready to go to the place they believed the kids were at.

“Let me,” Jay came up behind Y/n to help her with her vest.

“Thank you,” she turned around with a smile.

“Just promise be you are going to be safe,” 

“I will try, and you be safe too,”

They did their little pinky touch that they have been doing since Y/n first joined the unit and was partnered up with Jay, everyone, even Voight although he would never admit it, found it adorable and knew it was a way of them promising each other what they couldn’t put into words.

Everyone got into their respective cars and left for the warehouse.

After rescuing the kids and giving them to their parents they all went back to the district.

“So,” Jay walked to Y/n’s locker “ready to go?”

“Actually,” she said, closing the locker “I have an appointment, I scheduled while we were at the hospital with the kids,”

“Oh, good, do you want to go with you?”

“No, thanks,”

“Just call me when you’re done, okay, and if you want I will pick you up,” Y/n nodded, they shared a quick kiss and then Jay turned on his step and walked out.

Since the distance to MED wasn’t that big, Y/n decided to walk there instead of calling a cab.

“Y/n, what are you doing here?” Connor asked when he saw her enter the hospital.

“I have an appointment,”

“Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, don’t worry, see you later,”

“See you,” he gave her a quick hug before going their separate ways.

Y/n went into the waiting room and there she started getting a little bit nervous, the kind of nervous you get everytime you go to an appointment, nothing special. She just wanted to know what was going on with her and appease Jay’s nerves.

“Y/n L/n,” a nurse called.

Y/n got up and followed her to the room where the doctor was waiting for her.

“Miss L/n, come on in, sit down,” the doctor said, reaching her hand so that Y/n could shake it and then she looked at her papers “so you are feeling nauseous in the last few weeks, right?”

“Yeah, I really think is just stress, you know being a detective and all, but my partner thinks is something more serious,”

“I agree it might only be stress, but let’s make some labs to check everything,”

“Sure,” 

“Have you been sexually active lately?”

Y/n’s face paled with the possibility that hadn’t gone through her head yet. They had always been careful, right? There was no way that she could be pregnant. 

“Miss L/n?” the doctor called, pulling her out of her daydreaming.

“Sorry, yes I have,”

“A nurse will be here shortly to collect your blood and then you can wait here while the results are not back and I will met you when I have them,”

The doctor left Y/n alone and her thoughts just came running back to her head. Should she call Jay and tell him to meet her there? No, that was a bad idea and it could be nothing.

Her thoughts were interrupted when a nurse she had seen a couple times in the ED.

“Okay, we’re all done, Miss L/n, have a good day,” she said as she finished and walked out without giving Y/n a change to say something back.

She picked up her phone and dialed Hailey’s number, she needed to talk to someone and she was her best bet.

“Hello,” Hailey said as she picked up the phone.

“Hi Hails,”

“Is everything okay?”

“You remember that I told you that I was feeling sick and that Jay was pushing me to go to the doctor?”

“Yes,” she said without really understanding where Y/n was coming from.

“The doctor thinks I’m pregnant,” Y/n let out in one breath.

“What?”

“Yes, she said it could only be stress but then she asked about my sexual activity and a person doesn’t ask that when they don’t think pregnancy is a possibility,”

“Y/n, I need you to take a deep breath for me sweety,”

Hailey started trying to smooth Y/n from the other side of the phone, she had done it before but never on the phone, only in person. Making her take deep breaths and guiding her breathing was what usually did the trick.

“Are you better?”

“Yeah, thank you,”

“Have you told Jay?”

“No, I’m going to talk to him when I know what’s going on after the doctor sees the labs,”

“Ok, let’s get your mind out of it for a bit, while the doctor is not there,” 

The two girls stayed on the phone until the doctor walked into the room and they said their goodbyes promising to talk later.

“So Miss L/n, I believe congratulations are in order,” the doctor said, turning the labs to Y/n and pointing at the numbers that gave her the results.

“Oh,” Y/n said, nothing else coming to her mind.

The doctor talked a little bit more about prenatal vitamins and all things related to pregnancy.

“I’m going to schedule you an appointment for next week and then we can talk more about this after you have a little time to think about this,” she said after she noticed that Y/n was way too distracted to have that talk at the moment.

“Thank you,” she didn’t really listen to half of the things she said.

Y/n walked out of the office, pulled out her phone and sent two quick texts. The first to Hailey telling her that she was indeed pregnant and that she was going to tell Jay today, and the next to Jay to tell him that she was ready and we could come pick her up. Both of them answer her really fast.

Y/n just sat on the bench close to the door of the hospital waiting for Jay. It was a lot, they had just talked about their relationship, but it was all really new and they hadn’t put labels to it yet.

“Hey,” he parked close to her.

Y/n got up, opened the trunk door and walked in without saying a word and not looking at Jay.

“Hey,” he gently grabbed her cheek, turning her face to him “is everything okay?” his green eyes plastered with worry.

Y/n reached over and ran her thumb across his cheek to calm him down.

“I’m fine, just drive and we will talk at home,”

They stood in that position a little bit longer before Jay turned to the steering wheel.

“Yours or mine?”

“Yours,”

When they entered the apartment the exhaustion of the last couple of weeks took over them and they just sat on the couch with Y/n snuggling into his side with one hand across his torso and Jay struck her hair softly. After a couple of minutes he pressed a kiss to her temple before talking.

“You can talk, when you want,”

“I just don’t know how you are going to react to it,” Y/n said after taking a deep breath.

“Don’t worry,” he pressed another kiss to her temple “I will be here no matter what,”

Y/n knew that if she was going to tell him tonight it had to be now. She pulled away from him, which in return made him stare at her, and sat looking at him, she leaned forward and grabbed his hands in hers, making him turn to her so they were face to face.

“I’m pregnant,” she said quickly, looking Jay in the eye.

Jay just stood there looking at her and Y/n could see every single emotion running through his eyes.

“You’re pregnant,” he didn’t ask, it was more of a way of settling the idea in his head.

“Yeah,” all that Jay did at that moment was pull Y/n into a hug and they both stayed like that for a second.

When they pulled away he leaned in and gave her a kiss on the forehead and then pulled into his chest and leaned back into the couch.

“I know we never talked about this, hell we barely talked about our relationship,” that last comment made her look up at him with a little smile on her face “but I’m going to be there, I’m not going to let you do this alone,” he then looked in Y/n’s eyes “I mean if you want to keep the baby,”

“So, we’re having a baby?” Y/n said, biting her lower lip and smiling at the same time.

“We’re having a baby,” Jay leaned in and captured her lips gently.

“Voight is going to kill us,” Y/n said between kisses.

“Babe, don’t kill the celebration mood,” he picked her up and carried her to his bedroom while she giggled in his arms.

“So, I have the first appointment next Monday,” she looked at the calendar while they had breakfast.

Jay took a sip of his coffee before turning his full attention to her “At what time?”

“4 pm,”

“We are going to need to leave work earlier,”

Y/n turned to him expecting him to continue “So that means we need to tell Voight,”

“Oh shit,” Jay said while dropping his head against the counter.

Y/n chuckled and walked towards him placing her hands on his shoulders “It’s not going to be that bad,”

“For you,” he said looking up “You are like a daughter to him, he’s going to want my head delivered to him for dinner,”

“Babe, you’re exaggerating,”

“We will see after we talk to him,” he pulled her towards him by the hips making her stand between his legs.

Y/n gently ran her hands through his hair and down his neck and leaned in to give him a kiss. Jay took the opportunity to push her closer to him which made her pull back.

“No,no,”

“Babe, come on,” he rubbed her hips and kissed her neck.

“Don’t babe me right now,” she pulled back once more and grabbed his face in between her hands “we need to get to work on time,”

“Fine,” he got up, but quickly stopped turning back to her.

“What?”

“Are you better from the sickness?”

“Yeah,” she picked up something from her pocket “this mint things make wonders,”

Jay eyed the package on her hand and made a mental note to pick up more when they left work.

They both picked up their jackets, Jay helping her put hers on, grabbed their stuff and left for another day at work.

It was a really slow day at the office, just filling up paperwork from the previous case and chatting with one another, they were finally having a normal day after those crazy weeks.

“I think we should tell him today,” Y/n said as she followed Jay to the break room.

“Are you sure?”

“We have time today,”

Jay only nodded, finished what he was doing, walked up to her and grabbed her hand as they walked out of the break room and straight into Hank’s office.

“What do you want?” he asked, looking at both of them with a crooked eyebrow.

Hank already knew what was going on, we wasn’t dumb. Y/n had been giving the signs for weeks, he just wanted to hear it from their mouths so he could finally congratulate them.

“So…I’m pregnant,” Y/n just blurted it out, making Jay look at her with hide eyes.

Hank looked at both of them and just got up and pulled them into a hug.

“Congratulations kiddos,”

“So here is your baby,” the technician said as a little bubble showed up on the screen.

Y/n and Jay just looked amazed at the little sweet creature they had created together as tears rolled down their eyes. Y/n looked up at Jay, more tears falling from her eyes as he mumbled more to himself.

“I’m so proud to be your father,”

I’m fucking in love with this one, I just want to write more with these two.
