Tanith: Violence BEAR HUG (and random headlocks and chokeholds)

Fletcher: 'Wanna go to Australia?'

* When you train in martial arts, friends you make along that journey will alllways show affection via random locks or attacks. If that doesnt happen, you're not martial arting correctly. So they all do that to each other, esp Tanith and Val :]

In my China outfits we have Miss Sorrows the librarian and information collector,

Then my personal head canon of ranch mistress Sorrows, but come on let’s be honest, she has a collection of cowgirl boots. It’s canon (stares at DL) it’s canon.

Finally, we have China days after Skulduggery’s execution and burning.

She spent almost a week locked away before she was finally able to compose herself, of course she had come down with an awful stomach bug that was heavily contagious thus it was very unwise to risk seeing her as a servant to apply her makeup and hairdos, or even as a healer, she would simply have to figure out those cursed healing sigils. Even whilst she hadn’t eaten any food in 72 hours her retching (and wailing) continued and caused severe petechiae around her eyes.

She would simply stay put in her chambers, and if her servants risked a glance they might see her stood at her window, fixated on a field, where those executions had taken place all those days before.

And then the good news came: Dear darling Skulduggery lives!

A phenomenal return, he strode back a what… a living skeleton?

I love China, I truly do, but I don’t trust her and while her love for Skulduggery is endearing it’s eventually led to obsession, competition with his wife and, ultimately, his gruesome torture and death.

That being said, I’d bet she really didn’t want him dead. His wife on the other hand… it’s fair play I guess.

She bumps country music btw, no you can’t convince me otherwise.

When Did I Start Shipping Them? Oh, it's hard to say! I always knew they had chemistry but I wasn't a multishipper when I first got into this fandom, which was my first fandom I ever actually participated in. I reread the books in grade 12 and again in 2019, and both times I was like 'holy shit China should have the whole world' and that means Skulduggery I think.

Why Do I Ship Them? They're both terrible. It's a great match. They're both so loved and hated by their community in equal measure. They're literally the detective/femme fatale archetype and they CHOSE that aesthetic after several centuries of knowing each other and I think that says a lot about both of them.

Favourite Fanfiction Tropes/Staples? I was going to say there's not many fics for them but apparently like forty have been written in the last five years (before that there were only 19 on ao3) so I guess I'll have to get back to you once I read those, I hadn't checked since my last reread of the series!!!
