New theory:

Crepuscular is the Child of the Ancients.

So I’ve been rereading Dead or Alive and basically, Cadaver says that they put all their hope in the Child of the Ancients and that they had so much power.

We know Crepuscular is ridiculously powerful, especially when he merges with his siblings so he could be the powerful man that Cadaver describes.

I’ve said in a previous theory that it made sense that Solace was the Child of the Ancients and the irony of it being someone from China’s bloodline due to her family’s legacy of devotion to the Faceless Ones.

And now, it also makes sense as to why they punished China so severely, why they never freed her until she’d been completely broken.

This will probably be proven false but I don’t know, it could be accurate.

Ok is anyone else really curious about how Malice broke China?

Like, that woman survived months of Creed torturing her, and yet somehow they broke her in Dead or Alive in the alternate future.

I get the whole not being able to read or learn thing was probably what tipped her over the edge, but they must have brought her pretty low to completely break her, make her that submissive.
