Possible Flintstones Reboot

Good evening everybody. As of recently, I had begun reminiscing about the Flintstones. More specifically, the grand finale movie: Hollyrock-a-bye Baby. I bought off of Amazon and watched it from start to finish. Needless to say, I loved every minute of it. The point I'm trying to get at is: what ever happened to the new Rubble family after that? More specifically: Chip and Roxy Rubble?

If there was ever a time to launch a reboot, it would be now. So my idea for a reboot would a Flintstones series centered around Chip and Roxy Rubble with their parents Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as supporting characters. It would be in a manner similar to the Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm Show from back in the 70's with just a hint of Flintstones Kids & Regular Show mixed in for good measure. Maybe even feature a callback to the original Flintstone/Rubble gang who've probably long since passed away by now; especially Pearl Slaghoople.

The first half of the season or so could feature the kids growing up in a prehistoric version of the 90's since that's when they were born and the other half would feature them as teens/young adults leading up to the present day. Who knows, maybe they'll start families of their own. It would put them in the same positions their parents were in at the movie's end; life really is a cycle people.

I mean Supernatural had 15 seasons; so surely this show would be worthy of such a feat. It would be interesting to see how the new Rubble family's life is like post Hollyrock-a-bye Baby. Not to mention see Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as senior citizens, given that the former's 61st birthday was a couple months ago this year.

I get that Warner Brothers wanted to do something similar to this back in the day, but scrapped it for whatever reason. I kinda get it: life's a never-ending cycle and this had to stop somewhere. Even so, now seems as good a time as ever to launch a series about the next generation of Flintstones/Rubbles. If not, it would make a great idea for a fanfic series if anyone else is willing to take that on.

As I've stated before with my last post regarding the modern stone-age family, The Flintstones was Hanna-Barbera's prehistoric representation of life; from its symbolic start to its triumphant end. As such, this possible reboot should be given the respect and love its predecessor had back in its prime.

chapter 3

“Harry Hart was a handsome man in his fifties, and he wore the Kingsman suit as if it were a second skin.”

[I mean… I agree, but… What the hell, Eggsy?]

new Arthur’s name was Augustin Edmonds; he was in his sixties

”… seated at the grand dining table were Merlin, Roxy and the new Arthur.”

[But Merlin wasn’t sitting at the table neither in KTTS nor in the movie version of KTGC, right?]

“’I wish,’ he [Eggsy] said, slipping into the seat next to Roxy.”

[In the movie he has a place opposite Roxy.]

“’Can we see that again?’ Eggsy asked.

Merlin gave him a look, but he tapped his tablet, and everyone watched the scene [at Valentine’s where Eggsy electrocutes Charlie and punches him in his face]  play out once more.”

“’Fuck me,’ he [Eggsy] said under his breath.

‘Oh I will,’ Tilde aid softly. ‘Later. Maybe in the throne room.’“

[I ship it. Honestly. Maybe it’s cause I’m not Hartwin shipper.]

Roxy was in her house, not in the HQ, when the missiles hit

“A wooden desk, a closed laptop resting on the surface, a couple of pens, a clamp-on desk lamp, two framed photos: one of Eggsy and Tilde laughing on a beach, and one of an older guy in a suit whom Brandon didn’t recognize.”

“Merlin nodded. No one on earth could’ve gotten to Harry faster than Ginger and Tequila - and no one else would’ve had the technology to save him. He knew that, and he was grateful for what they’d done. A miracle had happened today: he’d found out that his old friend was alive! But then he’d learned that only part of Harry had come back, and there was strong possibility that the remainder was lost forever.”

Angel is killed by Charlie (he snaps his neck); before that his feet get eaten by piranhas

[In the movie he was torn in half by Bennie and Jet.]

"’Harry?’ Merlin said. ‘Do you remember me?’

Harry looked at Merlin for a moment, his one eye narrowing. Merlin allowed himself a moment of hope, but then Harry dashed it.

‘Very sorry, old chap,’ he said. ‘I don’t think we’ve met.’“

"’Harry, I’m Merlin. We were colleagues. Friends. You had a brain injury.’

Harry smiled vacantly. ‘Well that explains my headache. But otherwise, I’m quite fine, I assure you. As Mother always said, nothing should be perfect or one won’t apprecite it.’ He paused, then tilted his head to the side, curious. ‘Are you a lepidopterist?’

Merlin tried not to let the disappointment he felt show in his voice. ‘No, I’m sorry.’

‘Oh, you said we worked together. I assumed you were going to take me away from this awful place.’ He gave Ginger a scrowl, as if he blamed her personally for keeping him here.

‘Soon, Harry,’ Merlin said. ‘We’ll bring you back soon. I promise.’

Merlin prayed it was a promise he’d be capable of fulfilling.”

Agent Whiskey liked to call himself Jack Daniels

[Or was it his real name?]

“Merlin wasn’t certain he could put Harry - this Harry, the mild-mannered lepidopterist - through what was coming. He wondered what his Harry would say abou this test if Merlin could somehow ask him. Would he agree to it? There was no way to know, so in the end Merlinmerely nodded and hoped he wasn’t making the wrong decision.”

“Come on, Harry, Merlin thought. I know you’re in there somewhere.”

“Merlin couldn’t take this anymore. ‘Get him out. Now.’”

“Merlin forced himself to watch for several more seconds, but as Harry’s exertions began to lessen, Merlin knew that his frind was drowning. He reached past Ginger and slammed the abort button on the wall panel.”

“Merlin took hold of Harry’s arm and gently helped him onto his feet.”

“Merlin and Ginger rushed into the cell, and Merlin knelt next to Harry.

‘Harry! Are you okay?’ he said.”

Tilde told her parents Eggsy lost his friend in the London bombings - his outburst at the dinner was excused

“Harry turned to Merlin, a pleading look in his eye. ‘You said you were my friend! Why aren’t you helping me?’

This was just another version of the flooded room scenario. But Harry wasn’t a damn guinea pig, and this wasn’t a lab test. This was torture.

‘Enough.’ Merlin removed a large pocket-knife from his trousers and ran towards Harry’s feet. He pulled out the bade - which he kept sharp at all times - and quickly sawed through the rope wrapped around Harry’s ankles.”

Ginger and Merlin bonding over John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home, Coutry Roads’ and singing together were cute, yet I’m not a fan of the romance between them

"’I’ve got to help him,’ Merlin said.

‘Wait, wait…’ Ginger said.

But Merlin couldn’t stand by and watch his friend suffer any longer. He vaulted over the barrier and into the arena. He waved his arms, trying to get the bull’s attention.”

the whole part with Merlin and Harry in the giftshop is heartbreaking

“Merlin walked over to Harry. The man still lay on his back, but his eye was open.

‘Harry, I think you and I deserve a drink. Don’t you? Come on.’

He helped Harry to stand and together they walked out of the paddock.

chapter 10

Whiskey regained his memory thanks to the test with bull

[The same Harry went through]

“Merlin pulled the curtain back to reveal fresh Kingsman suits. Three of them. Merlin removed one of the suits and held it up to him.

‘May I…?’ he asked, almost shyly.

Eggsy and Harry exchanged looks.

‘Absolutely,’ Harry said.”

‘Merlin, you’re with me.’

[It’s said by Harry both in the movie and the book.]

"’Merlin, no… please.’ He [Eggsy] turned to Harry, hoping his mentor would think of some miraculous last-minute method of saving Merlin’s life. But the sorrow in Harry’s one eye, along with the grim expression on his face, told Eggsy that Harry had no tricks left up his immaculately tailored sleeve.”

“Merlin removed a can of Kingsman deodorant from his briefcase, and then looked at Harry.

‘Get clear,’ he said.

Harry moved a safe distance away while Merlin sprayed the ground around Eggsy’s feet.”

"’Go on, now,’ he [Merlin] said. ‘Make me proud.’”

Harry says goodbye to Merlin the same way as in the movie

“Eggsy gave his friend one last nod before turning and hurrying after Harry, sweeping the Statesman bat back and forth ahead of him. He didn’t bother trying to stop the tears this time.”

Sir Elton didn’t appear in front of Harry in the bowling alley, he threw himself atop of Harry

“Too bad Merlin couldn’t have seen these machines, Harry thought. He’d have found them fascinating.”

"’Not trying to top you or anything,’ Harry said, ‘but I just met Elton John.’”

back at the Statesman destillery they drank a toast to Merlin before appointing Ginger the new Whiskey

"’Put alpha gel on that, dickhead,’ Eggsy said, and turned to Harry. ‘I’m so ashamed I didn’t believe you,’ he said. ‘I even saved his life…’

‘A Kingsman takes a life only when he believes it justified,’ Harry said, smiling. ‘And you, Eggsy, are a true Kingsman.’“
