A corona discharge is generated between each of the electrodes, which ionizes air molecules to produce a negative electric field. The particles are then ionized by the electric field and migrate to an oppositely charged collection surface, which is usually a plate or tube.

Scrubbers are cleaning installations in which a gas stream is brought into intensive contact with a liquid. The aim of this emission control technique is to remove certain components from the gas into the liquid.

In most types of scrubbers the gaseous components are dissolved in the liquid phase, which is often water (wet scrubber). The degree to which these substances can be converted depends on solubility in the fluid and on temperature.

The scrubbing liquid is a mixture of chemicals and micro-organisms which, when combined with the absorbed components, convert them into solutions. Thermal oxide silicon wafers (SiO2) for use as semiconductor and dielectric material in MEMS devices

Thermal oxide silicon wafer or SiO2 wafer contains a silicon oxide layer which is formed on a bare silicon wafer surface at elevated temperature in an oxidant’s presence through thermal oxidation process. Thermal oxidation is obtained by exposing silicon wafer to a combination of oxidizing agents and heat to make a layer of silicon oxide or SiO2. The layer is most commonly made with hydrogen and/or oxygen gas, although other halogens can be used for this purpose. Remember back on April 23, 2020, when Donald Trump went on national television and suggested that bleach would be a great cure for the coronavirus?

"I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that."

Trump later claimed that he was being sarcastic, specifically to trick the "fake news media" into reporting, well, exactly what he'd said. Great "trick." But anyway, did you ever wonder where he got such a ridiculous idea? Well, it may have been a letter sent to him a few days earlier from Mark Grenon, the head of a so-called "nonreligious church" in Florida, touting the benefits of ingesting chlorine bleach as a "miracle cure":

"Grenon styles himself as 'archbishop' of Genesis II – a Florida-based outfit that claims to be a church but which in fact is the largest producer and distributor of chlorine dioxide bleach as a 'miracle cure' in the US. He brands the chemical as MMS, 'miracle mineral solution', and claims fraudulently that it can cure 99% of all illnesses including cancer, malaria, HIV/Aids as well as autism. Since the start of the pandemic, Genesis II has been marketing MMS as a cure to coronavirus. It advises users, including children, to mix three to six drops of bleach in water and drink it."

The FDA formally announced that claims calling MMS a "miracle cure" are false, and got a federal judge to issue an order prohibiting Grenon and his "church" from selling MMS. In response, Grenon defiantly wrote the FDA that there "will be NO corrective actions on our part … You have no authority over us! … Never going to happen." Unsurprising, given that Grenon was raking in around $120,000 per month peddling his fraudulent cure-all.

The U.S. Department of Justice ultimately charged Grenon with "conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to violate the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and criminal contempt." His miracle cure "is alleged to have caused [the] death of 7 US citizens." He was arrested in Colombia for extradition to the United States.

Unfortunately, Grenon was far from the only quack pushing MMS. Meet Andreas Kalcker, who claims to be "Chief research at Swiss Center for Scientific Research, Innovation and Development." No such organization exists, and Kalcker is not registered in Switzerland as a medical professional of any kind. It appears that he bought a fake certificate online to pass himself off as an expert.

"Kalcker, alongside several Argentinian nationals, is accused by authorities of playing a key role in promoting chlorine dioxide in the country as a cure for various illnesses, including COVID-19, in conferences, books, and on social media. ...

"Chlorine dioxide is a type of industrial bleaching agent commonly used to treat wood products. Public health authorities around the world have issued warnings about taking the substance, with the US Food and Drugs Administration warning that it can be fatal if taken in large doses.

In recent years, a movement originating in a fake Florida 'church' has promoted the substance it calls 'Miracle Mineral Solution' (MMS), or 'Chlorine Dioxide Solution' (CDS), as a cure for a range of illnesses and condition. ...

"In Bolivia, the misinformation campaign led by Kalcker succeeded in persuading the government to legitimize chlorine dioxide as a COVID-19 treatment despite the absence of any evidence that it is safe or effective as a medical treatment."

In Argentina, the parents of a five-year-old boy believed Kalcker's misinformation and gave him MMS to protect him against COVID-19. The boy died of chlorine dioxide poisoning. Kalcker has now been arrested and charged with "illegal practice of the medical profession and selling fake medicines."

The leader of the most prominent group in the US peddling potentially lethal industrial bleach as a “miracle cure” for coronavirus wrote to Donald Trump at the White House this week.

In his letter, Mark Grenon told Trump that chlorine dioxide – a powerful bleach used in industrial processes such as textile manufacturing that can have fatal side-effects when drunk – is “a wonderful detox that can kill 99% of the pathogens in the body”. He added that it “can rid the body of Covid-19”.

A few days after Grenon dispatched his letter, Trump went on national TV at his daily coronavirus briefing at the White House on Thursday and promoted the idea that disinfectant could be used as a treatment for the virus. To the astonishment of medical experts, the US president said that disinfectant “knocks it out in a minute. One minute!”

He went on to say: “Is there a way we can do something, by an injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”

Trump did not specify where the idea of using disinfectant as a possible remedy for Covid-19 came from, and the source for his notion remains obscure. But the Guardian has learned that peddlers of chlorine dioxide – industrial bleach – have been making direct approaches to the White House in recent days.

In 1996, Jim Humble, a former scientologist,  claimed to discover MMS while mining for gold in the jungles of South America. He claimed that it cured malaria (this is not true). After some time, he invited a missionary group to Africa where he experiments with MMs on the locals there. Hex poisoned over 5,000 people there. He also claims he is a G-d from the Andromeda galaxy. "And then I asked to be put in the part of the space navy that watched over the Earth," Humble said. In 2010 Jim Humble and Mark Grenon founded the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing. The both of them are self styled Archbishops of their made up church. They did this so they could distribute MMS more easily. They needed to found a church because the mainstream medical community relies on fact and not anecdotal evidence. He lists MMS as a religious sacrament so it is harder to prosecute. He even said that it has nothing to do with religion. He co-founded the Genesis 2 church to "legalize the use of MMS" and avoid getting caught. Their main idea is that chlorine dioxide can kill pathogens in the body that causes illnesses. They say it should be ingested every day to maintain health. They set up shop in Bradenton, Florida out of their home. It is not an actual church. They say that Genesis 2 is a non religious church that was founded to create a legal structure to protect Jim Humble's teachings. They do not claim to serve G-d. They serve humankind. They do reference Bible quotes throughout the website (not active anymore) They chose the name Genesis 2 to reference a new beginning. This is related to their goal of restoring health and removing humans from the current "world of death" to the "world of living."Thier members and website suggest to help people, they must spread the "knowledge" of MMS. They maintain the belief that "big pharma" has a coverup happening related to MMS. They claim that MMS is safe for everyone. The members carry around a card that says: “This card signifies that this member of the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing has the God-given, unalienable right to control and maintain their personal health. All members are exempt from any means not chosen, including but not limited to: vaccinations, medications, X-rays, scans, implants, mandatory voting, and health insurance mandated by a human government or authority.” Several times a year, G2 held seminars on how to use MMS and a group of people would be certified in bleach in just a short weekend. They also had weekly 1 hour podcasts complaining about how everyone is out the get them. Mark Grenon claims to have been a Boy Scout. Scouts does not teach what he does. Sent a Letter To Trump When He Was In Office May 19, 2020 Dear President Trump and Attorney General Barr, I am writing you both to ask for the immediate arrest of US Attorneys Matthew J. Feeley, Ross S. Goldstein, David A. Frank, and US Judge Kathleen M. Williams for violating with gross negligence and contempt our 1st Amendment rights as a Church to practice our beliefs. The above mention individuals have been complicit in Case 1:20-cv-21601 by allowing the FDA and FTC to categorize our Church Sacraments as a ‘drug’ and thereof having power to regulate and or approve. Not only is this offense to us and ALL religions but a Church Sacrament does not need to be approved by the FDA or FTC to be practiced. According to the 1st Amendment there can be ‘no law’ that prohibits us never mind a code. Here is the code which the FDA is using as the basis for the case against us the Genesis II Church and 4 of its members. We as a Church are having our rights violated and need relief immediately from this unlawful attack against our Church and the 1st Amendment. Restraining Order Against the Manufacture and Distribution of MMS by G2

It finally happened. Yesterday the Genesis 2 Church had court at the Federal Courthouse in Miami. Miami is only 50 miles from where I live in South Florida. I took a drive with another member of my organization to see this happen. Unfortunately, it was a closed hearing. We knew this was a possibility. It was an emergency hearing to determine if the temporary injunction on the sale and promotion of MMS would become permanent. On May 1, 2020, it was released that there was a preliminary injunction placed on Genesis 2 Church: “‘Genesis 2 Church now has been banned from selling, promoting, signposting, distributing MMS Chlorine Diixide bleach! They cannot: ‘label, hold, and/or distribute any drug, including but not limited to MMS, that does not have an approved new drug application pursuant to 21.’1. The United States’ motion for a preliminary injunction (DE 3) is GRANTED.2. Upon entry of this Order, Defendants and each and all of their directors, officers, agents, representatives, employees, successors, assigns, attorneys, and any and all persons in active concert or participation with any of them (hereinafter, “Associated Persons”) who receive actual notice of this Order, shall not, during the pendency of this action, directly or indirectly, label, hold, and/or distribute any drug, including but not limited to MMS, that does not have an approved new drug application pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 355(b) or abbreviated new drug application pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 355(j), or an investigational new drug application in effect for its use pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 355(i), or any drug that is misbranded within the meaning of 21 U.S.C. § 352.3. Upon entry of this Order, Defendants and Associated Persons shall immediately refrain from disposing of or transferring any assets that may interfere with implementation of payment of restitution to consumers who purchased Defendants’ drugs, should the Court ultimately order such restitution payments in its final judgment in this matter.5. Upon entry of this Order, Defendants and Associated Persons are prohibited from destroying, discarding, altering, transferring or otherwise making unavailable any document or record in electronic format or otherwise within their custody or control that are related to (a) MMS; (b) misbranded drugs; and/or (c) unapproved new drugs.6. Representatives of FDA shall be permitted, without prior notice and as and when FDA deems necessary, to inspect Defendants�� places of business and take any other measures necessary to monitor and ensure continuing compliance with the terms of this Order. During such inspections, FDA representatives shall be permitted to: have immediate access to buildings, including but not limited to 2014 Garden Ln, Bradenton, FL 34205-5274 (the “Facility”), equipment, raw ingredients, in-process materials, finished products, containers, packaging material, labeling, and other promotional material therein; take photographs and make video recordings; take samples of Defendants’ in-process or unfinished and finished products, containers, packaging material, labeling, and other promotional material; and examine and copy all records relating to the labeling, holding, and distribution of any and all drugs and their components. The inspections shall be permitted upon presentation of a copy of this Order and appropriate credentials. The inspection authority granted by this Order is separate and apart from, and in addition to, the authority to make inspections under the FDCA, 21 U.S.C. § 374.7. Defendants shall bear the cost of any inspections, analytical work, and supervisory activities that FDA deems necessary to evaluate Defendants’ compliance with any of the terms of this Order.8. Defendants shall post a copy of this Order in a common area at the Facility and at any other location at which Defendants conduct business and shall ensure that the Order remains posted for as long as the Order remains in effect.9. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the United States shall promptly provide notice of this action and this Order to Defendants by attempting service at last known email addresses and physical addresses. Pursuant Rule 65(c) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, United States of America shall not be required to post security for the instant action. DONE AND ORDERED in chambers in Miami, Florida, this 1st day of May, 2020.'” Not only did MMS get banned, but the Genesis 2 Church is being held in Contempt of Court for violating the temporary injuction !  “ORDERTHIS MATTER is before the Court on the United States’ motion for an order to show cause why Defendants should not be held in contempt (DE 23).   After ignored temporary injunctions and court appearances, the FDA raided the Grenon's residence. There were Federal charges filed against Mark Grenon and his 3 adult sons. After a search warrant was executed, they recovered:   50 gallons of muriatic acid 22 gallons of miracle mineral solution 8,300 pounds of sodium chlorite.   Two of the Grenon sons were arrested and the other two were hiding in El Rodadero, Magdalena, Columbia.     Mark Grenon's Reaction after the raid:

  Not long after this, Grenon and his other son were arrested in Columbia. All the people involved are currently in jail under marshall hold. They are currently still awaiting a court date in jail. "The leader of the most prominent group in the US peddling potentially lethal industrial bleach as a “miracle cure” for coronavirus wrote to Donald Trump at the White House this week.

In his letter, Mark Grenon told Trump that chlorine dioxide – a powerful bleach used in industrial processes such as textile manufacturing that can have fatal side-effects when drunk – is “a wonderful detox that can kill 99% of the pathogens in the body”. He added that it “can rid the body of Covid-19”.

A few days after Grenon dispatched his letter, Trump went on national TV at his daily coronavirus briefing at the White House on Thursday and promoted the idea that disinfectant could be used as a treatment for the virus. To the astonishment of medical experts, the US president said that disinfectant “knocks it out in a minute. One minute!”

He went on to say: “Is there a way we can do something, by an injection inside or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that.”

Trump did not specify where the idea of using disinfectant as a possible remedy for Covid-19 came from, and the source for his notion remains obscure. But the Guardian has learned that peddlers of chlorine dioxide – industrial bleach – have been making direct approaches to the White House in recent days.

Grenon styles himself as “archbishop” of Genesis II – a Florida-based outfit that claims to be a church but which in fact is the largest producer and distributor of chlorine dioxide bleach as a “miracle cure” in the US. He brands the chemical as MMS, “miracle mineral solution”, and claims fraudulently that it can cure 99% of all illnesses including cancer, malaria, HIV/Aids as well as autism.

Since the start of the pandemic, Genesis II has been marketing MMS as a cure to coronavirus. It advises users, including children, to mix three to six drops of bleach in water and drink it.

In his weekly televised radio show, posted online on Sunday, Grenon read out the letter he wrote to Trump. He said it began: “Dear Mr President, I am praying you read this letter and intervene.”

Grenon said that 30 of his supporters have also written in the past few days to Trump at the White House urging him to take action to protect Genesis II in its bleach-peddling activities which they claim can cure coronavirus.

On Friday, hours after Trump talked about disinfectant on live TV, Grenon went further in a post on his Facebook page. He claimed that MMS had actually been sent to the White House. He wrote: “Trump has got the MMS and all the info!!! Things are happening folks! Lord help others to see the Truth!”

Paradoxically, Trump’s outburst about the possible value of an “injection” of disinfectant into the lungs of Covid-19 sufferers came just days after a leading agency within the president’s own administration took action to shut down the peddling of bleach as a coronavirus cure around the US.

Last week the US Food and Drug Administration obtained a federal court order barring Genesis II from selling what was described as “an unproven and potentially harmful treatment for Covid-19”. The FDA also ordered a disciple of Genesis II, Kerri Rivera, to remove claims that MMS cured coronavirus from her website.

Last August the FDA issued an urgent warning urging Americans not to buy or drink MMS, which it said was a “dangerous bleach which has caused serious and potentially life-threatening side effects”. Drinking MMS can cause nausea, diarrhea and severe dehydration that can lead to death, the federal agency said.

The Guardian contacted the White House asking whether Grenon’s letter had influenced Trump’s comments on disinfectant, but did not immediately receive a response.

Another advocate of bleach as a miracle cure who has been seeking to interest Trump in the treatment is Alan Keyes. He is a former ambassador and adviser to Ronald Reagan who ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for the US Senate and on three occasions for the US presidency.

Keyes has featured Genesis II bleach products as a miracle cure on his online conservative TV show, Let’s Talk America.

It is not known whether Keyes has discussed MMS with Trump. But the two men have overlapping interests.

Not only have they both featured in Republican party and presidential politics, but they were both leading proponents of the Birther conspiracy theory that wrongfully suggested Barack Obama was born outside America.

Keyes’s TV show is hosted on IAMtv, a rightwing web-based channel. IAMtv’s other leading anchor is Bob Sisson, who has also advertised Genesis II bleach products on air.

In one of his shows, first reported by the Daily Beast, Sisson held up two bottles of Genesis II MMS and said: “Gonna meet Trump, it’s only a matter of time. President Trump’s gonna invite us up there, when he finds out about this stuff.”

On Friday Trump claimed he was being “sarcastic” in his remarks but there is no evidence to back up that claim and he appeared entirely serious as he made them."

Industrial bleach is being sold on Amazon through its product pages which consumers are buying under the mistaken belief that it is a “miracle cure” for Covid-19, despite health warnings from the US Food and Drug Administration that drinking the fluid can kill.

The chlorine dioxide solutions are being sold on the Amazon platform under the brand name CD Kit and NatriChlor. Third-party sellers signal the bleach as a “water treatment” and include legal disclaimers that the liquid is “not marketed for internal use”.

But comments from Amazon customers under the review section of the pages tell a different story. Users discuss how many drops of bleach they are imbibing and explain they are drinking the chemical which they call MMS to “disinfect ourselves”, a phrase that echoes Donald Trump’s controversial remarks in April that injections of disinfectant could cure Covid-19.

One purchaser, writing in Spanish, said his family had started taking bleach soon after the coronavirus pandemic hit the US. “Many people still don’t believe in it, but I am sure that it has helped us a lot,” he said.

Another Amazon customer wrote: “My mom who is 77 got Corona, Covid, and had a whole body-ache stomach upset, very extreme headache, fatigue … Well, she started taking MMS and NOT KIDDING you, she was practically half better the NEXT day and the day after she was totally good!!”

The bleach that is being sold on the Amazon marketplace is typically used in industrial processes including textile manufacturing and bleaching of pulp and paper. In small doses it can be used to disinfect water, but the concentrations being advocated by pushers of MMS – “miracle mineral solution” – are well above safety levels.

Proponents of MMS falsely claim that it is a cure-all for almost all diseases, including malaria, HIV/Aids, cancer and now Covid-19. They also market it untruthfully as a cure for the condition autism.

Since the start of the pandemic, the FDA has been trying to clamp down on fraudulent dealers of quack remedies claiming to protect against the virus. Last August the agency issued a strong health warning that MMS bleach products could be life-threatening.

The American Association of Poison Control Centers has recorded more than 16,000 cases of chlorine dioxide poisoning, including 2,500 cases of children under 12. Many of those individuals suffered serious side effects, the group noted, including a six-year-old autistic girl who three years ago required hospital treatment for liver failure.

Several deaths of people drinking bleach marketed as a “miracle cure” have been reported across South America, including in Argentina where a five-year-old boy was reported to have died in August having been given chlorine dioxide as a Covid cure.

In the past, Amazon has removed from its platform several pro-MMS books, including those by the founder of the movement, Jim Humble. He claimed to have discovered that chlorine dioxide cures malaria while on a gold mining expedition in the Guyana jungle in 1996.

Amazon in March promised to crack down on product listings that cash-in on false remedies for Covid-19. But third-party sellers are still finding ways to peddle potentially dangerous products on the site.

Amazon did not immediately respond to Guardian questions about the sale of the bleach on its platform.

Fiona O’Leary, a campaigner against MMS based in Ireland, said she was “shocked and heartbroken that Amazon is still selling this product. The FDA is prosecuting producers of bleach, but now we have Amazon selling it. How can this be happening?”

The CD Kit and Natrichlor bleach products currently on sale through Amazon are made by KVLAB, which is linked to Keavy’s Corner, an online shop based in Lake Placid, Florida. In a business listing, Keavy’s Corner describes itself as specializing in “chlorine dioxide products for consumer use”.

In an email to the Guardian, the owner of Keavy’s Corner, Steve Pardee, said that he began selling the product for cleaning dog kennels and equine use. He denied ever having claimed that chlorine dioxide is a cure, and stressed that he had nothing to do with the third-party sellers touting his wares on Amazon.

“I have never advocated human consumption. My listings for all these items have included links to FDA warnings since 2013,” he said.

Documents show that Pardee was active on the “MMS Forum”, an online community of advocates of bleach as a miracle cure, as recently as last year. In 2012 he was involved in preparing an approved list of MMS suppliers, and said in one post: “I started making MMS in 2008.”

Pardee told the Guardian that back in 2012 he had “offered safety and technical advice” to a forum run by Genesis II, a one-time leading provider of bleach miracle cures in the US run by the Grenon family. Mark Grenon, the head of the family, and his son Joseph were arrested and charged by the FDA last month in Columbia and are awaiting extradition to the US, while two other sons are also in jail facing similar charges in Florida.

Pardee said he had cut ties with Genesis back in 2013 or 2014 and had nothing to do with them. But he did join a discussion on the MMS Forum in March 2019 in which members discussed changing the name from Miracle Mineral Solution to WPS, an acronym for Water Purification Solution.

The name change would help them “hide from the wolves and hyenas targeting MMS,” as one user put it.

Pardee contributed to that conversation with the comment that “people who deal in any alternative health items need to be very careful of the language they choose. It all boils down to words. If you simply sell a chemical, and let people be educated elsewhere, they will find you when they know what they are looking for.”
