okay but i just need to give Kang Sujin major MAJOR props for ray/saeran's voice acting. all the voice acting in mysme is good but his is on an entierly different level. each aspect of saeran sounds like a different person. you can hear which one is talking. the story mode at the beginning of day 9 of ray's route is one of my favorites mostly because of the voice acting. ray's voice is distinct from suit saeran's (and they both sound different from saeray and unknown). and the EMOTION??? it's palpable, i can FEEL it. words aren't working quite right to convey how much i love his voice acting but yeah, major props to him 💜

Sujin woke unexpectedly in a bleary haze, his phone in his hand resting on the pillow beside him where he'd fallen asleep scrolling through some site or another. He rubbed at his eyes, bewildered for a moment as to what had woken him until he saw Sangkyu sitting on the edge of his bed looking a bit listless. This was not altogether unusual, so the reply to his inquiry did not come as a shock to the system, even with its bluntness and the lateness of hour. They were often blunt with one another about things like this.

Sujin let out a long breath, reaching out to plug his phone in before lifting his blankets in invitation for the other to join him in his bed. "You could have let me know before I hit REM cycle," he yawned, reaching out his free hand and tugging the male by the arm so that he'd collide bodily with him — not very graceful. His arms wound around Sangkyu's body and he clung to him like a koala.

"You doing the fucking, or am I?" he murmured into the other's hair, still clearly trying to regain consciousness, some part of him half prepared to fall back asleep with the other tucked in his arms like this, but he doubted Sangkyu would permit him.

Cult Creative, formerly Cult Creative Records, is a South Korean record label founded in 2003 by Han Byungcheol. Although Cosmic Club acquired the label in 2015, it still operates independently. In 2017, Cult Creative Records shed records from its name, becoming simply Cult Creative.

Cult Creative debuted its first artist in 2005, KIM RUBY, who brought the company moderate success upon debut. Their second act, HAEWON, in 2008, got the same results. However, the debut of the label’s first girl group in 2011, HEARTBURN, put the company on the map, bringing national success.  Dispute with Natthawut Sangsingkeo

In early June 2019, it was reported that Natthawut Sangsingkeo, also known as Dean, a member and composer of the Starborn Creative and Cult Creative group Zombie Pop, filed a lawsuit against the latter company for copyright infringement. He claimed he was not credited for writing So Hot and Chained Up by HeatBurn and Red String, respectively. The suit was announced via a Starborn Creative representative.

In a separate statement, the representative made it clear they were suing both Cult Creative and the producer, who was revealed to be BEAM (real name Lee JiYoung), who failed to credit Dean appropriately. They named the former for failing to hold the producer accountable for his actions. 

Cult Creative later released its statement, saying the accusations were “false” and that there was no evidence that Dean had participated in the composition of either song, to which Dean later submitted proof that he wrote a majority of both songs. The courts sided with Dean, stating the evidence provided was undeniable. The suit would be settled, with the artist getting royalties for 50% of both songs.

However, after this suit was settled, Dean would file another. He stated the previous case’s conclusion was inadequate as he had written a significant amount of both songs. Again, due to Dean's additional evidence, the courts sided with him. 

Ultimately, Cult Creative gave him 100% of the songwriting royalties. Later, a Cult Creative representative released a statement publicly apologizing to Dean and announcing they had terminated BEAM’s contract.

Cheritz's changes in staff over the lifetime of The Ssum

I wanted to write a post about this because it was the nail in the coffin convincing me that The Ssum won't get better. I really want to be optimistic, I was for the first year of the game's release. But with how hard they're fumbling June's route, and having some context by seeing the dramatic changes that happen behind the scenes, I don't have any hope for the game's future in its original concept.

So here's a big fat list of credits, comparison of them, and my own stupid commentary.

These are in the lyric booklet included in the Teo Love Bundle. Strangely enough, I'm already seeing differences between the 2018 credits and 2019. Uh oh?

As of release + a few months

These screenshots don't feature all the credits, unfortunately. I'm relying on screenshots someone else took because I'm not proactive but hindsight is 20/20.

Changes: Project is no longer managed by Heinrich Dortmann, instead by Juho Woo. Scenario team cut down to 2 people, one of which is a new name (Jooyoung Lim). Art team also cut down to 2 people. Sound is no longer resourced by Songhee Kim, but Jaeryeon Park and ROGIA. All new team of directing assistants as well, it expanded to 4 people but they're all new names. 2 fewer programmers, only one of the listed names was already working.

Here's where it somehow gets worse lol.

Changes: A lot. Directing assisted by 1 person. They were not a part of the team credited in the OP. Down to 3 programmers, only 1 being in the OP. Entirely new art team! It's up to 4 people, but all of them are new, even compared to only a few months prior. Down to 1 scenario writer pobrecita (but we're coming back to that). Since I don't have screenshots of the project assistant credits from launch, can't say anything for that, except that Gui Zhenghao is new compared to the OP but the number of staff there remained the same. Flaming Heart is gone for the BGM! He's been working with Cheritz for forever but is gone now. One person from the communication team left, so they're down to 2. That would explain why emails have been slower since October. Only 1 translator, though Cheritz is now looking to recruit new ones.

Important note:

According to Cheritz's post acknowledging their use of gAI, Sujin Ri was not involved in writing season 1 of the game, but IS the main writer for season 2. I won't make a rant about how much I hate what she's writing cuz this isn't the post for that, but it explains why season 2 is so vastly different.

The fact that only a few people (like, in the lower single digits) remain even from 2019/early 2022, let alone who's still around from 2018, is really frustrating for the game. The game started with one vision, but now it's being turned into something completely different. Even the app's functions are inconsistant between season 1 and 2 (and a little so between Harry and Teo). According to an email I got from Cheritz, season 2 takes place a few years before season 1. Just sit with that knowledge for a bit :P. It's like the current people in charge of The Ssum (*cough Sujiin Ri*) couldn't be bothered to keep the original concept in mind, let alone how the timeline would work.

This post was a long time coming, I was caught up in just how bizarre this all is and finding tons of stuff that I haven't even included in the post. Writing this has taken about 3 hours (including the time I spent on a post ONLY FOR TUMBLR TO NOT WANNA WORK PROPERLY WHEN I TRIED TO POST IT SO IT GOT DELETED) and uhhh yeah. Now I gotta wait a few years to ask former staff if their NDAs are expired yet LOL

Hey guys if you’re wondering why this exists is because I think that ItB has too many words so I’m just gonna straight up give you guys summaries of each chapter. + other world building stuff that’s important because there’s a lot of it and with how long it is, it’s hard to remember lol.

Chapters for s1

Prologue: Changes

Summary—> The people around Cale Henituse noticing how he’s changed, a set up chapter for the bigger plot.

What’s important:

Events have happened differently from canon(most notably, Violan and Deruth’s marriage being pushed back three years)

Basen being vaguely aware about his brother’s reasons to acting that way (implying that Cale’s trash act wasn’t completely perfect from the start)

Jour’s study housing novels and research books of all kinds.

The regression goes back to year 777 (4 years before the Harris Village Incident)

Chapter 1: Welcome Back(1)

Summary—> Kim Roksoo witnesses the end moments of Cale’s death and interferes with the deal after passing out while reading [The Birth of a Hero]. He now knows the voice in his head(concerning I know.) was actually the trash, Cale Henituse. The first few days of the regression on Roan are detailed. Cale begins to repair his relationship with his siblings

What’s important:

They won the war. Roan Kingdom was never razed to the ground.

Lily Henituse is alive(actually count most of the hero party here too, they all would’ve technically bit the dust by the final battle in TBoaH)

The deal being imperfect.

Once again Jour’s study being basically the library of Alexandria i guess.

Chapter 2: Welcome back(2)

Summary—> Cale wakes up on Earth, they go to a library before the chapter cuts back to Roan. Cale trains and spends time with the north-eastern nobles. Two year time skip after this. At the ending Cale’s whole death is revealed alongside the deal Choi Han made with the God of Death. He is now aware of the existence of [The Birth of a Hero].

What’s important:

List of survivors: Lily, Lock, Rosalyn, Hans, Alberu, Amiru, Choi Han.

List of those who had died: Jour, Deruth, Ron, Basen, Violan, Eric, Hilsman (Ron’s situation is complicated, though lol)

Lock and Lily were not there for the finale of the battle as well as Alberu, Rosalyn was there but she did not see the final confrontation with the WS

Despite Cale making the deal immediately after he died, those in Roan lived one more year until the world was reset.

Chapter 3: What was left behind(1)

Summary—> Aftermath of Cale’s death. Backstory stuff to how Henituse got involved with the hero party. Choi Han becomes count, one year timeskip and everybody becomes the papers in [The Birth of a Hero]. Choi Han’s deal with death in detail. Death monologs about important plot stuff

What’s important:

The amount of words everyone had on their papers. For example, Lily having several blank pages despite living and witnessing major parts of the war while the original protagonists of [The Birth of a Hero] have many words on their pages.

Removing/repressing memories from souls being a difficult process since souls r memories.

The only thing stronger than Death was Memories. No one truly dies until they are forgotten.

The more GoD messes with things the less power he actually has cause of # punishment (he’s getting beat up)

Chapter 4: What was left behind(2)

Summary—> Choi Han’s back in Korea and tells his mom he’s suicidal(self aware king!) , eats food and has several flashbacks. Choi Han lives life in Korea for a month before he runs into the dark forest cause he’s paranoid (# self sacrificial king, he didn’t need to do all that tho) and he wrote a lot in diaries and journals about his time in Roan

What’s important:

Choi Han and Choi Jungsoo actually interacted in the past and Choi Han’s time on earth is closer to CJS and KRS’s time

CH’s dad(Choi Sujin/CSJ) noticing CH’s presence even though CH is literally a war veteran.

CH being mentally unstable (VERY IMPORTANT)

Chapter 5: Old friend(1)

Summary —> Cale posses KRS on earth. Cuts to Roan and Cale makes plans to go to Harris Village without Deruth’s knowledge. Important nightmare sequences happen. Cale goes to Harris village

What’s important:

The first signs of the imperfect regression.

Cale’s depressing and somewhat gay dreams

The concepts of ghosts as a whole

Chapter 6: Old friend(2)

Chapter summary—> Cale goes to Harris village and collects the Rings of Life and he also starts bleeding and looking like he’s almost dying. Choi Han was stalling meeting Cale so he took a walk near the forest only to meet Cale anyway and rush him to medical attention. CH can see KRS too and communicate telepathically. Choi Han follows them back to Rain City

What’s important:

Everything about RoL

CH being able to see KRS

CH getting out of the forest earlier.

Summary—> Hilsman and Hans gossip while Beacrox begrudgingly listens. Hilsman gets humbled by Choi Han. Choi Han and Kim Roksoo talk and have a bonding experience abt Cale giving them gray hairs. Time passes and flashback to Choi Han talking abt killing Raon first time around. Chapter ends with them planning to sneak out

What’s important:

Everything about time and about how that is detailed

Cale and KRS not knowing anything abt why stuff is like this (they will find out eventually, unfortunately for them lmfao)

Chapter 9: What to do?(2)

Summary—> Choi Han and Cale go on a date but they don’t call it a date also Cale finds out abt Lily taking sword lessons. Chapter ends with KRS finally being able to physically interact with things after 2 years of not being able to

What’s important:

Cale’s trash act not being completely perfect.

Robin(yes they don’t show up again after this chapter but they will eventually, not rlly a major OC but their existence is something to think about time to time)

A/N: This chapter is very skippable ngl. Unless u like reading yaoi u don’t rlly have to read in between the lines for this one, only the ending segment is important. This was a filler chapter

Chapter 10: A dragon is here?!(1)

Summary—> Planning to save Raon and all of that stuff. Flashback scenes about the Henituse family, Cale promisss to get his five year old sister a great sword and no one questions it. Kim Roksoo didn’t show up for a bit and came back looking like shit which is brought up later

What’s important:

Stuff about the Henituse family.

Lily talking to Choi Han about her problems WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG(important cause she didn’t do that anymore after she got older lmfao)

Chapter 11: A dragon is here(2)

Summary—> the first half of the chapter is basically how saving Raon went in the novel with some extra dialog here and there. Cale and CH go on another date because Cale is lonely and he misses his friends and wants to see Kage and Taylor again.

What’s important:

There’s nothing important in the big scheme of things.

Kage and Cale r friends tho (guess I should say were)

Raon can see ghost Cale but because Cale is Cale he looks weird and scary like an actual ghost

A/N: tbh u could skip this chapter or just read a summary and nothing would change other than missing silly character interactions.

Chapter 12: Enjoy your youth(1)

Summary—> Cale goes to a noble meeting. We go back to earth for a flashback and find out why KRS looked like shit a few chapters ago(it was because someone was attempting to bully him but then Cale scared the shit out of the losers so it’s all good) anywho they all kinda settle into doing regular fun things and they all realize they had fucked up childhoods. They have fun and play around

What’s important:

Not much of mega importance this is just like a filler/fun chapter

Chapter 13: Enjoy your youth(2)

Summary—> Cale and KRS go to theme park and have a good time. More insight as to why KRS isn’t living with his uncle. KRS and Cale talk a little abt feelings(rare occurrence)

What’s important:

KRS originally being adopted at 14 instead of as a young child

Chapter 14: Getting to know you(1)

Summary—> character interactions happen, I can’t summarize all of that I’m sorry but um yeah there’s a lot of stuff about the original timeline in this chapter

Summary: Flashbacks to the past and KRS finds out CJS and CH are related because CH draws and records stories because he’s lonely and depressed and hates forgetting things important to him

Basen being a mage even though he’s not supposed to be (he’s not a master or anything he just learns it because he likes to study anything and everything)

note. I hope you enjoy the story! Soobin is really the definition of home (with the rest of the members). I love him so much. This one shot took a bit longer than expected since I was so exhausted from classes.

Sitting in the quiet library, she was focused on her assignments that were due the day after tomorrow. With a sigh for the 10th time, she stretched before continuing her studies. She has to get As this year and the next year. But it was so hard. She felt like crumbling down. Letting out another sigh, she felt someone staring at her. Looking up, she saw her boyfriend looking at her with concern.

He was peeking out from behind his book, he was reading. His glasses were reaching the end of his nose. “Love, are you okay?” He asked in a concerned tone. She shook her head before bearing herself into the textbook she was reading early. “Am I a failure?” She muttered into the textbook. Her boyfriend quickly shook his head but forgot she could see him. “Of course not. Why do you think that?”

“I just feel like I am.” He could hear her face crack when she said that. He quickly stood up, took off his glasses, and walked next to her. Squatting in front of her to see her face better. “Look at me.” She shook her face. “I'm an embarrassment, aren't I?” He sighed, carefully putting her head up. She quickly covered her face before he could see her. Her boyfriend pulled her hand away from her face and made her look at him. He saw her face was puffy and around her eyes were kind of red. Tears were falling down her face.

His eyes softened when he looked at her. “Oh, Sujin…” he wiped her tears as they fell down her cheeks. “I'm sorry, I must look terrible.” He shook his head, pulling her closer to him. Hugging her tightly, but not too tight. Gently patted her back as she cried in silence. “I'm so stressed, Soobin. I don't know if I can keep on doing this…” He hummed in response, listening to her ranting. “I am here, I can help you with anything you are struggling with. Or I could ask my friend, Taehyun, if you need a tutor or something.”

“I don't want to be a burden though…” Soobin broke the hug, looking her in the eyes. “You aren't a burden. You never will be. At least to my friends and me.” Wiping her tears again. “You can always ask me for help. If I can't help you, then I can ask my friends to help. They will be willing to help, too. You just have to ask.” She nodded. “Sorry..”

“Why are you sorry? You didn't do anything wrong.” “I know…. It's just a habit.” She looked down at her hands, fidgeting them. He kissed her forehead. “Why don't we take a break? You deserve to take a break. Then I will help you with your studies and maybe ask Taehyun for some help too. He is in the same year as you so he should know something.” She nodded. “I do need a break.” Soobin helped her stand up before he cleaned up a bit of the mess they made at their table. He grabbed her bag and then took her hands, and they left their things in the library.

They decided to go to a cafe near the university library. Soobin talked about random conversations just to take her mind off her studying mood for a while. Once they had made it to the cafe, he opened the door for her. Then they ordered two drinks and a cake to share.

“You know how we count ages since the day we are born from our mothers’ wombs?－ He asked as they waited for their order to be finished. She nodded, listening to whatever he wanted to say －But in fact, we're alive in our mothers’ wombs before that, and even before that, we're in our fathers’ bodies.” Her eyes widened when the realization hit. “W-wait a moment－” “If you count those years too, we might be hundreds of years old－ He continued －we could've been in our grandfathers’ before that. We could've been in our great-grandfathers’. Depending on when we start counting our ages..” He stopped and looked at his girlfriend who was gone from the world. “Earth to Sujin.” He waved his hand in front of her face. “Huh, oh, you finished?” He nodded. “But am I right?” She nodded. “That does make sense, so I agree.” He smiled. “Right, right?

“Choi Soobin!?” One of the baristas called. Sujin looked up. “Oh, our orders are done.” She was about to stand up, but Soobin beat her to it. He was already at the front getting the order. He came back and carefully put down her beverage in front of her. She thanked him before taking a sip. They talked about anything random as they ate the cake before walking out of the cafe with their drinks.

Once they returned to the library, they quickly went to their table. As Sujin was about to open her textbook, Soobin stopped her and gave her a kiss on the lips. “Do you need any help?” He asked, breaking the kiss. She nodded. “Yeah, if you want to help.” He took a seat next to her and looked at her assignments. “Hmm, let me see.” He taught her some of the things she needed help with and gave her some compliments when she did the right answer. “Oh my goodness, you are a savior!” She beamed in happiness once she had finished with her last question. He smiled as he ruffled her hair. “You did most of it. I just helped a bit.” “But still, you are a savior. I was going to go crazy.”

He smiled and ruffled her hair. “Do you have any other assignments?” He asked her. She opened her planner before shaking her head. “That's all..” He nodded. “Come let's go to my house and watch something.” Helping her pack up before walking out of the university grounds. They walked to his apartment, and Soobin pressed the passcode with one hand while the other was holding most of her things. “Do you need some help?” She asked, trying to grab her things. “Nope, I got it,” he said as he opened the door. Letting her step into the apartment first before walking in and closing the door behind him. He took her other bag that she was holding without her knowing and walked to his bedroom. “Hey!” she shook her head as she watched him enter his bedroom.

She walked to the kitchen, deciding what to eat for dinner. Looking around for something, she felt someone hugging her from behind. Turning to her side, she saw Soobin was changed into a t-shirt and shorts. “What are you doing?” He snuggled into her neck. Sujin felt his breath on her bare skin. “That tickles.” She giggled, trying to move away from his hug. He hugged her even tighter than before. “Soobin, I am trying to cook something for us to eat.” “Let us stay like this a little longer, please.” She sighed, letting him hug her a little longer.

Once he broke the hug, he gave her a kiss on the cheeks. “I will cook,” he told her. She shook her head. “I want to cook this time. You always cook when we are together.” Soobin shook his head. “Let me cook for you. You had a stressful day.” “You said that every day,” she complained. “But isn't it true?” He raised his eyebrows. She sighed in defense. “Yeah, it is true…but－” He kissed her lips before she could finish her sentence. “No, buts. Sit down and go on your phone or something.” She nodded in defense before sitting down at the kitchen island and pulling out her phone.

Glancing from her phone, she secretly watched her boyfriend cook. His sleeve was rolled up, and he was focusing on making the meal. Oh, so she thought. “Like what you are seeing here?” Soobin smirked, glancing at her. Her face quickly turned red and buried herself in her hands. “Whatever,” she muttered.

After her boyfriend finished cooking, he took out three plates and put the food on the plates. Covered one of the plates for his older sister before serving the other two plates to the dining table. Both of them ate their dinner in a comfortable silence. No words were heard while they ate. Sujin didn't like it when people talked while they ate so Soobin respected that. After they finished eating, she went to his bedroom to take a shower while he went to clean up the kitchen.

“Soobin, have you seen your hair dryer?” She asked as she exited his bedroom. “No….did you check the drawers?” “Yes, I did check all of them.” Soobin turned around, and a smirk appeared on his face. She was wearing shorts, an oversized plain black t-shirt, and a towel wrapped around her neck with water dripping down her hair. “You look good with my clothes, you should wear them more often.”

“Oh shut up, I didn't pack any of my clothes, and your sister was out.” She rolled her eyes while slightly blushing. “Now that I think about it. My older sister took it to her room. I will get it.” He walked to his sister's bedroom and entered it. After a minute, he came back with the dryer. Walking to the couch, he plugged the dryer into the outlet before patting the spot next to him. “Come sit down.” “I can dry my hair on my own.” “I know you can, just come here or I'll carry you here.” She stared at him like he was joking. “I'm not joking. Don't give me that look.” Soobin put down the dryer on the couch before standing up. He carefully and slowly walked up to her.

She started running away from him. “Come here or else,” he threatened. She giggled and still ran away from her. “Got you.” He back-hugged her, snuggling into her shoulders, and closed his eyes, smelling the shampoo that she used. “Mm, you smell good with my shampoo, too.” She was blushing harder, and before she knew it, he carried her. She squealed a bit. Soobin carried her to the couch and made her sit down. He sneaked his arms around her, pulling her a bit closer to her before grabbing the hair dryer and turning it on. She tried to move away from his hold, but he didn't let her. With a small sigh, she let him hug her and dry her hair.

She seemed to hate it, but deep inside, she loved the affection he was giving her, and he knew it. He didn't tell her that he knew she liked it in secret, but instead kept on doing the affection. He knew about her past where she didn't get any affection from anyone, not even her parents. So he tried to give her it instead when he could. “Sujin?” She hummed in response, still closing her eyes. “I love you.” She smiled. “I love you too.”

Two hours had passed, and now both of them were lying in bed. Sujin and Soobin were cuddling in bed while both of them were asleep. Suddenly, her eyes shot up, and her breath was shaking. Sweat was slowly falling down her face. She snuggled even closer to him as she felt tears rolling down. He was woken up by her quiet sobs. Gently stroked her back and brought her closer to him. Giving her a slight squeeze to let her know he is there. “Soobin?” Her voice cracked a bit. He hummed in response. “I have a nightmare again… I thought my dad would get me and－” Before she could finish her sentence, she felt something warm on her lips. Opening her teary eyes, her eyes widened when she saw he kissed her. “You don't have to anymore,” he gently told her as he pulled away, wiping the tears.

“I'm here now and will never let that man near you ever.” She felt her heart beating faster, and a small smile grew. “Would you want to go back to sleep or stay up a little longer?” He asked her. “I want to sleep.” He smiled before giving her a nod. “Would you like me to sing to you or not?” “I would love that,” she answered with no hesitation. He brought her closer to him to his chest. She closed her eyes, feeling tired as he sang to her to sleep. Within 5 minutes, she fell asleep.

Soobin stopped singing once he heard she was asleep. He carelessly stoked her hair with a smile on his face. Kissed the top of her head. “Good night, love,” he muttered softly before closing his own eyes and letting the slumber take over him.
