Mini-review:

I've been obssesed with the Mafia game for years, so I was really excited when this sort-of-adaptation was announced. But tbh, it's nothing extraordinary. While it's very fun and it keeps you glued to the screen, it's also very silly. What's more, pretty much all the characters are incredibly dumb and frustrating. Although I have to say that's part of what makes the show fun. You just can't help but stick around to see how these characters mess things up even more. Hell, they make so many stupid decisions that I actually found myself screaming at the TV more times than I'd like to admit. Some of the twists did catch me by surprise, but the ending was... not good. I had already guessed the writer would pull something like that, but it was actually worse than I expected. Anyway, Night Has Come isn't good, but I had a fun watching it and it kept me entertained, so that's something.

It wasn’t until a week later that you met the other actors and actresses in the film.

Your manager, Hongseok, had cleared pretty much your entire schedule so the rest of PRISM was out promoting while you were waiting awkwardly at the film studio, straightening out your white skirt and thinking of what to say to Sunghoon.

After all, you did kind of audition for Belift as a joke. You were really into Enhypen and Newjeans, so you sent in your singing and dancing tape thinking you weren’t going to get picked anyway. You did, though.

“Hi, sorry I’m late!” The all too familiar Australian accent pops out of nowhere, and your breathing is 10 times rapid knowing exactly who it belonged to. Pham Hanni from Newjeans.

“No worries!” You say, almost choking on the piece of bread you were taking a bite out of. “Greetings sunbaenim!”

You bow but Hanni shakes her head quickly, “ah.. no need. I read your profile, you’re a year older than me, so if anything, I should be the one saying the formalities.”

You don’t get to say anything else before the Park Sunghoon and Kim Gyuvin walk in.

Oh my God. You internally think. You almost have to hold back from fainting because how the hell are you in the presence of Hanni, Gyuvin, and Sunghoon at the same time?!

“This is our main cast,” the director says, who your manager has told you to refer to as Director Jung. “We have a few more idols but they’ll be in and out between episodes.”

The four of you nod, you suddenly feeling so small when in the same room as your talented sunbaenims.

“Today is just introduction and get to know each other day since I know this was probably brought up upon you guys suddenly and it can seem overwhelming and uncomfortable.” Director Jung smiles, showing off his bright white teeth.

“The drama is a romance one, kind of like an American coming to age except Korean, you know? It’s called Parallel Love. The main character, Baek Yunhee is played by Yoon Y/N as you all know.” He then points towards your direction, making the other 3 idols all turn their attention to you. “Yunhee’s love interest is Min Suho, played by Park Sunghoon. The reason I chose the two of you was because you were exactly how I pictured Yunhee and Suho visually and I feel like you would astound me and the viewers with your acting.”

Your eyes subtly peek at Sunghoon, who looks absolutely glorious despite his messy hair and tired eyes. The engene inside of you screamed, but you masked it by biting the inside of your cheek.

“Now, the main female antagonist is Choi Sanghee, which will be played by Pham Hanni. The main male antagonist is Park Wooseok, played by Kim Gyuvin. Sanghee and Wooseok are somewhat love interests, but they’re also Yunhee and Suho’s biggest rivals.”

The rest of Director Jung’s words went from one of your ear and out another as he kept speaking, your vision instead focused on Park Sunghoon.

“Alright, that’s all I have to say! Any questions?”

There’s a few murmurs but no one says anything, so Director Jung hands the four of you individual scripts that were so thick you could slap a person with it.

“It’s time to take the poster photos so let’s get to work guys. Don’t disappoint me.”

Way to not pressure an idol who’s life is already hectic, you think.

Highlights of Ep 484

SPOILER ALERT

It was revealed that Shigeaki Kojima and Seongji Yook entered a one-sided agreement in the past, for Seongji's annointment as a yaksha (guardian spirit) for Taejin. Apparently Seongji was taught to become this (and therefore sort of "graduated" from his original "sacrifice" slavery) by Shigeaki.

As she was helping her friends, Mary warned Seongji that the Japanese men were dangerous. Then they noticed that their master and Shigeaki were arguing in Japanese.

Tension escalated. Shigeaki accused Seongji of hiding Vin from the shaman the cult, Vin denied that the King was hiding him and followed the Japanese men instead.

Taejin was furious and jealous that Vin, (his property) was seen with Seongji, his promised yaksha (his other property). (There's no saving this kid I fear...)

Afterwards, Mary told the others that she thought Vin followed those people to protect them, but Seongji dimissed her, saying that Vin was just another brainwashed kid.

However, Wooseok told them that Vin was only there because he was trapped, and originally came there with his mother for the cure of polycoria, until she took her own life and he was enslaved as a sacrifice. This explanation seemed to stun Seongji.

Meanwhile, a surprising guest visited the shaman: Charles Choi, as a newly rising CEO. It was revealed that the businessman knew that men from Shigeaki's side of the Yamazaki faction were supporting the shaman. The shaman then asked, what exactly it was that Charles wanted from him.

During a ritual that night, Vin had a mental breakdown and shouted that this whole thing was a scam and that everyone was fooled into thinking that Cheonliang and the cult were their salvation.

The shaman demonized Vin (who also wanted to die) instead. The kid was pummeled, kicked, and eventually almost stoned by the cult members until Seongji stopped them.

The shaman proceeded to introduce Seongji as Taejin's yaksha, and Taejin was excited.

However, Seongji asked Vin whether he wanted to be rescued. Not getting used to neither admitting that he needed help nor getting actual help, Vin said no at first then broke down and said "Save me" (which reminds me of the cult kdrama Save Me).

As Vin wondered why he was worthy of saving, Seongji told him that they were both sacrifices, and that Vin's eye was cool. The kid wept as he was hearing this, probably the first time after years and years of being ashamed of it.

Seongji announced right then and there that he was taking Vin away, and breaking his promise of becoming a yaksha. He welcome the oncoming fight.

Notes:

Mary had always been quick at discerning people's behavior and I'm glad that Wooseok was the same. I thought Jewoo was the more perceiving kind but going by the awkwardness between him and Mary in the future, I don't think that's the case.

I like how PTJ made almost everyone, including Seongji, think that Vin was just a brainless cult member until they got the full story. This is consistent with what I watched and read about cults. People usually are quick to judge that people in cult are foolish, without understanding why they were manipulated in the first place.

I wonder whether it was Seongji's death that sent Vin back into his vicious cycle of shame and guilt, including hiding his polycoria.

A criatividade partiu de Jihan e de Daniel, a paixão por motocicletas partiu de Naseon, nessa estrutura, Bonhwa fez graduação em design de games em Seoul, mas terminou o mestrado junto com o curso de administração no Japão, ao contrário do irmão mais velho, tudo aconteceu um pouco mais perto do pai e dando mais chances de poder participar mais ativamente da vida dele, e dos outros dois pais também, só assim para Jihan concordar com esse plano maluco.

Infelizmente não casou, diferente do irmão, mas em um de seus relacionamentos acabou engravidando uma namorada que só descobriu depois do fim do relacionamento, decidiram criar a filha juntos, fazendo com que ela se mudasse para Seoul junto com ele, onde vivem como amigos, no mesmo prédio com um apartamento vizinho do outro, chegando a ser padrinho de casamento dela e do filho do casal.

Bonhwa tem um espírito livre, gasta horas trabalhando com criação, desenho e coloração, quase o dia inteiro na frente do computador, mas a vida social é bastante agitada, mesmo depois dos trinta anos. Escolheu viver sozinho, era melhor assim, e com o seu desempenho cada vez melhor no trabalho acabou lhe rendendo uma empresa de games que ainda tá no início, mas já possui grandes investimentos para projetos futuros. Bonhwa também comprou uma pequena galeria de arte digital, onde expõe também a sua primeira moto, presente de Naseon. É fã número um do Daniel, possui todos os trabalhos dele desde o primeiro lançamento, frequenta todos os shows e tem até carteirinha do fandom e uma conta nas redes sociais, onde abusa o máximo da intimidade com o papai músico. É visto como o filho mais divertido de Jihan, e esse espírito não vai mudar tão cedo, ainda mais tendo duas péssimas referências do seu lado.

Bonhwa participa das reuniões desde quando começou, mas esse ano vai ser a primeira vez que vai levar a filha, que se chama Rina e já tem cinco anos, e o afilhado Ryoko, de três anos.
