Dance with me 💛

One of my favorite early fics for Bryce and Olivia is "Dance with me", a drabble where these two dance in the rain outside of the hospital. It was when they really took their relationship public. I can't believe this story is four years old already. It doesn't seem possible?

The loveliest ArtbyAinna on Instagram brought this moment to life and I am so excited to share it with you. These two have my entire heart and dancing in the rain has been and will always be their thing! ☔️

Background:

American couple, Daniel and Emily Day were unable to have children of their own. They turned toward adoption. The process was longer and more tiring than they expected but their hearts warmed when they learned they finally had been accepted. They traveled to Seoul to meet their prospective daughter, and couldn't have been more overjoyed knowing she would be theirs. Soon, they would bring Laura home and their lives would never be the same.

Her parents never hid her adoption with her. They were open with her and offered her help with any struggles she might have. They celebrated that she was different. Her parents made sure that Laura's teachers acknowledged her heritage and they didn't take it lightly when children made comments and if teachers tried to brush it off.

Laura does not know her birth parents. When she was in her teens she did look for them briefly, but she didn't find them. After she got pregnant, her focus became Lily and her life switched course.

Fun Facts:

Laura is an only child. Her parents considered adopting a second child but with Laura things felt complete.

Speaks English, Korean, and French

Laura plays the violin. She had a Korean-American teacher, Min-Ji Park, who taught her violin but also helped her learn more about her culture. She had a daughter whom Laura became close to.

Laura learned to cook traditional Korean dishes and shared them with her family.

Laura's parents helped her learn about and celebrate Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year) and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving).

Following the events of MOTY, Laura goes back to school and becomes a nurse

Does not have a lot of relationship experiences, Guy was her first serious relationship. After that, she focused on Lily and trying to get by. She did have a few brief relationships (with both men and women), but she never let them get too far. Only one of them ever met Lily (once). It went well, but Laura got scared and pushed her away.

Laura's parents were happy to help and support her with Lily when Guy left, but Laura pulled away. She had a hard time dealing with his betrayal in abandoning them. She eventually went to therapy to help her realize this wasn't about her. His actions were his fault and not of her. Unfortunately, due to the cost she wasn't able to continue therapy.

Levi was different because he got to know (and love) Lily while Laura was also getting to know him. Lily loving Levi and Levi caring for her made Laura's walls break down and give him a real chance.

Laura taught Lily to speak Korean.

Laura and Lily share a love of K-Pop, BlackPink is one of their favorites.
