Taken the same day as the previous post, this was an tree cholla (Cylindropuntia imbricata) patch. They are native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico in arid regions just below the pinyon-juniper belt. Flowers bloom during late spring/early summer with magenta blossoms. They eventually shed the flower, producing a tubercular yellow fruits with a hollow that once held the flower and retain these fruits throughout the winter. The fruits are eaten by many birds and mammals, though they might not taste good to us since they're dry and have little taste, but that didn't stop the Native Americans of Arizona and New Mexico from enjoying them. as i usually do with media that uses or takes place in desert biomes, i was ranting about incorrect cacti things in Half Life(aka the cactus there) and how I hate that Saguaros are always used as reference to what a “normal cactus” is when they’re ONLY in the sonoran desert, and then the kc server made a joke about gordon falling in a jumping cholla. so i drew it instead of working on pages. 

NOTE: IM PRETTY SURE JUMPING CHOLLA ARENT IN NEW MEXICO EITHER???

"Bullshit, I saw eyes--"

Jason grimaces.

"Ages."

"Yeah."

"Shine. Shine your light at me. Just. Real quick."

Great, he's concussed. Whatever, that's Mark's problem. Trent obliges and promptly drops the light.

"What the shit!"

"Yeah." Jason pinches a cholla spine between his fingers and gives a tug. "Ow...okay. We've clearly got a while, so we may as well start with the kidnapping and go from there."
