🤠🐎 Wild West Regression Fun! 🐎🤠

Taking inspiration from @chompchompchu's How To Play journal pages, here are some ways that you can play Wild West when you're regressed!

🤠 Dress like a cowpoke!

Cowpokes wear things that'll protect them from the harsh sun and rough sand! Wear some linen, cotton, and denim! Throw on a poncho, scarf, or handkerchief around your neck! Cool boots! Most importantly, don't forget your hat!

🐎 Make a horse friend!

While you could buy a hobby horse online or in some toy stores, you can also make your very own! The main thing you need is a long stick you can prance around on, but a broom will do the job! Imagination can go a long way, but for littles that want something a bit more substantial, you can make your own pony head! You can use:

A sock! Here's a link to a blog tutorial and here's a link to a video tutorial, both of which show how to convert a sock into a pony (and/or unicorn)!

An oven mitt! Here's a tutorial where everything they used was bought from a dollar store!

A pool noodle! If you can't use a broom, this option may be more attainable! Here's a tutorial that uses a pool noodle and twine to achieve the desired effect!

Some felt! Here's a video tutorial showing how to use three pieces of felt to make a pony! They use a sewing machine, but because of the usage of felt, hot glue can also be used!

Or, a few pieces of paper! This essentially uses the same steps as the previous tutorial, but using paper instead of felt! Printer paper can be used if you want something a bit more disposable, but poster paper/heavier cardstock can also be used if you want to slide it off to use again and again!

Print out (or trace! Or freehand!) the previous two images:

Color them in! Use whatever colors you want, it's your pony!

Cut out each piece along the outer edge!

Assemble! Glue only along the outside edge, careful to not glue the neck closed!

Attach an ear to each side of the head, folding along the dotted line to help them stick out!

Stick the horse head on a stick! Or broom! Or whatever you got! You're done, so you can do whatever you want now!

Feel free to make the appropriate horse sounds as you gallop through the desert!

🤠 Lasso your stuffies!

Riding around on your horse, you spot it - a herd of stuffies up the road (or, more accurately, spread across the room)! Help out and make sure they don't wander where they're not supposed to go by using a rope (such as a jump rope, twine, ribbon, or whatever you think will work) and make a lasso at the end of it. Then, mindful of your surroundings, twirl it in the air. When you're ready, toss it over to a stuffie, catching the rope before it slides out of your hands! Hopefully, you've looped it around the stuffie, and you'll be able to pull/lead them over to you, where they can't make any trouble! Repeat until everyone is safe!

🐎 Visit a saloon!

After a long day of riding your horse, it's nice to pop into a local saloon to rest for a bit! While some of their wares are a bit... strong for a little one like you, a root beer, sarsaparilla, that new-fangled coca-cola, or simple cold glass of milk will go a long way to making you feel at home!

🤠 This is a stick-up!

Uh-oh, it looks like there's trouble at the saloon - or maybe it's the bank? or a train! There's a renowned outlaw coming in, demanding that all valuables, whether it be jewelry, money, toys, or candy, to be put into a bag! Is that you under the mask? Or are you going to put a stop to these dastardly deeds?

🐎 Create some wanted posters!

Criminals don't tend to pose for photos, so why not draw some wanted posters? Draw a mugshot of your nefarious stuffies, using only your memory as reference. Then add their name, crime, and bounty below it. Feel free to make their crimes as serious or silly as you want, and the bounties as high or low as you think they're worth - the bigger the crime they committed, the bigger the payout! ... hey, is that you on the poster? *gulp*

🤠 Become a bounty hunter!

There's plenty of ways to make ends meet in the Wild West, why not help out local law enforcement and get a pretty penny in the process? Look at the wanted posters posted up around town, then try to find whoever is on it as fast as you can! After all, you may not be the only bounty hunter in town, nor do you want your bounty to get wise to your tracking!

🐎 Quick-draw!

It looks like you've been challenged to a duel! Get your trusty nerf gun, water gun, cap gun, or even fingers if you're in a pinch, and start walking! Take a few paces away, and lock eyes with your opponent - whoever draws and shoots the other first wins! Let's hope you're a fast as you look...

🤠 Watch cowpoke media!

After a long day of being a cowpoke, it's nice to relax with dinner and a show. While there may or may not be a show in the saloon, those are more likely than not be for older and mature audiences - in fact, most entertainment for the Old West is! Ordered from stuff for the littlest cowpokes up to stuff for the older kiddos, some suggestions are:

Sheriff Callie's Wild West

This is a Disney Junior show that follows the adventures of kitty cat Sheriff Callie as she solves the problems in her town! Very cute and very western themed, great for the littlest littles.

Toy Story 2

While not strictly a western exactly, Toy Story 2 is an extremely cowpoke film. When Woody gets taken by a toy collector, he meets fellow cowpokes, Bullseye, Jesse, and the Prospector! Will he get back home to Andy or will he stay with his new friends?

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

This show is best described as "If Indiana Jones was a cowboy" - which makes more sense when I tell you that one of the showrunners wrote The Last Crusade. It's a family friendly cowboy show, filled with adventure, sci-fi, and comedy! Will bounty hunter Brisco County Jr catch the criminals who killed his dad? Will he solve the mystery of The Orb? Will he find The Coming Thing? Will he get caught up in some hijinks? Will you fall in love with his very good horse Comet?

The Mandalorian

Listen, it's hard to find family friendly cowpoke media. This Star Wars series takes the most inspiration from old westerns, and it really shows. Follow bounty hunter and Mandalorian Din Djarin as he searches the galaxy to find the family of his last bounty - the small, green, big eared baby that has a striking resemblance to a Jedi named Yoda.

Special shout-out to the first episode of the second season for being extremely "cowpoke meet Star Wars"

If none of these suit your fancy, there's a chance that one of your preferred cartoons has already done a cowpoke/western-styled episode! Take a look at the TV Tropes' Cowboy Episode page to try to find the shows you like!

Refer to your Capri Suns as “blood bags” and pretend to bite them when you stick the straw in.

(On the other hand, if you don’t like juice, make your own “blood” by mixing water and red food dye!)

Stay out of the sunlight! Hiss a windows and dramatically avoid the sunbeams on the ground. Wear sun hats if you have to go outside.

Bite chewy toys - or people! (Gently!)

Try to hypnotize others with your intense stare. (If that doesn’t work, try puppy eyes.)

Stay up super late playing. Bedtimes are for mortals!

Hide from mirrors. You can’t let anyone see your lack of reflection!

Draw bats on your fingers and then pretend to explode into a swarm of bats.

How to play: enderman

Dress up in all black and purple, (or any dark colors if you dont have either!)

Shh be as quiet as you can while sneaking around! 

Pick up items and make a fort! (Extra points if you steal a block from the couch like endermans steal my walls >:(

Take a walk in the park, pick flowers, do crafts with nature 🌱

Use purple glitter glue for enderman partials in your drawings

Make spooky enderman noises or sing songs!Wear tall heals and play dress up so youre tall and big like an enderman!  

What to watch: DanTDM, Stampy, Minecraft Story mode, Markiplier and Jacksepticeyes minecraft play throughs. Or any minecraft youtubers/streamers!

1993

    In Montana there is a dig for what is considered the oldest bones on earth. These belonged to the oldest known animals to have walked the earth. Dinosaurs. At this dig site three people have just uncovered a skeleton of a velociraptor. The man wearing a straw hat and aviator sunglasses as well as plaid button up shirt was Dr. Alan Grant  world-renowned paleontologist. The woman next to him is Dr. Ellie Sattler. She specializes in prehistoric plants and is also Dr. Grant's girlfriend. The third was a man in his late teens and an upcoming  paleontologist doing his thesis paper on Velociraptors under Dr. Grant’s advice. 

This young man is remarkable as he is about to graduate college at the age of 18. This young man had worked hard and prided himself on being able to focus despite his autism. This young man impressed Dr. Grant and that was considered almost impossible given his hatred of children. This young man’s name is Rex James or Moth as he was called by Dr. grant.

“Dr. Grant! We’re ready to try again!” A random worker called and the three went over to the main tent to see if they could get a better radar image. Rex nearly laughed at how Alan made a fourteen year old kid named Owen Gradey piss his pants. Rex wasn’t one to talk much around crowds. He had fifteen hundred thing on his mind at any given time so it was better he didn’t. After the demonstration of the new technology a helicopter flew overhead nearly undoing the hard work that had taken months.

Rex still didn’t know how he found himself sitting in a jeep next to Dr. Ian Malcolm along with Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler. When they came to a stop. A large moving animal ate leaves from the top of a tree. The only thing off..it was a brachiosaurus. Rex stood next to Ellie and Alan as they lost their minds and Rex wasn’t far behind. Rex could vaguely hear the lawyer say ‘We’re going to make a foruton with this place’ which pissed Rex off. Here before his eyes was the most incredible scientific discovery in history and all he could think of was money.

“Dr. Grant, My dear Dr. Sattler, Mr. James, Welcome to Jurassic park. Later in a dark room with projectors all six sat at a round table eating lunch. Ian was getting into an argument with Hamond and for the first time that day Rex spoke up.  “I agree with Ian here. While I have seen things here today that in eighteen years on this earth i never thought i’d be able to see we are messing with the one thing that shouldn't be messed with, nature. However, John, I'm willing to wait until the end of the tour.” Everyone was shocked by how Rex spoke. It wasn’t everyday you heard an eighteen year old speak as thoughtfully as Rex had.

It was decided that Rex would ride with Ian, Alan and Ellie. It was dark and stormy now. They were waiting for the storm to pass so they could go back to the Visitor center. Ian and Rex had been talking and had grown a bond. It was almost as if Ian was a father to Rex. Then the T-Rex blew out of her paddock. As Ian tried and failed to divert Rexy away Rex went to check on him when Rexy saw him. Rex thought his life was over. But Rexy had other plans for him. She let out a roar that caused Rex to age backward. Where once stood an eighteen year old now stood a two year old. Rex crawled to the ruins of the bathroom and curled around Ian. When Ellie came to retrieve Alan she didn’t expect to find a two year old Rex and a badly injured Ian. As Ellie hefted Rex into her arms her heart melted and broke at the same time. She knew how hard Rex had worked but at the same time Rex can get the childhood he deserves. 

Rex came from his slumber while on the way to the emergency bunker. “Hey there, How are you Moth?” Ellie asked, brushing the hair out of Rex’s eyes. “Ellie, me all wittle!” Rex exclaimed, remembering his de-ageing. “I can see. And there's some bad news.” Elilie said hoping beyond hope that Rex wouldn’t have the reaction she was predicting. Rex knew the second she said ‘bad news’ that it wasn’t reversible. He didn’t scream or kick or yell, all he did was lay his head on Ellie’s shoulder. Ian was in awe at how Rex was able to keep calm. 

“You know, Kelly’s been begging for a little brother.” Ian said while motioning for ellie to put Rex in his arms. Hammond smiled at the scene and vowed that he’d do everything to help 

Rex. 

Once the contingent was in the air Rex was feeling very sleepy but was afraid that he’d lose his adult mind. Malcolm saw this and held him tighter. “You know, I, uh, don’t care if, uh, you become the dumbest, uh, most droolliest, uh, baby ever I’ll take care of you.” Rex’s eyes were dropping dangerously. Everyone smiled at the soon to be father and son. “Sleep my little dinosaur king.” Ian said as Rex fell asleep. As it turned out the dinosaurs weren’t the only ones given second chances.
