The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call

I enjoyed watching this series. It stresses the importance of trauma centers and the struggle to fund those specialization in hospitals. It's frustrating to see how the administration staff in this hospital didn't care about patients and only focused on their greed. Dr. Baek's unconventional ways get him what he wants and he builds a team that gives it their all. I like the relationship between Dr. Baek, Jae Won, Nurse Cheon, Gyeong Won and later Dr. Han. When Dr. Baek says he is the god, Jae Won is the son and Nurse Cheon is the ghost I laughed so hard. It had a bit of everything - comedy, action and some drama. The medical situations might not be the most accurate but we forgive the literary licenses for the sake of the plot.

It was a good 8 episode ride.

I have the webtoon in my list of must read, so let's see how different both versions are.

Takım elbiseler, yüksek binalar, güç kavgaları yok.

Han Ji-Yul(Choo Yeong-Woo) büyük şehirde veterinerlik yaparken büyükbabasının sağlık sorunu nedeni ile köye onu ziyarete gelir. Büyükbabası da bir nevi köyün veterineridir ve torunu onun yerine köyün veterinerlik işlerine bakmak zorunda kalır. Köyde polislik yapan Ahn Ja-Young(Joy) ile “tesadüfen” karşılaşmalar sonucu yakınlaşır. Lee Sang-Hyeon(Baek Sung-Chul) ise polis kızımızın yaşıtı ve yakın arkadaşıdır. İşte dizi 3 gencin etrafında dönen kısa ve anlık durumlardan oluşuyor.

Birçok köyde geçen diziyi anımsatsa da, diğer köy dizilerindeki karakterler gibi dramatik geçmişler konu edilmemişti. Aksine bu dizide kırsal kesim ne kadar mutlu mesajı veriyordu. O kadar gündelik bir hikayeydi ki, yer yer kopukluklar oluyordu. İkili konuşmalardaki sakinlik zaman zaman sıkıcı bir hal alabiliyordu. Aradığınız şey bu değilse, ya da herhangi bir şey arıyorsanız yanlış yerdesiniz diyebilirim.

Kore dizisi olmasının verdiği yetkiye dayanarak klişe bir şey yapalım diye düşünmüş, ellerindeki sınırlı sayıdaki oyuncuya aşk üçgeni yazalım demişler. O bile yorucu olmayan alkolü kaçmış kolonya gibiydi. Aslında çocukken tanışmışlar başlığı yapılan ikinci adım ile de klişe limitini noktalamışlar. Üzerine de küçük kırsal kesim vs büyük şehir başlıklı bir kıyas serpiştirilmiş.

Özetle, uzun uzadıya anlatılabilecek bir durum söz konusu olmadığından söyleyecek başka bir şeyim yok. Sakin, sessiz, durağan ve olağan bir hikaye için bir gün ayırmak istiyorsanız, tek oturuşta bitecektir.

You guys have to know i screamed for like days in my whatsapp channel (there are only 4 ppl there, and yes, they're all my friends) just saying how beautiful and good the show is and omgvadgbejsk i'm never that confident with my recommendation list right BUT MAN,,,, YOU have to watch it like pretty pls pls 🥺 i wanna yap n simp with someone abt this

The whole crew did so good and i love how realistic the show is with the operations like wowww they also even studied from professors to learn more about the medical terms and such like awaahejsj the dedication 🫶

Aight i never really told anyone abt my taste for tv series character but man, the main character (baek kang-hyuk, played by ju ji-hoon) is so smug and i love him for it. Ju ji-hoon did such a good job in making the character come true like ???? I can't picture another guy anymore,,,, i'm sorry, it's already ingrained in my brain that ju ji-hoon will always be baek kang-hyuk 😔 his dynamic with the others (mainly just yang jae-woon, played by choo yeong-woo) is so natural and so comedy i just can't help but love em all 🥹

I might just read the webcomic atp, actually ykw yeah imma read it HAHAHAHA 💪 they said the kdrama didn't cover most of the cases that appeared in the webcomic so i meannnnn yeah why not

ALSO i gotta appreciate our beautiful n cutie pie slave no. 1 (aka yang jae-woon, he's called 'budak no. 1' in indonesia so i assume he's called slave in english?) and his traumatic experience with baek kang-hyuk HAHAHAHAH man is even more traumatised than the severe trauma team case. I love how he just cursed silently and the screamed like a madman when baek kang-hyuk finally woke up after his surgery like lmaoooo man is traumatised and just so glad his teacher woke up 😭😭😭

My fave character tho (based on looks n vibes) is the anesthesiologist ABABSJWK, park gyeong-won u cutie pie, he looks so serious but he's actually kinda silly lollll. I love how he's also like "well if i don't become the spy, then somebody else will be a real spy for the director" AND ALSO he was like "yeah i wanna join the trauma team, i've always wanted to" like awhsbdjskks man i think i just fell in love deeper but like yk it's okay it's cool ofc haha it's not like i screamed abt him so much in my whatsapp channel a few days ago-

AND THE NURSE 🥹🥹🥹 the cutie gangster 🫶 she's so admirable actually, i really love her line when she said that working as a medical personnel is not about getting recognition, it's just that someone needs to do it and for some reason, she's one of them! She works five years in the trauma team before baek kang-hyuk comes in NOT because she wants to get recognised, but it's just because someone needs to step up and do it, that's all. It really touched my heart and i feel so 🥹🫶

AND YO THE LAST LINE BEFORE THE DRAMA ENDS? "Thank you to all medical personnel for your services" or smth smth like that and i was just so 🫠 I LOVE THIS DRAMAAAA, the comedy, the heart touching scenes, i love all of em muach muach

Once Upon A Small Town

If you are in the mood of something short and sweet - this is a good option. This Korean drama is 12 episodes long, and each episode is half an hour long. The story takes place is a small countryside town where childhood friends meet up again in their twenties. It is a sweet love story. It's about friendship and living as a community. I liked it because it was light. Everyday people and everyday life situations. The audience can connect with the characters and their situations.

Again, if you are in the mood of an uncomplicated love story, that is sweet and short. This is a good option.
