Der Chopok ist mit 2023,6 m Höhe nach dem Ďumbier (2043,4 m) und der Štiavnica (2025,3 m) der dritthöchste Gipfel der Niederen Tatra. Er liegt zwischen den Bergen Dereše und Konské. Seine Nordseite ist gekennzeichnet durch Steinwände und tief eingeschnittene Schluchten, die zum Nordosten hin in das Becken des Luková-Tales übergehen, wo sich Moränenreste abgelagert haben und auch noch einen kleinen See bildeten, während die Südseite mit Felsbrocken übersäte Hänge hat.

While I certainly don't mind a plate of bryndzové halušky, my fave has to be k a p u s t n i c a

A sour cabbage soup with sausage, potatoes and more, typically served on Christmas Eve.

28. does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites?

A lot of lakes, mountains and rivers? Yeah, you could say that. ✨The nature✨ is indeed quite nice here. As for my faves, well, I'm not a very outdoorsy person but I'll mention some!

The river Hornád. It flows through my hometown as well as the national park where my family used to go hiking almost every year. I had my first canoeing experience on a stretch of the Hornád (and my first flipping-over-in-a-canoe experience :))). This is basically The River At Home for me.

Skalnaté pleso (literal translation: Rocky Tarn). A small mountain lake (i.e., a tarn. what a pretty word, tarn) in the High Tatras mountains. I've been there a couple times. There is a hiking route around the lake, and the views are superb (it being in the mountains and all).

Lastly, Chopok and Kriváň as representatives of The Mountains. The former because I have actually been there (one (1) time, years ago, in winter, i also may or may not have been terrified of the prospect of skiing down its slope), the latter because it, with its crooked silhouette, is a pretty well-known symbol of my country.

ACTIVITY - as the second activity in January, i also decided to consider skiing, as I’ve been skiing quite a lot this past month, moreover as its winter, i think it is a valid choice. During this specific day, my mom and I went on the highest hill in our resort which was chopok and while it was extremely steep, in the end we skied off of it.

February Activity
