Rogers 5G – “With You”

Such a fun job on the coldest day of the year!

It is always a pleasure to get the opportunity to work with a master of his craft. I remember working on several projects with Steve Chase waaaaayyyy back in the film days of the ‘90s (yes, the 1990’s!), and I always jump at the chance to work with him. His experience with creative and client are such an asset to any production.

Along with Mr. Chase, we also worked with a fine crew lead by producer Marc Milliard, with Vinit Borrison on camera, and the incredible Mr. Alan Fellows as art director. We filmed Tyler Shaw performing his song “With You” at The Danforth Music Hall, with a crowd of 100 extras, to recreate a “packed house”. This job happened just before the initial lockdown (it was filmed in February 2020, which may as well be a decade ago).

Then, for the in-car sequence, we worked with the great guys from William F. White’s Camera Car department, lead by driver supreme, Jeff Vivan (added bonus: Mr. Peter Gross, formerly of CityPulse, as the cab driver!). And that’s part of the job; keep the crew motivated while I freeze my ass off on back of the camera car through the winter evening across the Danforth and the Bloor Viaduct at 19 degrees below zero.

Yep, it was a cold as it looks. A crazy day and night that I’ll remember forever!
