Everywhere I go in store in Conway clairol nice n easy (a brand I've used since 10th grade, and Revlon Colorsilk is one I've used since 9th grade) in dark brown is sold out or only one box left which was the shade I was dying it as of lately and it's always like this so I guess I will have to pick another shade like medium brown or go back to light brown (my color before dying it was light brown) and leave it light brown until it starts greying then just cover greys.

Hair color correction notes ToT
So hair has been bleached, and now it's over fried and grey because even the pale banana yellow has been stripped out.
Options:
1. Do a color remover method such as a. Vitamin c/dandruff shampoo/dish soap, that ion water mix color remover, or another light blonde box dye (9 1/2 or lighter) if hair may be grey because it over absorbed an ash tone. If one of these works, and you have hair with at least a slight gold base again? Use wella 7N natural dark blonde on the roots. Apply to roots, then use thin tooth comb to brush the color down just slightly to blur the line between colors. Put conditioner on the lighter blonde lengths. USE PROTEIN FILLER PLEASE OR YOUR LIGHT BLONDE WILL GET FUCKING GREY AGAIN. If you want to put a particular color on the lengths, I recommend level 9NG wella permanent if some slight gold needs to be added/protected in the lengths.
2. So you did step 1 above and it was fucked. Or you did not do step 1 above because it's white/grey because there's just no fucking gold base left. Even after a color removing method, your hair is just white/grey. Go get the Clairol Advanced Grey Semi Permanent dyes. Mix 10/4 ratio (it can be any ratio just make sure the gold color is the larger amount) 6G with 6N dye. Mix the dyes with conditioner until the color is as LIGHT as you would like. Put this mostly gold/slightly neutral color mixture into the fucked up hair. This mixture should ADD gold back in (thank fuck). The ratio can be adjusted if you need more ash tones, or more gold, or darker or lighter. This is a good method to give your hair a darker base color again if say you're trying to go from base blonde to brown ultimately. Anyway, so you've mixed 6G/6N (at level 8 blonde lightness) and now have mostly neutral colored hair. If your roots are too warm at this point? Use 5A (light ash brown) mixed with 6N and apply to roots. If you want the color to be a bit lighter than level 6 on the roots, apply conditioner until the color is light enough (which in my case was 5A/6N equal ratio with a little conditioner to level 7 lightness). Okay, so now you've got roughly neutral toned hair all over. Wooh!
3. What if last step, 2, came out overall too ashy? It DID add some gold so you're back in a natural haircolor range. But it's not gold ENOUGH. You look washed out. You know this ashy is still going to affect future colors? Or you fucked up and darkened your hair with the semi permanent dyes by going too dark (just a little too dark though like you're level 7-8 blonde now instead of the goal of level 7 roots and level 9-10 ends). Or you just want to permanently make your hair a natural color, now that the base color has been put back into a roughly natural range with the semi permanent dyes? That's me NOW lmao.
Slap some 9NG wella in that baby! Put it primarily in the lengths and where ashy buildup is (about 2 inches from the root), leave it on as long as you'd leave on dye for grey coverage (since it will work on the grey hairs longer), so around 45 minutes. About 15-20 minutes before you'll rinse, put the last of the 9NG you mixed into the roots. If you want the roots to be closer to the same color as the rest of the hair, or lighten it a little, or bring that same neutral warm tone up to them too. (Wella 9NG worked excellent on my hair and I think next time I might just use that on my fucking roots too and avoid this kind of mess of a process in the future lol)
The left was after the semi permanent dyes (6N/6G with conditioner on lengths and 5A/6N with conditioner on roots). A roughly natural shade color was reached, but was slightly too ashy and green for my taste. The right picture is after the 9NG wella permanent dye. The color is a bit golder with a bit less green. While also looking like a natural shade, not super gold to the point of looking brassy.

seraph, do you have any tips on installing a lace front?? ☹️ im still a beginner and i’ve been too scared to wear this wig out in public, but one day i did bc i had to take pictures and SO many people gave me weird looks and laughed at me. i didn’t even take pictures, i just went home and cried 😭
i bought a new that was $300 & the quality of the lace is so much better, but im still scared to go out in public with it on. i wanna send a picture but im too shy to come off anon 🥺
ok ok YES I DO! i do my hair myself but i’m also a beginner as well and there are a few videos that helped me out throughout the whole process so i’ll link them for you!
how to install a lacefront.
arnell actually had another video better explaining it but i think she deleted it :(
how to bleach knots.
there’s other steps in this video but i just watch it for the bleaching part.
also, i use 40 developer and clairol white bleach powder.
how to do the bald cap method.
i also recommend shaving your sideburns back a little so that everything lays flat. the problem i had with laying a wig down was that my sideburns were getting in the way and i’d get lifting on the sides.
how to pluck a lacefront.
plucking is crucial to making a wig look natural! it’s kinda a tedious task but once you get the hang of it, it starts to get easy.
how to dye wig jet black (optional).
now this step is completely optional, you don’t have to dye the wig black but i personally do because i don’t like dark brown hair on me.
and what i use to lay down my wigs are got2b glued (black tube) and the got2b freeze spray. i squeeze some gel out of the tube in a plastic cup or just onto the counter (i clean it up when i’m done) and then spray a little bit of the spray over it. i had a bad experience with lace glues so i avoid them and the got2b gives me a lace glue like hold anyway.
i apply about three thin layers (blow drying between each one) to the edge of my wig cap/hairline, then i dry down each layer with my blow dryer on cool and the lightest air setting. i put the wig on while the lace is still on and match the wig hairline to the glue (make sure nothing is too far down on your forehead cause that’s really unnatural) and from there i take my scarf and lay it down for about thirty minutes.
when i come back, i remove my scarf, use AN EYEBROW RAZOR to cut the lace and make sure you don’t cut too much but don’t cut too little. since the glue has the lace stuck just follow the areas that are not stuck.
also ALWAYS TRY ON YOUR WIG BEFORE YOU INSTALL! see how it fits on your head, if you wanna cut some of the sideburns off because it’s over your ear, or if it needs to be tightened in the back! i wish you nothing but great luck for this wig!!!´͈ ᵕ `͈ ♡°◌̊

how hard is it to dye your hair silver? like what products do you use?
Oof, ah. Let me see. I'm very much not a professional hair person or cosmetologist at all, but I can tell you what I do know regarding my own experiences.
Firstly, if you have darker hair (or hair that is not blond), silver is quite honestly a pain in the ass. I wish I didn't look so good with it because of how much effort I put into it. Alas. Pride before the fall and all that. Everything under the cut because there's a lot!
My hair is naturally an average dark brown color, and so I bleach it first. I cannot tell you the brand; Salem bleaches mine and she's been doing hair for years. That said, if you have never bleached your own hair, I absolutely do not recommend trying it yourself. Mine took two rounds of bleaching to lighten it enough, spread out over about a month to prevent damage. During this time, switch to a purple shampoo and conditioner. I used Clairol for a while, but it's rather thin and I recently switched to something with a better viscosity, but a shop like Sally's Beauty will have a good selection and they can help you find something. Purple shampoo and conditioner helps to reduce brassy/orange tones in blond and silver hair. If I notice my hair beginning to look too blond, I'll leave the conditioner in for 30-60 minutes to reduce those tones.
After bleaching (and waiting an appropriate hair recovery time), I dye it silver. I've used a few different dyes (Arctic Fox came out well for me). Generally the color fades within a month; during this time, use the purple shampoo, cold water, and try to wash your hair as little as possible - dry shampoo is your best friend. I will sometimes supplement with box dye because my hair is hardy enough for it. I use L'Oreal, which has amazing staying power, but as a warning, I do end up with borderline blue hair for a day or two while it fades to silver (I give it a wash with normal shampoo to help it fade).
If your hair grows irritatingly fast like mine, you'll start to see roots come up. I actually leave the back of my hair unbleached, so I have a bit of brown below that matches the roots and looks intentional rather than ill-kempt, but that's personal preference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My dye order is running late, can you tell? 😂 Anyway, this is about how light I have to get the blond for the silver to take well.
Silver is a fun color, but it is a lot of work at first to get things going. Once you have the habits down, I find it's second nature. But of course, my hair experiences are not universal, so I ultimately don't know how my habits would translate to others' hair types. I strongly recommend talking to a professional (or very, very experienced friend) before attempting anything yourself.

for tzuyu’s hair my hair is a similar color it’s like a cool toned blonde, but hers is a bit more grey so im wondering if she has some highlights or something in them to add more grey?? to have exactly what she has i think you’d have to get it professionally done :( BUT if you want it similar as least for a base there’s a clairol box color that’s like ‘cool medium’ toned blonde that could get you closer to that color without going to the salon
Yeah omg her hair looks a different color in every picture I see so there’s gotta be some demensions.....n yeah I probably definitely need to go to the salon to achieve a blonde because my hair is dark red right now lol. I COULD bleach it myself but I just can’t get myself to do that. I was also interested in ‘Bambi brown’ that’s trendy right now which might be more doable for me by myself

Playing with Color...a Crash Course on Hair
Tumblr media
I’ve loved playing with color and hair since I was a kid. I was the one who was constantly trying to put my Barbies’ (or rather Christie as Barbies were rare around my house) and other dolls’ hair into complicated styles. Fast forward to when I was old enough to have my autonomy recognized, and I was always interested in seeing what I could do with my hair.
The first time I ever wore extensions was in college and it was a safety net as much as a cute style. I got braids because I wasn’t sure what kind of hair stylists I would find near my university and I didn’t want to take chances. And then I fell in love with extensions and wore them all the time. Then in my mid 20s I went natural and decided that if I wanted to play with texture or color, I would wear extensions, otherwise, I’d embrace my own curl.
And this year, now that I’m a WAHM who isn’t working with conservative clients anymore, I’ve decided to be more adventurous and take risks when it comes to fashion, makeup and hair. So, to that end, I bought this really cute lavender purple wig from Amazon at the beginning of the year, but I put off really playing with it until now. And after a few tweaks, it turned into this super cute style that—although I wouldn’t rock all the time—would make a great alternative on days when I want to be unique.
This got me thinking about how many brides might turn to extensions to help achieve a hairstyle on their big day. But for a lot of people, extensions and wigs can be intimidating if you’ve never worn them. So, to that end, here’s a crash course on wigs. And as a frame of reference, while I normally wear full lace human hair wigs, this purple girl is a synthetic lace front. For the curious, I love fantasy colors, but a color like this isn’t something I’d wear all the time, so a cheapie synthetic is a smarter option.
Unless you go with a custom unit, all stock wigs need to be tweaked
As an example this girl I’m wearing has gone through three rounds of customization.
When I first bought her, she was ridiculously long. So I trimmed about five to six inches off the back and she’s still sitting at mid back length.
This girl came with about three inches of lace front that was set as a free part—meaning you can part it in any direction you prefer. But I love a deep side part, usually on my right side. So to “force” the part, I tweezed the frontal portion to create this clean part.
Normally, if you order from a better brand/store, you can specify lace colors, even for stock units. But when you order from Amazon and it’s this cheap (less than $40), you get whatever they give you. So, if you’re not “nude” that lace is going to be a big “look at me sign”. To make it look more believable, I used foundation on the underside of the wig to make it better match my color.
With this particular wig, she’s a tad big. So, even though there are adjustable straps to help tighten her down, she’s still a little loose on me. To the point that you could clearly see a space between my head and the wig. So, I sewed a piece of elastic (like what you can buy in fabric stores for making waistbands, etc) into the cap to give me a snugger fit.
Also something I’ve never experienced with a wig was the fact that this was made in such a way that the front hairline sort of stands up like someone lightly teased the hair. In theory it would be cute. But since I don’t glue my wigs down (I like my edges and I have adhesive sensitivities), you could clearly see my sideburns where the wig isn’t attached because the hair had too much height and fell at an awkward place. So, I took a large barrel curling iron (~2 inches) and on a low heat setting (220F to 240F because it’s synthetic and synthetics typically can’t handle heat) gently pressed it onto the front hairline to make it lay down.
Synthetic wigs can be shiny so I used dry shampoo to help create more texture and minimize shine.
If you’re comfortable doing your own hair, all of these types of adjustments are easy to do and can take you as little as an hour total. If you’re not, find a friend who’s good at hair or take your wig/extensions to a stylist who can hook you up.
Although I didn’t do it with this wig, I normally also do a serious cut and color as well. And the color process usually includes bleaching to lift the hair and then a rinse to deposit color. But don’t use bleach on synthetic hair, it’ll damage it!!! I’ve covered these processes before so if you want more info on the basics of hair coloring, head on over to my Overtone or Clairol articles.
Tumblr media
Full disclosure because I’m not much of a photo editor normally. But this particular wig, even though it looks undetectable under natural light photography (pic above) and to the naked eye, has a hairline that looks like a beacon when you use a ring light. So, even after all the customizing I did, because I don’t glue my wigs and the front hairline fit is a tad funky, it left a pretty serious line of demarcation. So, I had to go in and clean up that line on my ring light pics because it was ridiculously unsightly.
And since I decided to be adventurous with this wig, I also wanted to do a playful makeup look that hyped up that aspect. So, I created this fun rose gold and purple look that’s also way outside of my comfort zone. I amped up the eyes and placed three (yes three!) different type of highlights to create that high wattage effect you see. Even though this is way bolder than I would normally go, it’s also pretty wearable. I ended up having to run errands after I finished my makeup and got a few compliments for the hour I was out. Full makeup details are below.
And if you’re in love with this wig and want to make it your own, head on over to Amazon and go shopping.
Tumblr media
(In the pic above you can see how the hair seems lifted from the roots. That’s the awkward tease effect I was talking about earlier. In the pic below you see that I was able to force the hair to submit with my curling iron.)

Okay so I used clairol advanced gray semi permanent dye for the first time ever. I'm absolutely beyond impressed.
I've used Clairol Jazzed before (the pink one because of course I tried pink) and it lasted 1 fucking wash, 1 fucking day, I was charged like 50 dollars by the salon that put it in and had to redo it myself the day of the wedding when my hair was meant to be pink. So naturally, because of that experience I had avoided ever buying Clairol semi permanent dyes again.
But my hair was bleached to white, lacking any gold tones, and the problem is every "natural color" dye generally is formulated with the expectation you are at LEAST putting the dye on pale banana yellow hair, or light gold hair, since that's how much most people lighten their hair. They don't make most "natural color dye" formulations for fools like me that over processed their poor fucking hair to paper white then accidentally stained them with ash so they're fucking grey ;-; no. No generally there's no fucking dye options to add gold to hair with absolutely no base gold. I usually slap pink, peach, or rose gold into hair when I've fucked up and bleached ALL yellow out of my hair, because pinks add gold back in. Pinks turn your hair pink, then fade to golden blonde. Thankfully. But alas, this time? I added peach and my hair just got silvery/whiter rather than dull grey. It still didnt get enough gold added ;-;
So I go to Sally's, asking if there's anything that will deposit golden tones to hair that's lacking any gold to begin with. Since usually, a natural blonde dye will have some violet or blue (or green if you pick a dark blonde) because the dye is meant to neutralize the slight gold tint hair is when lightening. Natural color dye does not actually get made to be put on paper white (or grey) canvasses of hair. So at Sally's, they suggest GREY COVERAGE dyes. Since natural grey hair also lacks that light Yellow base. Further, they suggest semi permanent so I can mix it with conditioner to control the color outcome better. Finally, they suggest I get both a 6G and a 6N so I can mix a tiny bit of 6N just in case the gold on its own alone (or at least as the overpowering color in 6G) doesn't hit the blue-greyish hair I've got currently and turn swamp colored (the 6N can add some of those ash tones the 6G expects on natural hair so the dye comes out closer to expected).
I do like 20 squirts of my conditioner, 20 squirts of 6G and 6 squirts of 6N. (Beforehand I do a patch test of just 6G, and 6G mixed with 6N. Both turn out golden blonde so I go with mixing both colors so my roots don't get super warm, since my roots aren't grey only the platinum lengths). Turns out: perfect natural looking golden blonde.
I decide to go over it again with just the 6N (neutral) mixed with conditioner (20 squirts conditioner 20 6N dye), because now that there's gold base in my hair I can put a neutral dye in and get a result I expect. I do, it's now a neutral-ashy blonde (but my hair tends to pull ashy quite easily). Since it's semi permanent, it's likely to fade. As long as the gold color clings longer I should be fine (gold generally does hold out longer, since people always complain about brassiness when their toners fade lol). Once it fades? My plan is just continue what I've been doing, shadow roots on myself to blur the growth line, and keeping my lengths some shade of natural looking blonde ToT.
Anyway I'm so fucking impressed with the clairol advanced grey semi permanent line. 1. They work fine on actual grey (or ashy as all hell greenish/bluish hair) 2. They can therefore ADD gold back into hair (or add reds if you fucked up and turned a brown color super ashy). This is great cause very few products can add warmth back in. (Before this, pink dye was literally the only thing I'd ever tried that managed to add gold back in). 3. You can control the light/darkness of the outcome by adding conditioner when mixing, just like if it was a rainbow color like pink. (For example I used 6G and 6N, but with conditioner I lightened them to a level 8 blonde. And for the test strands I did level 9 lightness). It's rare I've seen the ability to control lightness with dyes that come in natural shades. 4. They come out true to color. I got pretty much exactly what was promised on the bottle. The 6G dominant mixture I made gave me a solid Golden Blonde (level 8 with the conditioner mix). The 6N only mixture with conditioner I did later gave me a fairly neutral level 8 blonde (my hair pulled slightly ashy because my bleached hair has less gold than normal hair lol but still overall fairly neutral). I can say the color came out very close to the color of the conditioner mixture, just like if I was using a pink dye. 4. Very even coverage. This is good or bad depending on perspective. The good is I think it would provide good grey coverage by darkening grey hair to the surrounding hair color. The downside is I had an ombre and now its much less noticeable as the lighter hair was darkened... but it's a semi permanent so it'll fade. And the ombre will be clear again later lol.
Anyway, results:
Before dying, you can see it's white with pink bits, and very warm roots:
Tumblr media
This is after the 6G, a little 6N, and conditioner mix (for 1 hour):
A much more natural looking color, way more blended. My roots are still a little darker as expected. But the result was a Bit too brassy for my liking in the sun. Still, adding gold was the goal so SUCCESS LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the 6N conditioner mixture, 20 minutes:
In natural lighting, a bit less brassy. A bit more ashy, darkened my lengths a slight bit more. Quite happy with it though, as lengths are still slightly lighter and as it fades I'll preserve my highlights. My roots are still a touch brassy but 1 they're gonna be dyed over with regrowth in a couple months so not a big concern, and 2 it's my lengths over absorbing dye like crazy so like. Once the lengths are looking good, I can fuck with dying the roots whenever. The roots are likely to stay the same shade more or less, as the porous bleached hair fades faster. At least until it heals from enough protein treatments.

For a no-frills design - Those that as if to keep their residences mess complimentary as well as created along the minimalist present day styles resort to white colored to help all of them produce the preferred design in their residence. Orange can easily also represent something being actually sent out to a child as it is just one of the brighter colours. to choose from. I did get a small example of exterior home paint to check different colors however objected to most options. Stringently talking Magenta could possibly be considered a color of purple if violets are actually defined merely as combinations of blue and primarily reddish light.
