Waking up to seeing people panicking over new tumblr changes is never fun...

This is meant to be a personal/small post, so please do not reblog it. I’m only pointing a few things out from what I’ve seen myself, and I haven’t even had the chance to make coffee yet...

Most of the people panicking are fanfic writers. This will in no way really impact the roleplay community unless you are writing literal novels per reply.

“The maximum number of total content blocks allowed in a single post is 250.The maximum character length of a single text block is 4,096 characters.” Guys... Chill and do the math. In English, that is approximately 500 words per paragraph, which in a text only post would be upwards to 125,000 words. Even fanfic should be broken up better than that, tbh, because that’s 2.5 NaNoWriMo works of novel per post, or 250 pages of print.

The current owners of tumblr is Automattic, who also are the people behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Jetpack, Simplenote, Longreads, VaultPress, Akismet, Gravatar, Crowdsignal, Cloudup, and more. While they’ve had some rough patches along the way this userbase, they are better at actually listening to feedback when it comes to site functionality (not perfect, but better than the previous ones).

Headless CMS company Strapi raises another $10 million

Strapi, the company behind the popular open-source headless CMS also called Strapi, has raised a $10 million Series A round led by Index Ventures. The company previously raised a $4 million seed round led by Accel and Stride.vc in October 2019.

Strapi is a headless content management system, which means that the back end and the front end operate totally separately. You can run Strapi on your own server and write content and pages for your site by connecting to Strapi’s admin interface.

After that, the front-end part of your application can fetch content from your Strapi instance using an API and display it to your customers and readers.

There are many advantages in separating the front end from the back end. First, it gives you a ton of flexibility when it comes to displaying your content. You can use a popular front-end framework, such as React, Vue and Angular, or develop your own custom front end.

When you want to update the design of your site, you can just switch from one front end to another with Strapi running like usual behind the scene.

Similarly, it offers more flexibility when it comes to server architecture. For instance, you could also leverage Strapi to build static websites and distribute them using a content delivery network, such as Cloudflare or AWS Cloudfront. You could imagine using Gatsby combined with a CDN to deploy your site on the edge. Most of your traffic will go through your CDN instead of hitting your servers directly.

Additionally, Strapi can be used to distribute content to different front ends. For instance, you could use a Strapi instance for the content of your website and your mobile app.

Strapi proves that eventually everything becomes an API. Sure, a headless CMS is probably overkill for most projects. But if you’re running a large scale application, Strapi can fit nicely in your architecture. Companies using Strapi include IBM, NASA and Walmart.

Many well-known open-source business angels have also invested in Strapi, such as Augusto Marietti and Marco Palladino from Kong, David Cramer from Sentry, Florian Douetteau from Dataiku, Solomon Hykes from Docker, Guillermo Rauch from Cloudup, Socket.io, Next.js and Zeit.co, and Eli Collins from Cloudera.

Mencoba Image Hosting di SIRV

Saat ini saya lebih prefer untuk menyimpan gambar di image hosting luar daripada menggunakan native image hosting bawaan dari tumblr, blogger atau lainnya.

Alasannya karena nanti lebih mudah untuk di export ke blog lain tanpa harus bingung download dan upload lagi file imagenya.

Beberapa image hosting (dan juga image CDN) yang saya gunakan sampai saat ini adalah Cloudinary dan Cloudup, tambah satu lagi yang baru yaitu SIRV.

Sekilas Review SIRV

Ketika pertama kali mendaftar kita diberikan gratis 5GB penyimpanan gambar selama 30 hari, setelah itu berbayar sekitar $19/bulan.

Jika tidak ingin berbayar dan cukup dengan penyimpanan minimal. Anda bisa lanjut menggunakan versi gratisannya dengan penyimpanan 0,5GB alias 500MB saja.

4. Color

Untuk mengatur hue, saturation dan hightlights.

5. Effects

Anda bisa mengubah warna gambar tanpa harus menggunakan aplikasi editing gambar langsung menggunakan sirv dengan fitur color filternya.

Dan terakhir ada fitur frame untuk membuat bingkai pada gambar anda.

6. Text dan Watermarks

Fitur ini tak kalah penting jika anda sering mengupload hasil karya fotografi anda agar tidak diklaim orang yang tak bertanggung jawab sebagai hasil karyanya sendiri.

Anda bisa menambahkan tulisan ataupun watermarks dari logo anda di gambar yang anda upload dan sharing nantinya.

Image Sharingnya juga beragam ada yang menggunakan static image, responsive image, Sirv Zoom (cocok untuk file ecommerce), Url Sharing dan juga Sirv mendukung plugin untuk Magento, Prestashop dan Wordpress.
