Germaphobia is the easiest way to explain to strangers that you dont want to be touched. I dont like shaking hands or hugging people Im not familiar with. But strangers feel entitled to an explanation for some reason. He brings up pathogens when a stranger wants to shake hands and avoids touching strangers by waving or walking behind him. He might just be touch averse using germs as a cover.

oddly enough, this is a headcanon that i love for fics! i'm also touch-averse and have used the germophobia line before lmao.

my comment mostly comes from me taking the show at face value, specifically with 13x02 in mind when spencer himself brings up his germaphobia to jj and luke after he's released from prison.

i'm otherwise in agreement w you tho, anon! people DO sometimes weirdly make it all about themselves when you so much as reject a handshake lol. it's just one of those things i wish cm paid more attention to.
