Criminal Minds Evolution (Season 2) filming has been delayed from previously estimated April to the end of June 🎞️🎥
Tumblr media
Unclear if the the scripts were completed prior to the strike (Erica Messer is—or at least at some point, was—a WGA member. Kirsten Vangsness is also a member). Also unclear whether the strike will delay anything.
We support writers’ strikes in this household. We can wait… and we can write in the meantime 🫶

Hi!! For the CM Asks: 9, 25 and 30 please! 😊
Hello lovely, thank you so much!
9) Why did you start watching Criminal Minds? My best friend was a fan and she spent years trying to get me into it but I am a stubborn ox and always refused. One day she literally deposited season 1-12 (maybe 11) on DVD at my apartment. They still remained unwatched for at least a few months but one day boredom got the better of me and I put one on. That was nearly six years ago and here we are now 😅
25) Favorite headcanon - most of my headcanons revolve around unsub Spencer most recently. My favourite right now is probably that during CM Evolution Spencer wasn’t really on “special assignment” he’s on some kind of vigilante mission and s2 of CME will be the team tracking one of their hardest to catch unsubs to dates and it would be revealed right at the last moment that it was Spencer.
30) Why you love writing for Criminal Minds! I find it comforting, knowing the show so well there is an ease to writing for it in that it doesn’t require too much thought and sometimes I like to just not think 🤣 also I love it because I am surrounded by so many talented writers and have made so many wonderful friends (you included in both of those) thanks to writing for this crazy ass fandom!
Send me a Criminal Minds Ask 🖤

cm evolution spoilers i have simply got one thing to say
when emily prentiss said “a long time ago gideon told me to make sure i didn’t go quiet because it meant i stopped trusting my team” ….. !!!!!!!!!
now maybe it’s just because i have 2 chapters left of a s2 fic where i’m trying to fucking write him mentoring her but also! miss goes quiet herself having to dispatch that advice and mean it… and finally some decent memoriam for gideon considering the absolute piss on his memory that was the death of gideon episode…
also when rossi goes “you’re a better person than me” to her and she pulls a face? this is such minor beef but months ago i saw someone post some truly wild thing about how all emily prentiss wanted was to be a good person which struck me as totally out of whack with everything about her and also like, entirely beyond how she thinks about morality and her own status, and anyway my point is that her reaction struck me as less “no i’m not frowny frowny tormented woe” and more like “what the fuck are you talking about. i cannot say this because you’re hurting. but what the fuck.” probably a niche take! but like the good/bad person thing (e.g. reid in prison arc) has always struck me as one of the show’s most obvious deteriorations in quality, since it’s not really its lexicon early on— there’s a backslide from “what allows us to do what we do? how can we draw moral distinctions? how can we uphold a sense of rightness?” to some very babybrained good/bad ontological nonsense.
it’s also interesting that the like, “you’re a better person than me” bit essentially hinges on the fact that she’s their boss and doing her job— like the ethical (nay, moral?) burdens in the show always correspond to hierarchy, so emily letting rossi get away with shit has a positive moral valence, whereas him doing shit has a negative one. again i think the way this show assigns goodness and badness (where once it assigned rightness and wrongness, righteousness and deviance, etc.) is so fascinating and it’ll be interesting to see where emily prentiss better person arc takes us

Not So Gray As It Seems
The exhibition Toward a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948-1980 introduces the story how particularity and unity produced a great diversity of architectural language and expressions. The topic is presented for the very first time in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

In a conversation with one of the curators Vladimir Kulić we discover that “Yugoslavia is a kind of a reminder that architecture had wider social responsibility in transforming society and working for people beyond the wealthiest.”

Mr. Kulić, you divided the exhibition in four parts, modernization, global networks, everyday life and identities; Can you explain why such a structure?
With this structure we tried to capture some of the defining conditions under which architecture in Yugoslavia developed. The first condition was the project of reconstruction and modernization after WWII. The transformation of cities, technologies and society was the defining framework under which entire construction of Yugoslav architecture occurred. The second condition was very specific and rather unusual geo-political situation of the county, widely connected with the rest of the world. Skopje is a great example, where a city became an architecture meeting ground for the entire world. In addition, architects from the region previously had never built anywhere outside of the region; that changed after the war as well.

Another defining condition was a very specific texture of everyday life. Mass housing in Yugoslavia was in some ways quite unique due to a great deal of experimentation with housing typologies. The emergence of modern design and the related consumer culture added to this specific texture of everyday life, architects were fundamentally instrumental in it, because it was through them that modern design came into existence in Yugoslavia. Finally, multiculturalism of Yugoslavia was yet another defining feature. Multiple architectural cultures were developed in different parts of the country, and yet they interacted with each other and they worked under the same conditions. This kind of dynamic between particularity and unity is something that produced a great deal of diversity in terms of architectural language and expressions. Interaction between different cultures is a big issue of our current moment, so Yugoslavia is interesting case study in that respect.

Why should a US citizen really care about an exhibition about building in Yugoslavia?
I think they are two reasons. One is that this exhibition breaks a new ground for American audience as well for the audience anywhere in the West in the sense that it shows that modern architecture also flourished outside of the canonical region where we normally assume it was accepted. When you read histories of modern architecture, the geographical areas that are covered are mostly Western Europe and United States. This exhibition is a case study that demonstrates that innovative, interesting architecture was built outside of this canonical area. In particular it shows that inspired architecture existed also in what used to be the former socialist world. Yugoslavia is a great example that tells that the story is much more complicated.

And for another?
Second reason why I think it is interesting to the American audience is the current political moment. After four decades of neoliberalism we are finally starting to see a renewed appreciation for the architecture’s role in the construction of the civic and public realm, for the communal rather than private. In the US in particular architecture has been largely reduced to kind of window dressing for the super wealthy. The amount of architectural thinking that used to be at one point distributed among the population much more widely is now concentrated in hand of the one percent. Yugoslavia in that sense is a kind of a reminder that architecture had wider social responsibility in transforming society and working for people beyond the wealthiest, beyond the one percent.

Why did you choose the time frame between 1948 and 1980?
The dates are chosen both on architectural and historical criteria. We had to narrow down the topic and one of the greatest challenges was selecting and cutting down the amount of material to make the exhibition manageable. The two dates refer to two historical turning points. One is Yugoslavia’s break with Soviet Union in 1948, the other is Tito’s death in 1980. However these are also architectural turning points. After 1948 the attempted imposition of socialist realism very quickly dies off, and after 1980 we are entering in an architecture period of postmodernism.

The exhibition claims: Yugoslavia was an experiment?
Yugoslavia was no doubt an experiment. It went through a constant evolution. In that sense the title “Toward a concrete utopia”is appropriate. Not just in the most obvious sense, that we are talking about concrete architecture, but also in reference to Ernest Bloch’s concept of concrete utopia, which emphasizes the idea of a society in perpetual becoming, utopia as a process in constant transformation. Yugoslavia was in that sense indeed a utopia because it was in constant search of improvement. The exhibition argues that much of the architecture produced in Yugoslavia was quite experimental. The question is whether the experiment failed.
And?
In the most developed capitalist countries the modernization and urbanization occurred through extreme sacrifices from the working class. We could speculate that the price of modernization in Yugoslavia was more justly distributed. Yugoslavia’s failure was ultimately to reproduce its own system, which something that capitalism achieves successfully, despite the constant cycles of crises.

Besides modernism and brutalism, structuralism, metabolism and postmodernism were also dominant in Yugoslavia. How does the exhibition convey this very elaborate architectural vocabulary?
One of the ways in which we tried to convey this diversity is through four monographic rooms dedicated to individual architects, who were among the most prominent professional figures. They are Vjenceslav Richter, Edvard Ravnikar, Juraj Neidhardt and Bogdan Bogdanović. Their wildly divergent personal oeuvres illustrate the extreme diversity of architectural approaches, methods, expressions and languages cultivated in Yugoslavia. Richter was at the core of the neoavant-garde movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Bogdanović was the product of the surrealist movement dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. Neidhart was perhaps the most interesting figure of critical regionalism, whereas Ravnikar, was a great synthesizer of architectural ideas, from Plečnik, to Le Corbusier and Aalto. Despite their differences, all four of these architects contributed to the construction of the most politically significant structures in the country, from parliament buildings and exhibition pavilions, to World War II monuments. That kind of diversity of representational languages was rare elsewhere.

All four are men...
One of my favorite exhibits in the show is the photo of Milica Šterić sitting in an office in Energoprojekt  headquarters in Belgrade with clients from Africa. Surrounded by standing white men who listen to them. This image tells about this subversion of traditional race and gender hierarchies, demonstrating the truly utopian dimension of Yugoslavia, which attempted to liberate and empower all kinds of groups that were disfranchised throughout history, including women.
Tumblr media

Just like Milica Šterić?
Milica Šterić was significant as an architect but even more importantly as an architectural manager, who was able to successfully negotiate contracts throughout Africa and the Middle East. Another well-connected woman was Svetlana Radević, who was awarded the national prize for architecture in the 1960s. After that she studied with Louis Kahn, worked with Kisho Kurokawa, spend time in Switzerland and Japan and was able to produce a great deal of interesting advanced architecture. I don’t want to say that Yugoslavia was some kind of feminist paradise because women were still the minority in the architectural and they had a hard time breaking the glass ceiling, but deliberate efforts at their inclusion where nevertheless made.
How was housing developed in Yugoslavia comparing to other Eastern European countries?
A short answer would be mass housing in Yugoslavia was also rather diverse. After WWII, not just in Eastern Europe but in Western Europe as well, standardization, typification and industrialization of housing were the orders of the day because huge numbers of people were left homeless. In some East European countries like the GDR and Czechoslovakia standardization and typification were extremely successful. The Soviet Union produced what we could be termed the largest architectural modernization project in the world with 30 million apartments, again based on standardized designs.
And in Yugoslavia?
In Yugoslavia that never happened, in part due to the early decentralization. In some ways, it was a failure of the postwar ideal of mass industrial construction, but the side effect was the avoidance of the kind of urban monotony known in some other parts of Europe.

Is it possible to distinguish housing from tourism architecture, which at the same time hat great success?
Tourism architecture was one of the success stories in Yugoslavia. By the time mass tourism started exploding on the Adriatic in the early 1960s there were already some experiences with the development of the mass tourism elsewhere on the Mediterranean, which raised an awareness of the danger of uncoordinated, chaotic development. This awareness was built into the DNA of tourism architecture. There were great efforts to accommodate hundreds of thousands of tourist that were coming to the Adriatic and the same time preserve the quality of the natural environment and the historical cities. Architects developed numerous strategies for preserving the environment, carefully incorporating new architecture into the natural landscape. The body of architecture inherited from 1960s and 1970s is still instructive, carrying with itself a great deal of cultural capital that survives to this day.

What role play monuments as part of this architectural exhibition?
The monuments conclude the exhibition. They speak of an important architectural typology produced in postwar Yugoslavia, but in a way, they commemorate Yugoslavia itself. Some of the most important ones are badly damage, and their current shape serves as a reminder of the destruction of Yugoslavia. At the exit from the gallery a mural by David Maljković poses an important question: What do these derelict antifascist monuments mean for us today? It is a very important question in this current political climate. The exhibition ends with a question and a warning.

Overview of the Roidmi X20 (NEX Storm) Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
Tumblr media
In the early 80s of the last century, Deng Xiaoping set up the famous "One country, two systems" principle, which provided an effective solution to the political problems of that period. Today, Chinese companies are successfully using this principle in the economy, creating highly efficient associations of independent companies as part of a more powerful business structure. At the same time, many sub-brands operate in the same segment, often competing with each other. For example, Xiaomi Roidmi and Xiaomi Jimmy produce cordless vacuums. The flexibility of this system ensures the optimal balance between the resources of a powerful parent company, including its reputation and technologies, and the efficiency of smaller sub-brands, including their initiative and variability. Among modern Chinese giants, ZTE became the founder of this trend, creating in 2012 Nubia Technology as a subsidiary. In 2013, Huawei created Honor. In the future, Zuk, Motorola and Medion became subsidiaries of Lenovo. Vivo, Oppo and OnePlus were created by BBK Electronics. In the past few years, smartphones under these brands have been successfully competing in almost all world markets. Xiaomi, the Chinese giant, is one of the leaders in this business technology. Xiaomi Ecosystem effectively uses crowdfunding (crowd + funding) platforms for the development of startups since 2010. Today, it unites more than 200 successful independent companies in almost all segments of consumer electronics, and its logo with a funny hare is known on all continents.
Tumblr media
Xiaomi Roidmi was created in 2015 to develop and manufacture smart devices for cars.
Tumblr media
According to many experts, today Roidmi, along with MiJia (robotic vacuums), AirOP (air purification), VioMi (water purification), XiaoYi (cameras), etc is among the most successful sub-brands of Xiaomi Ecosystem.
Xiaomi Roidmi
As known, this company developed popular Xiaomi Roidmi 3S Bluetooth Car Charger (smart adapter for car radio) and Xiaomi Roidmi Anti-BluRay Glasses B1 (protection against blue light). In addition, Roidmi has developed several excellent cordless vacuums, including mattress M8, nano, Z1 sterilizing, P1 handheld, S1, S1 Special, S1E, S2, etc. The table illustrates their evolution.
Tumblr media
The 2018 series, including the F8 (S1), F8S GL and F8E, was the most successful. This vacuum received several prestigious awards, including the iF Design Award and Red Dot Award 2018. Moreover, according to many experts, it has surpassed even the Dyson V8 Absolute. In particular, having practically identical specs, the F8 is significantly cheaper, has more attachments and, accordingly, provides wider functionality. Moreover, Roidmi F8 is designed for Xiaomi's “smart home” and supports the MiHome app. Budget F8E version with an unprecedented price of about $ 130 uses a less powerful electric motor. Other differences are insignificant. The intermediate F8 S GL uses a less capacious battery. Following CE approval, S1 and X20 vacuums (previously the Roidmi F8 and Nex Storm) are now sold in Europe from high-street retailers. Despite the apparent success of the F8, the company did not stop there, offering in 2019 the Roidmi X20 with improved specs and enhanced functionality.
Tumblr media
According to many experts, the novelty repeated the success of the previous model, becoming one of the best cordless vacuums of 2019. At a significantly lower price, its specs are not inferior to the famous Dyson V10 and V11.
Tumblr media
Today, Roidmi X20 claims to be the leader among cordless vacuums in the middle price segment.
Modern cordless vacuums
Traditional dust bag vacuum cleaners are reliable and productive. Unfortunately, they are rather cumbersome, not very convenient for cleaning hard-to-reach places, and their work is accompanied by a fairly high noise level. Trying to get rid their models of these cons, at the beginning of the 21st century, companies actively began to develop the direction of robot vacuums. Their efforts were successful and modern robots are drastically different from the first models. iRobot Roomba i7+ with automatic emptying function, models with wet wiping, highly effective 3D navigation, cleaning schedule and other smart functions perfectly illustrate the successes of developers. Unfortunately, robots have a significant drawback. As a rule, the suction power of most modern robotic vacuum cleaners varies around 50W. The most powerful LG CordZero A9 provides only 120AW in turbo mode. But its height of 5.63 inches (14.3 cm) excludes cleaning under low-profile furniture. Unfortunately, the low suction power of the robotic vacuums is due to an objective reason. Automatic cleaning requires the robot to effectively overcome obstacles, the ability to maneuver between furniture legs, not to get tangled in wires on the floor, etc. In turn, good maneuverability is achievable only for fairly compact models. But compactness radically limits developers when choosing a motor. As a result, modern robotic vacuums do a good job cleaning hard floors, but are not very effective at cleaning carpets even with a low pile. In addition, they are absolutely useless in terms of, for example, cleaning furniture, curtains on windows, etc. Cordless stick vacuums are a great compromise. Unlike robots, they provide higher suction power. Of course, they are significantly inferior to corded models, the best models of which provide up to 300 Air Watts (AW). But price, compactness and versatility provide them with significant pros.
The Roidmi X20 cordless vacuum cleaner
Its design conforms to the traditional minimalist style without protruding parts and controls. In fact, the model is a handle with an ergonomic bend, button start and power control, an air filter, and one of the nozzles.
Tumblr media
White and black colors with orange accents perfectly harmonize with any interior. The model is perfect for cleaning low-pile carpets, any hard floor, upholstery, PC keyboard, car interior, etc. Roidmi X20 can be positioned as the first smart cordless vacuum with a mop. It uses cyclone filtering and a brushless Engine-X motor with three power modes. The unique suction blades create 25 kPa of vacuum pressure, providing 145 AW maximum suction.
Tumblr media
The rotational speed of the motor reaches 120,000 rpm, which is commensurate with the rotation speed of the jet turbine. In addition, innovative Air-x dust separation technology with a more simple structure of direct multi-stage suction significantly reduces the loss of suction power.
Tumblr media
In particular, it prevents the accumulation of dust in the duct. The cyclone filter has six levels of purification and a two-stage filtration, providing almost perfect air purification. It includes the metal mesh for filtering large debris, dust separator, replaceable HEPA, sponge, dust filter and rear filter.
Tumblr media
According to the company, the filtration system effectively cleans the air of particles about 0.3 microns in size, removing up to 99.9% of allergens. The dustbin holds 13.5 oz or 0.4 liters, which is enough to clean three medium-sized rooms. Unfortunately, it requires manual emptying.
Attachments
Roidmi X20 has a gorgeous package.
Tumblr media
The main brush has a microfiber coating and LEDs. Light sensor automatically turns on the LED light, for example, under furniture.
Tumblr media
The main brush uses one of the two brush rollers.
Tumblr media
Universal brush with flexible nylon bristles combined with a rubber strip and a propeller design easily removes hairs of animals and hair without these being coiled around the brush. The second soft roller brush from nylon velvet is ideal for cleaning any hard surface. A button on the side of the nozzle provides a very simple replacement. The company calls it the new generation of water resistant soft rolling brush.
Tumblr media
Considering the mop mode, this innovation is especially important, since a usual soft roller will quickly collapse from constant moisture. Mattress brush very effectively removes dust mites from furniture and pillows.
Tumblr media
The nozzle with flexible hose is designed to clean hard-to-reach areas, including corners, crevices, furniture folds, etc. The mini brush can be manually rotated 360 °.
Tumblr media
It's ideal for cleaning the curtains, tablecloths, sofas, PC keyboards and much more. The nozzle for Vacuum Mop Combo mode is a water container. It's attached to the main brush with the help of magnets.
Tumblr media
Microfiber mop automatically absorbs water from the tank while mopping, using the principle of plant capillarity.
Tumblr media
Please pay attention that the company does not recommend adding detergents to the water. Of course, all nozzles are compatible with any Roidmi vacuum.
Battery
Of course, the charging duration and battery life significantly affect the usability of any cordless device. The X 20 uses an 8-cell LG / Samsung Lithium battery with a total capacity of 2500 mAh.
Tumblr media
Its charging time does not exceed 2.5 hours. For comparison, the charging time of batteries with a similar capacity from other manufacturers often reaches 4 hours. Additionally, the BMS-X battery management system provides intelligent battery management, increasing their efficiency. As a result, running time reaches 60 minutes at normal power, 38 minutes in Moderate mode, and 10 minutes when using the highest setting. Four diodes on the housing indicate the charge level. After the battery runs out, the X20 shuts down. Unfortunately, it cannot work directly from the power outlets. A 35 W charger connects directly to a vacuum or using a small dock with magnets.
Tumblr media
The magnets are powerful enough to hold the vacuum upright, but are unlikely to hold it on the wall for long. Therefore, the optimal height of its placement is 36 inches (92 cm) from the floor, which corresponds to the X20 height with stick and nozzle. Of course, the unique magnetic attachment and wireless charging significantly increased usability. In fact, magnetic wall mount simultaneously provides storage and wireless charging without additional connections. Unfortunately, the model does not have a stand for compact storage of all accessories.
Operating modes
Minimum power with minimal noise is perfect for everyday cleaning of hard floors. Moderate mode improves performance. In this mode, the suction power is commensurate with full-size models, and the vacuum efficiently cleans low pile carpets. Unfortunately, the noise level is also increasing. Turbo mode provides maximum power. It's effective for cleaning medium-pile carpets and upholstered furniture. Fast battery drain and high noise level are its main cons. In Vacuum Mop Combo mode, the vacuum simultaneously sucks dust from the floor and wipes it.
Tumblr media
During cleaning, a damp cloth surface wets the floor behind the suction area. Unfortunately, the small tank capacity provides a relatively small cleaning area. On the other hand, pouring water is very simple.
Tumblr media
But this mode requires some skills. Firstly, the vacuum uses only one side of the nozzle to evenly distribute water on the floor surface. Secondly, the nozzle must be completely filled to uniformly wet the entire surface of the fabric. Mastering this technology took us some time. In our testing, the Vacuum Mop Combo mode was efficient and convenient for cleaning a long hallway, a small kitchen and a large room.
Roidmi cleaner app
Of course, apps significantly affect the functionality of any modern smart device. To connect to a smartphone, the X20 uses Bluetooth. Roidmi cleaner app with firmware update function supports iOS and Android. It provides control of the current charge level, the time until the battery is fully charged, the standby time, and the wear of the main filter.
Tumblr media
Setting the default operation power (minimum power after turning on) is the most important. The list of acceptable settings contains 60, 80 or 100 W, which correspond to 60, 45 or 35 minutes of cleaning time. Subjectively, 80 W is the most optimal choice, providing increased power while maintaining a normal duration. But Xiaomi's claimed compatibility with Mi Home requires choosing one of the regions of China during the first setup.
Testing
According to the developers, the 60-minute operation of the vacuum provides cleaning on an area of up to 380 square meters. But, of course, it depends on the cleaning quality, the evaluation of which is always individual. In our testing, it was cleaning of a 3-room apartment, X20 was compared to a powerful Siemens vacuum. We need to mention that the floors in two rooms are covered with low pile carpets. Usually, the time of such cleaning does not exceed 15-20 minutes. Roidmi X20 coped with this task in 27 minutes with the same quality. In addition, cleaning a small area of the carpet from rice took only a few minutes, even in Moderate mode. For the purity of the experiment, furniture and curtains were not cleaned. But a separate test of this mode also showed an excellent result. The X20 easily cleaned the curtains and keyboard at minimum power. The upholstery was cleaned in turbo mode in several minutes. In fact, the turbo mode was needed only for this purpose. For other tasks, Normal and Moderate power were sufficient. In addition, Vacuum Mop Combo mode helped quickly wipe floors instead of the traditional mop.
Conclusions
PROS: - excellent equipment provides wide functionality; - high suction power provides cleaning the carpets with low and medium-length pile; - very convenient automatic light; - 2-in-1 design; - wireless charging with Magnetic Wireless Charger; - Vacuum Mop Combo; - BMS-X battery management system; - long battery life at short charging time; - two brush rollers for different types of floors; - the innovative cyclone Air-X system prevents the loss of suction power due to clogging; - highly effective 6-step HEPA filtering; - stylish minimalist design. CONS: - no storage for accessories; - long-term cleaning in handheld mode tires the hand due to uneven distribution of weight; - the small bin capacity; - Vacuum Mop Combo mode requires skills; - small capacity of the water tank. Roidmi X20 cleaned a kitchen, hallway and three rooms with two low pile carpets on one full charge. At the same time, it was able to provide the cleaning quality no worse than powerful Siemens. But the cleaning time has increased by about 40%. Moreover, mop mode greatly simplified wet wiping. Therefore, the vacuum is especially convenient for cleaning apartments without carpets. But its use in Vacuum Mop Combo mode requires some skills. Unfortunately, it does not replace the traditional mopping of very dirty floors. To a greater extent, mop mode is designed for daily cleaning of not very dirty floors in the hallway or in the kitchen. Given the long battery life, the X20 is ideal for regular cleaning of an apartment with 2-3 rooms. Convenient automatic light, enhanced functionality through five attachments and the convenient Roidmi cleaner app are additional bonuses. This video introduces the Roidmi X20 (NEX Storm) Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. Read the full article

Criminal Minds S17 Spoilers!
For those who haven’t seen yet, we have official news about Matthew Gray Gubler, which can be found below the cut 👇
Unfortunately, Erica Messer has confirmed that Spencer Reid will not be in Season 2 of CME.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it was very, very silly to wait so long to tell fans, but it does seem like they might have been planning for his return and then it was thwarted by the strikes.
The good news is it seems very likely that we’ll see him in Season 3, so! Don’t give up hope on our boy’s eventual return!
Besides, there are still a lot of wonderful people on this season. I can’t wait.

I'm still wary that even with Will's absence, I do not trust the show that they'll give the rest of the cast not named Rossi more screentime. Even though Reid and Matt are no longer in the show, s16 still heavily focused on Rossi, Elias, Tyler, Will and Bailey. I'm skeptical that things will change for the better regarding the female cast and Luke having more focus in s17
Yep, exactly that. With all the rumours that MGG is returning, it's just gonna be another entire season focusing on the men - - because hey, that's what this entire show has been for 16 seasons, so why change now 🫠🙄
I was incredibly disappointed by CME, if I'm honest. For the first time in the show's history they had a 2:1 ratio of female cast members to male, AND YET THE ENTIRE THING FOCUSED ON MEN??
Like you said, it wasn't just Rossi either. They focused on the unsub, a suspect/victim(?), and the husband of a female lead instead of, idk, just letting the female characters exist within their own storylines 😩

S2 will be 10 episodes long. And Messer says it will be a little less serialised (focusing on one unsub) than S1 was

cm getting rid of Will and Rebecca for s17 (idk if Nicole mentioned anything about cm yet but it seems unlikely at this point) but not Tyler Green is just so cruel
Nicole posted this on her IG story last week:
Tumblr media
But she hasn't specified if she's working on S17 or not. Based on the way S16 left off in terms of Rebecca and Tara's relationship, I doubt Rebecca will be back. But who knows, because at the same time, she clearly knows something about gold star 🤔 I can only pray she comes back, because I genuinely love Nicole.
FUCK YEAH WILL IS OUT!!!! I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS HAPPY ABOUT A CAST CHANGE SINCE PAGET CAME BACK 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Let JJ get divorced and date a woman.
I have no opinion about Tyler Green tbrh. Garcia was SOOOOO out of character in S16, she felt like someone entirely different than the woman we've loved for 18 years. So I am ambivalent to the Tyler storyline.

AJ says that there will be a huge jemily moment in s17. I hope there's a jara moment as well
I'll preface this by saying, this is all my opinion and I am so happy for people who are looking forward to S17. I'm thrilled to know other people are thrilled, but I'm just not feeling it this time around. S16 was such a let down to me, I'm not really counting down the days to S17 right now.
Now to answer your ask:
After S16 if JJ and Emily are in the same fucking room that will be a 'huge' moment. 😂 The thing about this show is, the show runners (Messer mostly) and cast tease these things because they know the fans ship Jemily. By teasing a 'huge Jemily moment' -- AJ has started a hype and conversation online in fan spaces and social media -- which is exactly what Paramount wants.
It's the same way Paget and AJ have teased Jemily fans for YEARRRSSSS. It's free publicity. The show runners and cast know who their fanbase is, they know which of those fans are going to be most likely to talk about and hype up the show online. (Why do you think we had that extremely cringe 'mommy' moment in S16? That was clearly done to stir up fans so they'd talk about it online.)
What I'm saying is, after nearly twenty years in this god forsaken fandom I have learned that teasing comments like this don't actually have any follow through in the actual show. I'm not on any other platforms, but I can only assume the Jemily stans are going feral right about now and I'm not trashing anyone's excitement -- I will always ship Jemily -- but personally, I'm not going to hold my breath for some magical moment where Jemily becomes canon or anything.
It was SO SO SO huge that Tara was confirmed queer last season, I truly do not see this show ever making another character canon queer on top of that.
Part pooping attitude aside -- I would LOVE to see some JJ/Emily interactions that are actually true to their characters in S17. And OF COURSE I would love some Jara too! Truthfully, if we get ANY meaningful moments between ANY of these women it will automatically be better than S16.

If Derek Morgan ever appears in s17, I worry on what Messer and the writers will come up for him and Garcia since they still wanna keep Tyler Green. and ugh, I will be annoyed if Garcia continues to act like the way she was in s16 even if Morgan is there to try to reach out to her
(2/2) I dread the fact that Luke and Tara will continue to be sidelined since Tyler Green is now a series regular and no, I will not stop hating on Tyler Green
If anyone from the old cast is returning I desperately hope its Shemar. Maybe Derek could talk some sense into PG (unlikely lol).
Out of all the shitty parts of CME, the murder of Garcia's character is the biggest atrocity imo. They stripped her of all the character growth and depth previously built in the prior 15 seasons, and remade her into this clueless person who sleeps with suspects??????? (Yeah, I know he was absolved or whatever, but STILL????)
She may be wearing Garcia's clothes, she may be working in Garcia's office, but that is not Penelope Garcia.
I totally feel you in your fear of mains being side-lined for Tyler and Elias storylines. This entire reboot is a joke. It's so disappointing that they had the opportunity to make a more female driven show and instead of using the incredible talents of the female actors, they said 'Hey what men can we focus on?'
