and with the way minecraft stronghold generate in rings and how the closest ones are at least 1000 blocks out, there probably isn’t a stronghold in the world border (which is always set around 0,0), assuming that the world border doesn’t go 1000 blocks out

if I remember correctly, grian said there was a possibility of an end dimension, so maybe it’s a possibility because the players have to create the portal? Via tasks given by the secret keeper?

yes yes yes! and i think that the hole having to go all the way down makes sense, too; end strongholds spawn at any Y level where they aren’t poking out of the ground, so that would cover all bases.

grian states that quote “[he] did ask for there to be an end possibility in the seed” unquote, so i’m assuming that he means within the world borders! mainly because i assume all world seeds that the life series used have strongholds. however, you’re definitely right; even assuming that they got the farthest possible natural spawn, (±500, ±500), and kept that as the spawn, the closest stronghold is at least 1408 blocks away from (0, 0), so that’s, like, a thousand blocks. and i’m relatively certain we can assume that the world border isn’t a thousand blocks, so the options (operating under my assumption) are one, an artificially-generated stronghold (probably unlikely, seeing how grian said “in the seed”), two, an artificially-made end portal (more likely, due to bigb’s task parameters, but still pretty unlikely due to reasons stated above), or the spawn’s not nearly as close to (0, 0) as it usually is…

well, either that, or there just wasn’t strongholds generated previously. i know in vanilla there’s no way to do that while keeping villages, nether fortresses and the like, but the life series does have mods, so i’d take that constraint with a grain of salt LOL

maybe!!! that’s a really cool theory, i’d absolutely love to see how that would play out. it’s already been proven that the secretkeeper can give items that can’t be picked up naturally in survival (ex: grian’s infested stone), so something like that really wouldn’t be too far off, would it…?

He talks about this in the next chapter actually, and he describes his cambion self and especially his human self as a 'shadow' he lost touch with, and how with his resurrection, and losing the pit fiend form, he now has that sort of 50% back front and centre.

But his human self can be a sadist as well. People aren't compassionate by default.

Idk, I think there are some human motivations in there, but nothing ever quite tops his need to increase his power. And he has successfully just won a massive increase thanks to this fairly minor contract with Astarion. If nothing else, Astarion has already proven himself more than useful, and Raphael's proven he doesn't need to bind someone's soul to him, if it means netting even more souls in the future.

I do think like a spider, he's remaking a very large web - some of which broke when he died. But like a person, he has needs/wants/desires, and maybe sometimes he is just a guy who wants to sexually torment another guy for fun, who sometimes finds himself pleasantly surprised by how pretty Astarion is, or how clever, or how silly, etc. Like 'this is a pleasing and useful diversion but as soon as the toy gets boring and/or betrays me, we're done' but also with some fondness. Because I do think Raphael is capable of fondness towards certain people / individuals, even if it's not necessarily loyal.

Tbh I also feel very fly-on-the-wall sometimes.

So what IS Danjaley derived from? I love hearing the stories behind usernames. There was a meme at some point you might have answered, but I don't remember.

'Danjaley' was the name of a flying horse in a story I wrote when I was around 18. I tried to adapt it to the Sims at one point (Through Parting Glass, if anyone remembers), but it proved too complex. If anything, the name is a mash-up of "daisy" and "dandelion". I had this as a username for Modthesims without really meaning to get known by it. But then I uploaded CC there, so I used the name for Tumblr as well, and here we are.

Man, you write shades of grey so well. It’s hard to root for anybody, but it’s also hard to condemn anybody completely because all your characters’ actions are way too complex. “He’s wrong but..” “She shouldn’t have to deal with this but..” I could use your characters if I ever taught ethics class 😂 (except for Anita, that is, I always struggle to find any redeeming qualities in that lady :P)

I didn't write Saffy's speech very well...what she was trying to say was that it's a well-known fact that married men never leave their wives for their side-pieces! She was actually quite enraged that Liam turned out to be the statistical anomaly, lol. That was the last thing she wanted to happen!

Yeah, Saffy can be very acid-tongued. He probably deserved the wake up call but Saffy can count herself very lucky he didn't snap or do something as drastic as Stephanie.

Liam was always doomed by his poor life decisions and victim mentality. I'm also thinking that it was possible he had affairs as a passive-aggressive form of revenge, but didn't count on falling so heavily for Saffy. In any case, I think he got what he deserved.

@ingravinoveritas this may be fanon (canon created by fans), but it fits so well into the daddy/boy dynamic. Michael comes to David's performances with his doors wide open, wearing his best sweater (or baring his arms) and giving a standing ovation: THIS IS MY BOY! And David makes his way to Michael’s performances, wrapped in a scarf up to his eyebrows and sighs quietly in delight from an inconspicuous place in the corner.

@irvinis Ohh...this is tickling a very specific part of my brain. Oh, I love this. In the past I didn't usually go for the daddy/boy dynamic with Michael and David (because I've always seen their relationship as one of equals/switches), but this absolutely fits them like a freaking glove.

We have the picture Georgia posted of David all wrapped up exactly like that, so right away that gives us a visual:

And what you've described goes perfectly with what we saw when Michael went to see Macbeth in December--that white-bright moment of Michael gazing up at David from the audience, and David looking right back at him, captured forever on film and in our hearts. That, in contrast with last night, with David quietly going to the show and doing everything to keep the focus on Michael. David waiting until the lights have dimmed and all eyes are on the stage to let out that little sigh, feeling a shiver of unrestrained happiness work its way through his body as he watches, enraptured, as Michael does the thing he does best.

It's also interesting how this potentially ties into Michael not doing the matinee today. I know we could say it's because he's still recovering from being sick (and that would certainly make sense), but I love the thought that Michael sat out so many performances earlier in the week to make sure he had his strength specifically for last night's performance, because he knew David was coming and wanted to do a good job for him.

I could also see David going to Michael's dressing room after (with thanks to @greeneyed-thestral for planting the seed of that lovely idea) and seeing Michael all enthralled with a post-show high from performing, yet still anxious about how things went--worrying if he was on key for the musical number, if he missed any cues. I can see David slowly backing Michael into the mirror without a word, until the lights frame Michael like a halo. He takes off his ball cap and unravels his scarf in an elegant heap on the dresser, revealing himself, both of them now bare and vulnerable. David grasps either side of Michael's face in his hands, thumb tracing over the crow's feet at the side of Michael's eyes, and smiles softly. He kisses Michael, mouths opening just slightly as the kiss deepens and their tongues meet. Kisses him long enough to quiet Michael's mind, to get the overthinking voice inside to stop.

He is quiet, this David. Always making himself smaller to fit in rooms within rooms, hiding away, keeping the peace. Until Michael. Michael, who somehow had the key to every door. Something in David expands, becomes louder, growing to more than his slender frame could seem to handle, and he pours it into that kiss. A mark of this moment, of Michael bathed in light, of the two of them together and David silently saying, we are here. We are together and I am going to take care of you now.

Oh, yes...I could certainly see that happening. Thank you so much for this delicious prompt on a Saturday morning...

Holy shit I always assumed he was a half elf for some reason (I think something Matt said in a description of a flashback) but this changes everything!!

In the episode 34 flashback, Matt describes Ashton's elven father so I can see where the confusion comes in. Also if you look at Ashton's character art, they actually have the tops of their ears broken off because of the fall so you can't tell if they're elven or humanoid:

4SD from what I'm aware of isn't everyone's taste but it does reveal a lot of nice character stuff from the players and a whole lotta lore. In that particular ep, that's where Taliesin revealed the original aasimar heritage and that Ashton has been sort of repressing the fact.

Because I am a NERD and I know DnD lore, aasimar usually have one or two human parents so it totally makes sense if Ashton's mother was human or even an aasimar herself. And aasimar kids usually serve as a portent or a gift from the gods so they are extremely revered and highly sought after [I think there was a moment in the first campaign where Matt mentioned a demon lord trying to buy aasimar slaves]. Wouldn't it make sense that if Ashton's dad, an arrogant Hishari cultist, saw this and went "hmm you know what? If somehow the gods gave me a kid with heavenly blood that LITERALLY EVERYONE EVIL WILL BE AFTER, maybe they will allow me to access more divine stuff" before opening an elemental rift?

Then cue said open rift that caused a bright flash of white extremely similar to the Apogee Solstice incident that teleported wee kid Ashton to the middle of the Bassuras desert.

Actually during that flashback segment, you can see Laura mouthing to Marisha "aasimar?!?" and half the cast getting bewildered at the father reveal.

One reason I’m hesitant to believe Elain and Azriel will happen is that they’ve already almost kissed, and clearly have feelings for each other (to what extent is open to interpretation), and there aren’t any clear signs of conflict between the two of them. I’m not sure what obstacles they will have to overcome when it comes to their relationship with each other. I only bring this up because all of SJM’s major couples don’t start off romantically or on good terms. Aelin and Rowan hated each other. Bryce and Hunt tolerated each other, and became friends first. Yrene despised Chaol. Feyre couldn’t stand Rhysand. Cassian and Nesta were at each other’s throats. I’m seeing a common theme here. Right now there are major obstacles for Elucien. So I feel like they make sense.

I’m not saying Elriel is impossible, but what are the obstacles for Azriel and Elain that don’t involve Lucien, or Rhysand forbidding them from being together?
